    1. Frankly, authentic Feng Shui has to use tools like Flying Stars etc. 2. Otherwise, you may have to do like everyone else; based on your acumen and feelings in the placement of your bed etc.. 3. When you place your bed-head, you should feel comfortable with it despite having 2 doors and 2 windows as it is very difficult to visual what you had mentioned in writing. 4. If your bed is placed against a window, often, the window(s) are not opened and curtains are drawn. Seethe B. wrote: i am fairly new to feng shui. i get the basic idea, so i dont know much about flying stars and all the fancy stuff, but i am trying to at least start with the basic ideas or feng shui so…

Facing direction of a home does not necessarily mean that you need e.g. the main, front, door. You mentioned: "Our main door is a sliding glass door facing east. " Usually this should be the frontage or facing direction of your "home" especially if there is "clear space" at the front for qi to congregate. Again, it depends on any blockages e.g. sides are "neighbourhood buildings" etc... If the home is facing e.g. a lake vs the frontage is facing the roadway.. sometimes, the view of the lake could be the frontage. Need judgemental skills.

Dear Peck Wun, Please see below:- Under Shapes and Form Feng Shui, there is not much one can do unless one occupies another room. Usually, in such a situation:- 1. Always get the Shapes and Form of the placement of the interior of the bedroom right. For example, where ever possible, see if the bed can be on the opposite wall of the bedroom door. Or have the bed head placed against a solid wall. 2. This depends on the individual. But often, Flying Star Feng Shui is used to evaluate this and other rooms to neutralise any Sha Qi if any. The limited cures are either:- 1. Placement of a mirror on the wall to create a symbolic `extension'. 2. Placement or either a win…

Dear Yew-Meng, Thank you for the sketch of your layout plan. I have marked the centrepoint of the house. The attached illustration will also show that you should take the compass reading from point A to B. Please refer to the above. You should be able to find the direction of the main entrance based on the attachment. From your sketch, it looks like your main door is at the North. It is a serious flaw if the house has its main door facing a hill. Ideally, the main door should be a the frontage or many of the windows for the frontage are located here. Sometimes, the main door can be at either side i.e. East or West. If one purposely built the frontage facing …

Dear Stephaine, 1. I can quite understand your confusion on how to apply the various concepts that appears in various books - authors, FS practitioners. 2. On a macro level; it would be best to avoid `modern' day concepts on Feng Shui. Such as Ba Gua teachings or the use of Fixed templates. 3. Where possible, try to find out, where possible, whether certain forms of FS is based on `modern' day teachings or traditional forms of Feng Shui. I understand this may be difficult if one learns from a third party. But if it is through a book or site, try to avoid sites relating to Black Hat Sect FS. The clue is to check on the author's background and /or association especially wi…

Dear Mimi, Sound economic sense previals over Feng Shui with regards to setting up a business: 1. What is the pedestrian traffic flow to the shopping centre? 2. Is this shopping centre meant for a specific type of business e.g. electronics plaza? health/health science related shopping centre? 3. What is the business model / business plan i.e. is the business viable? Or is the business based on hope or a fad? 4. For example, three to four years back, I often receive calls from `businessmen' who wanted me to Feng Shui, their (Taiwanese) model of `bubble tea' outlets. 5. These bubble tea is roughly the equavalent of something like the western " milk shake " business. These …

Dear Wayne, 1. Yes, some Feng Shui books warn of living close to high power transmission lines. Here, some of these books quote the magnetic field coming from such lines as `unsafe' for health. 2. So far, if I am not mistaken, there were studies conducted even by Universities to say that there are no adverse effects on human beings. 3. This could also explain why, some of us are still `allowed' by the authorities to live close to these power-lines. 4. Under Commonsense approach to Feng Shui, it is always safer to stay clear of power towers. Not because of any ill effects (magnetic force) but rather, in an unlikely senario of the tower falling down e.g. due to high winds o…

