I also have stairs facing the front door and have tried a remedy. I put an end table at the bottom of the stairs,against the wall.It has a colorful arrangement of silk flowers on it. Opposite this wall is a face level mirror which holds a smaller arrangement of flowers. I think it is working because people who come in have not even noticed the stairs when I've mentioned them shortly thereafter. Does this sound sufficient, Cecil? Thx.

Dear Kristinna, In general, if you are using the Eight House Theory or East/West Group theory; it is a very general theory to find out your general best direction(s) or a good intangible location. Other than that, if the location is considered inasupicious under the Eight House, the only way is to stay further from the line of inauspcious influence. Other than this, you cannot do much if you continue to `occupy' this location. Other more advanced Feng Shui techniques such as the Flying Star are usually used together. Hi, The Traditional understanding is that only when one uses the `entire' formation of the Eight Trigrams based on Fu Xi or The First Heaven sequence Trigram than can it be said to be `activated'. Hi, In my opinion, this may not be exactly true. What I understand is that although we can `classify' certain music as belonging to more Yang or more Yin, we cannot fully apply it to our real life: 1. We need rest and time for work. At a state of rest or relax, I am personally not sure if some of us like to listen to more vibrant (Yang) or relaxing (Yin) music. This depends on the individual. 2. If you are going to activate a mountain star e.g. if there is a mountain star to be activated, you can use a painting e.g. of the famous Mount Fuji of Japan or the Himalayan, Rocky mountain etc.. even if there is snow on top of the mountains. Hi, Your concerns are equally shared by a group of teachers I met recently on an invited talk on Feng Shui. The Polytechnic has a Mass Rapid Transit train tracks running above ground outside the main entrance area a short distance away. What matters here is whether the tracks are either straight or `slicing' inwards towards the School or in your case the home. If it is slicing inwards e.g. like a sickle slicing the building, then this is inauspicious as it is like a `knife' cutting into the `flesh'. Hi, In my country, it is common to find pianos. 1. More often the pianos are the `smaller' versions not the large concert hall ones. For the concert hall ones, as it is `low' it can represent a `water position' and is suitable for a living room. Hi, No, it is not necessary for the kitchen door to face a window. What is more important considerations are: 1. The water position in relation to the stove and other fire elements. 2. The stove must not be `supported' by a window. 3. Positions like the Kitchen in the South, you can have the Stove face a water element to `cool' down the kitchen. As South = Fire element. Contrast this with having a Kitchen at the North. Here, you must try to `keep warm' the stove and not let it `die out' with a water position opposite it. 4. Hi, I can see your reason for concern. This is because although from your description, the park you mentioned most likely does not have water but most likely it is flat. Here there are a few considerations:- 1. You can always create a `solid backing' behind the house by having a fence. Good `fencing' includes materials like brick walls, fence with creepers. Fence with bushes in between or fence with privacy strips e.g. like those in army camps or wooden planked fences for privacy. 2. Hi, Before one uses the " semi-circle " one must use it correctly. The correct way is to use the semi-circle facing outwards of your home or building. Never `turn' the semi-circle inwards acting like a sickle or blade slicing towards the house. This is similar to having `pointed' arrow towards you. Hi, Usually, the most effective method is to use a side partition any where between the main entrance door and the study room. Alternatively, you should close one of the doors when opening the other.
