Dear Susan, 1. Yes, the degree of `accuracy' depends on the depth in which Feng Shui is analysed. As you have mentioned, a person's analysis can be done at a general level e.g. by looking at his/her YEAR of birth. On the other hand, at a more specific level is to look further into the YEAR, MONTH, DAY and HOUR of birth. 2. Traditionally, Feng Shui at the `health' of the `property' such as the environment, the site, the land, the building. It looks at the inanimate objects. 3. What you are referring to is Pillars of Destiny or equally called Eight Characters, Ba Zi or Four Pillars. 4. The reason is because the foundation of Traditional Chinese method is the Five Elements …

Dear Vivek, Thank you for your words of encouragements. Please see below:- For a weak metal person:- Favourable elements: Earth (yellow) and Metal (whitelgold) Unfavourable elements: Fire (red), water (blue/black/grey) Wealth element: Wood (green or brown). Please take note that for a weak metal person, wood is the wealth element. But caution here! A weak metal person has to FIRST increase the weak metal before, one can take advantage of or use Wood element for wealth. If not, wood will further aggrevate the situation. A weak person must therefore, strengthen their weak metal first. Five elements concept is all about balance. Usually when applying the element a…

I have a small kitchen and recently added a small metal shelving unit. Due to space constraints I had to put my cats' food and water bowls on the bottom shelf. I am concerned that the shelf above the "feeding shelf" will act as a beam or otherwise create negative feng shui for the cats. Any advice?

The concept of: Ashes to Ashes, dust to dust holds true for anything that has been cremated. Thus cremation is considered as : Neutral. As a mark of respect; often, place it somewhere that is not often disturbed. Need not display it. So long as not placed below one's bed or preferably not in one's bedroom is fine or OK. Often if one has a study, can be placed e.g. on a shelf perhaps next to the window etc... There are no hard or fast rule for such things. Thus "show respect" is a good idea, here.

Chris and Cecil, I would have to wonder if the personality of the animal wouldn't have an effect on the chi of the home. Some animals are very docile and sweet, while others are much more active and playful. Still others should have never been allowed to become pets and belong in zoos. (or the bottom of the ocean) I've been in homes where horrible animals "ruled the roost" and the people were mere servants of the animal. I can't believe that an animal like that doesn't produce his/her own little version of sha-chi. Of course it also can be argued that the home itself can be the cause of the animal's good or bad traits. (as well as helping the person living there b…

Dear Lousy Luck, Lousy Luck wrote: Hi, is it advisable to mount this painting on a ledge on the ceiling behind the main door (the phoenixes will be facing out of the house)? or should i put other image, like a painting of a dragon? Generally, the phoenix painting should face inwards. It should not be facing out of the house. A painting of the dragon would be more appropriate if you the painting is facing out of the house. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Dear Wasis, In my opinion, phone numbers are considered secondary and not of primary importance. In addition, there are many definitions of how auspicious or inauspicious a phone number can be. Since more phone numbers have not less than 6 or 7 digits, it would be most likely that there will be many combinations of numbers in our phone number. And some of these numbers may happen to be good or bad. Thus numerology calculations or formulas may defer greatly between many people... For me, I would just brush this aside... and keep my phone number since, many people are already aware of it. Another thing is that if one were to strongly belief on the formula provided; one ma…

Dear Vakta, Definitely not in a (sleeping) bedroom. Usually, it can either be placed in a "private" room such as the study or for the Chinese, it is quite common to be placed in the living room wall(s). But it is best not to place the photos facing the toilet, or share the toilet wall or face the dinning table. Warmest Regards, Cecil

    1. Frankly, especially if one is single, not only yourself but many teenagers have idols. And many of your age have pin-ups like what you have described. It is totally fine! 2. This is unlike a situation, where one is married and have this 60's pin-up in the master bedroom. Here, it would invite "jealousy" by one's partner! Especially if the only pin-up is of this lady and not your wife! Go ahead, to place the picture (photo)! Especially since it will make you happy and all these personalisation makes for a cosy room!

Dear Maria, In my opinion, this perhaps may have to do with symbolism. Perhaps, what you have read is that the particular author felt that photos above a fireplace could represent it being `burned' i.e. the fireplace represents fire. Any pictures above it may be symbolically `burned.' You could perhaps introduce a `neutral' element e.g. Earth e.g. pottery on the mantle piece of the fireplace. Especially, if one feels `uncomfortable' with it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. In my most recent posting, I elaborated on the Holy Trinity of Luck (Geomancy Luck). 2. The single most abused thing in Geomancy today has to do with a marketing ploy for us to purchase "stuffs". 3. If we analyse carefully, this area or the sale of products comes under Human or man luck. 4. The reason why products are touted today is that Geomancers will try to squeeze out as much as they can out of our (hard earned) money to "sell" or "promote" products. 5.Thus, many of us who had visitedFeng Shui sites before will come to expect that site has a products page with all sorts of products for sale. 6. Actually, such products costs very little to produce.…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Hi Master Lee, what element is a piano? Is it considered woodelement (because the outercasing and the keyboardis made ofwood)or metal element (because of the metalstrings inside) or water element(because it produces music)? In general, piano by itself is a furniture, depending on the material it is made the type of element can vary. However, when you use it to play music than the action is Water because it produces music. There isn't a real auspicious or specific feng shui location for piano location. It should be treated just as part of a furniture and place where it is most appropriate. ie usually close to the living room area for everyone/…

Dear Anon, For the bedroom, depending on the level of yin (rest) or yang (play or activity) you want you can use appropriate pictures in the room. Where possible, do not purchase pictures or paintings for the sake of enhancing `wealth' but rather, buy what you feel you enjoy (without any contraints) to Feng Shui other than: 1. do not buy pics/paintings of `fierce' animals with open mouths, of swords, swordplay. Ambigious paintings of unknown figures, shapes shadows. Other than these, buy paintings that you really really like. For the Chinese, calligraphy or word(s) with meaning for the living room. For the dinning room, some FS practitioners/clients are more particular a…
