Dear Raju, For a person who is a `weak earth', a water position such as a fish tank is neutral to your element. Here are some guidelines to the placement of a fish tank: 1. One method is to use the Flying Star to analyse each sector of the house for imbalances. 2. If one does not want to use method 2, then, the most common method is: 2.1 Shapes and Forms The fish tank can be placed in the living room or a private room. Avoid placing it in a study room as it may be distract the person studying in the room. 2.2 One School of Feng Shui feels that the stand of the fish stand should match the location e.g. a black stand at the North; a Green or Brown stand at the East etc... …

Dear Wendy, 1. Since you already have confirmed moving into the home, yes, you can check out the house orientation viz a viz the main entrance door after you have moved into the house. 2. In macro Feng Shui, the best method to determine how good the site is; is to look at the overall city or county where your home is located. 3. We have to remember here that macro Feng Shui is important. The general well being of family households lies with the location i.e. city / county that one's home is located. 4. Next, the external environment of your home. As you had mentioned, your house is shielded by a large hill. 5. In general, the prosperity of not only your house but your ne…

Dear Yijun, 1. You have not mentioned whether you are a person with `Strong' or `Weak' water. 2. If you are a person with Strong Water element, then earth can help. For example, under the Five elements concept, Earth destroys Water. So if you are a person with Strong Water, earth can be used to exhaust your Strong Water. And this would be beneficial to you. 3. If you are instead, a person with Weak Water, you should not add too much Earth. As Earth can futher weaken your Weak water element. 4. If one is trying to add earth element, one should be more `careful' since it is not advisable to introduce Earth element to sectors in the home especially if one had not done a FS a…

Dear Anon, The best option (if you can) is to place a partition between the door and the toilet entrance. The partition can either be closer to the toilet area or the main entrance door. If the layout of your home is `L' shaped, it would be good to break the room into two `rectangles' using a divider. If you are using a divider to block the view of the toilet/ main entrance, it need not necessarily be of full height i.e. not necessary to be up to the height of the ceiling. So long as if one stands at the main entrance and cannot see the toilet door it (the toilet door) no longer becomes a `threat' or Sha Qi. The other option is to close the toilet door when not in use. …

Dear Faten, 1. Feng Shui and other Chinese divinity methods is about trying to increase our `LUCK'. 2. Overall, we have commented usually only about the interior of the home. 3. Factors such as the Shapes and Form of the site, the external environment need to be taken into consideration. Plus other `LUCK' factors that may not have been taken into consideration. 4. Therefore, as you had mentioned only, we are currently `focused' only about part of the `LUCK' or a percentage of the overall `LUCK'. Thus one may still achieve overall luck in other areas. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, It is good to use a white primer first. Although it has nothing to do with FS. As long as the colour has been changed; what cannot be seen can no longer `influence' or be used. Therefore, by painting the wall rosy beige, it will be `influnenced' by this colour. Therefore, in my opinion, it does not matter that you have to remove the black paint first. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  7. Dear Anon, 1. Please confirm, by standing at the front door area facing out of the house. Does the lampost or tree seem to `slice' thru the front door? 2. You mentioned that "the tree with lampost behind it. Do you mean that the lampost is furthest away and is blocked by the tree which in turn; can be seen `slicing' the front door? If so, you can place two potted plants on both sides of the front door. Or, if you do not like the above option, you can hang a Ba Gua mirror above the front door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

    1. Further to what I mentioned earlier, it is always good to exercise moderation when applying Feng Shui. 2. It should not be a case where we turn our lives `upside' down trying to `fit' ourselves to meet FS standards. But rather, we should exercise moderation, when applying Feng Shui. 3. Many of us, read widely about the `Do's and Don'ts' of FS. For many people, they simply carry on with their daily lifes after applying some of the best FS practises. 4. If we take FS `too seriously' it results in only the equivalent of trying to do "interior decoration" to our home or control our lives. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear A B, Under traditional Feng Shui, many FS practitioners would recommend that the bedroom colours be in harmony with the element of the child. In addition, the bed should be placed in a favourable position. The study table should face the child's good direction. (All these come under the Eight House theory). The understanding of Yin and Yang concept is equally important. For the bedroom especially for an adult, the bedroom should normally be more `Yin' than yang. As this should be the place of rest for an adult. Unless the adult is taking up studies and staying e.g. in a dormitory. Where, there should be a balance between yin and yang. For a child's bedroom (who is g…

  11. Dear Viren, In my opinion, it is best to relook at your Marketing and Sales strategy, first. Here, `packaging' of your product and how it can achieve sales through the distribution channels. As Feng Shui or Chinese divinity methods, emcompass a wide field especially for a company. It is harder to apply Feng Shui or Chinese divinity methods as a full scale of methods i.e. depth and breath may have to be used such as analysis of : owner(s); the company's location; the owner(s) Pillars; the owner's home. In fact, a whole barrage of Feng Shui and Chinese divinity methods may have to be used in a holistic way in order to improve one's `luck' or the company's luck. What I feel…

