Seek General Advice from Master Cecil Lee

Dear Ling Ling, Please see below:- Often if no screen or partition is used, simply closing that particular window is ok. But if the window is left open, then a blind could be "poor alternative". Avoid bright yellow or cream or beige especially in the bedroom or bright red or pink in the master bedroom. This could be the colour of the walls or curtains or bedsheet.

Dear Anon, Frankly, a layout would be easier for us to help you on such advise. Uncluttering is always good, but for advising where is best placement, a layout plan would speak a thousand word. Though, many factors will still need to be considered ie the best direction etc, however, the shapes and form placement is often quite important. So generally, there is usually one or two way to place a bed in most modern layout. Whether there are at least two different position, then you based on which direction will be most suitable for you. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

  3. 1. Possible for a Block of flats. Here, especially the frontage of all units face a specific direction. 2. For a landed property, it depends: 2.1. If the neighbours are in-close proximity; say each is a small plot of land, your "south" frontage may be facing another plot's side-view. Here, if one is "unlucky", one may even get to face the toilets of the neighbour or even their backyard (some) with messy storage and hanging laundry. In addition, one will be in big-trouble, if the neigbhour's home roof is triangular shaped and have several of these "attacking" your "south" facing home. 2.2.Try to plot the Flying Star and take the opportunity to "activate" say the double …

Dear Anon, Usually, the significance of a windchime is not related to the Kua (Gua Number). Under Traditional Feng Shui, it is particularly commonly used at locations with #5 (misfortune) sector of the home. Especially if it is made of metal. The generation of metallic sounds is useful to neutralise #5. In your case, if you do rely on the above, can, at your own preference, try to find a place, in your home to place it. Dear Johnny, 1. If one uses a Ba Gua mirror, it should have a convex mirror at the centre (e.g. like those placed at car park blind spots. It should not be concave as this is meant to `absorb' rather than deflect. 2. For your mum's room, ideally, you could use curtains. For example, two layers of curtain i.e. day curtain and night curtain. In the day time, day curtain could be used to shield against this poison arrow. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  9. Started by Derek,

Dear Derek, Based on the little information provided, you may have to use your personal feeling to determine where you feel comfortable with the placement of a fish tank. Bear in mind that the living room should have clear space and the fish tank can be e.g. a conversation piece or against a wall, where you and your family feel comfortable with. Normally, the Flying Star chart is used to find out if there is any imbalance (if any) at the location where one wants to place a fish tank. Or, because a specific location can activate the water star. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. The key success in Feng Shui is often " Not practising Feng Shui at all". 2. Frankly, if one analyse Feng Shui carefully, often the key success has much to do with our external environment. Or higher weightage is to placed on our external environment. 3. For example, just three months back, this businessman consulted on his home Feng Shui. And he is in this `metal' parts business for quite sometime. 4. After our home consultation, he asked me whether, should he invite me to look at his business Feng Shui. 5. Here, I asked him how is his business. He said, it is OK. 6. Given this understanding, I mentioned to him that it is not really necessary to do a FS au…

Dear Daranee, Frankly, it is perfectly ok since if one look at a it from a proper perspective, it does wonders for human or man factors. Although, the text book case of this situation being inappropriate under earth luck, but if it truely comforts your parent. Then this is perfectly fine. In fact, human or man luck factors often overrights any earth luck factors or feng shui. Therefore, do let your father have his way since it truely brings him comfort for the time being. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Dear Theresa, It would be good if you can provide a `sketch' and send as an attachment to this forum for me to take a look at it. As mentioned, it would be best to provide a sketch (in proportion) as it is difficult for me to comment on the above. Apologies.. I am not too clear on this. Determining the frontage of the house is important here. Some houses, may have the frontage facing the `back' of the house. Usually, if this is the back of the house, it is best to have a wall or fence (bushes) to protect the back of the home. It would be good to have the house protected on each side and particularly advantages if it can be like a horseshoe effect. Warmest…

