Dear Mabel, 1. For sleeping position, it is best that your head points to the good direction and feet to the opposite direction. ie if your good sleeping position is North, then ideally your Head should be North and Feet should be South. 2. For work or study is different. You should be sitting where you point to the North and back facing the South if your auspicious work/study direction is North.
