Dear Anon, 1. This question is very interesting. 2. For the Chinese, many burial sites, both past and present, are chosen for their good Feng Shui. 3. The belief goes back to the Ching and Ming dynasties. Ancestors buried in special places are thought to bring luck to their descendants. 4. But there is a catch—a burial site that starts out good may not stay that way. Construction, digging up soil, or flattening hills can change how lucky the site is. 5. In Singapore, many of the best places were chosen for burials in the past: 5.1 For example, Orchard Road—across from Tangs or Marriott hotel and the current Orchard Road MRT station—used to be…

While going thru your recent property review (only pics??) I google the project andfound something interesting while looking at the sitemap of The Quartz. The shape of the project reminds me of a fish...with blk 63 the "Fish head" and ending at blk 51 with "The tail". The development at the side of blk 61 n 59 looks like the fin. Aka "Koi" With more water at the nearby Punggol park wat implication does it offer to the resident of The Quartz?? Or does it not? Maybe the developer purposely design it to look like this to compliment the huge water element at Punggol park. Related:

Dear Anon, There is some truth in this statement. 1. It is best to keep or concentrate pumbing to one side of the house: 1.1. For the developers, it is easier to build. (Although this is not our main concern here). 1.2. Many good houses have the above characteristics. Even many `good' buildings reserve e.g. a corner of the building for the pantry area, the male and female toilet is at this corner of the house. 1.3. The next important characteristics is to have the water position share an external wall. Here, this simply means that if the toilet shares an external wall it can never be at the centrepoint of the house. 1.4. In my opinion, it is not so much of preventing the …

  5. Dear Anon, In Feng Shui practice, some people pay close attention to details, while others consider them less important. For example, some practitioners ask their clients to buy a special bamboo flute they have designed, such as a Dragon and Phoenix Flute, and insist it be used in a specific way—with the Dragon on the east or left side, and the Phoenix on the right. One important point is to decide for yourself whether the practitioner is genuinely recommending these items for your benefit or simply selling commercial products. It is also debatable whether you need to display certain symbols or items, like a four-letter character, in a visible spot. Some practi…

Dear Vincent, Thanks for sharing with us the information about the placement of stoves in Sweden. Yes, infact, I have come across this when a few readers e-mailed me about it quite sometime back. In Feng Shui, we generally avoid placing the stove in the center of the kitchen, and this is not commonly practiced in China. Most stoves are installed against a wall. Since having the stove in the middle is quite standard in Sweden, it should be acceptable, as Feng Shui mainly advises against placing the stove next to the sink or refrigerator. In this arrangement, placing the stove in the middle means it won’t clash with the sink. Another key consideration in Trad…

  7. Yes Master, I agree with your statements, I know many Fukienese in our place which were much, say, laid back than us of Cantonese descent...as they are more versatile in business. The HSBC Tower designed by I.M. Pei, for me isn't really blending with HK skyline...many people protested its construction...say the architects name and the building itself has ominous overtones. I also hear of mirror and ba-gua wars in HK and Guangdong. I also consider myself obsessed with Feng shui, as in taking it literally and with caution. Thanks Master for the time...looking forward to be enlightened again.

Dear SL, 1. In my opinion, if you want to truly understand real Feng Shui, you should start with academic books, especially those by Dr. Evelyn Lip. 2. Some of Dr. Evelyn Lip’s books include “Feng Shui for the Home” and “Chinese Geomancy.” These titles are easy to find on online bookstores like Amazon. 3. Unfortunately, many people today overlook her books because they focus on the history, origins, and foundational concepts of Feng Shui rather than providing step-by-step advice or quick solutions. Instead, many readers are drawn to authors who offer easy-to-follow instructions. This leads people to believe these are the “real” practices because they seem s…

    1. Please note that the term you used should not be "FAKE" or "genuine." Instead, all Feng Shui products should be described as "MODERN Commercial Products." 2. Most Feng Shui products are modern creations and are not fakes. Only antiques can be classified as genuine or fake. 3. Many Feng Shui products have symbolic meanings. For example, both ancient and replica I-Ching coins—those round coins with square holes—can be used in Feng Shui. You should not call these coins fake unless someone sells you one and you later discover it is not what was promised. 4. Some traditional symbolic items often used by Feng Shui practitioners include: 4.1 Hulu or bottle…

  14. Dear Glynis, Yes, Feng Shui is getting popular not only in Singapore but all over. As to the matter on how to determine, well you might like to have a chat with who ever the practitioner is and even check out from friends who you know had consulted them before. The make a judgement from what you know of the practitioner. Cecil and myself are glad that you are now doing well in your business:) This forum and chat is still relatively new (less then a week), so it will take time before the users are aware of it so it will take time before the chat room is occupied. Thank you for comments. We will continue to improve the site. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Dear Danni, Is there a cure for sick houses? 1. It depends on how much renovation has taken place. 2. Since I don’t have a complete picture of the changes from the original layout, it’s hard to say if there’s a cure. 3. In my grandpa’s case, the only solution was to tear down the house and rebuild it. 4. From your description of major work done on the ground level, it might be a similar situation—especially if the top part of the house was changed, made too heavy, or disturbed. 5. My grandpa’s experience clearly shows that “Flying Star” or “Compass School” Feng Shui would not be effective in such cases. 6. For those who rely only on Compass…

And one member (especially the breadwinner) is a Strong Earth person; in this situation: 2. Under the Five Elements Concept: 2.1 A `WOOD' HOUSE vs `STRONG' EARTH PERSON Good Match. The wood house is considered favourable as it helps to "control" or help (aid) a Strong Earth person. 2.2 A `WOOD' HOUSE vs `WEAK' EARTH PERSON Inauspicious. As wood will further weaken a Weak Earth Person. 3. The above is one of the many aspects we look at the relationship between Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny usin…

  18. Hi Shi Fu I am looking for a new place and I chanced upon this unit whose door faces the mirrored lift door directly (please refer to the picture below). To be frank I have heard that such units will bring misfortune and ill luck for the person that resides there but I wanted to know if this is true. If it is indeed true, what are the ways that this can be counteracted?

  19. 1. This has been mentioned many (many) times under previous postings:- 1.1. Under Period 8 [P8], (in general) without considering Shapes and Forms and other external factors:- 1.2 P8 NE and SW generally have favourable wealth qi. Only need to balance the sickness stars for these two configurations. 1.3 Under P8, South and East also do enjoy favourable wealth qi. For the East, just because of where the afternoon sun affects which part of the home.

  20. Dear Meei Jinn, Often if you are close to the equator, I personally find that the geographical North often coincides with the magnetic North. For a layperson, one often use a hiking compass. It still points to the magnetic north. For us, we often use a higher grade compass like the Suunto or other better brands. This is because; the higher professional compass often are "balanced" to a specific zone. For example, the Suunto brand categorise the world into 5 different compass zones. Northern hemisphere which includes Canada/North America falls under Zone 1 etc... But one is not expected to buy this type of compass. From my personal analysis; if you are in Singapore, more li…

Yes, as long as the pointed triangle roof is not facing a unit, that is fine. Some units that face the private estate have the master bedroom, second bedroom, and even the living room looking toward the pointed roofs of the landed properties. In this context, a ‘pointed triangle roof’ refers to a roof design where two sloping sides meet at a sharp angle, forming a peak or tip, much like the letter ‘A’ or a triangle. This type of roof is often seen in traditional houses and can create a clear, pointed shape. Examples include: 1. A-frame Roof: Both sides of the roof slope down steeply from a central ridge, creating a triangular profile when viewed from th…
