Dear Deepti, Frankly, I am not too familar or aware of any good Feng Shui practitioner in India. Perhaps, you can try to check your yellow pages and see if there is a Chinese practitioner in your country and find out more if he/she is willing to teach you. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Isabel, Thank you for your clarification. 1. Yes, you should stand at the centrepoint or use the template from the centrepoint of the house. 2. There are some resources at this URL to further help you how to do so:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Alan, 1. The first approach is to use the Eight House Theory. This theory is quite interesting because: 1.1. It is used to find out " How suitable a house is to the breadwinner ". 1.2. Next, we look at the layout plan of the house and where the location of the bedrooms are for each person i.e. Husband, wife and children. For example, we try to find out what are the "intangible forces" at each bedroom. Thus, it would be advantages if the sectors in each room e.g. Master bedroom (Husband and wife) and other bed rooms suit each indivdual members of the house. 2. The various reports which you can generate under: http://www.geomancy-online.com are totally Free. This inc…

Dear Cecil, Thank you for your most informative feedback. I have to admit, I have visited Lillian Too's website a few times and noticed that she now has a "FS jewelry" being sold online. I was flabbergasted when I saw that. I immediately questioned her integrity. FS jewelries, of all things.......what's next, FS make-up or FS nail polish line? What color would give you luck on a job interview????? Anyway, I will look into the books/authors you mentioned. Thank you again very much and hope you continue to share proper information.

Dear Charles, It is best to look at two charts and see which is the better chart. As the Flying Star or the birth chart of the house differs in each door direction. Yes, if you are `changing' the door or using a backdoor to become a main door, then, you can do so. 1. However, this existing backdoor should not be smaller than your present main door. 2. It should open inwards, 3. If the main door has two doors (left and right) - it is best to have this configuration. 4. The new `main door' should also have the house number placed on it. 5. Preferably an auspicious date be chosen for the work to be carried out. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cheli, Thank you for bring up this interesting question. Many of us may become quite confused with `differing' concepts or theories. Usually, a concept or problem need to be redressed (without first taking into consideration - personal self). Let me take a parallel:- In Flying Star Feng Shui, if a location has bad #5 (misfortune) and further more the year chart also has this #5 - we need to really redress this problem (no matter if the sector in question is considered "unfavourable" to the individual). Here, there is a real need to neutralise the problem at this sector. If the requirement is to use a metal windchime, then, we need to use it. Using a wooden windchime …

Dear Anon, Happy New Year to you! Please see below:- This common denominator can be related in many of the concepts - in particular i.e. ' Flying Star Feng Shui and Pillars of Destiny. There are many Feng Shui practitioners and in my opinion, I feel that some of these practitioners may not `live' up to the standard. Thus, the end result is that many people become disillushioned with it. In addition, I personally feel that many people are also to be blamed. The rationale is unfortunately " greed ". I can understand money is important but, when we depart our hard-earned money to buy or enhance a sector, this can become worrisome. Or to buy e.g. a three-legged toad. For…

Dear Cindi, 1. Yes, in my opinion, one can certainly have a single mattress i.e. and keep it away daily the next morning. 2. This is secondary to Feng Shui and I feel that this is a practical approach in the use of limited space within the home. 3. I have heard that some FS practitioners are (quite) concerned with sleeping on a single mattress (within a bed post). As some of these FS practitioners (feel) that a bed should be `raised' so that Qi can flow under the bed. In my opinion, this is again of secondary or not as important as other FS concepts or theories. For example, it is more crucial to check for poison arrow(s) aimed towards a home or thru the windows. Warmest…

Dear Momo, Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. Wishing you, and everyone here a Happy New Year! Please see below:- Nowadays, it is much harder to `discern' the type of element related to a career. This is because of the element of `multi-skilling'. It it common nowadays; for one to be `multi-skilled' not only in our job but in a wide spectrum of a job. For example, some of us may be an accountant, while others may be in PR, Marketing or Administration. Common usage of computers and other related equipment is very common. Thus, we are today - more `multi-skilled' than ever. And it thus much harder to define a job or relate it (totally) to one specific element …

Hi Cecil, Thank you very much for your reply. You've been a great help. With regards to the "Fortune Bagua" I told you, its a basic one: metal, in octagonal shape, has Eight Trigrams engraved on it, with chinese writings in-between every trigram and a chinese writing also in the middle. Furthermore, is there anyway you can help me improve my life overall since year 2001 was not that good and i intend to find ways to make it better this year 2002 in terms of career and work. Can you suggest anything that would help. Again, thank you and looking forward for more advise from you regarding the above. Sincerely, wilyam

