Dear Tulip, 1. In my opinion, the most important thing to do is to make sure that the position of the bed conforms firstly to Shapes and Form Feng Shui. 2. This is where, the bed should preferably not be placed on the same wall as the bed. 3. Preferably, the bed sould be on the opposite wall as the bedroom door. 4. It should not be on the same wall as the toilet bowl. 5. The placement of bed to `conform' to the Eight House Theory should be of SECONDARY importance ONLY after Shapes and Form Feng Shui has been taken into consideration. 6. One should avoid placing the bed at odd angles such as e.g. at a 45 degree angle leaving a triangle `hollow' at the back of the bedroom …

Dear Anon, Thank you for your layout plan. 1. Based on Shapes and Form FS (without consideration to other Schools), in my opinion, I would prefer bedroom 1, which is above the laundry area as opposed to bedroom 2, above the kitchen. 2. Attached please find the layout plan: house.jpg which shows the preferred position of the bed in bedroom 1 and 2. Marked by a rectanglar in RED and in BLUE. Depending on the window position, the head of bed if possible is preferred not to rest against a window. 3. I have marked the centrepoint of the home. Even if you are just renting a bedroom, you can take a compass reading of the house and check the `Eight House' of your room to see whet…

  3. Dear Anon, As there are various concepts and theories that affect this, perhaps, you may have to consider elimination:- For a start: 1. Stand at the main entrance and look out of it. Look for any poison arrow aimed at the main entrance such as a lone lamp post or any sharp objects e.g. neighbour' roof. Do the same for each window. 2. At the frontage of the house, are there lots of doors e.g. a set of main entrance door and many sliding doors. Here, too much doors or windows can make the house out of balanced and caused such problems. The above are two primary concerns under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. If the above not issues, than, more likely, it could be due to the birt…

Dear Yasmin, 1. Usually, and most often, decorating a home or doing all the planning and shifting to a new home can be `taxing' considering that, one has to get on with our lives e.g. work, family commitments. 2. If one is applying Feng Shui and choice of colours, it should not be an issue; since, a proper reading can tell which colours are best for both parties e.g. binding element: best colour for the master bedroom, and colours for the living/dining and even colour scheme for other family members. 3. Otherwise, any other type of application of Feng Shui is akin to `throwing' a random dice. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Vijay, In my opinion, there are many other factors that can influence the sale of your house. Overall, the main factors are: 1. Location, location, location. 2. Selling price & market conditions. 3. Luck factor - however, there are said to be many forms of luck. Chinese divinity uses Pillars of Destiny (map out Heaven's luck) and try to increase this. 4. For Feng Shui, if there are salient or good points of the house under Feng Shui; one may try to `sell' this as value added - provided the buyer can be convinced about Feng Shui and good points about it. Sometimes, if the house is not so good, this can however backfire. 5. For a new good house, you can try out th…

  7. Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, it is difficult to redress a sloping ceiling unless one physically remodel it to a flat roof or use a four poster bed with cloth or lace hanging on the top of the 4 poster support. 2. Usually, a full FS audit would be used to check on the house and there are certain interpretations of the mountain/water star combinations which in some cases reflect "romance" or show an interpretation of romance. Some houses when Feng Shuied may reveal good romance while others bad. Some houses do not reflect any combinations of romance sector. Therefore, Flying Star may or may not reflect these. 3. I therefore, cannot say for sure if the house has any effect. …

Dear Mimi, Please see below:- Of course, the other important consideration is that Water feature should be placed in open spaced area. Meaning it should as far as possible be placed in say the living room with a larger area, or preferbly outside of the house (especially the frontage of the house). Warmest Regards, Cecil

  9. Started by carhu,

Dear Carlos, Sometimes indeed we may have a hard time figuring out an element of an object. But, it does not necessarily mean that an object should only have one element. In your case, please see below:- Hexagonal shape is often regarded as `Earth element'. While the glass cover, because of its density (e.g. tempered glass) can be considered as `Metal' element. Yellow cloth can be consdered as the `Earth' element. Following, what was mentioned in the earlier responses, rather than be specific with just one material, one can have a combination of these to make up the Five elemets concept. To answer your question, since your table has quite a lot of elements, and i…

  10. Started by myfs_59074,

Dear Faten, 1. Feng Shui and other Chinese divinity methods is about trying to increase our `LUCK'. 2. Overall, we have commented usually only about the interior of the home. 3. Factors such as the Shapes and Form of the site, the external environment need to be taken into consideration. Plus other `LUCK' factors that may not have been taken into consideration. 4. Therefore, as you had mentioned only, we are currently `focused' only about part of the `LUCK' or a percentage of the overall `LUCK'. Thus one may still achieve overall luck in other areas. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Danny, 1. The key to applying Flying star Feng Shui is to see where is the "mouth" of the house. Or the location where there is e.g. most light coming into the home. Or if one has a habit of often opening the main door, sometimes, this can be the facing direction, also. For example, SW1 under period 8 enjoys very good sum-of-ten Flying star feng shui etc... As usual, you must find out or learn more about this theory to benefit when you do up your home. Or do consult a fs practitioner on this matter. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  12. Started by ingrid,

