  1. Dear Major Sono, 1. Yes, in Feng Shui, one has also to rank the importance of the various concepts and theories. 2. In general, without looking into detail, the layout plan viz-a-viz things like the location of the main entrance, toilet locations, it would be good to have the President's office located at a `solid' location protected behind by e.g. walls ... 3. Thus you are not wrong to say that an office or room should be diagional to the main door. In addition, the placement of the table in relation to shapes and form is best. 4. Only after the above is `satisified' then you see if you have the luxury of facing a good location i.e. `nice to have'. But not compulsory. Wa…

Dear Kuah Huang, You can check out this url:- http://my.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/imagefolio.cgi?direct=Feng_Shui_Cures/6_coins In Feng Shui cures, the best remedy is to use 6 ancient Chinese coins with square holes in the center. The 6 coins are tied with a red string. It is usually hung on top of the wall or on the curtain as shown in the picture. For the picture, Singapore $1 coins can be used and placed side-by-side in a 3x2 row on a red packet. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  6. Dear Rasika, Under the Compass School of Feng Shui, 1. Eight House Theory: Under this theory, it is good for a breadwinner to have a good orientation of the main door (suited) to him/her. For a building, the best choice is to have it sited in a good site and enjoy firstly good shapes and form. This will be advantages to everyone occupying the building. 2. Flying Star Theory. The direction of the main entrance door will determine the `birth chart' of the house i.e. the birth chart of the house/building is determined based on its main door direction. 3. Thus, if one uses the ordinary compass to take a reading, it should be taken from the centrepoint of the house/building. A…

  7. Dear Rasika, 1. It is best to follow the `method' provided (totally) from a source and not mix e.g. what one reads from a book and `mix' the methods used in other book or website. 2. For example, in this website, the method used is to follow step-by-step instructions under: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm or use the free computerised Eight House report. In this website, you get a graphical diagram showing all the eight kua directions and each person's intangible force at e.g. North, South, East, West, NE, NW, SE, SW. Based on this website, you should find the centrepoint of the house and use an ordinary compass. Instructions are at http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilco…

  8. Started by Susan,

Dear Susan, In Chinese culture, many traditional buildings have e.g. lions guarding the main entrance or other `fierce' creatures placed e.g. on a building. Thus, in my opinion, the "Gargoyles" that you had mentioned, served a similar purpose in some `western' buildings. For the Chinese, it is quite common to find a pair of dragons or a dragon "guarding" each side of the roof. However, this is usually found on temple roofs only. Most homes do not use such figurines. In Feng Shui, if it is a `public' building e.g. Chinese Chamber of Commerce Building or other public buildings that has a traditional touch, would usually place two lions on each side of the main entrance. War…

Dear Elena, In the living room, it is ideal to activate water star than mountain star. Water star, as the name suggests implies clear space and thus, ideally, when one stands around the living room one should have a clear view of all areas of the room. Water star (clear space) is the opposite of mountain star. In addition, some people who are not aware, even may try to activate a mountain star at their front door! Here, it is like placing an `obstruction' at the front entrance. Usually, some portions of the living room has either windows or glass panels and large open area (which suits water star). One can still activate mountain star e.g. a painting in the living room e…

Some of us are familiar with the term "K.I.S.S." applied in other areas. K.I.S.S. refers to " Keep it Simple Stupid ". It is worth remembering that the essence of the above sentence can equally be applied effectively to Feng Shui. After all, it is commonsense and many Feng Shui concepts, theories and ideas are borne out of commonsense. Say "K.I.S.S." the next time:) Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. I sent you all my " KISSes ":))

Dear Melanie, In my opinion, there is really not much one can do in such a situation. Usually, (but may not be feasible) in your case is the use of false ceiling or a poster bed with cloth covers over the top of the bed. Since this option may not be available, hanging a crystal, may make one `feel good' but thats all it can do. In traditional FS, besides this situation, one uses e.g. the Flying Star to analyse and if there are any imbalances, neutralise it to lessen any effects in the sector. 13. Started by lydia griffith,

