Dear Darlene, It would be `difficult' for me to reply to the question of a question on a `CORNER' and provide a `fixed' answer to it. This would mean the forum would end out no better than a non-tradtional Feng Shui forum and become more like a FIXED TEMPLATE Feng Shui forum. In my opinion, fixed template Feng Shui is nothing more than a `con' job in trying to provide "advice". It is never wise to pay homage to a `corner' or simply look at corners. *JOKE* It also reminds one of wearing a DUNCE hat and asked to stand at the corner. There are more that real Feng Shui offers to many rather than the above. I have provided many examples and caricatures on the `effects' of corn…

From a Feng Shui perspective; there are quite alot of considerations. But, some means that you must have knowledge of things like: the breadwinner: East or West group? etc... Most of the time, in general; the first consideration is how one feels when first entering the home and/or if one really likes the home; try to bring along the whole family and see how they feel about the home. You wrote: Must the main door be facing North, entrance to the unit must be bright, the distance of opposite block cannot be too near, etc? As I mentioned, above, you may have to do some homework to find out whether you are an East group person : favourable North, South, East or SE. While a We…

Dear Hoa Luong, 1. As a follow-up, this morning, I visited some local shops and purchased no less than 8 Ba Gua mirrors. 2. I got 3 from one shop and another 5 more from another shop. I think, the second shop keeper must have thought that I was "MAD" since no one had purchased or tried purchasing that many Ba Guas on a single occasion in their life! (Including mine) 3. Just for info, when I displayed so many Ba Gua mirrors to take photos at... my camera smart media "got error". For quite sometime. And for fear of being too Yang.. I covered them up immediately. Do not want to create so many negative Qi. Imagine 8 X Ba Gua mirrors is a rather " FIERCE " thing to do. 4. Out …

In general, as a balcony is above the ground and not on landed property, you can easily grow almost any plants that can bloom at the balcony. This is because, it is more important that you enjoy your little garden on the balcony then be constrained by what to plant. So long as the flowers continue to bloom, it is considered auspicious. For example, I have two plants on each side of my house balcony. Since the day I placed them, every day, you can see flowers on both plants. When my house was undergoing re-tiling, the plants we placed some other loation. They almost died. However, since they returned to the same location, they are continously booming. Go and see plants esp…

Dear Daniel, In open living, ideally, (under Feng Shui conditions) there is still some `partitioning'. It may not be a full wall. It can be something like an eating or storage counter separating the cooking area from the living room. In the living room, the act of placing furniture to segregate the living room from other locations is as effective as using walls. Therefore, there is really no issue here. For an `L' shaped room even if it is an open space can effectively be segregated into two whole rectangles. This is a better FS configuration that leaving the house as an `L' shaped. (This is based on Shapes and Form Feng Shui.) Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Max, Usually, there is no issue of a wooden door (stained in any of the wood grain colour i.e. walnut, rosewood, teak etc...) But if the main entrance is under some threat, then it would depend on what type of threat. Since there are so many different types of threat, it is difficult to give you all the answers. But, here, it is best to determine what element the threat comes from. And use a controlling element to control it. (If possible). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. I like to clarify that in my opinion, the main "drawback" is related to the full glass facade on the `facing' side of each apartment. 2. In my opinion, this is `radical' design where, full height glass is used for e.g. the living room, bedrooms and even for the master bedroom. 3. The major `flaw' in my opinion is the lift up glass windows. This is similar in concept like those found at toilets. I would rather prefer the use of sliding windows or better, windows that open (under the normal way). This `flaw' together with the full height glass window, I believe is not ideal for a home (especially since it is near the equator) and it is not practical to turn on…

Dear Robert, In the `life' pillars we have House of Life and House of Conception. Similiarly in Yin Feng Shui there is the opposite of House of Life i.e. House of `Death' and roughly the translated term is House of Reincarnation. The House of Death does not mean when a person die. But rather in a spirtual sense of the dead such as the person's spirit or `ghost'. For the House of Reincarnation, it is the belief that when a person dies, he/she is reincarnated. By the way, these additional Pillars (1 pillar = 1 heavenly stem + 1 earthly branch) e.g. House of Life, Conception etc... these are the so called additional pillars for more advanced readings. The basic readings is…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: dear practitioner, i am renovating my bathroom. what would be the best color paint to use since the bathroom is located southwest on the top floor. i need to enhance my love life. i also need to know which other elements should i add. please provide details. my birthday is oct 17, 1969. thank you. please keep my name and identification very private. Generally, the safe colour to use for all rooms where a full flying star analysis isn't considered is always to use very light (near to off-white or white) colours. This colour will be able to neturalise any inauspicious Wood or Earth star under the flying star. In order to enhance your luck (be i…

