Dear Max, 1. It would be best to look at the environment (other buildings), the site and building based on Shapes and Form FS. Therefore, it is quite difficult for me to comment on just a few things. 2. On a commercial level: 2.1 If the building is an existing building, perhaps, you may need to find out more.. how the previous tenants were fairing. Plus looking at rental amounts... 2.2 How is the pedestrian traffic like. It should also be related to the type of business that you are offering. 2.3 The above are more important considerations, first. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Avinash, Please refer to the attachment - file: layouta.gif You should take a compass reading at location A (looking at) point B. Once you determine the compass direction from A to B, you can then input the direction on a copy of a layout plan. With a protractor, you should then align it to the compass direction. For example, under layoutb.gif, if the main door is at 0 degrees, then you can add in the other compass directions. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sharon, Generally, when there are two doors facing each door, it is said that there will be more quarrels between the two occupants. Especially if they are extremely close to each other. In your case a life door, though it isn't a house, but you will have lot of people enter in and out of the lift and if it faces your home, in a non-feng shui point of view there will be some lack of privacy. If the lift is a distance away shouldn't be much of an issue to worry about. Otherwise, best thing you may do is to keep the door close when not entering in and out of the house. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I have recently renovated my house. My kitchen wall & floor tiles is orange red. My kitchen worktop table is black colour.I have heard thattoo much red colour is not good feng shui for kitchen. Is this true ? If yes , what can I do about it ? Too much of any single colour isn't good. In feng shui, the idea is to create a balance and harmony. This means that you need to have a balance of all five elements. Only then will you get perfect harmony. In terms of a single room decoration, it is best to always have at least two or three elements. Preferably three elements, because it will create an auspicious five element flow. ie water - H…

Dear Doris, To be pretty honest: there is often no right or wrong answers. Nor one camp can ever overwhelm the other to consider exactly what colors fit which elements. For example, it is very straight forward that all the primary colors such as (often those found on the color tv) e.g. Green, Blue and Red. And some also consider Yellow a primary color). From a hot-cold continuum or spectrum, colors would range from the hot end (Red) to the cold end (Blue or white). Grey is interesting. Because silver looks silver to us. But in my country, all our paper notes have a security thread -- threaded into each paper note. Humans when eyeing the notes will certainly see a g…

Dear Susan, It is interesting to review the poll results under: http://www.geomancy.net/poll/poll.pl In this url, you can find the poll on TV set facing the bed. It is felt that some of us are more sensitive to having a mirror facing the bed then others. While for some people, this may not be an issue. Usually, the advise is that a mirror (relection) or in your case a full-length mirror (should) preferably not face any part of the bed. If, so far, you can sleep well in the bedroom then, I personally feel that you need not change the full-height mirror. Alternatively, if you are wanting to change it, this can still be done or you may want to consider using an opaque film/p…

Dear Diane, Since you do not use the main entrance, this should be ok. But if you are using the carpark entrance, try to relate the qi flow from this into the house. Is it possible for you to provide a sketch, for a better understanding of the situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Gagan, 1. Usually, this is due to the sickness #2 and/or #5 (Flying Star Theory) within certain areas of your home particuarly the bedroom. 2. In general, without much investigations using the above theory, you could try placing 6 i-ching coins tied with a red string and hang it above the room. (Usually, an FS audit should be done in such situations to determine the exact location). However, you may try to place it around the bed area. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Donna, Apologise, but if you can provide a rough sketch which includes: 1. Location of : main gate; from the gate to the main entrance. Or photo (nice to have) 2. Where is the main door and a sketch of the outline of the house and what is on each side and back of the house. I hope u can understand that no two homes may be similar and I personally feel, the more the detail provided, the better it is to have a better understanding of your situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Jacuqeline, In my opinion, perhaps, the breakdown of electrical appliances may be a coincidence. Especially if it is a rented place and is not most of the items are not new. Perhaps, it is best to monitor the situation, first. Since you are new to Feng Shui, do try to read up more - especially on the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Josephine, In such cases, I am sure that besides the unsuitability to the house, there must also be some flying star problems. You mentioned, that the bedroom is in the East. There is inauspicious star there at least until 1 Feb 2003. I am not sure what other stars are in the sector, but you should fix up the flying star problems. Probably my guess is that there are also inauspicious 5/2 in the base star as well. These problems together will usually create such problems as Health. Dear Anon, I can understand your concern. But, are you "buying" the business or studying in the institute. To be honest, when taking a course, most of us depend more on our "study / examination technique" than from the school in which we are considering studying in. Most of the questions that you had posed requires an on-site audit to determine e.g. the suitability of facade facilities and design(s). What is equally more important is the type of course that you are considering, which has an impact on your keeness, future earnings and a satisfactory career. Cheers! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jason, For a bedroom, we should look at it from the perspective of: "nice-to-have" or "must-(should)-have". Often, many of our bedrooms are small, and furthermore, there are "restrictions" such as having windows and there is also the bedroom door. Because of all these constraints, there are few if any best positions to place the bed. More importantly, between the two schools: Shapes and Forms or Compass School (Eight house), the most important consideration is based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Here, Shapes and Forms Feng Shui should be considred as "must-should-have". While the eight house concept would have to be considered as "nice-to-have". Often, realisti…

