General Help

Seek General Advice from Master Cecil Lee

  1. Dear Kristina, 1. In my opinion, based on your initial feedback that the hous is beautiful, large and airy... you could perhaps, first apply the adage " If it ain't broken, don't fix it.". 2. Many people, actually do not need the help or `assistance' of Feng Shui to prosper or enjoy good luck. 3. This is because, majority of the time, a house with good Shapes and Forms (both external and internal of the house) provides a quantum leap in `LUCK'. 4. Feng Shui and other Chinese divinity methods is in some sense, all about increasing one's `LUCK'. 5. If one has a quantum leap i.e. excellent Shapes and Form; this is already a significant boost in LUCK. Any additional increa…

Dear Gagan, 1. Usually, this is due to the sickness #2 and/or #5 (Flying Star Theory) within certain areas of your home particuarly the bedroom. 2. In general, without much investigations using the above theory, you could try placing 6 i-ching coins tied with a red string and hang it above the room. (Usually, an FS audit should be done in such situations to determine the exact location). However, you may try to place it around the bed area. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  3. Dear Gail, 1. Yes, it is considered inauspicious to have the front door open to steps. 2. If there is some distance between the two; then a divider or a screen could be used to neutralise this or (I am not sure how `ugly' a curtain or beads look) but the concept here is: `if it cannot be seen (stairs) it no longer poses a threat'. 3. In addition, take sometime to look out of the front door and windows to look out for any `poison arrows'. Here poison arrows usually refer to pointed objects or an edge of a building pointed towards the front door or windows. Or it could be a lone lamp post `slicing' thru the window or door. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Chee Kiat, In my opinion, there is really not much one can do in such a situation especially since this is the building. Since the toilets are there, it can be quite different from a home especially if the ratio of toilet area is much smaller than the entire building and in most cases, the toilet bowls may not be exactly at the centre or ideally should occupy one external wall. (if possible). What is more important here is that where possible, your office's main door should not be facing the toilet entrance. I believe this is not so; in your case. It would be better if the toilet has double doors or an extra door; leading into the male/female toilet or an individual…

Dear Betty, 1. For pictures associated with the ocean, so far, (in my opinion) the belief is not to have a picture of a stormy sea. Or to have a fish tank in the bedroom. 2. But in your case, it is my opnion that it is still perfectly acceptable to have an ocean theme in your bedroom i.e. to have shells and pictures (calm weather pictures). 3. Sometimes, in my opinion such books or authors cause unwarranted/unnecessary alarm to everyone especially if the information is "sketchy ". `Water' element would be particulary benificial to a person who is either : weak water or strong fire person. Dear Pam, In Buddhism, in the past, monks used to supplement their `income' or donations to their temple by offering `readings' such as the " Three lives " or using bone divination. Here, a reading is done for one's past life, present life and future life. Where one's past has an influence on the present and perhaps the future (or roughly equating to the Krama, you had mentioned). Some of the " Three Lives " can be incorporated into another variation of Pillars of Destiny module. You have brought up an interesting issue on `Karma' and currently, in some aspects being a " bad person " has varing degrees and can also be a subjective issue. The terms of reference of Feng Sh…

The story about the Five Coloured Paper used in Qing Ming: In ancient China, there was once an Emperor who took over the throne. After he took over the throne, he visited the location where his father was buried. Legend was that he looked everywhere but could not find the tomb. He nearly gave up until, one of his loyal aids; asked him to throw the `five coloured paper' (which can also be written on). He threw the `five coloured paper' and one of them was lodged in the grass field. True enough, it was his father's tomb. Hence, it was said that from that day onwards, Chinese besides giving offering also placed colourful paper (5 types of colours) and insert them around th…

Dear Jennifer, It is quite difficult to understand your exact layout. Perhaps, you can upload a sketch of it for me be better understand your layout. Usually, the table is situated either facing the window or at its side. You mentioned that the large window is at (facing) the north and the door is at the (back) south. In such a situation, does the window have either blinds (preferred) or curtains. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Patricia, Regarding Health related problems, it is usually caused by the following:- 1. It could be because you are staying in a bedroom which happens to fall within your bad sectors based in the 4 good and 4 bad directions (Eight House Report). Most likely you are staying in a bedroom sector which is Death or Disaster. Or sleeping in your Death or Disaster. If this is the case, you should try to sleep at least in one of your good sectors such as Health or Longevity. Or re-locate yourself in a better bedroom which is one of 4 good sector. Please use the Free Eight House report to help you determine this. 2. There could be likely a combination of illness/sickness st…

Was checking the forum for questions missed or still unanswered and found this message. Here is the reply:- Generally, sometimes there is very little options for placement of such objects. Anyway, feel free to place them where ever you feel it serves you easily. Generally, you should be more concerned if say the bedroom where you sleep is not in your 4 good directions or if you are the breadwinner and that the main door is not in your 4 good directions. Otherwise, on other minor areas such as some object placement, you should be free to be able to decide where you want to place. In terms of the kitchen, if you really want to be Feng Shui friendly. Then make sure you place…

  12. Generally, it is not very good to have the bedroom door open out directly into the front door. So few things you can do is keep your door close or to have some kind of partition which blocks the chi from going from the main door directly into the bedroom, it should be allowed to circulate the living room etc before it goes out of the house. As for your best sleeping direction, you can make use of the Bed and Bedroom position free report found in the My FengShui (http://login.geomancy.net) and see where is the best placement for your bed / bedroom position. Sometimes you may have not much chooce for the placement as your bedroom is limited in size, so if you cannot adjust …