Dear Anon, Frankly, Feng Shui is by no means a mircle care to all problems. Your problem if any is what we would classify as a Human Luck factor. Particularly, if you lost your job to due to your attitude. Then probably the best thing you can do is to correct or improve your attitude. I don't think no amount of feng shui can help you here. It is always important to find the root cause to any problem. If you know what is the root cause, then work to correct it. Otherwise, even if you find another job, you might stilllose it the same way you lost the other. You see even if a person's luck isn't good in a period, but if he/she has good overall human luck (ie very hardw…

Dear Pam, Since the Chinese use the lunar calendar to find out the year, CNY this year only begins on 8 Feb 2005. Thus, the year flying star chart should normally start around this time instead of 1.1.2005. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, The Chinese New Year is based on the day when there is a full moon. As the full moon lasts 15 days, Chinese New Year lasts 15 days. Traditionally, the first day of Chinese New Year should be treated as the day, Tai su changes direction. For the Chinese, it does not `really' matter because, usually, renovations are never carried out during the Chinese New Year. It is not because of tradition but rather, one cannot find workers anywhere. The reason is because most of the construction companies and their staff return back to their village or in modern situations, return to their town. So, even if one wants to do renovation work (other than if you D.I.Y), one canno…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I was born in Asia but i moved to somewhere else and the times are different. Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Hello, we have just started house hunting and to our dismayed, landed property prices has gone up like crazy as compared to Nov last year. 1. Further to what I had mentioned, even the country with one of the largest population and the country where all Chinese come from celebrates Chinese New Year from 14 Febto 16 Feb: TheSpring Festival. http://www.worldtravelguide.net/country/58/public_holidays/Far-East-Asia/China.html 2. From the above link, the mother of all Chinese culture also uses purely the Lunar calendar and not Xia (Hsia - seasonal) calendar. 4 February 2010 is no where to be found although it is Xia calendar's Start of Spring. 3. In fact, Taiwan, which has the largest pool of Chinese outside of China does not even consider 4th February anywhere in their calendar as a holiday. Taiwan has the lo…

Hi Anon, Quote: I'd like to find out when is the Qing Ming festival in year 2006. Does Qing Ming always start and end on the same Lunar Calendar dates every year? The start of Qing Ming Festival is always on 4th / 5th / 6th Apr (Western Calendar). Some modern people will start Qing Ming as early as two weeks before, whereas most people will do it within the month of Qing Ming. It can last for as long as 1 month. As such there is no fixed date for the end of the Qing Ming. Start of Qing Ming for 2006 is 5 Apr 2006. Hope that helps. Dear Anon, 1. The worst senario is where the front door meets the balcony or there is a direct path from the main door (exiting) towards a window, or balcony. However, this is easy to solve as most of us are aware, to place a screen or close the side of the balcony glass facing directly the door. 2. For the case of the bedroom door facing the main door, this is less auspicious than Para 1. You can still close the bedroom door when the main door is open. (I can understand the problem of placing a screen here). It is still best to use a screen if the main entrance door is next to a wall. This is an ideal situation for placement of a screen. But if the main entrance opens to…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Based on a couple's birth details, is it possible to tell whether a particular year is a good year for them to purchase a new house, property? The ba zi can only tell you what luck you are supposed to enjoy in any particular time and period. This is often used to check whether it is a good date, good month, good year etc. So you can make use of it as a guide whether this is a good or bad year to own a property etc. However, purchasing a home is only one aspect. Finding a good hosue that fits the family and has good overall feng shui luck is more important. This is because the house luck can adversely influence your ba zi given luck. Thus, fi…

Dear Ben, Yes, if it is a Ba Gua mirrior, it is indeed octagon shape and not round. But, the one that is normally used for your rental home, should be red/green in colour - (usually with a flat mirror). Alternatively, try to get one with the ba gua mirror and the picture with a door god below it. For the time being, you can use a circular mirror. The best time to hang the mirror is:- 1st choice - the 1st day of any lunar month. (Preferably on any months other than the 7th lunar month). The good dates to hang the Ba Gua mirror is:- January 27, 2002 - 12th Lunar Month The 1st of each Lunar Month is also considered a good date to hang it. Alternatively, a more personalised …
