Dear Anon, 1. Thanks for your sketch of your plot of land. 2. Overall, your plot is not a `worst case' senario. Frankly, it is quite common to find such a layout plan. And in many situations, there should not be an issue here. Provided, here is no canal or large drain at the back of the house. Planting trees behind the house is a consideration. 3. Another approach done is shown in a rough sketch - attached to this message. It shows a semi-circular profile radiating outwards of the house. 4. First of all, this may not be applicable to most houses as it implies e.g. planting trees in a semi-arch along the `yellow' boundary of the house. Impratical as it may sound (because…

  2. Dear Audrey, 1. In Feng Shui, there is still a (strong element) of `Male domination'. 2. Given the two different groups - i.e. East vs West, we often go for the male figure i.e. in this case your husband. Unless you earn substantially more. 3. In my opinion, if one strictly base it on the Eight House than, this is still not the `best' home. 4. Go more for such combinations:- Husband: Excellent, Prosperity, Health and Longevity vs yourself - Spook and Irritation For example, the Main door is your husband's Excellent while for you it is your `spook' or irritation. 5. Where possible, one can still try not to have `death' or `disaster' at the main entrance or the bedroom are…

Dear Anon, Yes, this is considered as a `threat' to the `mouth' (main entrance) of the home. Given this situation: Taiwanese Feng Shui often suggests the use of plant(s). But if this is not possible, see if one can apply the concept: " if it cannot be seen, it can no longer be a threat". The next is the "terroist link" option: Get Bin Laden to help demolish the threat. *JOKE* As a last resort, one may have to consider the placement of a ba gua mirror above the main entrance doo. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Vun Fook, Earlier, on my reply on the white-tiger location, yes, besides the compass direction of West, SW etc...: another major consideration is the Flying Star chart of that specific location. I have just scanned thru your message, but did not fully understand it. But for the star chart of 5ms 2 ws and 7, yes, with such a combination, a third element water is useful here. Under the Five elements concept: Earth -> Metal -> Water Since #5 and #2 are bad earth; Metal can help to draw out some of these earth. But not enough. In fact, this location should have `more metal' to help to further balance #5 and #2. A double edged sword is #7 weak earth. During this cur…

  6. Dear Michael, In Mandarin; gift of a clock (phonetic - sounds like) "sending one to a funeral ". Thus, many Chinese never accept a clock as a gift. As since you are not a Chinese, the main excuse is that you do not use the Chinese mandarin language and thus, is ignorant of this. I believe, this has to do more with "culture" and "culture shock" than Feng Shui. Since, one culture's practise does not necessarily mean anything bad to another culture. Thus in the west; a clock or "sounds like" does not resemble anything inauspicious - I personally feel that it should not be a major issue for another culture. Be it a western culture. For example, in some Chinese dialect group, …

  7. Dear Pam, Since the Chinese use the lunar calendar to find out the year, CNY this year only begins on 8 Feb 2005. Thus, the year flying star chart should normally start around this time instead of 1.1.2005. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  8. Dear Anon, Most likely, your friend or friend's family don't have any elderly in need of aid such as wheelchair bound or walking stick! In addition, some elderly or even those who may have some illness such as diabetes that may need to go toilet often. Tell them to "enjoy" walking up and down the home. In addition, for us Chinese, we do cook alot : lots of wet ingredients. Tell it to us, to first bring up our marketing items.. hopefully prawns don't leak it's contents on the walkway etc... Later, need to dispose of it. Don't get me wrong, I like the "idea". But. as especially for the Chinese, many of us live with our parents, especially to look after them. Not to "…

Dear Anon, Not so much of Feng Shui, but do give an air of confidence. It is best to use tips relating to interviews than Feng Shui to work effectively. Under Chinese Astrology, it is good that the date /time of interview is an auspicious time. Otherwise, there is not much use of it. Wishing your husband best of luck in his interview! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jen, Please see below:- I am glad that you find the information useful:) Please see sample sketch illustration: 1. In the sketch, one can find a lone (single) lamp post directly outside of the main door. 2. A single (lone) lamp post is symbolic of a `butter knife' e.g. the tall thin lamp post symbolises a knife that seems to slice into the house (via the main entrance). 3. Thus a house will be under `threat if a lone lamp post either slice thru the main door or a window in a house. 4. A REAL threat exists if (please refer to the attached example) a lamp post is between markings A to B of the main door (range). Recently Wasis, posted `an article' ab…

So long as when one is sleeping, it does not seem to "slice" e.g. like a knife or blade towards one's body. Thus if this can fold down, then best to be folded down when not in use. Anonymous wrote: Could you advise if it is okay to have a wall-mounted folder-table directly in front of the bed in the masterbed room? Thanks.