If my bedroom door is north facing into the bedroom and the bed head is facing east what can I do to help my husband sleep ! He has chronic sleep problems. His birthstar is 6Wood (born 1958)and mine is 8 Metal(born 1966). Our room is dark and full of dark furniture - at the foot of the bed is a large dresser(West), a window (south) is directly opposite the door, and another window is at the NE corner. We have a house fan that pulls all the cool night air in but I'm wondering if it's activating too much chi through the bedroom for sleeping. Any thoughts, advice or remedy possibilities. Thanks - I'm so glad I found you ! Lydia

Dear Betsie, Do check out this page: http://www.geomancy.net/polls/ And check out this poll: Are you comfortable sleeping facing a TV set (mirror)? A short simple 3 questions survey. I indicated that there is no right or wrong answers to this. Some of us feel perfectly normal with a mirror in the bedroom (e.g. facing the bed) while others may feel uncomfortable. Do check the feedback from other uses on this. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  17. Dear Darlene, It is difficult for me to recommend you on a print or photo as Feng Shui dwells more deeper than just a print or photo. The holistic approach to Feng Shui involves, a serious look at the Shapes and Forms both of the environment, the site and the home and the interior. Prints, photos are secondary and if this question was asked other than from a Traditional Feng Shui site, you can get remarkable `results'. Perhaps been asked to buy a special print that the author and some other sites would earn a commission out of. Even in Traditional Feng Shui, more need to be known. In my opinion, buy what you like or enjoy. Buy not because, one is `told' that it can bring …

Dear Colleen, Since it is a decorative piece, it can be placed in the living room. A belief is that it can face outwards e.g. looking out of the living room. 19. Dear Pema, In my opinion, it is best to monitor the situation first since it is newly painted. The only best option is to make sure that the interior of the home has sufficent natural lighting (if possible) to create a more Yang environment. Other options include analysing the front entrance door using Flying Star analysis to confirm your `findings'. In situations where there is a `bad wood' or star #3 at the front door: combined with the brown colour representing wood, it may not be good as the brown color would further `enhance' the bad wood #3. This may not be `true' under your circumstances, you may need to take note of it. Warmest Regards, Cecil ----- Original Messag…

Dear Anon, You can view this actual picture of a building in Singapore that is named Fu Lu Shou. It has the three deities or figurines: http://my.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/imagefolio.cgi?direct=Buildings/Commercial_Buildings/Fu_Lu_Shou If you see the pictures carefully, Fu Lu Shou is `displayed' on the external wall from left to right i.e. Shou or Longetivity is on the far left. (This is where you stand in front of the building.. looking at the building). In the same instance, the figurines should be displayed from left to right. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sean, Under the Eight House Theory, it is good to have a `suitable' front entrance facing one's good side. However, since your home is `mobile' it would suggest that it is quite small. In a small and mobile home, frankly it is quite difficult to apply certain Feng Shui principles. Perhaps, you can let us know what is the size of your mobile home i.e. is it around the size. If the centrepoint of the house is close to all directions, it is best not to `apply' Feng Shui but rather, look at the house interms of the environment i.e. Shapes and Form. One way of looking at the mobile home in relation to the site/land. Warmest Regards, Cecil ----- Original Message ----- From…

Dear Diane, It would be `nice' if you have a sketch of the front door area to better appreciate the situation. Usually, it may not be all that bad as the front door is `protected' from poison arrows. This is the plus point. However, this is usually considered in relation to the entire house layout such as the entry and exit points of `Qi' e.g. from windows, main entrance to the back area and also to look at the `frontage' of the house. Based on `Feng Shui' by intuition, if all along there is `peace' and harmony in the home for the 140 year old house, the adage is "if it is not broken, don't fix it". But if there is a `history' of problems or a common problems for the hous…

Dear Susan, It is quite common for the husband and wife to have "opposite" houses or kua under the Eight House Theory. Under the Eight House Theory, do look out for:- 1. How suitable the house is to the breadwinner i.e. one's kua or intangible force at the main entrance. 2. The Eight House relates to how much time we spent at a sector of the house. Thus it would be useful to know what is the intangible force for the spouse and husband in the bedroom. Where possible, let the person who beneifits most sleep closer to the intangible force. While the person who does not have a good influence sleep further away from that sector. (A good bonus is if one sleeps e.g. with the hea…
