1. In some instances, a wind chime is often recommended as a form of "moving" metal especially a 6-hollow rod windchime. (Especially if a sector has bad Flying star numbers with #5 or a combination of #5 with and/or #2 and/or #9.) 2. Sometimes, non-moving metal such as a row of six coins tied with red string is hung above the main door. It all depends on the flying star number(s) particularly the Mountain Star # and Water Star # at the main entrance. In some instances a set of six coins is enough. But in certain cases, alternative "moving metal" may be used. E.g. a common wall clock could be considered. Or those grandfather clock with brass fittings. (Of course some of t…

Dear Anon, 1. For wooden floors, it is not so much of what is considered `best' in Feng Shui but more of "commonsense" or rather experience of using wooden floors. 2. For example, it is felt that it would be better for wooden or parquet floor tiles be used in a bedroom. This is because of the belief that: 2.1 when one wakes up, and gets out of the bed, it would be better to step on wooden floors. This is because wooden floors have less conductivity i.e. one do not feel cold or suddenly feel cold as the feet touches the floor. 2.2 Many people, work in their bedrooms i.e. study table. Therefore, it would be better for their feet to be in contact with a neutral floor i.e. wo…

Dear Anon, Usually, a single gift will not impact on a person. But rather, it is the the symbolic gesture of giving a gift is more important. It can be any gift. For a crystal, it is suppose to give beneficial Qi because of the way it plays with light. Some Feng Shui practitioners advise the use of other subsitutes e.g. a mirror, such as at the staircase landing to deflect Qi upwards. Some Feng Shui practitioners also advise one to place a mirror on the wall at an auspicious sector e.g. after using the Flying Star, there is a very auspicious sector along a wall, here, a mirror or even placement of a mirror to bounce back the good luck. Here, some FS practitioners may advi…

Dear Lewis, Please note the following:- 1. If you are standing at your main entrance door (looking outside the house), the fig tree should not be seen directly i.e. slicing any part of the main entrance door. It should be at either side of the house i.e. left or right side. 2. If the tree can be seen directly i.e. slicing any part of the house, it must not have a broken stump. The above two `conditions' is to avoid trees becoming a poison arrow to the main entrance of the house. In Feng Shui, avoid planting too many trees on the North-East (devil's gate) or West (a yin location) or South West (devil's backdoor). Too many trees or plants especially if they are not properly…

Dear Anon, In my opinion, there is really no significance of hanging the mobiles as I believe, these are art pieces commissioned by the airline to decorate their building. Unfortunately, because these mobiles are shaped like `poision' arrows, it has hurt it's neighbour especially those the mobiles had `pointed' at. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, There are two types of `gourd':- 1. The first is called simply as "Gourd". The equivalent here is called the water-melon in the west. In the Chinese province of Canton or in Hong Kong, with predominantly Cantonese speaking dialect group. Never give the water-melon as a present as the word "Xi Gua" is = water melon. The word "Xi" signifies death. 2. In this message, you are most likely to refer to the bottle-gourd or in Mandarin called "hu-lu". The bottle-gourd is linked to a Toaist's object. In Chinese symbolism, it is a replica of heaven and earth joining (due to the two spherical shape.) On the Chinese Lunar calendar: 5th day of the 5th month; which is the f…

Dear Anon, The knot symbolises eternal life. It is not uncommon for many Chinese practitioners in my country or in nearby countries to mix `religious' significance of symbols or objects with Feng Shui. As I mentioned, if one `hires' a Feng Shui practitioner deeply rooted in religion, invariably, their religious influence may be `mixed' with Feng Shui. The two most common ones are: 1. Advising their clients to place the Ba Gua mirror on all the houses (to ward off evil). 2. Use of such symbols as the `Eight Lucky' Symbolic Buddha symbols in Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. For those who do not know the history of Buddhism, just to let u know that Buddhism / Buddha b…

Hello Chris, Thanks for your advise...I've been told about this bad star 5, but method of cure seems to be different. I was told that since the star 5 belongs to earth, the cure will be more effective if "metal" elements is placed on the floor at your main door. What happen if the star 5 move away from the South position, is it necessary to remove the coins? In fact, my star 5 is at SE where my main door is located, and SE suppose to be wood. Wouldn't metal destroy wood? Any comments? Thanks. Regards.

Dear Anon, Red is always associated with auspiciousness for the Chinese. In weddings, a red invitation card is sent out. Some newly wedded couples have a Chinese red double happiness symbol placed in their room. And even their pillow cases are embroided with the double happiness symbol. Traditional bride wear a red dress with a veil covering their eyes. Here, one can understand why red lanterns are used in pairs to decorate or line up a walkway. Red in this case, also symbolises auspiciousness. Contrast this to white or off-site coloured lanterns used during a funeral. Therefore, colours have a significance. Warmest Regards, Cecil

