Dear Debrah, I remembered clearly when I was young and at that time, firecrackers were not banned in my country. Each Chinese New Year, my parents would purchase lots of fire crackers and fire works. I remembered clearly that without fail, two rows of fire crackers measuring around 15 feet were hung on each side of my home's bunglalow house. It was nice to hear the crackers go off and at the end of it, the entire compound including the badminton court was littered in red. Lovely sight. Fire crackers are meant to:- 1. Scare away " evil spirits ". 2. Red symbolises Good Luck. I guess, you can say that fire crackers are part of the " Culture " or practises rather than Feng S…

I have 3 friends stay at the property name called 'The Rivervale' 1 facing punggol park, 1 facing the temple and another one is facing the Swimming pool. The husband staying at the one facing punggol park and temple died at mid age (around 43) and the one facing swimming pool is alway sick. Any big problem of the Feng Shui there, anyway can solve? In my opinion, it is best to seek expert advise, as no two units even on different levels are the same. Coincidentally, another development (a few km away from The Rivervale) called "The Rivervale Crest" condo has some problems, also:- 1. Please see my forum posting on Tue, 29 Jul 2003, 06:39 AM "2. Rivervale Cr…

Dear Master Lee, My new neighbour just moved in opposite my unit. They have a bagua at the back door, which kind of faces my front door, about 45 degrees; if I stand at my front door, I still can see it. We have a high fence and a tree semi-blocking it. The picture attached is the view from my front door. Can you please advise if there is any remedy? Thanks. Regards, Wayne

Dear Yumeko, 1. Usually, it is advisable not to do anything prior to the `symbolic move'. 2. However, the customs differ greatly. And some may:- 2.1 Sprinkle rice and/or salt. 2.2 Some bring in a pair of mandarin oranges (where the oranges represent gold). Frankly, majority simply go in and open the door when one get's the key. As mentioned, if one wants to do a `ritual' or first time opening of the door, one can do nothing or any of the above or more. In my opinion besides rice and/or salt; there are too many variations e.g. placement of Red Packets (ang pow); purchase of `Huat Quay' Warmest Regards, Cecil

The house sits on a high ground with the back land sunken where a tall building sits. Are there ways to solve this? Unfortunately moving is not an option now.

Dear Garance, There are three Feng Shui emporiums in "The Feng Shui Awards" Page. If you have the time, check out these emporiums. I have a link at this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/award.htm I am sure, you can find your Luo Pan. I am not mistaken, in the above award page, check out " Roger Green's" site, in the past, I remember him selling an English version but I remembered it was quite expensive at $4xx.00USD (Cannot really remember this). Alternatively, you can buy a Plastic Feng Shui kit by Kwok Man Ho, I have a link in the books section i.e. http://www.geomancy.net/books/fs.htm Another alternative is to get the book Feng Shui by Derek Walters. Click here to see t…

1. Really sorry to hear about it. (The constructions coincide withthe two of the worst sectors for this year 2010) 2. In the meantime, the best that can be done (crossing fingers) is to place "metal" between your home and the "offending" construction(s):- 2.1. Temporary purchase those aluminium foil and if windows or bay window areas at waist height face the construction then consider temporary placing aluminium foils. And for open areas (without damaging the fixtures) try to hang wind-chime to "counter" partially the issue(s). 3. As for shifting to another home:- 3.1 One major concern is hopefully the next apartment is a better one than this one else, it goes back to squ…

Further to what I mentioned, the "clapsed hand" or "closed hand" of the two blocks symbolised "closed opportunites". Please see attached illustration.

1. Frankly, in several of the past messages; the house number analysis is better used in situations for a new development where many of the stacks and units are available. 2. Here, for example within a stack; one can quickly check which level or storey or floor is better. For example stack #08 has most of the units available. For example; stack #9 could be better than say #7 or #10. In such situations. 3. In a "no-choice" or highly limited choice senario of resale homes; even if another unit in the same stack is better; and if no one wants to sell it; not much use, here. 4. In the final situation: Shapes and Forms and things like plotting out the Flying Star chart for tha…

Dear Julia, Frankly, there is not much one can enhance in a small apartment. Where possible, try to make it as `cosy' as possible depending on the one's needs. Needs depend on:- Whether the apartment is used as a `haven' to return to after busy work schedule or used partially for sleep and study. The major principle of Yin and Yang can be applied in the room. Such as making the room more Yin (for good night rest) or semi-yin and yang (for study/relaxation or sleep). Please see below:- Realistically speaking, not much one can do here. It is good to close the bathroom door when not in use. If there is the luxury of a side table; one can place a lamp on it to serve a…

1. Usually, the most visual concern is that of the visible roof and spine of the church. Usually the spine is usually the christian cross signage. 2. Here, the most common issue is if one were to stand in the apartment and can see the pointed roof or the spine, then this could be a sha qi. 3. Sometimes, even the roof of the house next to the church or if it has a tv antennae pose a threat; not to say that only the church may pose a threat.

It is always good to "visualise" roughly where - if possible the closest point to or the exact location of the "centre of gravity" of a home. If one is totally not sure, then, try to paste a copy of the layout plan on a cardboard. Then cut-out the outline of the entire layout plan. Then try to balance the entire layout plan onto a piece of nail. (If one can visualise, your original centrepoint in my opinion, will most likely not be balanced on a pin or nail point. Quote: Anonymous wrote: Thank for your prompt reply. Based on your suggestion, you have ignored the contributing factor of the BEDROOM 3 into the determination of the centerpoint. May i know when we should inc…

Dear Anon, If you are applying the Eight House than, you have to use South West (the door to get into your apartment). I like to clarify that if you are using another theory i.e Flying Star and wanting to place water features or mountain support, it is best to use the frontage of the building. A good example is that under such a situation, if say metal elements are detected at the frontage of the building, it is a good candidate for a water feature. Since you do not `own' the exterior of the building, even when you apply Flying Star Feng Shui, best to use say South West or the interior of your home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

1. This free report can find out whether an apartment'sunit number is suitable or not:- http://www.geomancy.net/reports/reports-list/hselist-houseno.htm 2. There is no scientific proof thatstrong magnetic field can affect one's health. This includes sub-stations and even those MRI's used in hospital where the magnetic field is 100 times those of sub-stations. 3. In fact, there are many private apartmentsand even condos that have sub-stations much closer thanyou mentioned. For example, the Meyer Place condo; a substation is just belowone of the units. 4. Many condos e.g. Dahlia park; and 100's more condos with substations and units close-by to them. 5. Therefore, if …

In my opinion, external (MACRO-Feng Shui) influences such as moderately fast and unclean water flowing.. has to be further investigated. Especially as the direction of flow, the angle or curve of flow if any. If you know how to plot a flying star chart and use it; then you can still try to improve the MICRO-level (within four walls) Feng Shui of your home.

Dear Gina, Frankly, it is very difficult for me to give advise based on general statements. Hope you understand. As for a mirror at a staircase landing... this can be considered a good thing (especially) if it is a private home where one has an upper floor. A mirror at the starcase landing is side to help or aid Qi flow upwards (up-stairs). However, if it is common property.. I am not sure if the landlord allows it. Frankly, I find it "not advisable" to hang a crystal ball from the top frame of the door. However, if I were given the choice, I would rather place 6 coins inside the house (above the same door frame instead of a crystal ball). Here, the belief is that perhaps…