  13. Hi Angela, Sorry, but didn't see any attached picture. So quite difficult to comment based on your description. Please re-attach the file. Generally, you need to be more concerned about the breadwinner (probably your husband). You need to ensure that the house faces at least one of your 4 good directions and have a suitable bedroom for the breadwinner. If the eight house is quite opposite, then at least house should suit the breadwinner while the bedroom should suit the spouse. Hope that helps. Dear Karen, 1. Red tile roof or clay coloured roof tile is a common preferred choice. 2. For painting the entire house, it is always best to paint the walls white or alternatively pastel shades of any other colour be it beige or cream - which are acceptable. 3. This is because, other than white or off-white; cream or beige or shades of it is often the choice of colour of architects and interior designers. So long as the colour(s) are light or pastel shades (making the wall bright) this should be acceptable. Here, the idea is (other than the bedroom) is to make the house `bright' rather than dark. 4. Another reason is that, if there is an imbalance at a particular sector,…

Dear Joanne, For a trailer, the most important area is the siting or site of the trailer. In my opinion, this has the most impact on your Feng Shui. Other than that, since it is considered small space, not much one can change the structure of the trailer. Depending on the nature of use of the trailer, if it is more for rest, after work, then, priority should be given to its location close to work, convenience store and its surroundings. Hopefully, the surroundings is not `dry' or unprotected e.g. barren land and no trees. Warmest Regards, Cecil

For a strong water person, (other than taking into considering the season of strength) the best colours are: Favourable: Wood i.e. green and brown The reason here is that wood well help a strong water person exhaust the "strong water" i.e. control it. Or the use of " Earth " element to destroy water. Earth colour is yellow or square shaped. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Bob, 1. For Compass School Feng Shui, it is always best to take a compass reading based on -- the magnetic compass readings. 2. Good compass such as some of the better brands e.g. Suunto (Finland) has a compass for the specific zone that each of us live in. 3. In fact, under the compass school of Feng Shui, it is always best to take readings away from any metal or reinforced concrete beams, as these can skew the reading as much as 10 to 15 degrees. Even a power station below some homes e.g. some apartments are built above a sub-power station. 4. Where best, the readings from external should be taken and matched with the interior. 5. Under the compass school, we have…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, this is of secondary importance unless: 1. the toilet is next to the main entrance (at the frontage of the house). 2. or at the center-point of the house. Where one of the toilet wall does not share an external wall. Both cases usually have characteristsics related to financial problems. 3. Otherwise, in most cases, nowadays, it is very common to have an ajoining toilet to the master bedroom. 4. If the toilet door is facing the bed, then symbollically, one can use a table stand with a table lamp. Here, this is symbolic of a `screen' or partition between the bed and the toiet. 5. In addition, even if the toilet bowl is not directly visible, one sh…

Perhaps, both of you should sleep separately and in your own favourable directions. Otherwise, position the bed to the direction of the less favourable party's auspicious direction if the bedroom is located favourable to the opposite party. East System favourable direction is N,S,SE,E. West System favourable direction is NE,NW,SW,W. The location of your stove is also an important consideration. The position of your entrance door should not be neglected.

Dear Dovie, One way of looking at things is: " I see, I like, I buy". If you find the tabletop water-point, nice, you can go ahead and purchase it. The above is based on `feelings' and intuition as opposed to the more complex analysis that one may do based on Traditional FS such as Flying Star (to check that a water position at a specific sector is acceptable or one's element and strength is suited to the above.) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Johnny, Thanks for bring up this interesting question: 1. When we talk about wealth area, it is good to look at macro Feng Shui. 2. In macro Feng Shui, the traditional way is to look at a land where the dragon Qi can flow from within the land mass towards the sea. 3. For example, many Chinese cities were built where the dragon Qi flows towards the sea. 4. Such as a river, which can be considered a dragon where it flows from high above and merge with the sea. 6. This is truly considered the `wealth area' where populations, can grow and `create wealth'. 7. For Hong Kong, many buildings especially if they are at the mouth of the sea, have a clear opening to allow such a…

Dear Rosemary, There is step-by-step guide as to how to apply the Eight House Theory under this link: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm More importantly, you should do the following: 1. Have a layout plan of your house. 2. Find the centrepoint of the house. 3. From the centrepoint plot in the exact compass direction i.e. North / South - East / West. 4. Get the eight house chart or use a transparency and write down each of the intangible forces on the layout plan. For more information, please refer to the aboce link. Warmest Regards, Cecil
