Dear Yoyo, Please see below:- Here, usually, one would have a back (side partition) or back cabinet. If so, this is an acceptable configuration. And, many office cublices or rooms have this type of configuration. - Not to worry too much. Frankly, both are the same. But a clock has utility i.e. looking at time. While a music pendulum, simply makes a repeated sound. Both are ok. But, in my opinion, I am not too sure if the music pendulum is made to last that long (perhaps if it runs on battery?) as compared to a pendulum clock. Frankly, I have not used a music pendulum, so cannot really fully comment on it. Warmest Regards Cecil

Dear Dragana, 1. Under the Eight Aspirations concept, the career sector is `suppose' to be located at the North and not south. 2. Overall, do not be overly concerned with fixed template as it is not considered reliable as it is too general to be of use (effective use or application). 3. Thank you also for the layout plan. From what I can see, there is one problem which is the toilet is next to the main door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Pamela, 1. What you brought up is quite an interesting subject. 2. Most of the time, if you had sought advise from Feng Shui practitioners, it seems that it is always a `No-no' to place swords. 3. Because symbollically it has sharp edges and for two reasons:- Commonsense approach -------------------- It is like having a loaded gun in the house. Especially with children around - may perhaps be considered safer, placing it away from them. E.g. in locked glass shelves. The sharp edges of the swords ----------------------------- Usually, this is not preferred as it symbolises disharmony. 4. Given the two, I would prefer to look at it from a commonsense approach as it ma…

Dear Anon, Thank you for your clarification. 1. Techically, what I said was correct. However, a mountain star (if it is found) should be activated instead at the back portion of the house. For example, in your situation, where you had mentioned that you have activated a mountain over the `frontage'. Do remove the `mountain' at the frontage even if it is on the second storey. Symbolically, it is not corret to do so. We do not want a mountain blocking our `water' or clear space. A mountain star (if found) should be activated e.g. on the opposite wall from this position or any other walls that are at the back facing. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jennifer, Try to do abit more homework to check for any other leaks in the home. Most common `major' leaks are:- 1. Location of toilet (at centre-point or next to main door area). 2. When entering main door, one can see the back (or qi flows impeded from front door to the back. 3. Stand inside the house i.e. stand at the main door looking out of the house and also from all various windows lookig out of the house. 4. As you had mentioned - external Shapes and Forms of the house. Are there any other inauspicious Shapes and Forms? Please see below:- At behind of the house:- a. Is there any water positions e.g. swimming pools? b. Is there a solid wall at the back of …

  6. Started by wasis,

A row of bush rather than a partition of trees would be a better choice. If you are using trees, they usually end up growing tall and `beyond control' after 3 to 4 years. And a row of trees need to be planted spaced out at least 2 to 3 feet from each other. Depending on the type of tree, they often leave behind a huge area of shadow below the tree making the area, too yin. Contrast this with lower shrubs or bushes or simply, creepers on fencing which are much easier to maintain. Since the water tanks are covered up often this is no longer a major issue. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Wasis, 1. Becareful of the placement of dragon figurine or painting. 2. Check the number of claws on it. If there are five, then, it is considered very `yang'. Here, one is not familiar with the dragon (figurine or painting) - one should treat it more like `Ba Gua mirror' and not face inwards of the house. 3. In Hong Kong, it is said that it has nine dragons. Dragon landscape or dragon qi is usually coming from e.g. a hill or landscape and winding down a river or from a hill down to the `sea'. In Hong Kong, a hotel had created an opening from the back thru the glass panels into the sea. Another good example, is `The Sterling' condominium in Singapore. ( Do a search f…

Dear Cecil, Today I went to Chinese art shops to find bottle gourds. All I found are attached with pictures such as swastika, Kwan Im, Ba Gua & Tiger. What do you think about the pictures on them? Some of them have holes at the top. I bought one with Kwan Im picture. I think it is more neutral than one with Ba Gua & Tiger pictures. However, mine doesn't have a hole at the top. Should I make one hole? Does size matter? Thanks in advance. Dear Anon, On your part, you can try to continue to have a reasonable communication with your husband. (Not based on yelling or screaming or on bad things). Sorry, I am not a counsellor, but usually, many times, couples with already two children can bring in your two children. Or try to reason the continual of the marriage for both your two children's sake. Please see below on Feng Shui issues:- Yes, there are many times when there is a direct path between the main door to the backyard area. I am not sure if the wood shutter covers can still allow air to flow freely from the main door to the back. If it is not `air-tight', there is still a leak from this area. Pe…

