Dear Peck Wun, Since you are considered the breadwinner, it is good for the stove to orientate a good position for the breadwinner. In such a situation, since you are a weak fire person, orientating the stove to the east is a good option for you. Since east facing represents wood element. Where wood element will help fire element to grow. However, it is important to take note of the following:- If your stove is facing east, and if it so happens that your main door is located at west, then, it is best to use stove knobs that face upwards i.e. towards the sky. And avoid having a stove with the knobs at the side of the stove facing west wards. However, if the main door is l…

  2. 1. Please note that there are different interpretations with the regards to to the Four Symbolic Animals:- 1.1. Shapes and Forms If you consider shapes and forms then, literally the dragon is suppose to be on your left and the tiger on the right. As what you had mentioned. 1.2. Compass School Compass School interpretation is different. And strictly, North = Black tortise, while South = Red phoenix; East = Green Dragon and West = White (Metal) Tiger. For a strong water person, (other than taking into considering the season of strength) the best colours are: Favourable: Wood i.e. green and brown The reason here is that wood well help a strong water person exhaust the "strong water" i.e. control it. Or the use of " Earth " element to destroy water. Earth colour is yellow or square shaped. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Berna, I cannot `blame' you for being confused with so many " Types " of Feng Shui. Especially since, there are lots of sites nowadays using Black Hat Sect " stuffs ". In my opinion, any other `styles' are much better than applying Black Hat Sect. In Traditional Feng Shui there are principally two major schools- a. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui b. Compass School (Such as Flying Star and Eight House). As much as we would like to apply Feng Shui as fast as we can, it is best to understand the rationale for each School and try to understand the basics. For Shapes and Form Feng Shui, you can tour the resources in this site or simply get a book on Shapes and Form Feng Shui.…

Dear Susan, In my opinion, this is a rudimentary way of looking at analysing Ba Zi. Overall, what you did does not take into considerations:- harms, punishments, double and triple combinations of elements (which some are good while others are not favourable to one's element. Basic Ba Zi also includes, the Year, Day, Month, Hour of birth. But professional Ba Zi has to include not only the above but also two other pillars : House of Life and House of Conception. Perhaps, you can learn more about what Full Ba Zi analysis looks like under this url:- http://sg.geomancy.net/consultation/consult-others/fullbazianalysis.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jeanette, 1. It is good to understand that, as a guide, a missing corner should be one where there is a 33.3 percent missing `area' in a specific sector. Here, the home is sub-divided in 9 equal divisions or a 3 x 3 grid. 2. It is good to examine, whether it is really a missing corner or a protrusion. As different `treatment'/intrepretation is used. 3. If there is a missing corner in the home and the house is a: 3.1 Landed property If it is a landed property, an outline of the `missing area' or boundary can be created outside the house. A top-view will then show that the missing area has been outlined by a boundary. The boundary can be shrubs, fencing or layout on …

Dear Wasis, 1. In my opinion, we hae to look at priorities or weighing of priorities in such cases. 2. Under the grand duke theory, it is more important to: avoid touching or disturbing the grand duke e.g. at South (this year - begining 12 February 2002). 3. For example, before; this coming Chinese New Year, I was " working hard " trying to maintain my garden e.g. digging earth at that location because it is situated at South of my house. I would (avoid like the plague) digging earth at that sector for the better period of this Lunar Year). 4. For the Grand Duke Theory, e.g. when fighting a war etc... we can continue to apply the `rule' i.e. to avoid confronting him i.e. …

Dear Yew-Meng, In my opinion, and I believe, it is the general consensus of many Feng Shui practitioners that there is no basis in the type of concept put forth by such books. The key ingredient of Feng Shui is based on the Five Elements Concept. Even under the Flying Star or Eight House (Compass Schools) if one check with many of the more popular practitioners; many would not agree with the type of concept put forth i.e. reversal of magnetic poles. The traditional Flying Star model is a horizontal model i.e. looking 360 degrees horizontally. This traditional model has been adapted to look at flats/apartments and thus; the `Vertical Flying Star model' was born for that pu…

  10. 1. Most professional Feng Shui practitioners apply both Shapes and Forms and Compass School Feng Shui. 2. As the name suggests, Compass School Feng Shui needs the "correct" compass direction of a home. And under this school we have the Eight House Theory and the Flying star Feng Shui. 2.1. Once the compass direction of a home is known, the interior chart can be looked at for the 20 year Feng Shui as well as yearly Feng Shui. 3. If one lives in a landed property; there are instances where neighbours move out, resold or renovate their home. Often changes to the neighbourhood would affect the Feng Shui of a landed property. In such a situation, one can still e.g. take pic…

