Dear Anne, For an `L' shaped layout or even a distorted `L' shaped layout plan, it is usually best to divide the `L' into two rectangles or two squares. Each rectangle/square is evaluated overlaying the 9-square grid. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  2. Started by drew,

Dear Andrew, 1. In my opinion, the concept of South-West corner = Romance and others like North = career is considered too general. 2. With careful reasoning, how is it that this can be applied to everyone. If this is the case, everyone doing this i.e. enhancing the SW will automatically get into a romance. It sounds too easy.. rite? 3. One would better off, go do something more fruitful than to rely on such a method. 4. Often, the same question arise - Oh My God.. my toilet is at the " South-West ". Does it mean that romance is flushed down the toilet. 5. Lets be more practical. It does not mean that if 100,000 people enhance a specific corner such as South West, it will…

  4. Started by sweetie,

Dear Anon, 1. I quite understand your situation. Nowadays, it is difficult for many homes to have a good placement of the stove - to the `advantage' of the homeowner or spouse. 2. If the above is not auspicious, other considerations are: 2.1 The stove should have a `solid backing' e.g. be placed against a wall instead of having a window at it's back. 2.2 Where possible, it should not have a beam above it. Or if possible, water pipe should not be criss-crossing it e.g. in the kitchen cabinet. 2.3 If the kitchen is at the north sector (water element) of the house, ideally, the stove should not face a water position such as the wash basin. As the `warmth' of the stove may be…

  5. Started by springbennett,

Dear Spring, Currently it is difficult to visualise the good luck plant you are referring to. But if it is the Money Plant, then it is also known as crassula ovata. For a money plant it is more a vine (plant) than bamboo. Alternatively, I am not sure if you are referring to the Hyacinth or hyacinthus orientalis. This is a upward growing plant. It flowers with either pink, light yellow, blue or white. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  6. Started by wasis,

Dear Wasis, If the tree is still alive: 1. Check for any evidence of `roting' or decay. If e.g a branch had decayed and part of the branch breaks leaving part of the broken branch hanging like a `poison' arrow; make sure that this `arm' or branch gets "amputated" as soon as possible. *JOKE* Seriously, if one stands at the main entrance and facing out of the house, if the broken branch `act's like a knife cutting thru the house, then, cut off this branch as close as possible to the tree trunk. 2. On a regular basis, if the roots are visible, check if it is hollow / if possible the tree truck also with some solid object. If it sounds `empty', decay could have set in. I do n…

  7. Started by arisma,

Further to what I mentioned earlier, there are many ways of looking at the nos: 1. If we add up 1 + 2 + 4 = 7. Since we are in Period 7 (1983 to 2004), the combined nos 1, 2 & 4 which is 7 can be seen as good or auspicious for this period. However, the argument by others is that no. 7 should be one of the nos instead of adding it up. Thus perhaps a house no. 127 is better? 2. We can look at your house no. based on Yin and Yang concept: 2.1 Where Yin nos are considered even numbers while odd nos are considered Yang. Thus your house number is made up of: 1, 2, 4 which is 1 = Yang 2 = Yin 4 = Yin Where 1 is considered a starting number or symboically the beginning. Whe…

  8. Started by TT,

Dear Anon, I believe, what you mentioned is a very common dilemma `affecting' many (many couples/families). Thus one consolation is that you are not alone in this. In many of the messages on Eight House concept in this forum: 1. It is good if the death or disaster sector is not at the main entrance particularly for the `breadwinner.' 2. The breadwinner is one who is considered to bring in the most money to the family. 3. Other than this, we should look at the sleeping sectors and what intangible force affects each member of the family. 4. Here, for example, if the bedroom is at North compass direction and is not a favourable direction for the husband but is a good sector …

  10. Dear Eva, 1. The most common Compass School techique of the Eight House Theory is to look at the compatiblity of the house to the breadwinner. 2. I am not sure if I got your question correct, but perhaps, I believe what you meant was whose profile to use? If this is the case, usually it is the person who earns the most for the house. Thus for a suitable house i.e. front door, should be favourable to the element of the breadwinner. As Feng Shui is a holistic method, we should also for example look at each family member especially in relation to the intangible force at their bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Susan, 1. Yes, the degree of `accuracy' depends on the depth in which Feng Shui is analysed. As you have mentioned, a person's analysis can be done at a general level e.g. by looking at his/her YEAR of birth. On the other hand, at a more specific level is to look further into the YEAR, MONTH, DAY and HOUR of birth. 2. Traditionally, Feng Shui at the `health' of the `property' such as the environment, the site, the land, the building. It looks at the inanimate objects. 3. What you are referring to is Pillars of Destiny or equally called Eight Characters, Ba Zi or Four Pillars. 4. The reason is because the foundation of Traditional Chinese method is the Five Elements …

Dear Seema, In my opinion, this area has to do with `beliefs' than Feng Shui. It is said that Feng Shui has an influence on a specific area of our `luck'. There is more towards, Earth Luck. `Luck' is diverse and it is said that there are many types of luck. A `genuine' gift can be considered a positive statement and whatever we do or feel, should be positive. Feeling `positive' e.g. about our environment such as reminisent of a gift i.e. such as lauging buddha in your culture, could perhaps give a good feeling. Being positive is good even if it does not have a direct relationship with Feng Shui. Contrary to the belief that we should place our eggs into one basket i.e. Ho…

