Dear Anita, Thanks for bring up this interesting question. We will first begin by looking at the `history' of Feng Shui in China. In the past, Chinese were mostly into agricuture (farmers ) and live-stock rearing. What this means is that food was obtain from the land. Eaten, and left overs were `re-cycled' e.g. as some of them they rear pigs, these "garbage" were given to the pigs to be eaten. Manure or other `solid' wastes were used to fertilise the land. From the above, you will notice that they (ancient Chinese) do not have what we have now... " garbage " in the form of non-biodegradable products etc..... Overall, Feng Shui is used to assess: in the above case of a hom…

Dear Glyn, Please read below:- Well, 8 is weak earth, crystal is water. If you look at water destroying 8 wealth, it is is good if you are a weak water wanting to enhance your wealth. However, if you look at it that 8 being an auspicious star water actually destroys the good star so it is not that a good cure. Rather an earthly type object would be better in terms of Flying star activation. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Dear Kit Fong, Kit Fong wrote: Thank for your prompt response. Is the ba zhi and the kua no. the same? They are different concept. Kua (eight house) only assess your YEAR of birth (ie 1950). So it's accuracy is limited. However, though it is simple it's suitability analysis is still very useful. The Kua element will not be as accurate as the Ba Zi element. Ba Zi assess upto day and even time of birth (ie. 19Aug 1950 at7am). So this is more accurate for luck andelement determination. Hope that helps. Dear Linh, Yes, you are correct with regards to the toilet next to the main entrance. The two most inauspicious situations are:- 1. Having the toilet next to your home entrance (at either side). This is because the main entrance is like the `mouth' of the house and is considered important as it is considered the first location external Qi comes into the house. 2. Center of the house. Best is to keep the center clear. This is where all intangible forces congregate. A toilet in the center of the house will mean a drain in financial resources. Other situations e.g. toilet at the East, West are equally important but weigthage should be given to the above two points. Any cures…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Pls advise on which birthdate should we use for all kinds of feng shui calculator ( eg. four pillar, kua, bazi, etc ) - the solar ( as in the birth certificate) or chinese lunar date? The online calculators on our website requires the use of your western/gregorian/solar date and time of birth (as defined in your birth certificate). It will then do the necessary conversion to the chinese lunar calendar for any specific analysis. That is why you will see a western and lunar calendar information at the beginning of the report for you to counter check to ensure that the information are correct. Hope that helps. You can read more, here:- http://forum.geomancy.net/phpforum/article.php?bid=2&fid=2&mid=23906&new= For example, this is an extract from the above resource link:- APPLYING LOCATION FACTOR INTO BA ZI 1. Frankly, all the various practitioners/master who use TIME ZONE or LOCATION factors, are modern changes avocated by modern practitioners. There is no such calculation when Ba Zi was invented in China. 2. The only method that is technically correct is to apply the LOCATION factor to the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Even this has two issues:- a) Even 0.01 degree off either the latitude and/or longtitude, will make a major change to your ba zi chart. This 0.01 degr…

1. In Feng Shui, the kitchen belongs to the lady of the house. The corner where one choose to place a kitchen depends on each individual home. In general, the Eight House chart of the lady of the house is considered, in addition to your first few written lines where possible it should not be at NW etc... The Flying Star chart of each of one of the 15 directions also need to be considered. 2. Thus it is so easy to provide a one liner statement " which corner would you place a kitchen. " Similarly, which corner you place a toilet. The key word is " It Depends!" Quote: Anonymous wrote: I been reading all the message that is not good to have the kitchen in the NW, center…

I'm just starting to study feng shui. My firstquestion is to determine which directionI shoulduse as my entry to my home. Ienter throughan open doorway intothe porch from the west, but then I turn and enterthe front door into the living roomfrom the south. The porch is not completely enclosed. It has walls half way up and a short wall coming down from the ceiling. I walk thru a doorway to enter the porch area. If I added windows and a door it would be an enclosed entryroom. Should I use the westporch entry or the southdoor into the living roomfor my entry direction?

In general, technically, it also depends on whether one is an east or west group person.

