Seek General Advice from Master Cecil Lee

Dear Mercedes, Frankly, this question is very general. Objectively, companies look especially for specific skill sets that can help them to enhance their business. This is not Feng Shui:- And nowadays, jobs also depends on the number of applications and suprisingly, it also depends on your cover letter and resume. From past experience, the human resource department staff or manager will take no more than 30 seconds glance at your letter and resume. Therefore, it is highly essential for you to attract their attention. Thus cover letter should be short and sweet and the first page of your resume should have a photo. Nowadays, you can easily scan it clearly. Anyway, wishi…

Dear Mara, This type of reasoning does not seem logical. It is like saying that the world is SQUARE? I can understand Muslims, having to pray facing Mecca and when they die and buried, their body i.e. head to legs face Mecca. This is a Muslim's belief. But, East? Why not West? or South? Frankly, if it is suppose to apply to the masses, then, this is a total untruth. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Landed property: If the house is a second-hand home, try to do a `Feng Shui walk around' of the entire estate. Stand just outside the home and even 10 metres away (facing the home). Look to see if the house is sloping? Next, w=Walk past the house next to the house you are considering. Look in to see the overall state of condition. For second-hand homes, always try to see if you can find out more of the house's history? Why did the current owner / previous owner want to sell it? For apartments or flat: There are also many rule-sets. If you have the time do visit the forum resources e.g. Singapore Property and also Photo Tours of Interest (with pictures). There are many ex…

Dear Mark, Given that red is considered as the most Yang colour; it would not be favourable for a person who is: 1. a Strong Fire person or Addition of fire element to a Fire person, further intensifies the fire. It is like adding fire to fire. May inadvertently create stress for the strong fire person. 2. a Weak water person or Too much fire will drown a already weak water person. Here, we do not want to inadvertently boil the last remaining drops of water. Significance: may cause difficulties to the weak water person. 3. a Strong Earth person Under the productive cycle, too much fire element can further inflame a strong earth person. Which is not favourable. Warmest Re…

  5. Dear Regina, Thanks:) A truly excellent insight and eye-opener on the state of "Feng Shui" today:)) Since the 1990's, many book publishers have also noticed that in order for books to sell (WELL), it should have some write-up in the name and holy trinity of Feng Shui:( Cheers! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Angelina, Yes, it is very common to find windchimes with varying or different lengths. This is perfectly OK. Usually, some of them have clinger or the middle coin attached to it - being too heavy to make any sound. (I suspect only a hurricane or a typhoon sized wind may cause it to make a sound. *JOKE*) The better windchimes are those with alluminium rod with a wooden "roof/support" and a wooden clinger. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear De Pei, Actually in real life, there is truly no authentic "Feng Shui" music. However, in modern times or recently, there are some who started composing music which they themselves interpret as "Feng Shui music". This can be classified more towards commercialisation works of art. You can view my past resource on the subject of "Feng Shui music" under this link:- http://www.geomancy.net/resources/art/art-music.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Michelle, Since you had mentioned that although the roof was put in Dec 2003, however, since the internal organs of the home have yet to be ready by then i.e. ready in 2004, it would be best to use the Period 8 chart. As you have also not even moved-in yet. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Please do not be unduly alarmed. 2. This is because, in the earlier case study; I specifically mentioned that there were instances of an `unclean' temple. 3. Since, you had clearly indicated that a temple or place of worship does not exits; you should not be worried about the situation, 4. If the is no temple, just look out for an additional situation i.e. a lone tall tree (trunk) at the NE or right side of the home. 5. Another senario of the above case study is that the set of Flying Stars at NE of the home that I had mentioned were `too yin' or had many yin stars that flew into that sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Dominique, If one is using the count based on Flying Star Feng Shui:- 1. The maximum count is Number 9. Or we call this 9 purple. 2. The other way of using these numbers are the 81 interpretations based on the combinations of 9 leading to 81 interpretations. 3. Flying Star numbers is also used in house numbers or apartment house numbers. One can check out the free report: House Number for apartments or Flying Star (Xuan Kong vertical Flying Star charts). Go to http://www.geomancy-online.com 4. Feng Shui is about earth luck. 5. There is another Chinese divinity method called I-Ching or Yi-Ching. Dear Amarjit, In my opinion, one of the major area is to ensure that one applies good examination techniques, good balanced, study and good rest when needed. Feng Shui plays only an indirect role. And it is also about, having a conducive environment. Many people, study and in constant contact with friends taking the same examination. Here, "motivating" each other to study, is equally good. The saying.... " Erh.. did I forget something? " What the "heck!" - Just do your best! No one can fault you! Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Thank you for bring up such an interesting question. 2. To help everyone understand better, one of this options can be related to a particular Chinese `custom'. 3. Before we go into this question, it is interesting to understand this... 3.1 When the communist took over China, Feng Shui practises were suppressed in that country. Many Chinese fled to two major countries i.e. Taiwan and Hong Kong. (Many more fled to the Far East). 3.2 But it is interesting to note here is that the majority that fled to Taiwan are the Hokkiens from Fukien province. 3.3 While those that fled to Hong Kong are from Canton, the Cantonese. 4. Since, Hong Kong became a British colony…

