Passed by Rochor/ Bukit Timah Road: this afternoon.. and these are photos of shop keepers burning incense ... This year Chinese 7th month starts today (3 August) and ends on 31 August. No issue if renovation starts before 3 August and continues to 31 August 2016. Avoid moving house during the Chinese 7th month. P.S. Chinese 7th month is from 3 Aug to end August. 8th month is 1 Sep

Dear Eric, Frankly, if there is a double 7th month, often if someone is celebrating their lunar birthday; then the 1st 7th month is considered their birthday. Given that you have a constrain, here i.e. delay if renovations do not start, then, for practical reasons, you may carry out your renovations. But during the renovation period, avoid or try not to visit the home frequently especially to spent time to eat - sleep or eat - bathe or bathe-eat, there. Avoid performing a "supervisory" role during the 7th month when renovations are carried out. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master, I have a question in relation to Flying Stars for 2025. We have kitchen/dining room renovation booked for end of February 2025. The kitchen is in North-west/North and dining room North-east direction. This will involve removing and replacing kitchen, floor and lights. realised flying stars 3, 7 and 5 will therefore be negatively activated and reading what can happen is worrying me. Are there any cures we can put it to avoid the consequences these stars can bring? We can not cancel the renovation as we would lose the large deposit. Thank you

Dear Anon, Sorry for the confusion. The Chinese belief of the 7th Month is based on Chinese practises rather than on Feng Shui. Predominantly, you will find most Chinese Feng Shui practioners (in countries like Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Far East) following this practise. Thus you will understand that this practise is not based on Feng Shui. Some Feng Shui practioners e.g. those migrated to Canada or the US may consider this `superstition'. One reason is because their clients may not be Chinese and therefore feel that this is not a `taboo'. Let me elaborate how most of us follow this practise: It is because, most of the time, our clients would not move in to a new house o…

Mr. Lee, thank you so much for this simple (to you), invaluable (to me!) painting advice. iv>I am a huge fan of your approach to Feng Shui and take to heart your maxim to "first, stop the leak." v>We live in a South 1 facing period 7 home, and after February of 2004 things began to go, with a few exceptions, less well. We live in the Rocky Mountain west region of the United States, where finding a consultation was difficult, but we did find one Eastern-trained practioner/geomancer, and his advice to us was welcome, if a bit renovation- heavy. I am so grateful to you for advice, as the details of this house sprucing-up have been left to us. Stacy

Dear Max, 1. For a new home, one do not need to strictly adhere to the Grand Duke or Tai Sui theory. Especially if it has not even been stayed in yet. 2. It is always good to choose auspicious dates for: 2.1 Start of renovations. 2.2 Choose a good date for symbolic "move-in". 2.3 Choose a good date for actual move-in. Warmest Regards, Cecil

1. Hopefully, the double #8's at the back is not the toilet or kitchen area else it is wasted, here. 2. Some homes have their acitivity area at the back e.g. dining room. If there is some form of living area at the "back" of the home, one can have more activities in this area. Alternatively, allow windows to be opened (provided no rain - leaking into the home). Letting qi or air coming from this area is a good consideration - allow it to circulate into the home. 3. Once a while, it is often good to allow qi to or ordinary wind to flow into all parts of the home e.g. open windows or doors every few weeks - is good for qi circulation: avoiding dead / sha qi or suffocating…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I see that some feng shui masters advise that at least the door, the stove and the floors must be renovated or changed, and then you can consider the change of a period 7 House to period 8 House. A house qi will only change if there is significant renovation done. So if you have hacking of walls, or hacking of all the floortiles or removing the roof and rebuilding it. These are all clear signs of a change in Qi and immediately come into effect. Anonymous wrote: Some fengshui masters advise that as soon you paint the inside of your apartment, the apartment (house chart) already changed from period 7 to period 8. Is this true? Or if the buildin…

Dear Cheui May, Here, it can be looked at as:- 1. Real or physical major renovations. 2. `Technical' "major" renovation. 3. Under a real or physical major renovation, this would imply renovations as a guideline which should be greater or equal to 33.3 percent of the entire area of the home. The removal of the entire roof of a house would automatically imply a major change of date of birth. 4. `Technical' "major" renovation. This is symbolic in nature and for example, the repainting of the roof or ceiling. 5. I believe, if one were to post the above to another forum, it may result in differences of opinion. 6. Here are some "safety" nets:- 6.1. As most Compass School FS …

Dear Nansi, This is based on the Grand Duke Theory where for this year, one should not offend the Grand Duke of Jupiter by not doing renovation at the East direction. The Grand Duke or Tai Su `will' be offended if one e.g. digs earth or do renovations at this direction as it will disturb him. Unfortunately, the effects can be `long lasting' as it may extend to a few years. So far, frankly, this is the warning but no acceptable cures are available. As mentioned earlier, for some Chinese, they may consider `praying' for forgiveness to the Tai Su or Grand Duke of Jupiter. Other than this, I really do not know what to do also. Because, many who are aware of this, remember abo…

