For me, I do have a pot of bougainvilla but, I specially chosen one with genetically smaller thorns. So far, there is no, concrete evidence to say whether plants with thorns are bad. For curiosity, you can try out the several methods and check the final results. In fact, most of the methods works well for years less than 1999.
