General Help

Seek General Advice from Master Cecil Lee

  1. Dear Cheui May, 1. You should as you mentioned use curtains at the large sliding glass back door. 2. Is there any way of placing two potted plants on both sides of the steps or at the landing area of the steps. 3. Is it possible for you to draw a rough sketch of the triangle wedge shape or the area of the room u are occupying now. Where best, especially the bedroom, kitchen and the living room should not be having an odd shape. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, I recently had a bagua installed on front door due to poison arrow structure right outside my door step, but there's a blue sticker (i think those on mirror/metal/glass to protect from scratch) on it. The person insists it's not a sticker and that it is fine and asked me never to touch it. Is it ok to leave it like that or should I just remove it regardless?

Dear Anon, Here are some considerations for a patio:- 1. The best form (shape) is rectangular or square shaped. 2. The side wall or railing of the patio should not be fully clad with stone. Preferably, made of wood and to allow air to circulate thru it and into the home. Circulation of air in a home is one of the keey sucess factors for a home where qi can circulate into the home bringing in fresh air. 3. In particular, avoid a pond (especially a circular one) at the west corner of the patio especially if this is the west compass direction or known as the white tiger location. A pond here is symbolic of the white tiger's open mouth - ready to gobble down it's prey - thus …

    1. Frankly, if it is a bedroom wall, this (on it's own) is considered as an actual mountain vs a situation where it is an opened window. 2. Thus, the only person that you will make them happy by tiling or rock/stoning the wall is the contractor that does it for you. Here, they would be most happy to accomodate your requests as this means making some money from you. 3. Drawing a parallel, just this Tuesday morning, when I visited an existing client, as she requested for an annual review, she bought some Feng Shui articles from some shop. And the shop told her that she must not reuse certain items as the shop wanted her to buy more of it from them! 4. Actually, a mountai…

  5. Dear Esther, Usually, from a Feng Shui point of view, often, the bazi element of the person is matched with their bedroom colours. Overall, colours that often may have an impact on sickness is Bright Yellow and in some instances, Bright Yellow and Bright Red. In other instances, Bright Green is another colour to watch out. In general, safe colours are metallic colours or white or light pastel colours. Since the woodstove is black, blue is in my opinion (in general) still acceptable in the bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, Feng Shui cannot help you in this area. 2. I heard of other methods e.g. acupuncture etc... Alternatively, if this sounds `scary', perhaps, you would like to find other programs or join a help group on this. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  8. Dear Nini, Please see below:- This can be very subjective. And it depends on individuals. Some of us may be highly sensitive to certain issues e.g. storage below the bed. While others may not. Some of us have heard a tale, where a princess could not sleep even if there is a small piece of needle below her pillow case. Alternatively, it may be biological or some other issues/daily concerns/problems that make one unable to sleep. Frankly, there is not much one can do; other to do a test.. i.e. try removing the storage for a week and see if one still sleeps comfortably. (If this can be done). Your second question was addressed in another recent forum message. Warmest Reg…

Dear Sandy, I am not sure if you have any contraints i.e. rented room where you may not have sufficient storage area. In my opinion, it is always best to see if you can explore any possibility of stacking the boxes e.g. in a cupboard or ar a corner rather than placing it below your bed. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  10. Dear Anon, 1. Practical or applied Feng Shui does not come about like what you had mentioned. 2. Recently, I got calls from potential clients worried about how their new condo could be turned topsy turvy with Feng Shui. 3. One potential client mentioned that, there were so worried to engage the same Feng Shui practitioner as their relative. This was because, the Feng Shui practitioner asked them to tear down the newly built wardrope and kitchen cabinets. Of a new condo. 4. These are similar concerns echoed by at least 3 more callers that I had received. Hmm... in my opinion, doing so is indeed a waste of money. And quite a desperate move. Which is never fruitful. On the c…

Hello Master Lee, My husband and I are want to build on a corner lot facing east which faces a beautiful creek with lots of trees. However, there is a storm drain on the left of the house and there is also one on the other side of the street with a lamp post. Pictures are attached. The red line is where the storm drain is. Is this feng shui ok? Please help!

