Dear Cindy, Frankly, I hope u don't mind me saying; but it would be better for you to get expert help instead of grasping with so many "puzzles." Often, the major consideration is to check the layout plan of the home to see if it is better (or not) to fly to the new period. For example, for a Period 7 SW 2 apartment, the current prosperity water star is located at South compass direction while the mountain star is located at West. While under Period 8, the water wealth location flies to the NE sector. And the mountain star remains at SW sector.Does this match your layout plan i.e. is your living room at NE? or as a result of flying to P8,the water star 8 could be dro…

Hello Cecil or Fengshui Master, I would like to ask for your help in what kind of Bagua to use for my home. I am so confused to either use concave, convex or the 9 mirror Bagua. Please help before deciding which bagua to use. I feel like as if money is coming in but it's going out every end of the month. I attached some photos. Please help. Michelle Chan

Dear Anon, In my opinion, the main issue is related to where the fish tank is placed. If it is close to the centre-point of the house, this is highly inauspicious. Frankly, so far, I have not commonly seen a fish tank facing the bedroom. If you can, try to see if there is a better place e.g. in the living room area if possible. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Surinder, In my opinion, your question is too general since you had only mentioned about your main door = NE. Perhaps, the most logical way is to see if you can apply both Shapes & Forms as well as Compass School Feng Shui to make sense of your current situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil Surinder Singh

Dear Cindi, 1. Yes, in my opinion, one can certainly have a single mattress i.e. and keep it away daily the next morning. 2. This is secondary to Feng Shui and I feel that this is a practical approach in the use of limited space within the home. 3. I have heard that some FS practitioners are (quite) concerned with sleeping on a single mattress (within a bed post). As some of these FS practitioners (feel) that a bed should be `raised' so that Qi can flow under the bed. In my opinion, this is again of secondary or not as important as other FS concepts or theories. For example, it is more crucial to check for poison arrow(s) aimed towards a home or thru the windows. Dear Andrew, 1. Five metres is in a very close proximity. 2. Yes, currently I believe, from your second floor, there is an obstructed view or clear space. 3. But if a new condominium development, perhpas, you may not have clear space (at your frontage anymore). 4. However, you mentioned that there is suppose to be a water position at the front (after the development). If this is the case, then, you should usually have clear space. 5. What type of water fountain will there be? If it is a circular fountain, you can still benefit from it. But if it is a wall-type of fountain where the wall is facing you and water falls into this wall, then, this type of fountain may not be…

Dear Marjorie, 1. For those who are family with fixed template models with characteristis such as Fame / Travel etc... 2. Authentic Traditional Feng Shui sites like this does not use such `Ba gua models'. 3. For those who are new, can check out some of the older links:- http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm 4. This link helps you when you are using an ordinary compass:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-cecilcompass.htm 5. Overall, it is very difficult to comment on just a few general sentences. But, in general, a water position directly behind the house usually services as a `handicap' or a single leak. 6. If there are more `leaks' in the home, then, it usually p…

Dear Hoa Luong, 1. In your situation, you should use Period 7 instead of Period 6. 2. The rationale is because; the convenience store is considered as the `heart' of the gas station. As it commands central focus and where human activity centres e.g. billing office, cashiers' counter and some customers walk up to this place. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Stan, Under Flying Star Feng Shui; each number represents an element. This is where #7 represents `small metal'. While #1 represents water element. And #6 represents `big metal' Often a "fail-safe" system is where should one of the 7 gold fish dies, often, one is still left with 6 gold fishes with 1 black fish. Under the Productive sequence of the Five elements concept: Metal supports Water element. Thus, this is why, 7 gold fishes with 1 black is often mentioned - for fish tank. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sue, Please see below:- Yes, the extra utility room should be included. Under Flying Star Feng Shui, if you house was built prior to 1984, and with this extra utiltiy room built after 1984 and renovations done at the exterior facade, the birth chart of your 3i flat should now be changed to Period 7 (1984 onwards). The above is for info, if you are using Flying Star Feng Shui. Based on Eight House Feng Shui, there is not much one can change the above base on this concept. One the house has been purchased, nothing can change this aspect of Eight House theory. This theory can tell how suitable a house is to the owners but it has its limitations. Usually, it is …

Dear Anon, In my opinion, this is perfectly alright and no need to check for an auspicious date as yet. This is also because we have not gotten the key as yet - and thus has "no ownership" of it as yet. In the past, many of us, took the opportunity to view our uncompleted homes (many times) and there should not be any issue. This is because in the past, there were very few condos and when the site was quite near completion, one could virtually slip in to take a view especially in the evening when the workers had generally stopped work. A more practical issue is to either borrow a hard-hat or keep away from open space (i.e. falling objects etc..) So go for it! Cheers!…

