General Help

Seek General Advice from Master Cecil Lee

  1. Started by Chanalina,

Hi Master Lee My house has three doors in a straight line. The first door is the main door and is the biggest door. The 2nd door is the middle door and opening to the open concept kitchen, dinning and living room. The 3rd door is the sliding door and opening to our big backyard. I attached our floor plan below. We have an option to convert the 3rd sliding door to sliding window. Would this do any better in term of energy flowing? Please help. Warmest regards, Channa

Hi Master Cecil, I need another help with the current house plan. I kind of like the house, but noticed that bedroom 1 door is facing the hallway. What is your view on this plan? Or If I may ask, in your view what is the remedy I can do to the plan. I am still in my house hunting search and yet to find the right one. Thank you.

  3. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Am in a dilemma. Is it strongly discouraged for the couple who is marrying at a later time of the year to attend the first couple's wedding so as to avoid bad luck? If a wedding has to be take place within 6-months to 1 year, then it is best that both couples do not attend each other wedding. This is to avoid either couples from any inauspicious influence. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Lee GEOMANCY.NET - Center for Applied Feng Shui Research

  4. Frankly, in my opinion, the "enclosed" court yard even in Singapore is common place. One of the oldest is People's Park Complex which even has three air-wells. (The high-rise dwellings built around the late 1970's is just directly above the words "People's Park FC" (FC= Food Centre):- There are som many other examples. And I simply took a random sample...

  6. Dear Simon, The following are points to consider on the display of ornamental Japanese swords:- 1. Like any other swords, it should not face the main entrance door. 2. It should be displayed with the protective sword casing even if the sword is blunt. 3. Ideally, it should be displayed in a display cabinet. 4. The best location to display the ornamental sword is in a `separate' room. For example, in a private office, a `person' room . 5. Avoid displaying it in the living room, dining room, family room. As mentioned above, it should be in a " private " room. If it is displayed under para 5 above, there may be a possibility of relationship problems. Finally, in my opinion…

Dear Chris, There are two considerations under "Feng Shui" i.e. 1. Symbolism under Shapes and Forms FS 2. Commonsense approach to Feng Shui 1. Under Symbolism in Feng Shui, it is considered a disadvantage to have a knife or sword hanging or placed or displayed in the living room. As this is symbolic of quarrels or disharmony. 2. Under Commonsense approach Just like guns with live bullets lying in the home. This can be assessed wrongly by young children or a parent or family member who is quick tempered or used by intruders into a home. Generally, as you had mentioned, it is best to keep or display the sword in a specific room e.g. your study room. And if possible, …

  10. Is the concept of Feng Shui applicable to rental properties? Dear Cecil, This house that I'm very interested in buying as a rental property, is in a great location and the price is right. What has been keeping me from making an offer is that this house faces North which is my "Disaster" direction. I'm also a Strong Water. I would never buy a North facing house to live in, but will I get BAD luck if I buy it to rent out to other people? Thank you! Hoa

In my opinion, no one has ever done so. Do take extra care when using an ordinary compass. As often, there are lots of "hidden" re-bar that can cause the compass readings on such a compass to deviate by alot. Often, try to stand on a grass area (but then again) and take several readings (if possible). Sometimes even grass patches have metal embedded below it thus again may cause the readings to deviate.

  12. Hello Cecil, I live in a 2 storey house. My garage is part of the construction of the house. Do I count the garage in my flying star/xuan kong map for the main floor? My bedroom is above the garage on the second floor. Which floor do I use to do the flying star grid? Do I use both and put cures on both floors? Thank you.

  17. Dear Dr. Lee, Soon I will be signing a lease on a new apartment. I am new to feng shui, so I just found out that living in a triangle shaped building is not recommended. The floor plan of my apartment is a rectangle though (it is marked in black in the picture). Do you have any advice or tips to solve this problem? Thank you so much in advance!

Hi Master Cecil, Good day. I have been clueless for the past few days as i just realise that the top of main floor is a bathroom (as per pict attached). Been doing alot and alot of research and i have been getting mixed answer. Some say this is really disastrous, some say this will not matter, some say it will only affect newly wed couple as they might have difficulty to conceive (my wife and I been married for 7 years for not really newly wed). Can you please advice me what can I do because i am really clueless on how it will affect me and if it really will, how can I find a remedy for this matter? Thanks. Regards Chong

  20. Dear Cecil, I'm bidding for a house that was originally built in 1940. However, this house was just recently renovated from top to bottom. The original house was completely gutted inside. All the walls, windows, doors, kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are completely newly built. In fact the inside looks like a new, modern house. Does this renovation constitutes a change to period 8? Thank you as always, Hoa

Hello Feng Shui masters, I'm looking at purchasing a property and while the apartment itself is not trapezoidal shaped, the detached garage (on the basement level) has a storage cage which is very obviously an irregular shape. Is this considered trapezoidal shaped land (since I will own the storage cage)? Kind regards and many thanks.

  23. Nowadays, there are lots of new condos where the site is like a "fort". Here, many of these new developments have blocks/stacks that seems to "wrap" or "trap" the water feature in the middle of the site. And does not allow maximum air movement within the water positions and the external. There are some gaps, but this makes it harder for the evaporated "dirty" water to flow out of the site. And so after, if one's unit is low e.g. ground level or 2nd storey; and if none of the neighbour opens their windows; a high concentration of evaporated dirty pool water may filter into the home. What I like about the site plan of Ripple Bay is that although the blocks are arran…
