Dear Anon, I like your `new cure':) *Joke* So far, I believe no one has fully tested or tested using a mini tiger. Frankly, I have never `experimented' with a mini tiger, so cannot say for sure if it will work. Honestly, I am not sure. Do exercise caution: A tiger is a Yin animal as opposed to the Dragon (particularly the five claw dragon) which is considered the most Yang of all animals. This may upset your use of mini tigers. Majority of the time, the cure is to use Yang elements instead of adding or "accidently" increase the Yin elements. It is best not to reinvent the wheel or this round use what you can find. The added problem is if either the main door or direct opp…

Dear Angela, 1. Frankly, at a macro level, there should not be an issue on the design of an air regulator `based' on Feng Shui principles. 2. More importantly, it is the product and the shape is designed on the practical aspects of both incorporating it and how easily and cost effectively it can be produced / moulded. 3. For example, a split airconditionering looks almost the same for all models. Rectangular in shape, with removal filters. Air is circulated through the vents at the lower panels. 4. The only Feng Shui consideration is to avoid, where possible posion arrows e.g. sharp cornered objects. Where possible, edges should be rounded. Point no. 4 is the most importa…

Dear Maria, 1. The Eight House Theory is but only one of the Feng Shui theories. It is meant to find how suitable one is to the house and where possible, sleep in one of a individual's good sectors. Beside this, it is good to face a good direction e.g. especially for study and work. 2. It is `not ideal' to have the above, if the house does not conform to proper Shapes and Form. For more on Shapes and Form, there are either many books around to understand the concepts or you can go thru the materials under My Resources (Resources & Articles) on this site. 3. Use the Flying Star analysis to chart out the birth chart of the house. Here, this analysis is to check for any …

Dear Carrie, Accounting, book-keeping, banking and petty cash is related to the Metal element. In the past, this has more to do with the coins and as coins or `gold' are metal, such occupations are broadly classified under the metal element. There is a module on www.geomancy-online.com on occupation. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Cecil, We moved into our new house last April. Two month after, the house across the street was completed with a two-door garage which is on the left side of the that house and has a point roof directly pointed to our front door. I just read a Feng Shui book and learned that roof is so called "Poisoned Arrow". Please help us to know what we should do. Many thanks, Jim

Dear Cecil So glad M Luther asked this question - I've been wondering how macro or micro one should go in analysing the elements in a career. Do you look at e.g. the type of industry the company is in, i.e. manufacturing = water? Within that company, there is likely to be many departments, so you could end up in H.R. (earth), marketing (fire) etc. etc. The manufacturing company may very well produce a product molded of hard polycarbonate plastic (metal). When you want to find the correct career element to prosper or enhance your own element, do you need to look at all the above factors? Kind regards Toni

Accountancy is of the metal element. I personally would consider cartooning to be a form of Art and hence of the water element. Glyn

Dear Ellen, 1. Personally, many years back when I first started on Feng Shui, I was equally concerned about how well the carpet and the flooring `matches' the breadwinner's Ba Zhi or element and its strength. 2. Here, I would try to relate the flooring + breadwinner's Ba Zhi in relation to the Five elements concept. 3. If you were to asked me today, how I feel about it, I would say that, my thinking has been `altered'. 4. Not so much because, I have changed my mind but rather, instead of looking at flooring under the Five Elements concept, look at it more on the Yin and Yang perspective. 5. Unde the Five elements concept, I would `crack' my brains trying to see if there …

Dear Anon, Thanks for bring up this interesting question. I was wondering whether anyone would `spot' this and bring it up. As far, as I am aware, the most important considerations is to choose the date for the piling or symbolic start of the work. So far, I have yet to come across a single case of problems relating to offending the Grand Duke. Some may question the validity of the Grand Duke. But it is better to be on the cautious side. If one wants to ask me for the rationale why I believe that there is no problem for a new house is, if one believes in the Grand Duke Theory, the main thing that the Grand Duke has not resided in the home as yet i.e. he has not been `invi…

Dear Toni, Presently, it is my belief that the two elements that one should be concerned are: 1. Water Water signifies "difficulty" in the I-Ching. Usually water at the centre of the house would pose a problem. 2. Fire (real fire) as in a fire place is the second thing to take note of. The second part is less of a concern than water but more study should be done on this area. Other than that, having a linen cupboard is the lesser of the two `evils'. I believe that this is of less concern. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master, Since you talk about the toilet at the center of the house, my house, the first floor toilet is just located at the center of the house. How can cure it? Any suggestion? Thanks.