Dear Marcia, Try to do a SEARCH using the Search feature under this forum. You can find the various alternatives to neutralise a beam. For example, I just did a SEARCH in this forum and the first two searchs show this two links:- 1 Photo Tours of Interest (with Pictures) Another alternative: bamboo flute 9/3/2002 2 Photo Tours of Interest (with Pictures) Another alternative: bamboo flute 9/3/2002 If your beam is made of concrete, the above can show you how to neutralise it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jen, When dealing with such questions, it is preferred that you provide a sketch. It need not be to scale but at least, should show this area in relation to the roughly the distance from the main door, whether the wall covers the entire main door or covers partially with a void. I feel that it would not be right to answer this question without a proper perspective. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jen, 1. The worst location to touch or disturb from 1 February 2003 (1st day of Lunar New Year) is South at 220 degrees. 2. This direction is where the Grand Duke of Jupiter is suppose to be sitting. And it is very inauspicious to disturb or touch him. It may bring several years of bad luck. 3. The 3-Killings location The 3 killings location is directly opposite the grand duke location. Therefore if Grand Duke is sitting at 220 degrees, than this coming Goat year 2003, the 3-killings is located at 40 degrees. Please see below:- Note: True magnetic compass direction at 40 degrees. Here, do not do any renovations. No. Traditional Feng Shui Compass School uses …

Dear Sophia, Often, the colour scheme of the toilet is a non-issue. Based on commonsense approach, it is good to see how well "lit" the toilets are. Many toilets have small ventilation windows and most are quite "dark" either because they are close to the centrepoint or does not have much direct sunlight most of the time. Given this, *commensense* approach that the toilet should preferably have lighter coloured tiles especially if there are elderly in the home. More important considerations is the location of the toilet. In particular, it is best to avoid the centrepoint of the home. As the toilet has the water element and wrong locations may not be favourable for weal…

Dear Peck Wun, If the figurine looks ambigious, it is best to cover it first, especially if it is an old furniture. Overall, if the figurine is not facing directly towards the bed but facing outwards, there is, in my opinion, not a real concern. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anthony, Based on your description, in my opinion: No or there is no issue here. Unless, the furniture was fixed or built against the wall and such furniture may require some force or hacking to remove them. Otherwise, it is OK. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Veronica, 1. In my opinion, no. This is not Feng Shui. Neither is it Ba Zi (Eight Characters/Pillars of Destiny). 2. This is because, what you had mentioned, cannot be related to The Five Elements Concept and Yin and Yang. 3. Most probably, (in my opinion) the practitioner may have his/her toes laughing when he/she gave this advise. 4. Many of us genuinely approach a FS practitioner for advise and I must say; really what was mentioned goes against any commonsense approach especially what makes it special about say a Toyota vs a Nissan? 5. Numerology methods can be very (very) diverse. It may have to do with phonetic sounding words e.g. 8 or `Fatt' (luck) in Cantones…

Dear Cindy, 1. Most of us would love to hear that each of us have a specific "wealth area" in our home. 2. Sometimes, this can work `against us' for the benefit of those who sell products. 3. In true traditional Feng Shui, `wealth' can be looked at as follows:- 3.1 In our ba zi, e.g. terms like "auspicious wealth" luck period often means either having children or if it is found in our later luck periods e.g. 50's or 60's then it is most likely; grand children. 3.2 This is because in the past, China was an agricultural society. And it is said that the more "hands" the better to help toil the soil or plant the seeds plus harvest. 3.3 Today, our wealth under ba zi is still o…

Dear Jon, 3. Singapore is so small. And generally, geographically although it may seem that there is a North / South / NE, Central / West region, but ultimately, Singapore is considered as "south" e.g. south of the Malayan peninsula. 4. If we go by the Eight House theory, and if we separate people into two groups: East and West, sometimes we get "weird" questions like, since I belong to the west group, I should live in the west. 5. Perhaps, this could be used as a silly reason for getting a divorce from a wife that is East group while we are a West group. It does not make sense at all. 6. More importantly, we read Shapes and Forms concept like the office should …

Hi Anon, In terms of beams, ideally it is best not to be able to see it if possible. Anonymous wrote: We have just finished building our dream house, actually its a loghouse so the problem is we have big beams over our beds and in the living room area, also we have a big log postsupporting the secondfloorareain the middle of the living room. So usually, two most efficient ways to go about it is to either have a false ceiling which will hide the beams. Or to have a bed with those canopy beds which you can place like curtain or cover on top. That should help you shield the beams from your view when you are sleeping on the bed. These two are two more practical ways rather…

Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, this concept is somewhat "outdated" or may be very difficult to apply i.e. to a lay person. In particular the dragon and tiger concepts. 2. For the back (tortise/ or you mentioned turtle ) i.e. solid backing and clear space (phoenix) is still relatively easy to understand and apply for most of us. 3. This is because especially for those who live in urban areas, roads, waterways or even buildings can represent the dragon and tiger. 4. What I find that is more important than Para 3 at this moment is this question: Does the site able to collect wealth? If a site can collect wealth, then this is the opportunity i.e. Quantum Leap in Feng Shui. In a…
