Dear Anon, All over the world, many of us work either in an open office and use system furniture and are not able to or (have the luxury) of placing our table to our good directions. So this is indeed a consolation to you. Based on the holy trinity of luck:- 1. Heaven luck - what is given to us (Ba zi) 2. Earth luck - the office environment is only of the other factors. Other factors include our home. 3. Human or man luck - given that currently one is quite constrained on the earth luck i.e. unable to face a good direction for work, then, we should make use of our man or human luck to good use i.e. be a good team player and work smart ...not necessarily hard War…

Dear Kris, Please see below:- 1. There is a difference seeing three light lamp posts. This is because, from a window, most of us could see several objects. 2. What is more important is to check to confirm whether: does it `slice' thru the window? 3. If do, the most effective method is "if it cannot be seen, it no longer becomes a threat" i.e. a simple day curtain (that allows light to come-in, yet, can screen out the view.) Or the use of a window blind. 4. THE FISH TANK 4.1 Under traditional Feng Shui, some Feng Shui practitioners advise on the placement of a fish tank at the window area. However, please note that it is best that the breadwinner or his/her spouse is n…

Dear Anon, One size does not fit all when it comes to auspicious dates as at least both bride and bridegroom's ba zi have to be looked at and date(s) selected based on this. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Nisha, It is understandable, when you mentioned that you are only a tenant and would like to have many of your favourite things in your bedroom. Yes, I do encourage you to make first and foremost your room as comfortable with all your favourite things! It does not matter if there are fishes. But, it brings you both pleasure and comfort - GO FOR IT! The logic here is based on this understanding: 1. Often, many good FS practitioners will stick to or advise their clients on the Holy Trinity of Feng Shui: 1.1 Heaven Luck - what is given to us 1.2 Earth Luck - our abode / work place 1.3 Human Luck - what brings us happiness:) Sometimes, for some, we have limited earth luc…

Hi Mary, Finding work is probably work itself. I know many many people who do not practice Feng Shui and still are able to find good jobs. Here are some of my suggestions to enhance your luck with work. 1. Get educated. Beats working for McDonalds and settling into a career that you enjoy doing will take you to success. 2. Go for a make over. Change bad habits, create a positive attitiude. Be confident in yourself and if needs be, get a nice hair cut and upgrade your clothes. 3. Aim for the top. Companiesneed tolook at you as a valued worker rather than a burden to the company. 4. Excercise. Keeping yourself in good shape and good health will improve the soul. 5. S…

Dear Master Cecil, iv>I would like to thank you for your informative website. Recently i had been reading the available resources and forum messages.iv> Curre ntly i m staying in a bunk and would like to enhance my career. Came across some advice on placing a picture of aspiration in the N of the room. The photo is of a jet with the pilot visible and it is pointing to the bottom left of the picture. the photo frame is black in colour but is made of wood. Does it neutralise or create negativity since water feeds wood and water is said to be in the north. And also if my wealth sector in the south, if i were to place a similar picture, the picture would be facing the d…

Dear Sachin, 1. Please do a search for the recent posting on measurements that you had requested. 2. I mentioned that the optimum measurement for desks is exactly mulitiples of 1 Feng Shui sq. feet or an area of 17 sq feet. For example your measurements below should be in muliples of 17. E.g. 17 inches, 34 inches, 51 inches, 68 inches, 85 inches etc.. 3. Currently, the width of 34 x 34 is OK. But for the length, please subsitute it with any of the above multiples. 4. As mentioned above, the OPTIMUM auspicious area of a FEng Shui desk is to have it in multiples of 17 inches / sq Feng Shui foot. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Joan, The clue here is that both Eight House and Flying Star Feng Shui are compass school Feng Shui - specific to a home/location. Thus, between Eight House vs Ba Zi, it is often, better to consider more from a Eight House point of view, than the ba zi. However, if one uses the Ba Zi point of view, than, one should consider it in general i.e. the main entrance. For example, what is one's element and strength? If say one is a strong water person. Than, a south facing house is considered auspicious e.g. Strong Water destroys Fire (south). Thus is considered a good home for the breadwinner. Thus, when we use the ba zi analysis, do try to see if one is weak or strong v…