Dear Patti, 1. Before coming to your question, for those who are new to Chinese customs, can find that during the wedding, for some Chinese, it is a custom to get a `handsome' baby boy to roll on the wedding bed several times. In the hope that the couple becomes fertile and give birth to a MALE child. 2. It is thus a taboo to allow a baby GIRL to roll on the bed! Wait.. u mean even if it is such a beautiful FEMALE child... Unfortunately, yes. 3. From my personal experience, what you mentioned dwell more on beliefs than Feng Shui. 4. Due to our present lifestyle and even (I believe) the food that we eat etc... fertility has more to do with us then on Feng Shui. 5. In some…

  14. Started by myfs_40188,

Dear Patti, In Traditional Feng Shui, the emphasis is on: 1. Shapes and Form. Where the bed should be placed in a `natural' shapes and form position. 2. For example, against a wall and if possible, the bed should not be on the same wall as the bedroom door. 3. Where possible, the bed should not share the same wall as the toilet wall especially the toilet bowl. 4. Ideally, there should not be a toilet linked to the master bedroom at all. In the past, toilets are located `outside' of the house. 5. But for modern day convenience, this no longer holds true. 6. I believe, what you mentioned is based on the Eight Aspirations or Eight Associations/Life Apiration concept where …

Dear Chew Chin, Please see below:- Currently, I am in the 1. In the master You can apply the concept " If one cannot see it, it no longer becomes a threat ". So long as it is covered varing the height of the wall, it is ok. Where possible, give a higher height i.e. minimal false ceiling would be a better alternative as it gives a feeling of "space" rather than an enclosed feeling. The other alternative is to use two bamboo flutes e.g. -------------- beam / \ use two flutes / \ -------------- Place two wooden flutes to form the top profile of a Ba gua trigram. Here, the wooden flutes represent the Wood element where wood is used to destroy Earth or th…

  17. Started by Kewpie,

Dear Anon, In my opinion, the interpretation is based on the address only. More importantly, depending on your level of usage of traditional methods or if one is only a `passer-by' of Feng Shui; other analysis are a better alternative: Such as correct shapes and form, avoiding poison arrows aimed at the house. These are easier to apply. More advanced methods such as Flying Star/Pillars depends as I mentioned above, on the level of your participation or non-participation in them. `Troubled mother' in terms of numerology implies `worries' of a parent (based on direct Chinese translation) of the combination of 3, 4 and 1 numbers. 18. Started by myfs_40108,

In general, I believe you have done your best for the new office. For a long corridor (if there is sufficient space), plants on alternate side at intervals would be `nice' to have for Qi manipulation. More importantly, the location of key personnel's table position such as you and your partners are critical also. Bear in mind Shapes and Form techniques to place the table not by itself but against say a wall. It is equally favourable to site at a good direction or facing position i.e. The Eight House facing chart. If possible, you and your partner's table/seats should be located at the back (and especially good) if there is a wall acting as a solid backing behind both of …

Dear Kathlene, Currently, based on the Flying Star for this Lunar year i.e. 16 Feb 1999 to 4 Feb 2000, the bad earth element is at the South compass. Where possible, it is considered unfavourable to have a mirror at this sector as it could inadvertenly bounce back twice the `bad luck' at this sector. In my opinion, it is best to avoid having a mirror at this sector for the above period. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  20. Started by brandilla,

Dear Brandi, In my opinion, I personally feel that it is advisable not to have a water position on the sector mentioned. So long as there is clear space at the frontage (with or without water position) is acceptable. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  21. Started by springbennett,

Dear Spring, I am not sure what u mean when you mentioned that the `Site said' this was a bad home address. This is because, if you are referring to the House Number Free Flying Star report at www.geomancy-online.com it mentions that the report is used to look at the vertical houses i.e. apartments/flats. The House Number Free Flying Star report cannot be used to look at landed properties. The Flying Star Theory can only look at horizontal levels. While Flying Star House Numbers for Apartments is used to look at it vertically as it is said that no house has the same FS on different levels. Appreciate, if you can check again. Dear Judy, Many of the photos of auspicious symbols provided under " MyPictures " http://my.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/imagefolio.cgi are standard Chinese symbols that are used widely in Chinese art. For example, many of the motifs are painted on porcelain figurines, plates and other cutlery. While other designs are found on `antique' rosewood furniture, or carved onto wooden panelling, window `grille designs', external wall facade decors, decorative panels in temples etc... Many of the motifs therefore can be found in Chinese `art' items including clothing, embrodiery, carpets etc... Thus, in my opinion, I would not exactly say that all designs will bring about `aus…

The number of online reports have grown tremendously and there are quite a no. of them. We will try to add as many of them into the above Topic as soon as possible. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  25. Started by myfs_39769,

Dear Ryan, Under Feng Shui, there is a concept which I termed the 33.3% ruleset. Under this concept, anything not larger than 33.3 percent normally would not pose any effect on the surrounding. For example, of a `missing corner' in a building. It has to be 33.3 percent `missing' from the sector of the house. This is why, usually when we paint the wall, and if we paint quite a large area of a room it would normally exceed 33.3 percent. In the same parallel, the little turtles would usually not have any effect. Therefore, place it somewhere both you and your girlfriend feels comfortable with. (Other than the bedroom). Warmest Regards, Cecil
