Dear Lily, Lily Loh wrote: May I know Orange colour belongs to the Fire element or is it considered gold - metal element? Orange is by default classified more as Earth element. Very dark Orange can sometimes look like Brown so Wood element. While Very light Orange which resembles Gold can be Metal. So depends on the tone in the colour. Dear Damodar, Weak or strong is determined by several factors: 1. On a very general level, the day of birth is referenced to the season the person is born. Based on the interaction of the season ELEMENT STRENGTH, it is looked at in relation to the person's ELEMENT. 2. Depending on the type of Pillars of Destiny chart `done': 2.1 Some simply look at the day of birth, while others look deeper using the interaction of the four pillars. More advanced analysis looks at all four pillars: Year, Month, Day and Time + House of Life and House of Conception. More advanced analysis looks at each pillar = Heaven stem and earthly branches with reference to other stems and earthly bran…

Dear Veraa, 1. In my opinion, it is not adviseable to place any objects (if possible) at the centre-point area of the home especially if it is a fish tank. 2. In your case, it would not be auspicious to see three shadows of knives as (in my opinion) it represents Sha Qi. 3. As for the effect of the three containers, if it is already placed there, you should monitor the situation closely especially for the next month to three months (as the effect would be felt if any during this time). Warmest Regards, Cecil

    1. From a Ba zi, perspective, make sure that the person is not a Strong Water person or a weak fire person as a water position placed wrongly in a home is considered inauspicious. 2. A water position, placed wrongly can also affect health and family relationships i.e. under Flying Star, if it is placed in a mountain star #8 location. 3. You can read up on what makes a good water feature (especially Para 2.1 to 2.12) under this link:- http://fountain.geomancy.net

Dear Anon, 1. Basically, a loupan should not be placed outside of a house or hung on the external wall. This is because if it is a real loupan, it may not withstand the prolonged weather condition. So far, I do not see anyone placing a real one let alone a replica piece. 2. Perhaps, maybe, the person advised you found that the First Heaven Sequence formation is found on it. This is why, you may have been advised to use it. Alternatively, perhaps, the person had heard that it can be used to `ward off evil'. Reference on the First Heaven Sequence formation:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-pakua.htm 3. For whatever reasons, a Ba Gua mirror would do the job more e…

Dear Diane, 1.In my opinion, kei loons and especially a pair of lions are usually decorative items. 2. In many parts of China, one can see a huge pair of lions outside the entrances of large buildings. 3. In my opinion, there is nothing really magical in them other than they give an imposing `confidence' to the building(s). 4. In Singapore, a pair of lions (large ones) are very popular also. For example, one can see a pair of lion statues outside the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Singapore. At the main entrance of Ngee Ann City (mega) city. Many temples also have the lion statues "standing guard". 5. In my opinion, kei loons are more commonly placed in homes or above the p…

Dear Amy, In general: 1. Colours are important in Feng Shui. Thus, do check the type of colour(s) used. 2. White - represents metal element. And if the room is in white colour, it already has one component which is metal. 3. Colours like cream or beige or yellow belongs to the earth element. And rooms that are painted in these colours and if there are #2 (bad sickness earth) and #5 (bad earth - misfortune/sickness). If the room has been painted this colour or other colours in the room e.g. curtains used cream or yellow, then, metal should be used, here. 4. Where possible for neutralising #5 - constant metal is needed. Cures for this would range from: 4.1. 6 rod metal w…

Dear Hoa, 2. Toilet is also the one major water leak in the home. Thus, it is why when a toilet for example is located in the center of the house, it considered a major wealth leak. So because a toilet location is deemed as least beneficial, it is often good when bad stars fall in a toilet location. It will help to dispell such bad influence. Just like other less important uses for rooms such as storeroom etc. Since you don't use it that much, if bad stars falls in such rooms, it will not harm the people there as no one lives there. As such, if you image if there the sector is good but it is located at the toilet influence, how much wealth can you expect to get? …

Dear Anon, 1. There are indeed many (many) methods of calculations under "Numerology" and variants to it. 2. Furthermore, numbers are quite subjective and there are many interpretations. 3. It is very difficult to be accurate with simple analysis like what you had mentioned. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear George, 1. In my opinion, we must be very practical in our lifes. 2. Under symbolism in Feng Shui, the closest to "auspicious" house number is as shown in the sample attachment. 3. Look at it this way: A house is not like a car in most parts of the world. This is because, how often, can we change our house numbers vs how often can we change cars and car plate? 4. Often, when we purchase a house, we are literally stuck with the naming convention of that specific street or avenue. 5. Even under numerology, there are so many ideas of what is or is'nt auspicious. The saying goes: "One man's meat is another man's poison". Even in the west, some people are supersitious w…