Dear Anon, Frankly, in my opinion, this has more to do with `safety' than Feng Shui. Usually, one would not expect a broad staircase unless it is a building or a large house where three persons or more can walk side-by-side going up or down the stairs. Imagine if the staircase is sufficient for one or one and a-half person's body width to walk thru. If the plant has extended leaves, I really cannot imagine that one will not brush against the leaves. Looking at it from a light hearted moment, imagine placing catus plants and having a pet e.g. dog or cat or the wind blowing and toppling the catus plant. What happens if a loved one accidently steps on the catcus? And get h…

Dear Ang Chye, The easiest method is to use the Pillars of Comparison (for members) to find the binding elements of both you and your wife. Please take note the element and strength of the above report is used in conjunction with the analysis under Pillars of Destiny version 7. As the Pillars of Destiny 8 is based on two more `Pillars'. While most of the time may be the same, but may slightly vary in some occasions. For those using Pillars of Destiny 8, later, we will have a module for this version. But again, the Pillars of Comparison for version 7 is already accurate. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Sandi, Generally, there are three ways of looking at the issue: 1. The Flying Star Theory a. Location of Water star (in general) Under this situation, the water fountain should be placed in locations such as the living room (where it is generally) low lying area. Similarly, the clear space in front of the frontage of the house are good locations. b. Using the mathematical model of the Flying Star to check for balance or imbalances. Usually, the imbalances are related to the sickness (2 star) and misfortune (5) star and the cure is related to avoiding earth or the use of big metal to neutralise it. Here, usually, water do not `create' that much problem unless it is ov…

Dear Anon, The semi-circular doormat should not be utilized in all areas of a residence. The most suitable place for the semi-circular doormat is at the entrance of a bedroom, for instance, positioned in front of the staircase. Apart from this, it is recommended to place it outside the house, even though it serves as a mild form of Feng Shui defensive tool. For instance, when ascending the staircase, the bedroom door is directly visible. In this scenario, the semi-circular doormat could be appropriately placed here to counteract the sha qi emanating from the staircase. Thus far, this is the only location or circumstance that I can identify as acceptable for…

I hope you find this article useful:- Clich here for the link It will show, a sample of the type of `older' houses where there is a `head' or what looks like a `head' of the house. Dear Anon, Usually, when placing windchimes the most important question asked is: 1. I am placing a windchime simply for the `love' (enjoyment) of it or 2. I am placing one or more windchimes because I read that it is good to have windchimes. If it is Para 1, usually a single windchime should not be a problem and if one usually go with our feelings, and place it at a location, one is comfortable with then there is not much issue here. (Unless, it happens to be one of the `bad' sectors where metal should not be used. For example, under Feng Shui, one should do a Flying Star analysis especially one is placing a metallic wind chime at the NW and West sector (which are Metal …

Dear Cecil, Thanks for your reply. Would like to clarify some things: * The trees planted have about 8-10 ft. distance between them. Also, I planted them in the first place because there was way too much sunlight coming in and the rooms facing that side used to get very hot. These trees also do not have dense foliage. Is it still a problem area? Before planting them, do not think I slept any better. Then all that desolate muddy space used to bother me. * The plants inside the halls are small plants - money plants, spiders - in small containers. The bigger plants are outside the hall windows on the ledge. * About the water bodies, if you mean bathrooms, etc., I have tried …

Dear Jenny, Actually, when we look at Feng Shui you will find that we never put false hope on say finding the wealth corner or simply enhancing wealth only. Simply because it is not possible or easy to locate these factors simply by using any one theory. It is more often you will find us looking for overall solution in terms of the various problems you encounter all together. We always emphasize the importance of overall balance in every single area of your life. This means that if there is a problem in the Feng Shui relating to Shapes and Forms, we find a cure for that. And when there is a problem in the Feng Shui of the House (Flying Star), we recommend a solution for t…

Dear Anon. I hope I got the correct reference for the term "six killing" as there are a few different "six killing" used in Eight House and Flying Star. I believe you are referring to six killing as Liu (6) Sha / Sar (Kill) which is one of the directions in the Eight House called spook. Generally, since it a desk direction, if you can shift it to your beneficial direction, you should. If not, at least strengthen yourself with your favourable element. For example if you are weak wood, make use of water (Blue colour etc). Hope that helps. If you think I am referring to the wrong 6 killing please specify the correct term and where it is found or used in. Warmest Regards Robe…

Dear Anon, Light i.e. flame is considered the fire element. Here, another more exact interpretation is that fire (flame) rises. Although lighting generate heat, it is not a `flame' where a flame can be extinguished by water. It is perfectly acceptable to have light shining to a pool of water. This is the same as natural light filtering into the fish tank. Therefore, there should not be an issue over this. When when flame touches water, then it matters. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Lets look at it closely: 1. " North East and SW are Earth element locations." 2. To determine or check if a location is imbalanced, one has to use the Flying Star analsys instead of simply using the `cure' of "salt water". As you have correctly mentioned, salt water (salt) need not necessarily be the earth element. Perhaps, the author had visualised `grains' of salt as near equivalent to `grains of sand' representing earth element. I feel that one should not place salt water at NE and SW without any reason. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sunny, It is highly unusual to find a toilet under the staircase. The staircase, must be very high. It is still acceptable to have the toilet under the staircase, if it does not have facility for bathing etc... where one can spent sometime there. If the toilet only has e.g. a toilet bowl, a basin, it is ok. Better still if one side of the toilet is attached to an external wall. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sunny, Yes, the staircase which is directly facing the main door is considered Sha Qi and is `bad' because, it is said to create a `disturbance' of the flow of Qi from the main entrance to the interior of the home. The most effective method is to use a screen between the door and the staircase. Warmest Regards, Cecil