[Note: Reference: Photo Tours of Interest - The Sterling Housing Development] Dear Anon, In the last picture of the Housing development, it shows the pool side. Above the units fronting the pool there is a `small hole' as shown with the red arrow in the picture. The project is on a gradient hill and the peak is the top of the triangle. The `hole' is to allow the Dragon Qi on the top of the hill (not to be entrapped) but to flow thru the hole `allowing' it to move freely downwards. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, Most of us understand that many in the West associate the horse shoe with good luck. In traditional Feng Shui, this relates more towards the `profile' of a land. For example, if you have the opportunity to see a Chinese burial site, you will see that each traditional gravesite has a " horse shoe " i.e. if you have a topview of a gravesite, it looks like a horse shoe. Why is this so? If you can visualise, the horse shoe looks like a protective backing or solid backing protecting the entire gravesite. Similiarly, under the Shapes and Form School - the Four symbolic animals, you will notice that many Chinese cities were in the past built on this premise. For example Can…

Dear Anon. I hope I got the correct reference for the term "six killing" as there are a few different "six killing" used in Eight House and Flying Star. I believe you are referring to six killing as Liu (6) Sha / Sar (Kill) which is one of the directions in the Eight House called spook. Generally, since it a desk direction, if you can shift it to your beneficial direction, you should. If not, at least strengthen yourself with your favourable element. For example if you are weak wood, make use of water (Blue colour etc). Hope that helps. If you think I am referring to the wrong 6 killing please specify the correct term and where it is found or used in. Warmest Regards Robe…

Dear Hoa, As mentioned, in the earlier message, it is best to provide the # numbers. For a fire cure, often, check to see if a sector has good natural lighting. This is the best solution. If not, check to see if the location does not have too much "dark" coloured items and the walls are kept bright. Or alternatively, is the lighting sufficient at this sector. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Vincent, I would agree with you that central palace could most likely still be a Period 7 especially if there is no major renovations done on or after CNY 2004. For example, if you had not done any major renovations or if the existing owners did not do any major renovations; or if there are no major renovations done on the external also, then normally it is best to consider your home as a Period 7. However, after taking over the apartment this year, if you had done a major renovation, then your apartment can be considered as a Period 8. In my opinion, if you did not do a major renovation, it should be considered as a Period 7 analysis. Early this year, there we…

Dear Anon, Appreciate if you can elaborate more of why you would want to find out about the element of red coral. Usually, these are considered part and parcel of the contents of a fish tank and should not be an "issue" unless, they have an unusual undefined shape. (Or if they occupy more than 33.3 percent of the floor area (or the volume of the location). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cecil, With regards to the Center sector of my business, the 20 year vs. yearly star analysis suggests to "use metal to exhaust earth" and the mountain vs. water star analysis recommends to "use WATER to exhaust metal". 1) I know what the metal cure is, but what is the solution for a water cure? 2) Do the above solutions cancel each other out to make the sector neutral? Thank you so much, Hoa

Dear Hoa, Appreciate if you can include the actual MS # , WS # and base # with the Year #. This would help further understand the precise situation. Since there is often a difference in the mix of #5 or #2 vs other stars and whether in this equation is there a #9. Since #9 with #5 is a potent combination where #9 fire further fuels #5 bad earth etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mr Lee May I ask what happens if the weaken metal (in my case double 7) is in the bedroom (base 3, yr 1), which I cannot possible put a water feature there. What should I do? Can I change bedsheet to blue? Fire can exhaust metal correct? So should I paint the wall pink or put a red rug on the floor? Awaiting your valued advice. Thank You Em free-advice Listmanager wrote: From: "Robert Lee" Dear Hoa Luong, The best water element feature is a water feature like fountain. This is often the best and direct representation for water element. 5 (Earth) and 7 (Metal) is often best dealt with with a water feature which will convert all the negative energy to sometime bene…

Dear Cheui May, 1. In the field of Feng Shui, Chinese divinty, Chinese astrology, Chinese medicine and all other areas, it calls for balance. Moderation is the `key'. Thus, if you are a weak water person, adding `metal' is acceptable (but moderately). 2. Under the `33.3 percent ruleset', usually, if the area or volume is less than this, the object is usually of minimal effect on a person. For example, as you had mentioned, a small ring with a tiny jade or diamond, even it is a `3 carats' diamond ring is only a small object. While, a `T'shirt, covers a significant part of the body. Thus it is more effective e.g. to wear e.g. a white T-shirt which, in my opinion, covers mor…

Hi, Please read below:- For example of the material of the wind chime is metal, and there is 5 rods, this means that the wind chime is a earth-metal wind chime. Generally, 2,3,4,5 are associated very closely with the inauspicious stars, and if you hang this in location which has a star 2,3,4,5 you are likely to trigger the influence of these stars thus causing bad influences. It is not so much that solid wind chime or even that say star 5 wind chime is not useful. You have to be careful as to where you are putting it. If place correctly, the element influence which you are looking for will remove the inauspicious influence based on the element composition of the …

Please advice which Life Aspiration, or Bagua direction I need to change/improve to help my family move to another state. What would you recommend? Do I need to balance my career sector, family, or mentors? I am stuck. I want my family to move to Florida - it is good for health, for relationship, for future, but probably not as good job wise, but still I need a good job there - so which part do I increase or balance? I am afraid that if I will improve career too much, I will get a better job offer here and we will stay in Illinois. Also, when I accent one area, let us say wealth, do I have to improve relationship area as well, or could it happen that it will be all work a…