Dear Susan, In my opinion, this is a rudimentary way of looking at analysing Ba Zi. Overall, what you did does not take into considerations:- harms, punishments, double and triple combinations of elements (which some are good while others are not favourable to one's element. Basic Ba Zi also includes, the Year, Day, Month, Hour of birth. But professional Ba Zi has to include not only the above but also two other pillars : House of Life and House of Conception. Perhaps, you can learn more about what Full Ba Zi analysis looks like under this url:- http://sg.geomancy.net/consultation/consult-others/fullbazianalysis.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Serene, The purpose of the mountain star is symbolic of having a `mountain support' at the `back' of the house. For example, one must not activate a mountain, say at the main door. Here, it is like blocking clear space. Please see below:- It is good that you had added a divider between the main door and the window/balcony area. If not, there is a major leak. For the dining table, perhaps, you may not have drawn to scale. As it looks quite crammed where one of the chairs nearly meet the living room area. If it does, than, you may consider turning the table 90 degrees. I may be mistaken. If the current space is spacious, then, your current layout is ok. Yes, I can …

Dear Peck Wun, Frankly, there is no issue with trying to repaint the wrought iron grille. In many situations, unless, it is a major clash or the colours are out of the ordinary e.g. bright red or bright blue. The `natural' colour of what is suppose to be wrought iron grille colour is overall an acceptable colour. Since it has both gold and black. Gold represents metal and black represents water. Metal and Water are acceptable combinations. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Daren, You mentioned that your house is facing West. In all instances of West House:- W1 (247.5-262.4) - West Main Door Facing (255) W2 (262.5-277.4) - West Main Door Facing (270) W3 (277.5-292.4) - West Main Door Facing (285) In all the above instances, overall, under the Eight House, the house is considered unsuitable as it is your disaster sector. Check to see which intangible force is affecting you in your bedroom. This is an initial finding. Usually, there are other `leaks' involved and should be corrected. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In Feng Shui practise, if your office table is in a position to look out to a corridor or an open window into the rest of the office area, one may consider a pair of dragon figurines aimed outwards. Note: that this is not always applicable to everyone. There is a difference between Weak or Strong Earth element as shown below:- Birth Element: Weak Earth Favourable Element/Colour: Fire (red), Earth (yellow) Unfavourable Element/Colour: Wood (green/brown), Metal (white/gold) Wealth Element/Colour: Water (blue/black/gray) NOTE: Wealth element auspicious only if you are a Strong Earth, otherwise it will bring you lots of problem Birth Element: Strong Earth …

Do you see what I mean? \/\/\/\/\screen ____ |____|table I also wanted to ask you: sometimes, blue is said to be wood and sometimes, water. Sometimes, brown is said to be wood and toerhs earth. Which is it? I read that water fourntians in the center of a home can be harmful becasue it drains away qi. SI this true? My final question: There's a building in Hong kong that sits on a hill and has a big square hole through the center of it. It looks like this from the front…

Dear Juliet, 1. First of all, welcome to the forum. 2. Most of us sincerely believe, and I personally do, that all one can ask is an honest living. 3. In my opinion, door to door sales is quite tough. But again, selling cutlery is truely an honest living and should be seen in that context. 4. There is really no issue nor inauspicous with regards to this. So far, the only auspicious beliefs are in relation to gifts:- It is a no no to give a loved one either shoes or a clock. 5. In Feng Shui, the only other issue is more of a common sense, in to living any sharp knifes around. This is especially not safe for younger children. Wishing you all the best in whatever you do:) …

Dear Carlos, Sometimes indeed we may have a hard time figuring out an element of an object. But, it does not necessarily mean that an object should only have one element. In your case, please see below:- Hexagonal shape is often regarded as `Earth element'. While the glass cover, because of its density (e.g. tempered glass) can be considered as `Metal' element. Yellow cloth can be consdered as the `Earth' element. Following, what was mentioned in the earlier responses, rather than be specific with just one material, one can have a combination of these to make up the Five elemets concept. To answer your question, since your table has quite a lot of elements, and i…

Dear Anon, If your house is not too big, then, one should not try to divide each room into sectors. But instead, look at the centrepoint of the house. From the centrepoint, you should be able to properly determine where is the North, NE, South etc... of each area. For a start, it is best to understand fundamental Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. As usually, this is one of the key ingredients or one of the key success factors in the Feng Shui of any house. After this, than, you can explore the use of the Eight House etc... There are some resources at: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm And if you are in no hurry, try to understand more, before `jumping the wagon' into Feng …

Dear Sor Lan, There are three alternatives to your situation:- A. The use of bamboo flutes hung in such a method:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/mypictures.cgi?img=0&search=flute&cat=all&bool=and&x=6&y=16 B. Please see attached two photos:- One photo shows a support strut. While another shows two bamboo flutes `holding' up the beam. For the support strut, it can be a simple arch construction.