Dear Chloee, 1. Generally, what this means is that the house may not be that suitable to you and your boyfriend. Under the Eight House concept, there is really not much one can do here but to understand Para 1. 2. Other considerations are: 2.1 Hopefully, this house has excellent or good Shapes and Forms. Usually, if a house has a quantum leap in Feng Shui such as mentioned under Para 2.1; although the house may not be that suitable to the owners, it can still bring great wealth, harmony especially if the Shapes and Forms is excellent. 2.2 The other method is to check on the birth chart of the house such as using Flying Star. Some of us, may not want to dwell deeper using …

Dear Faten, In the future, please use the online reports Free House Hunting report under the List of Wizard Report to assist you. Generally, the house is your husband's spook and your irritation. This means the house is not suitable for both of you. Since this is a suitability issue there is very little you can do to correct this unsuitability, simply you should avoid it. However, if you really still like the place, then make sure that the bedroom which you intend to sleep in is at least auspicious for you (based on the Eight House) and that the Feng Shui of the House is auspicious in its main door and bedroom (based on the Flying Star). Then fix up any problem areas in …

Dear Colleen, 1. For questions such as what colour should my bedroom be or what colours suits me you should make use of the your Personal Element Free report to determine your personal element. Eg. weak wood Would mean that your favourable elements are water & wood. Water => blue, black, gray Wood => green, brown So generally you can make use of these as your favourable colours. 2. For painting colours in a house. Generally, our advice is to leave it white (as it represents metal which is the most common cure for most problem). However, other colours are off-white colours which will make the house bright. Do not use dark colours eg. dark red, dark blue, instead …

  15. Dear Himanshu, You should follow the graphical representation as shown below:- When a direction is WEST, you should read it as this way depending on where you are applying it:- 1. Working direction you should be in the position where WEST is your front while EAST is your back. 2. Sleeping position, is where you head is pointing to the WEST and feet to the EAST. 3. Bedroom location where the room is located to the WEST of the house. You can make use of the several bedroom location, bed direction, work direction and study direction free reports in the My FengShui section to help you determine these directions. Hope that helps. The free Flying Star House Number report analysis is meant for analysing apartment/flats and not landed properties i.e. single / double detached / terrace houses or any other landed properties. Dear Hiii, The origin of this has more to do with commonsense than Feng Shui as traditional Chinese homes do not have a bedroom above the kitchen. (Especially if the is built on wooden material). Therefore, this is more of a commonsense that has been added to Feng Shui in modern times. As we are aware, fire moves or spread upwards or thru an opening e.g. windows. Which may reach the upper floors. Here, it would make more sense to `invest' in smoke detectors i.e. in the kitchen (which should be loud enough) to warn anyone staying in the home. If need be, the room above, or passage way leading towards the room could also be installed with fire detectors / and a handy fire e…

Dear Laurelle, I agree that there can be `contradictions' in the application of Feng Shui. Should we place plants in the home? Even if one's element is for example an Earth person. We should also look at the external environment i.e. `threats'. `Threats' is an important component in how we apply Feng Shui. For example, if there is a threat to the main entrance... we try to neutralise it by using an element that destroys it. In the home, we should try to `cure' or neutralise `threats' or imbalances in the various sectors. This can be independent of our personal element. For example, if a cure required `wood' element or plants, we can still introduce it into the home. Even …

Dear BND, Most of the time, as an individual we want our individual apratment accessed. In such a situation, the front door is the door of your individual unit. (NOT the main entrance of the building). Usually, when the front door of the main building is being accessed, this is often done by a Feng Shui practitioner for the building owner. Dear Brenda, I hope you understand that the purpose of this forum is: 1. To clarify doubts or provide an opinion on the various FS practises. 2. To act as a catalyst 3. To help analyse / explain and interpret results. You may if you like to use the Free report under www.geomancy-online.com to generate the Flying Star report. I would not be able to help everyone to do all the mundane things like calculating out where users simply furnish e.g. a Date of birth, and in the next log in, expect all the homework done for them. The purpose of this forum is rather to try to provide quality `answers' if possible using quality time. Warmest Regards, Cecil

And it is very common to find a situation such as yours. 3. In Feng Shui, it is best to use this East/West group or commonly known as Eight House theory to: 3.1 Find out how suitable a house is to the breadwinner. 3.2 Locations where one spent time at. Such as the bedroom. 3.3 Sit facing a good direction ie. placement of table or for studying. 4. Where it comes to element interpretation such as one's house is South therefore, one has a Fire element should be taken `lightly' as it is …

Dear Brenda, 1. In my opinion, Feng Shui based on `sectors' is too general and I feel that it is an unreliable form. 2. The question I often ask myself is: How is it that each and everyone's SW is the marriage and romance corner? It is not possible especially if everyone tries to `enhance the sector. 3. I often quote the situation where there is say only 1 lady and three men have made much effort to enhance their SW. For example, one man placed 1 rose at the SW. While the second male placed 12 roses at SW. The third person places 100 roses at SW. 4. Does it mean that the one that enhances that sector the `most' eventually "gets" the lady? What if they all wait and as a r…