Dear Patricia, Regarding Health related problems, it is usually caused by the following:- 1. It could be because you are staying in a bedroom which happens to fall within your bad sectors based in the 4 good and 4 bad directions (Eight House Report). Most likely you are staying in a bedroom sector which is Death or Disaster. Or sleeping in your Death or Disaster. If this is the case, you should try to sleep at least in one of your good sectors such as Health or Longevity. Or re-locate yourself in a better bedroom which is one of 4 good sector. Please use the Free Eight House report to help you determine this. 2. There could be likely a combination of illness/sickness st…

Dear Anon, The best option (if you can) is to place a partition between the door and the toilet entrance. The partition can either be closer to the toilet area or the main entrance door. If the layout of your home is `L' shaped, it would be good to break the room into two `rectangles' using a divider. If you are using a divider to block the view of the toilet/ main entrance, it need not necessarily be of full height i.e. not necessary to be up to the height of the ceiling. So long as if one stands at the main entrance and cannot see the toilet door it (the toilet door) no longer becomes a `threat' or Sha Qi. The other option is to close the toilet door when not in use. …

Dear Monica, Frankly, in Feng Shui, there is no specific need for `special' paintings all around the walls in a bedroom. If you have posted this message to a "Feng Shui emporium", I believe, you will be happy `slapped' with various items to buy on their site. In Feng Shui, one key success factor is "clear space". And cleanliness. I am not saying that hanging paintings is not `clean'. But for those living in Asia, and at low floors, such as 1st to the 4th storey, there are such insects / reptiles as : lizards. Often, if one has three paintings, at night, one may just get a glimse of a few `fat' lizards, coming out of the hiding of various paintings to catch their bait. No…

Dear Anon, You can make use of the Auspicious Dates Analysis reports in our website to find the best date for your needs. URL: http://www.geomancy.net/products/po-dates/po-dates.htm Our auspicious date analysis requires name, gender, date and time of birth to be able to tell you the most personalised date that is best for you in addition to the Tong Shu. Since each person is unique, there is no single date that is good for all, unless you justlook only at Tong Shu. Hope that helps. Dear CoolCat, CoolCat SG wrote: My house is on the 16flloor, how do i place my eigh house chart? Should it be main door or balcony? You should follow the ruleset as shown in this page:- URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm Since you are living in an apartment above 7th level, thus your facing direction would be your balcony direction. ie standing inside your balcony looking outwards. This would be your facing direction of the apartment. When applying the eight house sector (ie which sector belongs to what influence), that portion you should still align the north direction to the north sector of the house. Hope that helps. Dear Madan, Thank you for bring up this interesting report. My comments are as follows:- Lets first look at the three Periods of the Lunar Calendar 6th Period or Yang Metal - 1964 to 1983 7th Period or Yin Metal - 1984 to 2003 8th Period or Yang Earth - 2004 to 2023 If one can notice, that Period 8th is significant because we are entering a period generally of Strong Earth (Yang Earth). The observations could be true because Yang Earth unlike other elements has a lesser influence. Since earth element is strong throughout and prevalent. There was this study done on I-ching prediction some years back and a graph was plotted and the i-ching graph went into `infinity'. As thi…

Dear Sor Lan, There are three alternatives to your situation:- A. The use of bamboo flutes hung in such a method:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/mypictures.cgi?img=0&search=flute&cat=all&bool=and&x=6&y=16 B. Please see attached two photos:- One photo shows a support strut. While another shows two bamboo flutes `holding' up the beam. For the support strut, it can be a simple arch construction. Dear Anon, In pratical Feng Shui, practical because many of us do not personally design or develop the house ourselves. In traditional Feng Shui, there are lots of houses which follow this strictly. For example, in many of the old houses (and even in Singapore) we can see toilets at North and a Ba Gua shaped balcony at the south (with a pointed roof). However, since many of us cannot simply with our wimps and fancy change the placement of a toilet bowl and even the shower/entire toilet. Given this situation, it is preferred that the toilet (at least) shares one external wall. Here, it means that the toilet is no longer at the centrepoint of the house. What is equally wors…