  15. House is facing West. There's a storm drain right outside the house, beside the garage doors' driveway (see picture) Is this bad? Since water flows through my driveway and into the drain, is that equivalent to water ($$$) draining off? If so, how do I prevent it? Or repel that? Since the storm drain is on the road, and it belongs to the city government, I don't think I can do anything about the drain. Thank you.

No, as it is covered up. The test is usually, from inside the compound of the home, can one see the drainage. For all landed properties, often, there are two exit points that "will bring wealth" depending on whether water flows to the left or right of the house. And often, a third exit point can bring "power and authority" to the home owner. If not sure, try to seek expert help from a Feng Shui professional. Dear Pam, Once a house has some water feature (ie drain etc). Then you have to consider the impact of the water course feng shui. Especially, the direction of the water flow as well as the shape of the drain. URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-wcourse.htm Generally, a drain near a house, poses a couple of problems typical problems like smell / flooding etc. Most of the time if you have a choice, it is best to avoid houses with such a drain if and where possible. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

Sorry to trouble you again because i don't really understand what you mean by "do not face the stairs".My staircase is split into 2 - the first sectiongoes up to an empty space, then the empty space turns180? to the second section. Iam placingthe sword at this empty space, i.e. People will see the sword as they look in front when walking up or down the stairs. Is this considered facing the stairs? should this be avoided. I also read from an article that the sword should be placed in a direction to give the owner an advantage, is there any direction (e.g. North, South, East, West) the sword should or should not face? Thank you!

These are some considerations: 1. Photo did not show out. 2. Please note that if the storm drain(s) are not covered; it also depends on the facing direction of the home. As this makes a difference if water should flow from right to left or left to right if it is "passing" thru the frontage.

Dear Judy, Based on Feng Shui, one has to try and protect `entrances': 1. Entrances such as the main entrance door and windows. 2. In your situation, determine whether, the broken tree stump is now a `sha qi': 2.1 Stand at the main entrance or the window(s) especially if the tree stump is tangent or `cut's across or slice thru the main entrance or a window. 2.2 If, the above is true; then, it is best to try and take immediate action as soon as possible, such as `cutting' down the rest of the tree and remove the roots. 2.3 If the tree stump does not cut thru the window or main entrance, then, you can take your time to uproot or remove the tree especially if it no longer co…

Would need your advice.. Thank you.. Generally, as long as these two worst setup is avoided, should be ok:- 1. The stove does not face the toilet bowl directly. 2. The stove is not located just behind a wall sharing the toilet bowl. The rest depends on other factors. Given that there is at least a walkway and wall, the stove would not face the toi…

Dear Oliv, Traditionally or in the past, there were no such thing as either the electric oven or the refrigerator. (Although there is the clay kiln -- which for the Chinese is often used to make pottery). Otherwise, unlike in the middle east, the Chinese do not often bake bread or pita etc... (As the main Chinese stable food is rice). The most important consideration therefore has to do with the position of the stove. Please note that in my opinion, the micro-wave oven should be considered as belonging to the metal element. This is because, unlike conventional ovens that use heat, the micro-wave ovens excite molecules "inwards" using the wave-length e.g in the 800 mega…

These are some considerations: 1. Stove sharing wall with staircase 1.1 In my opinion; this has more to do with common sense then Feng Shui. 1.2 It has more to do with the concern that perhaps more fires start in the kitchen then elsewhere. More so, at the location of the stove. For example, forgot to turn off the stove or cooking half-way and forgot all about it... 1.3 And since the staircase / stairway is primarily the main means of EXIT from a fire from the upper floors; It can be blocked and worse still; heat transfers to the walls / falls near or at the stairs. Not forgetting smoke rising from the stairs "air-well. 2. Thus for the above reasons; it is best not to loc…