Dear Stan, Frankly, too many ba gua mirror is an overkill. As mentioned in the earlier e-mail, sometimes, many of us like to hear `nice' things. Often, these are more of Ren Cai or man or human luck. It may make us feel good (perhaps a short while) but when it does not work - who do we blame? This is why, many Feng Shui practitioners are often act more like `counsellors' than Feng Shui practitioners. Often, this is a psychological thing. For example, often after every of my audit, the client (Chinese) would ask : where is my `wealth corner'. I can understand that it would certainly make one feel nice to have such a corner or that such a corner existed. And some practit…

Dear Sophia, Not many know that in the past, elephants had roamed China and they were very common within the North and South of China. A set of elephants actually represent a "source" of strength. And often, the elephant is decorated with motifs and thus considered as bringing fortune to the family. The elephant is both revered in Thailand (especially the white elephant) as well as is one of the gods of the Indians. It is Ok to have a pairfacing or looking outwards. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jane, Frankly, looking at most of the messages in this forum, I have this to say: "Gua or Kua is not a cure-all". Often, I find users quoting their Gua numbers and expect miracles to happen. Or totally disappointed that it cannot do much. I have often elaborated to apply the three-step approach: Step 1: What is the PURPOSE of each concept? Step 2: What is it's strengths? Step 3: What is it's weakness? There are two senarios: 1. Either the family has nothing better to do than to complaint or 2. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, most probably; they have #3 or #4 at the main door etc... Here, there is relatively not much one can do `to be placed' at their home. Other than if…

Dear Anon, Actually, the gift of "chopsticks" isrelatively new. I hope, you don't mind me frankly letting you know:- In the past, it was not wise to lend or give chopsticks because of it has a similar sound like "zhu" or "halt". Thus is especially not good or an appropriategift. It is especially best to keep the gift or store it away. Nowadays, there is another set of "chopsticks" gift i.e. two chopsticks placed ontop of a bowl - kept in a glass display frame. This is again not favourable. This is similar to one praying to the dead ancestor i.e. it's offering to the dead. And this is thus also considered very inauspicious. Since chopsticks does not have any good mea…

Hi, Basically, for the Eight House, any of the 4 directions are suitable for that person. It does not mean that a West house person must stay in the West house only or a East house person must stay in the East house. The purpose of 4 good and 4 bad directions is to give you a flexibility to choose a home suitable to the breadwinner. Given that a house has to suite the breadwinner first as he is considered the head of the house earning most to sustain the entire family. So as long as the house falls within any of the 4 good direction (ie Excellent, Prosperity, Health or Longevity) it is considered an auspicious home for that period. One note here. West facing homes unfo…

Hello Experts.. Would you be kind enough to advise me on the correct directional placement of small Buddha statues. I have a wooden one 6 inches tall in my study and several smaller jade statues around the house. My house faces due north, as does my study. I live in the southern hemisphere. I have been told this affects many aspects of our existence. Is this true? I almost have no money and I am told this will assist in creating wealth if the statues are facing the correct direction. With thanks and thoughts,, Anon

Dear Ryan, Under Feng Shui, there is a concept which I termed the 33.3% ruleset. Under this concept, anything not larger than 33.3 percent normally would not pose any effect on the surrounding. For example, of a `missing corner' in a building. It has to be 33.3 percent `missing' from the sector of the house. This is why, usually when we paint the wall, and if we paint quite a large area of a room it would normally exceed 33.3 percent. In the same parallel, the little turtles would usually not have any effect. Therefore, place it somewhere both you and your girlfriend feels comfortable with. (Other than the bedroom). Warmest Regards, Cecil