Dear Ingrid, In my opinion, it is difficult to apply Feng Shui to small spaces. The rationale is because Feng Shui of the home is also about `earth luck'. And a small room does not constitute a large portion of `earth luck'. The focus in your situation is that so long as you try to keep your room under: 1. Favourable shapes and form Feng Shui e.g. positioning of your bed. 2. Whether your personal space should be more Yin or more Yang or at times more Yin or more Yang. For example, for those who are working and come home to rest, the room should preferably be more yin (state of rest) than yang. While for a student, it should be more yang... to encourage the person to st…

  13. Dear Rudresh, In my opinion: 1. India like China has one of the oldest civilisation. These two countries have some of oldest civilisation. 2. In fact, in the Chinese tale of "Journey to the West"; a Chinese monk of the Tang dynasty was given the task to go to India to obtain holy scriptures. 3. This does show that there is much to be learned from Indian culture. 4. Since China and India are close neighbours, there is indeed much trade and cutural exchanges. 5. I believe, (for now) Indian vasthu is not as contaminated or highly commercialised as " Feng Shui " of today. It is because of the highly commercialised `Feng Shui' what with FAST FOOD FENG SHUI and marketing geni…

Dear Winn, In general, without further detailed analysis, there is (in my opinion) relatively `low risks' or harm in placing 6 coins on the door knob. As mentioned in various forum messages, majority of cures is the use of METAL element. A little more METAL, should not create problems for many. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, In my opinion, go for the alternative that makes you more comfortable. For mirrors on doors or wall, frankly, one can still do something e.g. temporary pasting of a poster or buying off the self opaque film that can be placed on the mirrors. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Frankly, this has not much to do with the need to place a symbolic object to "neutralise it". But rather, this issue has more to do with the "Commonsense approach" to Feng Shui. This is because, most of the time, it was felt that chances of a fire occuring in a home -- the most likely occurence could be from the kitchen. And since fire and heat travel upwards, this is our main concern. But in modern times, I would rather "invest" in having smoke detector(s) -- if you have not one already fitted than the bottle gourd. Here, there is a good chance that (touch-wood) in the event of a fire -- the smoke detector would go off and warn us. But the bottle gourd …

Can these two areas still be used for their purpose as dining and bedroom? or do we need to move out of these areas?? Btw, mine is period 8 house. Thanks many!!! Dinning room stars not as bad as there is star 6 to exhaust or control the Strong Earth. However, it still good to have more Metal (white/gold) to enhaust the strong Earth. Even some Water element (blue/black/gray) will be good as it helps to create more wealth in that sector and create a Earth - Having bad stars does n…

Dear Wasis, 1. The term " Flying Star Feng Shui " and " Xuan Kong Feng Shui " is one and the same. 2. In fact, if one looks carefully at the naming convention in this forum, under the topic header "Flying Star (Xuan Kong Fei Xing)" one will come to understand that Flying Star is indeed Xuan Kong Fei Xing. 3. As money plants prefer some shade, in country which is near the equator, and subject to direct sunlight; it is very common to see money plants planted just below expressway flyovers i.e. the shaded ground. These money plants grow very well such that they look like a vast carpet `grass' covering these areas. As to whether one can plant a money plant in the soil; it can…

Eear Alicia, Please see below:- As spoken, last week. The best height is 110cm (first choice). The next best choice if you want it close the the headboard measurement is 104.5cm. If you want it higher, 43 inches is acceptable. But not necessarily too high. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Liza, Honestly, my parents were matched-made, and thus no choice in the selection of partners. But like many people, the key success to a marriage is that two "Hands" must clap-together. The danger about reading too much astrology is for fear of: Auto-suggestion and the other self-fulfilling prophercy. Our life is what we make of it. Many of the ingredients in life include: 1. Give-and-take (give and receive) It is said that the most used word in the English dictionary is " I ". (self). Thus, if one only sees that we ourselves are the only one giving but not take, then one day, we may just "blow" up literally. 2. Listening ear Have a listening ear to your partner…

Dear Anon, Usually for each sharp pointed design aimed at your flat, there is not much choice but to counter it. Thus, if there is one sharp pointed edge pointed at a specific window, one mirror can be used there. But if there is another sharp pointed object, another one should be used at another window. There is really not much choice, here. Warmest Regards, Cecil

I have read with interest the various questions sent to the forum recently regarding Windchimes, Coins, Eight Life Aspirations etc. etc. and would like to tell my story. In 1997 I became interested in FS and started reading whatever books I could get on the subject. I then followed what was said, wind chime here, coins there, plant here, water there and the list went on. To say my family experienced many problems is putting it mildly. I urge fellow forum members to take heed of the advice Cecil and Robert give you in relation to "Fast Food Feng Shui" as believe me, disaster WILL strike. Glyn

Dear Anon, The idea behind using the hulu or bottle gourd is to "suck away" bad elements. Thus it is often placed in a toilet or next to the toilet bowl e.g. if the toilet is at the centrepoint of the house. Or often placed in a bedroom to counter "sickness" stars such as #2 sickness and/or #5 misfortune/sickness stars. Thus it is not placed based on the situation you had mentioned, below. Warmest Regards, Cecil