Dear Grace, 1. In my book Applied Feng Shui Made Easy, Page 58; I have listed two formulas that are applicable even in 2000 and more. One of the formula (Method 2) is: - Take the year of birth = 00 - Add the last two digits to get a single number = 0 - Add 5 to this single number - Add two digits to a single numer. this wil be your daughter's Gua no. For example: Born in 2000 0 + 0 = 0; 5 + 0 = 5; 0 + 5 = 5. Your daughter's Gua number is = 5. 2. Another easier method is to goto www.geomancy-online.com and generate a Free Gua Report. The Free generated Gua Report available at the above link also confirms that your daughter's Gua no. is 5. " Your Gua (Kua) Number No. 5 Gua…

Dear Lora, In your situation, you can place two plants on each side of your entrance door to create a `triangle effect' with the tree. From a top down view, it would show as a triangle profile; where the tip of the triangle, points away from the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Iris, 1. Please refer to my most recent message on the use of fish tank in this conference. The message is titled: Aquarium - rearing of fishes 12/7/2001. 2. In my opinion, rearing of fishes be best left to those who love to rear them as a hobby. Unless, one has been specifically asked to rear one e.g. to neutralise a poison arrow i.e. aimed into the bedroom such as a lone lamp post which may pose a threat i.e. slicing into the home. 3. The adage: If it ain't broken, do not fix it. How true this is (in my opinion). As sometimes, we may unexpectedly bring ourselves more problems. If rearing fish is a hobby, then, it can be expected that we can consult say a FS practi…

Dear Anon, Since your problems were related or felt to be related to the fish tank, in my opinion, it is best that you do away with the Fish tank. In Feng Shui, fish tank(s) are often used as a cure and not an enhancer. Enhancers include pretty large fountains etc... Other than the above, some consider rearing fish as a hobby. Under Pillars of Destiny, if one's element is a weak fire or strong water person; then it is best to avoid a fish tank in the home:- 1. It can further extinguish a weak fire person's element. 2. It is not favourable to a strong water person. In the I-Ching, water signifies `difficulty' and it may cause difficulty for some people. Warmest Regards, Ce…

Dear Anon, 1. I am glad you find the forum useful. 2. Firstly, there should not be any conflict between a weak metal and a wood-horse as the second is the heavenly stem plus earthly branch of your year of birth. 3. And in the greater picture of Pillars of Destiny: it is part of the overall picture of your Pillars of Destiny or Ba Zi - where your weak metal is derived from not only the Year but also includes the Month, Day and Time of birth. 4. For Gua or Kua being 1; one has to remember that it is also based on a general overview i.e. based on the Year of birth only. Thus, to re-cap; a proper or a simple basic Pillars of Destiny would alone take into consideration Year, …

Dear Ben, 1. Each industry can be classified under a specific "Five element". 2. In addition, the constant for this Lunar Year is: The Metal Monkey in Wood Year 2004. 3. The common basis of the above is on the Five Elements concept. 4. Industrial Analysis On the above basis (for stocks and shares as well as venturing into such business), each industry can also be classified into one of the Five elements: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth & Metal. For example, since this year belongs to the Wood year, in general, a prediction can state that trades related to wood, should be good. (Although, there will be high competition) but often, it may lead to success and lots of chances to…

Dear Yew-Meng, Thank you for the sketch of your layout plan. I have marked the centrepoint of the house. The attached illustration will also show that you should take the compass reading from point A to B. Please refer to the above. You should be able to find the direction of the main entrance based on the attachment. From your sketch, it looks like your main door is at the North. It is a serious flaw if the house has its main door facing a hill. Ideally, the main door should be a the frontage or many of the windows for the frontage are located here. Sometimes, the main door can be at either side i.e. East or West. If one purposely built the frontage facing …

Dear Anon, The best form of `metal' element is one's clothings. Where possible try to wear white coloured clothings. For example, for men, you can continue to wear dark colored trousers and the best colour for shirts are white or white with `gold'. You need not necessarily wear all white but even white shirt with stripes etc... Same concept for ladies. For a car colour, it would be nice to have a white colored car or gold/yellow colour. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sanjay, It depends. Often for the purpose of looking at an office; we often sectionalise or subdivide each room / office room into sectors. But for a home, it is much easier to take the complete home and do a full single chart. But if one's home is huge e.g. the left wing or the right wing etc.. than it can be further subdivided.