  13. Dear Sheridan, For example, if you are a strong Wood, then the few colours that are good for you are based on your favourable elements. Favaourable Colours for strong Wood is Fire and Metal, so colours are red, white / gold. For example. So you have to use the Pillars of Destiny report in the My FengShui website (http://login.geomancy.net) to help you determine your true birth element. Well, few things you can do. Using the Eight House Report where you will determine all your 4 good and 4 bad directions try to face in the directions which are your 4 good directions. This will bring you good luck especially if you can face in your Prosperity or Excellent direction.…

  14. Dear Shelly, Sorry, I don't understand here why you must counter the Metal. Even if you are say a weak wood, it is not necessary to be so specific and get rid of all Metal objects. You will need a little of all elements in your life (good or bad elements). What you need is to balance everything else. This means that for example if you are a weak wood. Then simply enhance yourself by wearing more Water based element colour that will help offset the balance. If you are refering to East bing Wood element direction or influence, and that the Metal will disturb it, I think you have nothing to worry as the objects when compared to directional influence, is of no great importanc…

Hi, It might help you to go to a local library and see if they have any books on FS. I say this because you generally need to figure out your KUA number, which is based on your year of birth. Once you have this, the book will list your best directions and locations. This site also has links that may help you determine your directions and recommendations for books. Hope this helps, -j

Dear Andy, Usually, objects such as these lions should be placed (preferably) outwards or at the both ends of the main entrance. It is common to find a pair of Lion statues `guarding' main entrances of many Chinese buildings. Majority of the time, because of the size of the statues, it acts as a `cosmetic' decor to the building. Somehow, perhaps, it gives confidence to both visitors and owners of the place. Your lions may not be exactly that large (or huge). Perhaps, it can be placed as a decorative item i.e. on the floor on both ends of the display cabinets. Do check the `face' of the lions: Are they `majestic' or do they give a fierce look? If they `give' a fierce look,…

  17. Dear Shelly, In my opinion, Feng Shui does not have all the answers to your situation. Perhaps, it is more a coincidence right now. (Under the Eight House Theory, it refers to the time spent at (that) specific location.) At this time, focus more on how best you can get through this situation and if need be, see if you can find support from your family members (especially your own parents / or next of kin). Or if there is a (possiblilty remote or otherwise) to recover from the situation. In my opinion, this is not the best time to find support from a Feng Shui perspective (thou) it may sound tempting... Try to find a listening ear.. for your problems / or to seek advise …

  18. Dear Lawrence, If I understand correctly, your bathroom door is quite a distance from your bedroom (but directly facing each other). This is secondary, and in my opinion, you could (if you can) close your bedroom door instead. 1. Usually, the impact is greater if the toilet is part of the bedroom. 2. If the toilet bowl is not visible from the toilet door, this even much better. Overall, I would not be too overly concerned in your situation. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Elizabeth, 1. In Feng Shui, the front door especially at the frontage is considered the mouth of the house. 2. Primarily, this location should have clear space. 3. Thus, in my opinion, it does not matter if one place a fs turtle at this location. The main thing to avoid is to make sure that the front door is `protected' from sharp corners of other buildings or lone lamp posts that could `slice' thru the main door. Equally important is to avoid any objects with its mouth opened facing the main entrance area. 4. Even if the north = water element does not matter since this is the front area. Purchasing a `fs turtle' in my opinion, is just a decorative item... in such a …

Dear John, In my opinion, you can consider the (I believe) the beautiful brick facade as a decoration. It need not be `balanced' directly. You can try to make the apartment as cosy as possible to your taste. So far, I come across many homes with such beautiful facade and in my opinion do not pose any problems. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  21. Dear Anon, For serious books on history of Feng Shui i.e. city planning in the past (Chinese cities), you can check out the few books written by Dr Evelyn Lip (Times Publication). Try to do a search e.g. in the internet book stores such as amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com for the author. For new books on city planning... in relation to FS.. this is, in my opinion, hard to come by. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  22. Dear Bonnie, I truly understand your problem. It is never easy to apply Feng Shui to a small apartment. Usually, for small apartments, we cannot really do much and have to rely on the Feng Shui influences of the entire building. Enhancing Qi (by whatever means) in a small apartment can thus be frustrating or furtile. In most instances, or for such cases, our individual LUCK (since Feng Shui is about some form of LUCK) would help us. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Lucyane, If there is sickness, 258 combination seems mostly likely the case especially with the #2 sickness and #5 misfortune combination together. You can use the 6 white in this case. Quickly, see if the `metal cure' can be implemented as soon as possible. I would strongly recommend the 6 metal coins tied with red string. But, you may choose other metal cures (if you want to). I am not sure what stage is the cancer. But if the metal cure can be immplemented real fast, it would be of great help to the health (especially if one is staying in the house). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Koslan, Please see below:- 1. Thank you for raising this intriguing question. 2. Aside from the 33.3% ruleset, symbolism plays a role in Feng Shui: 2.1 For instance, when implementing a metal cure, it is not mandatory to utilize large amounts of 'metal'. In this context, 'Big metal' or substantial quantities of metal are symbolized by the number 6. Consequently, 6 i-ching coins are frequently employed to signify 'large quantities of metal'. 2.2 In reference to Para 2.1, we observe that adherence to the 33.3% ruleset is not required, allowing us to alternatively apply 'symbolism' in Feng Shui. 3. Applying a wood cure can be particularly challe…

Dear Jane, In my opinion, this is the first time I come across the comment that growing money plants would take away luck. Perhaps, some may consider the money plant a vine. This is because, it has the ability to grow roots and cling on to walls. Maybe because of this perception that it may take away luck. Otherwise, in my opinion, there should not be any issue on this. Warmest Regards, Cecil