Dear Anon, 1. You can learn more about Shapes and Form Feng Shui at this URL:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/resources.htm (The Free Fun with Feng Shui website or get the Applied Feng Shui book). 2. Or if you are at any local bookstore, you can try to find out books on `Basic Feng Shui'. Majority of books written on Feng Shui today - are those of Shapes and Form Feng Shui. Therefore, you should not have any problems buying any of them. Take the opportunity to browse thru before u buy them. Specifically, avoid "like the plague" any books where the author `express thanks to Lin Yun' or mentioned Black Hat Sect. I feel that books of this nature are not of proper Feng S…

  17. Dear Wilfredo, In order to confirm; if one is standing at the main entrance door and can see e.g. the tree trunk. Here, the tree trunk is said to be slicing into the main door. If so, then this is a `poison arrow' slicing into a house. This is considered a `Sha Qi' or inauspicious. And should be corrected. But if it is a young tree e.g. within a thin branch or more like a bush; then this will not pose a threat right now. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mercedes, 1. We can draw a parallel with Feng Shui. 2. For most of us, what comes immediately to our mind is enhancements, first and do not blink an eye to the techniques. 3. In Feng Shui, you can learn everything from a Master or even do the best Flying Star Chart, but in the end, it is not the best chart but rather, how one apply the appropriate technique which can yield success. 4. For example, you have asked which is the best month and date to take your nursing exam. This is similiar to looking asking a Feng Shui practitioner, what enhancements I can make to pass my Feng Shui examination. 5. Frankly, the month is not as important as the day. But again, what matte…

Dear SK, You house has satisified Para 1 and 2. As for Para 3, as mentioned in my previous message, so far, it is proven that a hill as high as 1 storey high, will most certainly qualify for the Pearl String Formation. Hmm... for "tall thick Hedge", this is something new (or not proven yet). This is because, under the original Pearl String Formation, the effectiveness has to do with `earth' or a hill made of earth. As to a `hill' made of thick hedge, as mentioned, in my opinion, there is very few past precedence. And to me, frankly is virgin territory. Looking at it, you may have to decide on your own whether to try it or not. Thus to me, I cannot say for sure, if it will…

Dear Anon, Nowadays, many of us immediately associate Feng Shui merely with the interior decor of a home. But this is far from the truth. For example, I refer to Dr Evelyn Lip's book "Chinese Geomancy - A layman's guide" Page 7:- Quote from her book: "There are three types of sha or sand which the geomaner looks for. These are represented by the various "star" symbols. The Star of Fire represents sand that has a sharp and cutting edge while the Star of Wood is sand that is round and straight. Sand that is long and round is called the Star of gold, whilst sand that forms a wave-like pattern is called the Star of Earth. Once the quality is sand is determined and classi…

Dear Master Cecil Lee, Your site is very informative and helpful . I just bought an walkup apartment (2nd floor ) recently , will be moving around November 2005 . The problem is i have no idea where to place the bed in the master bed room , as both side of the wall have a windows , and the room come with attached bath room . So , seems like i can't put the bed at any of the 4 walls ( facing window , underneath windows , door etc ) . Do you think current bed position suitable ? Any impact if i build a walk-in wardrobe as shown in the plan . If not mistaken , the main door entrance is at north west side , which is very good for me.(I belong to Wood ) I'm t…

Dear Benjamin, Please see below:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm 2. The above analysis of the door direction using an ordinary compass will help or assist one to determine compass direction of the main entrance door. This info is required as an input for generating the Flying Star Chart and/or the Eight House Chart. 3. For the Flying Star Chart, accuracy must be in the range of + or - 15 degrees in order to get the correct orientation e.g. North 1, or North 2 or North 3?. 4. With the above information, then a chart such as the Flying Star Chart can be drawn and items placed within one of the 9x9 grid or a pie chart of 8 sectors under the Flying Star Char…

Dear Michelle, 1. In my opinion, I do come across (especially) many homes as what you have described. 2. Overall, although, it may not look `ideal' for such a situation under Feng Shui but from my personal (and past experience); I felt that this is really not of a major issue. Another factor is that at this second level, especially if are pockets of air movement (if one opens the windows) would be good for the circulation of air between level 2 and level 1 via the stair-case/stair-case landing area. 3. Instead, priority should instead be looked at with regards to poison arrows (aimed towards the home) i.e. when one stands at the window or main entrance door looking outw…

  24. Dear Max, Usually, if there is a missing corner, we can try to redress it e.g. with mirrors etc... However, if a sector is deemed to be an auspicious sector is "occupied" e.g. by a toilet, etc... there is really not much one can do - to improve the situation. Usually, if we consider `sectors' it is but one of many sectors under e.g. a concept. Thus, lets assume that this concept or theory accounts for 20% of the total marks out of 100 marks. Within this 20%, if we divide 20% by 9; this gives 2.2 marks per sector. Thus, each sector only brings in 2.2 marks. Which is considered insignificant when compared to good Shapes and Form Feng Shui. Which can yield 50% of the total 1…