Dear Grace, The clue to the wealth element is based on two considerations: 1. Personal Ba Zi element of a person. Is the person a weak or strong wood? 2. The "Destructive Cycle" of the Five Elements Concept. Reference: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-5element.htm 3. If one looks carefully at the "Destructive sequence", it is actually quite misleading to say that the destructive sequence in `no good'. In fact, the destructive sequence has also to do with wealth creation. 4. For example: In the case of the wood element. A plant or tree gets its nurishment from the ground. Here, literally, the roots of the plants go into the earth to `crush' and anchor itself i…

Dear Jen, 1. I can quite imagine that your front door and frame is indeed contrasting. 2. From a cultural point of view, Chinese do not like contrasting colours. Especially if the contrasting colour takes on to them an inauspicious `statement': 2.1 In the west white is associated purity e.g. a white wedding grown. 2.2 Under the Five Elements, Metal (white) is also associated with purity. And if we look at a Chinese Luopan closely, it looks similar to your main door but in reverse: The outer square of the Chinese Luo pan is painted red. This outer square represents the earth. If we look carefully at the inner circle plate: (circle represents metal) And this plate is rep…

Dear Joan, I am really not sure whether I should let you know this case. I believe sometime back as far back as 1999 or earlier, there was this example of underground water (or sewerage pipe) running under a house. And so happens that this German study, mentioned that there was a high incidence of cancer where beds were placed either above this pipe or close to it. Perhaps, maybe the pipes had corroded or etc... We do not know. Where possible, as you had mentioned, try to place your furniture especially sitting position as far away from the pipes. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Since, the tree slices into the house (thru the main entrance): this is considered inauspicous. Or a threat to the house. The cul-de-sac is an added `burden' to the house. Thus, this is two bad / bad situations. No, it does not mean here that the cul-de-sac metal slices into the wood tree. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  21. Dear Meei Jinn, 1. As mentioned earlier, the key success factors esentially is: location, location and location. 2. Overall, in the past, I have elaborated that we should consider the heat source on our home. Often if the home is east to west direction (with the sun rise and sun set); And if the house is facing east (sitting west) or vice versa; and on a sunny day (assuming there are no trees to shade the frontage or the back; this type of house can be pretty hot all day. A hot home; is not ideal unless one is prepared to either withstand the heat or have the luxury to turn on the aircon. 3. Besides this, drainage such as a drain or canal behind the home is another consi…

I moved into an l shaped loft last year. I wasn't too happy with it, but my partner loved it. The problems for me are pretty severe. My SW (tien yi) is in the bathroom black and white and adjacent toilet (black and white) and adjacent to that my storage laundry room. These are in the L part. Then West (tu wei) is in the handle with the front door (straight wall). The room gets wider a bit after a curve around the outside elevator shaft , 1/4 circle which cuts into a curved wall.It curves wider (but not closing L) into NW (sheng chi) and narrows again cutting out almost all North (ho hai) leaving a narrow curved hall outside my bedroom. All the window are on the East sid…

Hi Master Cecil, I asked you a question in your post about clothesline. I need to ask you again with different topic that seems like nobody ask. So, I want to buy this house which has an open space in the back of the house with walls around it (you can see the illustration). I plan to move the kitchen to this area and install clear/transparent canopy so it would be bright. The grey area shown in the picture already has canopy (not transparent), so the rest of the area on top of the kitchen and clothesline are going to be installed with transparent canopy and put some permanent small ventilation. I would also plan to install some shades that can be…
