Dear Anon, Thanks for your description. In my opinion, it is inauspicious under the Shapes and Form Feng Shui for the staircase to be seen from the front door. Since it is inappropriate to use a screen, the door facing the staircase should not be opened. Overall, if you have a choice, (if you can) try to find another better house. As the above is bad Feng Shui and since one cannot use a screen; difficult to cure. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Desiree, Thanks for your clarification. In my opinion, stairs leading down may not necessariy mean bad energy. However, it has to be looked on a case-by-case basis. For example, in Singapore's Business District, there are some office buildings where were purposely built such that every one has to walk down (as you have described) to the lobby. Dear Viviana, Hope you can elaborate what you mean by "carrier zone." Are you refering to " Career ". Presently, there is no known effective cures for a staircase at the centre of the house. You may consider:- 1. One or two potted plants at the ground level. 2. This is optional and you may need to monitor but one can place a mirror a the staircase landing. (This is a traditional `cure'). Dear Ashwini, For the use of plants, it depends on situation. If for example, the stairs if directly facing your main door, there is one situation where it is near impossible to use the plants. Here, one cannot simply place the plant(s) blocking the stairs or blocking your main entrance. Dear Sherri, 1. The most effective method is to use a screen (where possible). Otherwise, an `average' alternative is to use plants on both sides of the stairs. Dear Ana, Please refer to the attached. In my opinion, the love seat is inappropriate to screen the main door from the staircase. It is best that a screen be used between the main door and the staircase. So long as the stairs is not seen, this will no longer become a threat. A few months ago, I encountered a case where my client redo the second level such that the staircase faces the main door. This is not healthy. Ever since, they had done so, and with other problems i.e. main door facing windows, these lead to many leaks in the home. The end result is that they continously face finacial problems. These are some considerations: 1. If a sector also has good qi especially those coming in thru a window, good to open such windows to allow qi to flow into the home and when doing so, it does help the centrepoint. 2. Usually after heavy down-pour; good to regularly air the entire home e.g. open all "openings" if possible for a short-while - for qi to refresh into the home. 3.
