  2. Interestingly, "Chinese Lucky Cats" actually originate from Japan. LOL Dear Anita, The idea is primarily rooted in belief rather than being firmly established in Feng Shui principles. Notably, "Chinese Lucky Cats" actually have their origins in Japan. Generally, sizable figurines are situated on the floor to serve as "guardians" at entrances or alongside staircases. They ought to be oriented outward, directed towards the outside of the home, rather than facing inward. For example, they may be positioned on one side of the house, directed towards a series of sliding glass doors, thereby effectively "guarding" the residence. It is recommended to avo…

  3. Dear Anne, True Feng Shui is not like `Credit Card' Feng Shui. One do not need to `purchase' something in advance in the hope that spending such money would get one riches. If one is not sure of where to place a picture of a waterfall, one should try not to place it. The other method is if one feels comfortable about it and really like the picture and have to `urge' to place it at a location. Ideally, pictures of water falls should not be placed in a bedroom. The more professional method is to use e.g. Flying Star to check if a sector has balance or imbalance. This theory can be used to check if there is or do not have an imbalance. If there is an imbalance and it is cau…

  4. Dear Dana, In my opinion, if it is a small table fountain, then you can safely consider it as a decorative piece. However, avoid placing it at or close to the centre-point of the house. You can place it e.g. at a corner particularly at the frontage of the house. For example, if you are living in a flat/condominium, it should preferably be placed in the living room closer to the balcony. This is similar also to placement for landed properties. Try to avoid placing it at the center areas of the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Hi Cecil, Thank you so much for your FS considerations on water items. I've bought a small water fountain because I just love having one in my living area. The sound of flowing water in the fountain gives me a relaxing feeling and somehow a sense of invigorating energy in the mind. In terms of personal strength, I'm a strong earth person. My wife is a weak water person. I know that earth clashes with water. Does it mean the presence of a water fountain may have some negative affects for a strong earth person like myself and somehow affect my business decision making? I believe that water in FS is an extremely important issue. Therefore I'm reluctant to use it without some…

  6. 1. Please see sample illustration. 2. As both Mr and Mrs are Strong Fire persons; one of their binding elements is METAL. 3. Thus if both are the owners or subsidiary proprietors of a condo unit; then it is better to get a Guan Yin that e.g. has pure white clothing (less the colourful lotus leaf colours) that she sits onto. 3.1 Or the clothing she wears is gold in colour. 3.2 Usually the figurines have "natural tone" colours. 4. The next thing is to walk around and stare at her face. Often, instinctively, if one likes that statue's face; then this is a potential buy. 5. Often the other more common material is a wooden Guan Yin figurine or a Guan Yin that has substa…

Edited by Robert: Please be advised, that usually such placement of like water feature/altar/prayer roomrequire us to do a review of the house flying star etc before we can tell you where it can be placed. Without that, we will not be able to tell you whether or not it is a good to place, as if you place it wrongly, you might have problems instead. So probably my advise here is for you to get someone to assess your home and make the recommendation for you after your home is fully assessed. I am born in 19/11/1955 . I just completed my new house and the main door is facing South East . This is facing a small hill with houses on top that is whyI do have another door &a…

my soon to be husband $ me are moving in to our new (to us) appartment. it's small, old and not very well designed. but i want to make home out of it. help me. what should i check first; and deal with before moving in and what can take place later? its living room big window looks to north; the bedroom is on south; the kitchen shares a wall with the living room. there is another small room that has a window to east; our birth days: 20/12/1972 (mine) 18/12/1970 (his) we're currently students seeking for jobs we had a very very rough year (medical problems; delays of our wedding plans and more...) we want to make our home a place we like to be in and have our family a…

Dear Betty, The most important thing to remember is not to place a wall clock above a door. Preferably, it should be placed at a location of activity e.g. close to the Television set or Hi Fi. (it can be above it). Another thing to note is that a grandfather clock is a better `subsitute' for a windchime. A few days ago, I tried counting my neighour's bungalow house. I counted at least nine different types of windchimes outside the west `wing' of the house (or the back door area). It so happens that this is also the WEST side of the house or the YIN side. Most likely, the lady who stayed there became insane because of the windchime. Personally, I would like to help but the…

Dear Anon, Overall, recently there are quite alot of messages on the placement of `display' objects. Do note that placement of objects is directly related to Chinese beliefs and not Feng Shui. However, as it is relevant to most of us, (beliefs) we have to be clear about it. As a general guide, if it is a `display' piece it should preferably be kept inside a display shelf. This is because usually ox have pointed "horns" and may inavertenly create poison arrows. Keeping the `display' ox in a display shelf effectively contains it especially if it is placed sideways. Most likely, the horns will be pointed towards the support panel of the display cabinet. Warmest Regards, Cec…