Dear Guest, 1. The rationale why, the "numbers game" is not used in Feng Shui is; as you had correctly pointed out: it is subject to so many different interpretations! 2. For some race (and dialect) groups, it could be based on phoentic sounds. 3. Since, numbers are to be interpretted so widely or diversly, it would seem furtile to argue which numbers are better. 4. Even in numerology, there are just too many schools. And where do we begin? 5. More importantly, if it is from a Feng Shui angle, often, it is not the number of the unit but rather: the external environment, the site, the building that plays an important part. 5.1 For example, we often find homes with `nice' n…

Dear Leonie, For a Flying star chart, it is easier to draw a "pie-chart" rather than a 9 grid type of chart. This is easier to apply, also. Warmest Regards, Cecil

hi master, please help me apply fengshui cures to my newly built master bedroom (still under construction). this bedroom is an extension of my house located right side wing facing the house. it is in the north section area. the bedroom ceiling is 8ft going down slope to 7ft. i will put screen divider to the master bedroom to make it into 2 bedrooms because we will share only one aircondition. if i will not put divider, the room will be an L shape. the master bedroom consist of 3 doors, the door (south)that is facing with kitchen door and the door(east) going to dirty kitchen with small living room (it is together) with door (south) going out to garage. the main house has…

Dear Kathy, 1. "We are opposites!!!" 2. Cecil: "So are We!!!!!!!!! " 3. In some of my past messages, it is best to take a three-step approach to understanding any concepts: 3.1. What is the purpose of the concept? 3.2. What are it's strengths? 3.3. What are it's weakness? 4. The eight house theory has more to do with how suitable a house is to us? 5. Does it imply "how suitable are we to each other? Yes/No? 6. I would say, NO! It does not mean that one should get separated, live apart and finally divorce! But, one day, MAYBE, it can become a LAME EXCUSE for someone wanting to `get-rid' of his/her marriage - for good! 7. Even in a bedroom, where there are `opposites'. I h…

Dear Ammie, The Jade at 9 Bukit Batok Central Link. Usually, if the MRT track runs parallel to the unit, this is acceptable. However, if the unit directly faces the MRT track, it can be quite noisy during the day (when the MRT is up and running). And usually, from a Feng Shui point of view, can be considered as "noise pollution". Some of us get used to it; others tolerate. But, if given a choice, best to avoid it -- if one can. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Amy, If you do not do any major renovations, your home will be considered to have a Period 6 birth-chart. Under Period 6, the number 6 is always considered an auspicious number. Even after Period 6, say even a house with double 6's (mountain and water star) is also acceptable - auspicious numbers. Given that the Number 6 is always an auspicious number, even under Period 1 to 9. But however, the number 7 is different. Under Period 7, any number = 7 is very auspicious. But after Period 7, this number turns to it's own bad number i.e. 7 = robbery or theft star. Therefore, a house with in Period 7 i.e. has a double 7's (very auspicious during Period 7) will "turn against…

Dear David, Thanks for the layout plan. The P.E.S. (personal enclosed space in this case should not be included, here). For such a low floor, you should take the main door as NE instead. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Melissa, 1. Many people would encounter the same problem that you have faced. Especially if one partner is an East House while the other is a West House person. 2. If one is currently finding a new house, then look at the intangible force affecting each spouse at the main entrance and their bedroom. Go for smoother combinations e.g.: Prosperity vs Irritation or other such combinations as opposed to combinations such as: Longevity vs death or disaster. Under Ba Zi Feng Shui, one should consider `binding elements' or elements that can help bind both partners. For example, Strong Metal person vs Weak Earth person, one should use a binding element e.g. Fire element. War…

