Dear Ryan, Under Feng Shui, there is a concept which I termed the 33.3% ruleset. Under this concept, anything not larger than 33.3 percent normally would not pose any effect on the surrounding. For example, of a `missing corner' in a building. It has to be 33.3 percent `missing' from the sector of the house. This is why, usually when we paint the wall, and if we paint quite a large area of a room it would normally exceed 33.3 percent. In the same parallel, the little turtles would usually not have any effect. Therefore, place it somewhere both you and your girlfriend feels comfortable with. (Other than the bedroom). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Liza, Honestly, my parents were matched-made, and thus no choice in the selection of partners. But like many people, the key success to a marriage is that two "Hands" must clap-together. The danger about reading too much astrology is for fear of: Auto-suggestion and the other self-fulfilling prophercy. Our life is what we make of it. Many of the ingredients in life include: 1. Give-and-take (give and receive) It is said that the most used word in the English dictionary is " I ". (self). Thus, if one only sees that we ourselves are the only one giving but not take, then one day, we may just "blow" up literally. 2. Listening ear Have a listening ear to your partner…

Dear Anon, I can understand your concern. But, are you "buying" the business or studying in the institute. To be honest, when taking a course, most of us depend more on our "study / examination technique" than from the school in which we are considering studying in. Most of the questions that you had posed requires an on-site audit to determine e.g. the suitability of facade facilities and design(s). What is equally more important is the type of course that you are considering, which has an impact on your keeness, future earnings and a satisfactory career. Cheers! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Carlos, Sometimes indeed we may have a hard time figuring out an element of an object. But, it does not necessarily mean that an object should only have one element. In your case, please see below:- Hexagonal shape is often regarded as `Earth element'. While the glass cover, because of its density (e.g. tempered glass) can be considered as `Metal' element. Yellow cloth can be consdered as the `Earth' element. Following, what was mentioned in the earlier responses, rather than be specific with just one material, one can have a combination of these to make up the Five elemets concept. To answer your question, since your table has quite a lot of elements, and i…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, it is best to look at "fatal" problems under the following perspective: 1. Often, fatal problems especially those that lead to financial loss does not come alone. For example, a toilet at the main entrance is considered as - already a handicap. This is akin to one having a fractured leg. 2. It would become worse especially if the house does not fit the breadwinner. Plus other additional leaks. Such as additional toilets at the centrepoint etc... 3. Another issue is that a toilet has connecting sewer and water pipes. And especially if one is living in an apartment, it is difficult or impossible to move a toilet. Therefore, when I mentioned `fatal…

Dear Vijay, In my opinion, there are many other factors that can influence the sale of your house. Overall, the main factors are: 1. Location, location, location. 2. Selling price & market conditions. 3. Luck factor - however, there are said to be many forms of luck. Chinese divinity uses Pillars of Destiny (map out Heaven's luck) and try to increase this. 4. For Feng Shui, if there are salient or good points of the house under Feng Shui; one may try to `sell' this as value added - provided the buyer can be convinced about Feng Shui and good points about it. Sometimes, if the house is not so good, this can however backfire. 5. For a new good house, you can try out th…

Dear Jane, Frankly, looking at most of the messages in this forum, I have this to say: "Gua or Kua is not a cure-all". Often, I find users quoting their Gua numbers and expect miracles to happen. Or totally disappointed that it cannot do much. I have often elaborated to apply the three-step approach: Step 1: What is the PURPOSE of each concept? Step 2: What is it's strengths? Step 3: What is it's weakness? There are two senarios: 1. Either the family has nothing better to do than to complaint or 2. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, most probably; they have #3 or #4 at the main door etc... Here, there is relatively not much one can do `to be placed' at their home. Other than if…

Dear Tulip, 1. In my opinion, the most important thing to do is to make sure that the position of the bed conforms firstly to Shapes and Form Feng Shui. 2. This is where, the bed should preferably not be placed on the same wall as the bed. 3. Preferably, the bed sould be on the opposite wall as the bedroom door. 4. It should not be on the same wall as the toilet bowl. 5. The placement of bed to `conform' to the Eight House Theory should be of SECONDARY importance ONLY after Shapes and Form Feng Shui has been taken into consideration. 6. One should avoid placing the bed at odd angles such as e.g. at a 45 degree angle leaving a triangle `hollow' at the back of the bedroom …