Dear Anon, Pigs signify "abundance". Hopefully not abundance of fat on the body making one rounder:) Last week, I wanted to take a picture of two pigs (each pig on either side of a pillar) of a house. Each of the pig figurine on top of the pillar were carrying an umbrella, they were in a comfortable position lying and `posing' for a short. But as I was in a hurry, could not take a shot of it. Anyway, place it at a place you find `suitable' i.e. in the living room. Pigs are `lazy' animals and not guard dogs so they do not need to face a door, the sliding glass windows etc... Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Perhaps, it would be more convenient to do a search e.g. under Yahoo.com and type in Feng Shui emporium ... I believe it is much easier to buy it from the internet especially in your part of the country. In my country, there are plentiful shops by the dozen scattered in my locations. 16. Dear Stephane, From my opinion, the best Feng Shui books are not in English but in Mandarin either written by practising Masters in Taiwan or in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, one needs to know Mandarin in order to read such books. Many of such books are also not translated into English and currently many English educated Feng Shui authors are capitalising on this but many are still no `match' for the `originals' although many English speaking Feng shui authors try to make a good attempt at it. Currently I will not mention the books here but we have found fundamental flaws in the `current batch' of Feng Shui books on theories relating to Pillars of destiny and the Flying star.…

Dear Evelyn, I believe the rationale, here is that the twin goldfish represents the metal element. And metal helps to produce water. In such a situation, it is possible to place the goldfish picture outside the toilet wall - if you want to. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Evelyn, With the little information provided, it is difficult for me to give you proper advise. Usually, if one practises or applies sector Feng Shui; may have to use personal feelings i.e. not because; of `Feng Shui' related reasons but simply because one `fell in love' with an object of decoration e.g. metal windchime and wants to place it. Here, one may have to use personal feelings to see where it can be placed in the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Normally, 6 ancient coins are used to `exhaust' a bad Five Earth element or to destroy the Wood. I can quite understand the Five coloured beads as these usually represent the Five elements. As for a small bell and the Five Chinese coins (minus the tassel - which is considered `insignificant'), I cannot really comment on these other than if one considers the number 5. Here, I believe, it is more a decorative piece to symbolise the number 5 rather than to represent 5 " Metal ". As a general guideline, if one do not know what to do with it, then avoid hanging it. As the saying goes better safe than sorry. Warmest Regards, Ceci Lee

Dear Santosh, In my opinion, and the many audits done locally, the placement of shoe rack is only of secondary importance or really not a major issue for most of us. Although, some FS practitioners may feel that there is lots of `hipe' in wanting less clutter or felt that `bad qi' if one places shoes/sandals or shoe rack at the front main door. In Feng Shui audits mainly by professionals, assessment is usually based on using the Compass School and particuarly the Shapes and Form of the site and the home. Which is considered the `bigger' picture. Already, within these two schools of FS, there are really so much assessment to be made here. For the garbage bin, especially fo…

  22. Dear John, In my opinion, statues are more like decorative pieces and dwell on beliefs rather than Feng Shui. If one looks at beliefs, normally, it is placed firstly as a decoration at a location you personally feel comfortable with. Some Chinese family run (small) shops do tend to display either a figurine of it in their shops or just a picture of it. In my opinion, you can `play safe' by following the `standard' Chinese beliefs: 1. Do not place it in your bed room. As a bedroom is considered a `dirty' place i.e. you take off your clothes to change etc... 2. Do not place it on the same wall as the toilet. 3. Do not place it side by side with other Chinese deities such as…

Dear Anon, My frank advise is that if one is really not sure where to place such objects or have no idea whether it is auspicious to do so, try not to place it. It is better to have a `clean', clear and clutter free environment than placing the unknown. On the `commonsense' approach, (other than Feng Shui), how often must one change the water. For those who stay at areas where there is mosquito, will it breed mosquitoes. Here, it is best not to "feel" that I have something I feel useful, I want to `utilize' it. It may do more harm than good. I guess, if one really wants or yearn to place such a configuration, would have to go with one's feeling. Let me elaborate further …

Dear Carlos, 1. In my opinion, this may not be the correct way to solve your problems. 2. A Ba Gua mirror is often used to either: 2.1 Ward of evil and/or 2.2 Neutralise Sha Qi (poison arrows). (For example, a house located at a `T' junction. 3. Often, it is placed outside the main entrance door or above the window of a house. 4. Otherwise, it is best to check out what is wrong i.e. are there any leaks externally or internally in the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  25. I recently bought a Mansionette or HDB EA flat. My parent, my wife and I got different opinion of putting our altar. My altar will be custom make around 2000-2400mm wide, 2550-2600mm height and 500-600mm depth. We pray to Dua Pek gong with wen Wu Pang guan and my ancestor My parent got opinion from er ye bo to put it at the stair facing main road, east south area. My wife got opinion from her brother in law who got some knowledge of Feng Shui. He advised her to put the altar either at the wall facing balcony (north east) or window facing entrance ( south west) My thinking is to put either near stair doing a new wall facing opposite block wall (south west ) …