Dear Jen, For a staircase, the major considerations are: 1. Number of steps 2. Avoid having the steps face the main door. (Here, a partition or screen should be used). 3. A set of staircase, should where possible have a landing or two landings if the upstairs is high. 4. Preferably avoid a circular staircase, especially if it can be seen from the main door. 5. Where possible, each step should be `covered' up and not `see thru' i.e. planks placed on each step. 6. For the position of the stairs, where possible it should preferably hug or share an external wall. 7. Anything else, will have to be looked at on a case-by-case basis. And therefore `it depends' on the full layout…

  17. Dear MD, Based on your unit, you should find the centrepoint of the unit. And from this centrepoint (standing at the centrepoint) use a compass to `aim' at the main entrance. Please follow the method used here:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm The above should help you to properly determine whether it is Chen or Kan. 18. Feng Shui like many other disciplines; have a macro and micro view. The macro scope can be:- 1. The Landscape 2. The site 3. The building or the home. Thus more often, the above three are equally important as the interior of a home. Therefore, Feng Shui cannot live in isolation without the surroundings. 4. The home interior:- 4.1. When planning a home, Feng Shui is looked at in it's entirety. 4.2. What you are looking at or consider looking at is MICRO-Feng Shui of say one or two rooms. Feng Shui can do so.

Dear Julia, Frankly, there is not much one can enhance in a small apartment. Where possible, try to make it as `cosy' as possible depending on the one's needs. Needs depend on:- Whether the apartment is used as a `haven' to return to after busy work schedule or used partially for sleep and study. The major principle of Yin and Yang can be applied in the room. Such as making the room more Yin (for good night rest) or semi-yin and yang (for study/relaxation or sleep). Please see below:- Realistically speaking, not much one can do here. It is good to close the bathroom door when not in use. If there is the luxury of a side table; one can place a lamp on it to serve a…

Dear Monique, Although the octagonal window does not pose a `threat' i.e. poison arrow; most probably, there is an element of `superstition'. Perhaps your neighbour felt that now, the bathroom `became' obvious and to them, it could be that it is thus considered inauspicious to have their door distinctly `facing' the bathroom. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Thank you for your time. I am selling a home in California, the front door does not face the street, this seems like a benefit is that correct? If so how can I use this to my advantage in marketing my property? Frankly, as long as there is no road cutting towards the house or curving into the house then there is no sha qi towards the house. Therefore, there should not be any major sha qi from that point. But this is a very common feng shui benefit. Therefore, if you do want to use feng shui in your marketing of your property, you should be wanting to list it's major or uniquefeng shui benefit rather than to list all the minor benefit. Hope …

Dear Serene, It would be best to tie a red string with the 6 coinst tied together. This is preferred if one is using 6 coins. The rationale is because fire element (red) can help to bind or control metal element (especially if it consists of 6 metal or big metal element). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Vijay, I recommend that you take a three step approach: 1. What is the purpose of each concept? 2. What is it's strengths? 3. What is it's weakness? If the above is clearly understood, there is no issue in understanding what is 8 directions/Eight House vs Pillars of destiny (Ba Zi). There are already lots of replies to such related questions. Please do a SEARCH and try to figure out the above:) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Amy, 1. Perhaps, you may like to consider the expert help option (We do it for you). 2. Each of us have our own birth-chart. And the distinction between Eight House and Flying Star Feng Shui is similar. 3. Both takes into consideration the "birth-chart" of a home. 4. As mentioned above, each of us have our birth-chart. Same goes for a home. 5. Given this understanding, we need to balance the elements in a home's "birth-chart". And the Flying Star Chart actually analyses the "birth-chart" of a home. 6. Therefore, even if one is a metal element or other element, we MUST first balance the birth-chart of our home. One way is based on the advice provided in a Flying Star …

Dear Sophia, One of the methods or "conditions" that can help change a home to a Period 8 home is (besides renovations) is to invite the lion (lion-dance) into the home. This act of the lion "threatening" the home and in return, the owners hang a red-packet or hong-bao is traditionally done on the 15th day of the 1st month of the lunar calendar. Thus since this year's Chinese New Year (CNY) starts on 8 Feb 2005, traditionally the lion-dance is held on the last day of CNY or 22 Feb 2005. The lion dance actuallycame from Western Asia to China during theTangdynasty. For those with private business, do take note that for start of business, one shouldopen business either…