1. In the layout plan, as the bedroom / proposed study room door opens (at the side of that bedroom/study), Layout 2 is acceptable. 2. It is only personal feelings that we cannot immediately see someone coming into the room; otherwise Layout 2 is acceptable. 3. From a Shapes and Forms point of view, Layout 2 is better. As you had mentioned: by placing the two tables against both sides of the wall, this would bring several advantages: a. more spacious and easier movement b. easier cleaning c. visually looks more pleasing to the eye. Anonymous wrote: Generally, I'm more pro towards layout 2 but my husband is worried about his back facing the door. Actually, can we clarif…

Dear Shawn, The first priority under the Eight House Theory is to try to sleep close to an auspicious intangible force if you can. For example if the intangible force in the sector of the bed for the Husband is his Prosperity sector and for the wife, her Irritation sector, in such a situation, the Husband sleeps closer to the intangible force location. He therefore, sleeps closer to this intangible line. While the wife sleeps further away i.e. using him as a `shield'. Only after the considering the above and if you have the luxury, sleep with the head facing a good direction (if you can). If this cannot be done, than priority should be given to the above. Sleeping with t…

Dear Bernard, Bernard Chua wrote: I am a Horse born in 29 Dec 1978. Which direction should I sit facing in a business meeting / negotiationthat is to my advantage? You can either sit facing either your best eight house or best ba zi facing direction. I would recommend you go for your ba zi direction as this is more flexible to be used anywhere (ie not in your own office), while eight house is best used for house suitability or best work direction (in your own office). If you can find a direction that is both good for your eight house and bazi, that will be the most ideal direction to face whenever you have any business meeting or negotiations. A. Dear Mr. Cecil Lee, My Kua number is 2, My Eight house chart is Southwest. The main door of my house is in the North direction. My master bed room is in the Southeast section of the house (which is one of my bad directions) and attached to the bathroom/toilet via an open space between. Please help me to clarify these questions: 1. Does the curtain hung in the open space between the bed room and the bath/toilet room will enhance the good sha in the bed room? Currently I hang a thin curtain in this place and always close the toilet bowl lid and the toilet door when not in use. 2. If I like to place my bed in the NE section in the Master bed room, should I use the NE compute…

Dear Master Cecil: I am in the U.S. Here, people plant shrubs all around the exterior edges of a house (in every direction). I am very worried about planting shrubs outside the house. I do not want to plant anything and find out later on that it has adverse impact on the Feng Shui. Shrubs are "wood". Which directions are not suitable for having lots of wood? Or we should examine eight directions in conjunction with the Flying Star? Would you provide advices? Thank you. Regards, Jen

1. Definitely, one has to use the most accurate birth date or our "real birthdate". Frankly, after so many years, in this line, I have yet to come across, such an (obvious) question. 2. Frankly, this is very common; especially in the past: Singapore, Malaysia and many other countries. Many elderly said that they were born on such and such a date. But, as they live in rural area, their birth was registered e.g. at a police post a few days or even months. Quote: Katrina L. wrote: According to my mom, her real birthdate is January 11, 1939 BUT her birth certificate was burned along with other birth certificates in the city hall of her province. Dear Derek, If you are taking the compass direction of your unit's main entrance door, this should usually be the door to your unit i.e. as you had mentioned it should be the `North'. Usually, taking the exterior door direction is meant more for analysing e.g. a building rather than the unit itself. If you still require help, you can upload a sketch of the layout for my comments. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jessica, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- In traditional Feng Shui practise, the door you use often can be considered to be your main entrance door. No this information is not true. A door in an apartment e.g. inner building can be considered as the main entrance. No, going out into the open balcony cannot be considered as the Main entrance door. In real life, a Feng Shui Master needs to know two important things: 1. Finding the centre of the house i.e. finding the centrepoint This is considered necessary for every Feng Shui analysis. 2. Determine the exact direction of your main entrance door. However, if you have two or more entrances, you…

Dear Anon, Generally, if one does not want to go further into `Professional Feng Shui' e.g. using the Flying Star to analyse the birth chart of the house: 1. The Main Entrance Door & windows at the frontage of the house The Main Entrance Door is the most important door to be `protected' from poison arrows. Where possible, the edge of a building should not be aimed at the main entrance door. The best `test' is to stand at the main entrance and take alook at the area. There should not be a lone lamp post slicing thru the main door (like a knife slicing through butter) i.e. tangent to it or perpendicular to it. You should also stand inside the house looking out of the wi…
