Dear Jack, There are two ways to see the use of water in Feng Shui:- 1. On a scientific basis, water positions is looked at in conjuction with Feng Shui theories : Shapes and Forms & Flying Star. In particular, under Flying Star, locations where metal elements have been detected, water can be used to enhance such "metal locations". Thus a combination of water with metal can help here. 2. On a non-scientific basis, one would have to visualise locations one can place a fish tank at. Usually, since it is a tall object, it is placed along a wall. And in most homes in the living room area. 3. Never place a fish tank at the centre location of a home. As this would affect fa…

  4. Dear Cecil, The New Year 2006 is in two days' time. I was told not to display the new 2006 calender on the desk, on the wall or in the home or office until 1 Jan 06. The new calender should be kept away from sight until 1 Jan. This will then bring good luck and overall good year for the individual. Not sure what is the logic behind or if this is just superstition. Maybe there is some truth. Any views? Thank you. Rich

Dear Sophia, So long as the altar table is of sufficient length (often proper altar tables fit the Feng Shui ruler measurement); there should not be an issue as to how many deities are placed on the table. It also depends on the size of the deity and usually, as mentioned previously all of them should not be placed on the same height or level. The rule of thumb is that one should place a reasonable number of deities one worships but bear in mind that there should if possible no two identical type of figurine such as two Guan Yin's etc... (Other than buddha figurines since there are lots of various buddha's so having a few buddha figurines is not an issue) The most bus…

    1. You can check out this link:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/arowanafish.htm 2. For example, if you have the time you may like to read articles Q3 and Q9 on the "Gua" and the "Ba Zi method. 3. Another traditional method is based on the Flying Star. Where :- 7 number of gold fishes represents metal element. And a black gold fish is added (to represent water). Thus in the past, a practitioner may advise an owner to rear 7 gold fishes + 1 black (symbolises water element) fish. Alternatively 6 number of gold fishes also represents (big ) metal element. And it is equally acceptable to use 6 gold + 1 black.

Dear Nina, 1. One option is to acquire mosquito larvae granules, which can be found at various plant nurseries throughout the island. The cost for a bottle or packet ranges from S$3.50 to S$4.50. 2. A single tablespoon of these granules can sustain for several weeks. 3. Regarding fish: There are numerous interpretations concerning the quantity of fish: 1. The concept of Yin and Yang suggests that water is associated with Yin (softness). Yin is also symbolized by even numbers such as 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, etc. To achieve balance in a fish tank, it is recommended to have an odd number of fish, as odd numbers represent Yang. This creates a harmonious presence of both …

Dear Stan, Under Flying Star Feng Shui; each number represents an element. This is where #7 represents `small metal'. While #1 represents water element. And #6 represents `big metal' Often a "fail-safe" system is where should one of the 7 gold fish dies, often, one is still left with 6 gold fishes with 1 black fish. Under the Productive sequence of the Five elements concept: Metal supports Water element. Thus, this is why, 7 gold fishes with 1 black is often mentioned - for fish tank. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Carrie, It is best to use 6 (hollow) rods. It can be made of brass or even (silver) aluminium. The centre `clinger' or the support roof can be made of either metal or wood. I personally find a wooden material the centre `clinger' that hits the 6 rods better than metal. Since it is lighter and with the slightest breeze is easier moved by the wind. For information, the rationale for using 6 rods is because 6 represents `BIG METAL'. And metal is often used as a cure. Alternatives for wind chime is to place six coins (preferably the Chinese coins with square holes at the centre) into a glass jar (e.g. a glass jam jar). Add a spoonful of salt and water. But this alterna…

Hi, Master Lee, I read about your reply a number of years back to a query re the auspicious number of steps. I'm not sure if the total number of steps we have at home is auspicious or not. We have a 3-storey house. From ground floor to the second floor including the landing is 14steps and another 14 steps from second floor to third floor ( also including the landing ). That's a total of 28 steps. Is that number auspicious? Any remedies, if not? Thank you so much, Master Lee! Here's hoping to hear from you soon. Sincerely yours, Jona

Dear Rochi, Please see below:- This is because the normal Flying Star Feng Shui is meant only for a "horizontal" analysis. But it is not meant to analyse a ground level house no. For those who are not aware, this free module is available under www.geomancy-online.com. For other numbers, you may have to use other numberolgy methods to find out. 1. a garage especially with a vehicle has lots of metal and can be considered `big metal' element. 2. The other consideration is `safety' concerns. I am not sure how many cars suddenly burn by themselves but this is one of the considerations or the `fear' or unneccessary fear of it? There is a I am unable to comment on …

Dear Cecil, Thank you for the information on Numbers. That was exciting reading & learning because I have always been told that 4 is BAD and nothing good to it. Please advice if I didn't misunderstand what you wrote in the article. If the house is completed in period 7, and the number is 4040 for example - this is actually a good number? Because although it sounds like death, being in period 7 and adding up to 8 make it OK? Thank you for your explanation. Tammy

Dear Kenneth, In the past, I had actually written quite alot of guidelines and practises on the number of fishes and even the type of stand used a various locations. In general, one School of thought (Flying Star) use the numbers: 7 gold fishes represent metal element and 1 black gold fish represents water element. Thus often, one recommendation could be: 7 gold and 1 black. Since the probability of one of the 7 gold fish(es) dying is much greater than say 1 black, then even if the 7 gold fishes are or were reduced to 6, 6 still represents big metal. Hence, under the productive cycle, metal supports water. Well, frankly, the above talks often only about gold fishe…

My husband is metal (7) and I'm an earth (8). Our house facing direction is east (build in 2018 roof finished)/2019). Meaning that our most favorable sleeping shared sleeping direction would be west as all our walls face a north/south/east/west. Our current bedroom would have this sleeping position under a window, but facing the door in a good position. We have mountain star 8 and water star 8 and time star 1 in this bedroom. If we would lay under the window we would be sleeping in western direction. Currently we sleep in southern direction to a blind wall in a 3(m) 4(w) 5 (t) area. It is possible to relocate our bedroom to a room where we can position our bed …

Dear Andy, An event's manager may be considered as a wood element. While a nutritionist especially if you do provide frequent advise to people can also be considered directly as belonging to the wood element. As wood element is about "growth/ nurturing", teaching, training andin thecase of an event's manager co-ordination. If so, if we strictly based on the FiveElements concept, metal destroys wood to create wealth. Thus without considering your personal traits or preferences, both are suppose to acceptable to you. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Shifu, We are looking at to buy a unit at Eco Sanctuary with true North South facing. The living room face South and the kitchen (per layout) looks like to be in the NW sector. The door face West when you stand at the door looking out. As these are quite new to us, may I know base on the layout, if the kitchen is indeed in the Northwest? If yes, what can we do about it? Both my husband and I are west group people. It looks like the master bedroom in the SE sector isn't ideal? Thank you Shifu!