Dear Winn, In general, without further detailed analysis, there is (in my opinion) relatively `low risks' or harm in placing 6 coins on the door knob. As mentioned in various forum messages, majority of cures is the use of METAL element. A little more METAL, should not create problems for many. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Thank you for your layout plan. 1. Based on Shapes and Form FS (without consideration to other Schools), in my opinion, I would prefer bedroom 1, which is above the laundry area as opposed to bedroom 2, above the kitchen. 2. Attached please find the layout plan: house.jpg which shows the preferred position of the bed in bedroom 1 and 2. Marked by a rectanglar in RED and in BLUE. Depending on the window position, the head of bed if possible is preferred not to rest against a window. 3. I have marked the centrepoint of the home. Even if you are just renting a bedroom, you can take a compass reading of the house and check the `Eight House' of your room to see whet…

  17. Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, it is difficult to redress a sloping ceiling unless one physically remodel it to a flat roof or use a four poster bed with cloth or lace hanging on the top of the 4 poster support. 2. Usually, a full FS audit would be used to check on the house and there are certain interpretations of the mountain/water star combinations which in some cases reflect "romance" or show an interpretation of romance. Some houses when Feng Shuied may reveal good romance while others bad. Some houses do not reflect any combinations of romance sector. Therefore, Flying Star may or may not reflect these. 3. I therefore, cannot say for sure if the house has any effect. …

Dear Mimi, Please see below:- Of course, the other important consideration is that Water feature should be placed in open spaced area. Dear Allison, Under Traditional Feng Shui, the two major schools used are: 1. Shapes and Form 2. Compass School (Eight House & Flying Star) In my opinion, the most accurate Feng Shui is the use of (Para 1 and 2) in combination with one's Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny) - in particular one's element and strength. 3. This is what is know as Ba Zi Feng Shui. It is widely used system as it is considered the most accurate. As it not only takes into account " Feng Shui " of the house but it also takes into account the persons who intent to live or are currently living in the house. 4. For a start, the key word is `protect, protect, protect'. You should stand at your main entran…

Hi Anon, Yes. The Auspicious Date for 12 months uses tong shu and ba zi to find suitable dates to an individual. Included in the package is 1 Yearly Report which allows you to generate a yearly auspicious to show you which months are better and which dates in the month are auspicious or inauspicious. The Monthly Report does more in-depth analysis into a particular month. You are given 12 credits to allow you to find generate 12 different months for a single person, or 12 different months for 12 persons. How you use the credit is up to you. All you need is the Name, Gender, Date of birth, optional (Time of Birth), and which the month and year you are generating for. Hope t…

  21. Started by ingrid,

Dear Ingrid, In my opinion, it is difficult to apply Feng Shui to small spaces. The rationale is because Feng Shui of the home is also about `earth luck'. And a small room does not constitute a large portion of `earth luck'. The focus in your situation is that so long as you try to keep your room under: 1. Favourable shapes and form Feng Shui e.g. positioning of your bed. 2. Whether your personal space should be more Yin or more Yang or at times more Yin or more Yang. For example, for those who are working and come home to rest, the room should preferably be more yin (state of rest) than yang. While for a student, it should be more yang... to encourage the person to st…

Dear Anon, 1. This year and next year based on the Lunar Calendar:- This year: 24 Jan 2001 to 11 Feb 2002 Next year: 12 Feb 2002 to 31 Jan 2003 We have to remember that the above dates should be considered instead of the start of each year. Thus `next year' does not start on 1 January 2002 but rather the first day of Chinese New Year or 12 February 2002. Please see below:- This year (2001 - refer to Para 1), which is the year of the Snake, the Grand Duke or Tai Su is located at South-South-East or 150 degrees. The location in conflict is the East. Next year (2002 - refer to Para 1), this is the year of the Horse. or South, 180 degrees. The location in conflic is the N…

When applying the Compass School of Feng Shui or taking reference of each direction; one should locate the center-of-gravity of the home. From this centrepoint, locate the west compass direction (270 degrees). This will be the direction of The Grand Duke/Tai Sui of a site or home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: In hunting for an apartment, is high-rise or low-rise building better? Is there anything to do with qi flow? In general, higher floors are generally more popular because firstly it gives a good view (usually unblocked by other flats). Also, under flying star above 7th floor onwards, it is always said that your frontage (usually the living room/balcony) contains virtual water (open space). Thus, usually higher floor is more popular. As for whether which is better in terms of Feng Shui, you have to really check out the environment in relation to the unit to determine which is better. Doesn't mean that lower floor means not as good. Some low flo…

  25. Dear Anon, As there are various concepts and theories that affect this, perhaps, you may have to consider elimination:- For a start: 1. Stand at the main entrance and look out of it. Look for any poison arrow aimed at the main entrance such as a lone lamp post or any sharp objects e.g. neighbour' roof. Do the same for each window. 2. At the frontage of the house, are there lots of doors e.g. a set of main entrance door and many sliding doors. Here, too much doors or windows can make the house out of balanced and caused such problems. The above are two primary concerns under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. If the above not issues, than, more likely, it could be due to the birt…