Dear Judy, It is interesting to note that Feng Shui cannot be done by `remote-control'. You have to stay in the house in order to enjoy it's influence. For example, if you have another property and it is rented. If it has good FS properties, the tenants will get to enjoy it instead of the owners. Warmest Regards, Cecil

In general, I believe you have done your best for the new office. For a long corridor (if there is sufficient space), plants on alternate side at intervals would be `nice' to have for Qi manipulation. More importantly, the location of key personnel's table position such as you and your partners are critical also. Bear in mind Shapes and Form techniques to place the table not by itself but against say a wall. It is equally favourable to site at a good direction or facing position i.e. The Eight House facing chart. If possible, you and your partner's table/seats should be located at the back (and especially good) if there is a wall acting as a solid backing behind both of …

These are useful resources on facing direction: http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=32493&new= http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=15673&new= http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=6&mid=15672&new= As for how do I determine the year build; there must be either some record of when the EXISTING building was built and 1st or initial occupation. May be can check with the landlord. For Flying Star Feng Shui, it is slotting the home into one of the 20 year flying star periods i.e. 1983 to 2004. And one do not need to know the exact date e.g. 5 Jan 1985 10.55.55 secs ty…

Frankly, the house number analysis is based on "Vertical Flying Star" Feng Shui - where each level is suppose to have different qi flow. It is nice-to-have an apartment that has a good number (full-stop). However, this is not the end, but one of the many other considerations. In Feng Shui it is the earth luck: thus "location, location and location is equally as important. And it involves a close-look or study of the site, the building and neighbouring building / roads etc.. Thus the more info, one has, to evaluate the home, the better. As the "Vertical Flying Star" Feng Shui is specific to just looking especially at which level or storey the apartment is (full-stop). I…

Dear Wendy, In my opinion, I personally feel that your question is too general. This is because, a house Feng Shui would depend on various factors involving: Shapes and Form and Compass School Feng Shui. And since no two houses are the same; more information would be required. Perhaps, when you have found a `suitable' house, or prior to this, you can in the mean-time, if you are using the Compass School Feng Shui; e.g. use the Eight House theory to see which room would be best for your dad's recovery. And later on if you have questions on the Shapes and Form of a house that you `like'; feel free to post more questions/advise relating to the house. Wishing your dad a spee…

Dear Cecil, Please see below: I've told my brother that the lay out is inauspicious. However, he argued that he had consulted with a trustworthy psychic that the land was very auspicious. He added that most houses at the same side of the street have the same characteristic (lower than the street with basement) and many rich landlords stays there. The left neighbour has the same interior and exterior design because they're semi-detached houses. The left owner stays there too and is very rich. It looks like there is a river nearby "hug" the location. All I can do for him is suggest not to rent too long. Thanks in advance. Regards, Wasis

Dear James, 1. In my opinion, the biggest influence in the home (`Earth' luck) relates more to the external environment, the site and the home. 2. Usually, other than the external environment and the site, the next important consideration is the (entire house). 3. Therefore; even if you had rented a room, it is but of secondary importance as the whole house has to be related to. 4. What I am trying or hoping to emphaise here is that your room is but just one sector of the whole house. 5. Usually, a full house is audited and checked for any imbalances (if any) within each sector. If there are any imbalance, then it should be `cured'. Say, after applying the cure for that s…

Dear Anon, If the house was built between 1983 to the present, it will still be considered a Period 7 house i.e. no change. Some FS practitioners consider the repainting of the roof (as a means to changing the birth chart of the house). The `significant' thing you mentioned is the replacing of the floor tiles (which to some FS practitioners may consider a change in birth chart. While some FS practitioners consider a change of structure or a major change of birth chart. What is considered a change of birth chart is debateable and has to be looked at on a case-by-case basis. In Flying Star analysis, it is good to plot the birth chart of the two periods (if they are of a dif…

1. Frankly, this is considered as "superficial" and highly unlikely to change to a new period. 2. Take note of the most conservative thoughts:- 2.1 Honestly, some very conservative Feng Shui practitioners today, even do mention that without uprooting the entire home, to them the home is still but belonging to that period. 2.2 Here, the super conservative FS practitioners believe that even major A and A (Alterations and Amendments) may not change as they believe that as long as the foundation is left untouched, to them it is still felt to be under the previous Period. 2.3 To them, a total change of qi is where the whole home inclusive of the foundations NEED to be "u…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, this is considered a minor renovation and from my personal experience; I feel that (or strongly feel) that there is no change in the period of the house. Especially more so, if the house was built under Period 7 i.e. 1984 to 2003. And during this period, if a house was built anytime after 1984, it does not matter if renovation has been carried out many times from 1984 to 2002. The house will always remain a Period 7 house. Warmest Regards Cecil