Dear Josephine, 1. Presently, from my personal observations, so far, I do not recall or find anyone, who was directly affected with books facing them. 2. However, based on the concept of " If one no longer sees it, it does not become a - threat ". One option, if you still want to cover the bookself is using e.g. a cloth or something of that nature or install cabinet doors. 3. Is the pillar pointed at the bed? If the pillar is not pointed towards the bed (but parallel to it this is OK. Not much one can do otherwise (to extend the "wall" or pillar such that it no longer becomes a pointed corner). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Per, In my opinion, for a small that is shared for livingrm cum office cum bedroom, more importantly the placement of the various furnitures. And avoid `clutter' where possible. Under Feng Shui, the most appropriate concept used here is the Yin and Yang concept. Where, there should be a `balance'. In moments of rest (sleep), a more conducive yin environment is good. But while working, too conducive of such a yin environment is not favourable. I believe, that your room should have a window. And, depending on the direction also i.e. if the window area faces directly west, then, it may be quite hot (depending on your country - season). Overall, try your best to balance…

Dear Deepti, Please see below:- One must correctly understand the purpose of the Eight House Theory:- 1. In general, it can be used to find out how suitable a house is to the breadwinner. 2. It is good to have good intangible force in the bedroom. If the sector is not as auspicious to one spouse but good for the other spouse; the spouse who has the "better" intangible force sleeps closer to that sector (shielding) the other partner. Thus if North (bedroom) is an auspicious sector for the husband e.g. his health sector; while it is the disaster sector for the wife; then the husband sleeps closer to this sector. The Eight House theory is mainly about the above t…

Dear Michelle, 1. In my opinion, I do come across (especially) many homes as what you have described. 2. Overall, although, it may not look `ideal' for such a situation under Feng Shui but from my personal (and past experience); I felt that this is really not of a major issue. Another factor is that at this second level, especially if are pockets of air movement (if one opens the windows) would be good for the circulation of air between level 2 and level 1 via the stair-case/stair-case landing area. 3. Instead, priority should instead be looked at with regards to poison arrows (aimed towards the home) i.e. when one stands at the window or main entrance door looking outw…

Under the above link, please look at: 1. Graphic file: compass21.jpg and compass21a.jpg 2. The file name: compass21.jpg shows the actual house layout. 3. Let's look closely at file name: compass21a.jpg Try to click on the thumbnail image to show you an enlarged picture of this layout plan. 3.1 You will find the actual centrepoint shown in the picture as " 1 ". Number "2" is the extended centrepoint wher…

Dear Anon, 1. In a business, the most important question often asked is: Can Feng Shui help in my business? 2. Here, we have to be realistic about what Feng Shui can or cannot do. If other businesses of the same nature as our company is doing well as compared to our business; then Feng Shui can give a quantum leap provided it is applied correctly. 3. For example, if I have a shop e.g. goldsmith shop which is not doing well as compared to my neighbours. Yet, my neigbhour's shop is doing very well. Then, Feng Shui can be utilised to help our company. 4. However, is say the entire goldsmith market is facing a severe downturn; Feng Shui cannot do much to help. 5. For example…

Dear Mee Yin, Please see below:- Frankly, a flaw with the Eight House Theory is that it is only a static representation. And more importantly, I personally feel that it would be useful as an `indicator' of:- 1. How suitable a house is to the breadwinner. 2. Locations where one spent time at. (However, there are other major considerations or priorities) than this theory. (The Eight House Theory). Usually, this involves a full audit of the house which not only includes the `consideration' of the Eight House Theory but also other concepts such as the Shapes and Form and Flying Star audits of the house. These two concepts are, I feel more important than just the `Eight Ho…

Dear Michael, 1. Please refer to a similar forum message under this conference " Free Advice ". 2. Forum message: " Placement of legal documents ". Recent message dated December 22, Year 2001. 3. In the above message to a user, I mentioned that, in Traditional Feng Shui, it is not the practise to place legal documents at (any specific) location or to apply "sector " Feng Shui or paying homage to a specific sector. 4. Usually, Flying Star Feng Shui is used in this situation to look at the issue: In most cases, there may be a eighty-one combination within a sector that may involve legal issues or entanglements. This should be neutralised. In particular either the base Flyin…

Dear Donna, 1. Please refer to my earlier message. In general green represents growth and it is one of the recommended colours. 2. However, I personall feel that Feng Shui is not a `cure' all. It helps to enhance Qi. But in terms of human behaviour and interaction, this is more towards other disciplines such as Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny). In your environment, since there are so many individuals, it is not practical to try to use Ba Zi as it involves many people and their `interaction/cross-interaction' with each other. In my opinion, this is why, we often hear that once a person gets to be 18 years or especially 21 years of age, it is pretty difficult to `change' someone…

Dear Wasis, 1. A simple circular mirror, is the least obstrusive of all " Ba Gua " mirrors. 2. Normally a concave Ba Gua mirror is used against " poison arrows " or Sha Qi e.g. street lamps, lone tree slicing the main entrance door. 3. On the other hand, a convex Ba Gua mirror is (like all other Ba Gua mirror) another form of protection. Here, it is mostly used to protect the home occupants by bad qi energies or perceived bad energies. Usually, this type of Ba Gua mirror is based on the specific recommendation by a Feng Shui Master on the usage. Otherwise, one normally use either the " flat round mirror " i.e. the least offensive towards the neighbours to the more common…