Dear Charles, Given that this is a business premise, you can do an audit for: 1. External =========== Here, one should look at the site, the heart of the building and do a flying star from the middle of the building extending out. Purpose: water position(s), mountain positions and not forgetting shapes and forms FS. 2. Internal =========== If you are only investigating your office, it can be done. I am always open to those who provide a sketch to locate the centrepoint etc... If you have one will be better. Since, I often worry about commenting on descriptive sentences....I rather, not if I can. Hope u understand. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Earl, 1. Usually an apartment is unlike a landed property. Where at least is larger and much easier to analyse than a small tiny apartment. 2. For a small tiny apartment, one school of thought is to look at the entire building and determine the facing and sitting direction, here. This is especially more so since the entrance to an apartment can be at odd directions etc... In your case, if you cannot really determine the facing direction, than it is best to use the building's facing direction. As for your second question, it depends. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anooja, 1. For star 5 for a period 7 / 8 house in the center isn't a main issue. This is because usually the center is not where most bedroom or any important rooms are located. 2. Usually for center of the house, it should be kept empty as far as possible this is usually where all the different influence will meet at together so not wise to have too much of any elements. 3. A more major issue where some homes are affected with the presence of Star 9 and Star 5 are present at the same sector. This is because Fire will fuel the Earth Star. So this is not a major issue to worry about. http://www.geomancy.net/wbimages/smiles/icon_neutral.gif Hope that helps. Warmest R…

Hi Mr. Cecil, My question is concerning Birth Elements and how it plays in Personal/Business Relationships. I am a Strong Yin Earth Tiger who recently started my own business last october 08. I have a business partner who is my sister and she is a Strong Yang Wood Monkey. Business has been slow and has not picked up yet. Reason I ask this was I came across a friend and discussing Feng Shui and she asked about our Birth Signs/Elements. Being a Tiger and Monkey don't match. As far as our relationship as siblings we are very close and have a great relationship. But is it true that our Birth Elements could be contra to our luck being around each other? I hope you have an an…

Dear Sheila, Since traditional Feng Shui has two schools: Shapes and form as well as Compass (Eight House & Flying Star); it is best to apply both to the home in relation to other factors like Grand Duke of Jupiter (Tai Sui). If one is renovating or going to renovate the entire house, it is best to find an aupicious date to start renovations - this will do. And after the renovations, try to avoid any more work to sensitive sectors like NW, West and East. Therefore, this is the only consideration towards what not to do after a major renovation. If one is going to do minor renovations and it happens to fall within any of the above three sectors, then, see if one can …

Dear Anon, 1. A reasonable question asked is: ?Is this the only leak found in your home?" 2. Often, from my past experience, there is not just one leak (major) but several major leaks. Thus, in my opinion, taking this approach alone is too `simplistic' method. For example, if we try to `cover-our-backside'; it does not mean that our woes or problem may go away. In fact, we have protected our front-part which can be very vulnerable. Thus, we can still continue to be a " Virtual Eunuch "; even if we chopped down a tree. But it is an important step, nevertheless, if it poses or act as a poison arrow. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Robyn, Yes, the action to be taken, seems reasonable. So long as the pointed edges does not create a sha qi towards the main door, this is good i.e. cut it or "flatten it". There is no issue if it looks like a "crown" - with spikes above. As this can become a sha qi to neighbouring buildings. For the higher floors, just be careful to avoid it being seen inside the premises. For example, if one works inside the same building, the pointed spikes should not be seen inside the work area. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Besides the Shapes and Forms Feng Shui, one should apply the Compass School of Feng Shui: Eight House and Flying star. For the Eight House, you can use the free report(s) at www.geomancy-online.com to generate them based on the dates of birth given. In fact, there are other reports, but some of them are paid ones such as Finding a good house report. If all these sound Greek, then, hmm.... either if you do enjoy self-help, please try to burn some midnite oil - or alternatively, you can seek professional help, when you have found what you think is a suitable house. These are the two approaches to take. Warmest Regards, Cecil
