Dear Ellen, The Kallang River canal seems to be slicing into the area where Blk 124 and the Macpherson constituency building makes this block so, so. Better unit is opposite of the canal. Since you mentioned that the canal will be covered, this is better. Since this is a point-block, where qi can flow all round it, this is a plus point. Overall, I would say that it is an `average' site. (However, still in general ok.) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Elena, In the living room, it is ideal to activate water star than mountain star. Water star, as the name suggests implies clear space and thus, ideally, when one stands around the living room one should have a clear view of all areas of the room. Water star (clear space) is the opposite of mountain star. In addition, some people who are not aware, even may try to activate a mountain star at their front door! Here, it is like placing an `obstruction' at the front entrance. Usually, some portions of the living room has either windows or glass panels and large open area (which suits water star). One can still activate mountain star e.g. a painting in the living room e…

Dear Anon, 1. One should normally, not combine the two. This is because when we usually look at location's qi, we take into account the magnetic influence and qi flow within that room. 2. Human beings is considered as having a `different' type of qi i.e. a human being that is alive and kicking has their own body qi or a combination of yin-yang qi. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Masters, I would like to find out if there is any way I can activate a pearl string formation of my flat if the external landforms don't support. Fengshui teachers say that real mountains and water bodies are required before the pearl string can be activated. Since I can't see any of these landforms around the vicinity, does that mean nothing can be done to harness the benefits of a pearl string formation? Thank you sincerely in advance for your advice.

  5. The 2 garage doors and driveway of this house face NE and the main street. However, the main entrance (front door) is on the side of the building, and faces S. Which is the direction of this house, NE or S?

Dear Steven, For a clear glass or see thru glass, such as those in modern shopping units, can be threatened by a `poison' arrow from a distance. Frosted glass or opaque film, would do the `trick'. Here, if one cannot see, it no longer becomes a threat is `half-true' i.e. half-solved. The treat has still to be neutralised outside the building to take effect. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Sara, 1. In my opinion, crystals is not prominently used in authentic Feng Shui but more as `beliefs'. 2. Although many FS cures do not use crystals (due to the nature that it may enhance earth elements); there are quite a sizable number of sales of crystals. The most saleable items (as an alternative to jade bracelets) are `crystal' beaded bracelets. Frankly it is much harder to find reference on locations where to or best place to hang these. In many of my audits of `Chinese' homes, I do see owners placing them on windows. I would normally term these as `decorations'. From my obervation and understanding; many FS practitioners would term crystal(s) as belonging to…

  10. Hello we are trying to arrange our living/ dining room and buy a new sofa. Unfortunately we have a rectangle shaped room with a lot of windows! The only workable place to put the sofa (that would put it against a wall- also a good idea as we have a climbing toddler who likes to climb the sofa) puts the side of the sofa in direct line of the front door- although there is/ will be a cabinet for shoes or a buffet against the wall closer to the front door and there is a distance of around 4m-5m from the front door to the sofa. Is this still a bad place to put the sofa- or, are there any other positions you could suggest given the room layout? If it is a bad place to…

Hi Carrie Are you sleeping in your Death or Disaster Sector ? This could be contributing to your problem. I have noticed in my practice that when clients complain of insomnia, invariably their bedrooms have yellow or blue walls. And, these two colors in many cases are usually activating some inauspicious stars which are contributing to the sleep problem. There appear to be many problems which you will have to address, but I give my input based on my experiences to date. Best wishes Glyn

Hello, I'm looking to buy a house but I have been told it is an out of trigram house and advised not to buy it. However, the house is perfect for me on so many levels and it's layout and location is very good, feng shui wise. Where I live, it is very hard to find a house with good feng shui layout and good feng shui surroundings. Should I give up on the house because it is out of trigram? It is also a reversed house according to the flying stars for both possible readings but the cures for important areas are the same i.e. metal. Also, would restumping, changing carpets in the bedrooms, changing the kitchen floor, re-sanding the living room floor, changing the f…

Dear Carrie, To confirm, it is a poision arrow only if it is aimed at you. This is where the tip of the poison arrow is tangent to any part of your window area. If so, apply the concept if you cannot see it, it no longer becomes a threat. Here, you can consider using a curtain or a venetian blind on the window. Do you something which can still allow light into the house. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, It is always considered a `disadvantage' to have missing corners in a home. And there can be other significance not necessarily with regards to `recognition'. Yes, there are a few known cures and some of this include:- 1. Using a mirror to `extend' a missing corner. However, this option is best looked at in relation to Compass School Feng Shui. Here, a mirror is considered a double `edged sword': if the particular location in question is auspicious, then it can bounce back twice the good luck. But if it si an inauspicous sector, it can bounce back twice the bad luck. 2. For a landed property, there are more options. Here, the idea is to symbolically, add an out…

  18. Dear Master, Just a general enquiry on door sizes and if there are any concerns. My main door is 7 ft high while I intend to install a sliding glass door separating the dry and wet kitchen. This however is 9 ft high. The location of the main door and sliding glass door is not aligned. However, I did heard that it is best to keep the main door as the biggest. As such, is it advised to reduce the height of the sliding glass door opening to 7 ft, with 2ft fixed glass panel? Or is it ok to still keep the glass door 9 ft high? Thanks and really appreciate the advice.

Dear Colleen, Since it is a decorative piece, it can be placed in the living room. A belief is that it can face outwards e.g. looking out of the living room. 22. Hello Master, my wife's birth cert (date of birth) has a high probability that it is not accurate due to a lax enforcement 40 years ago in her village at the time. If I want to do a BaZi reading for myself and her to find out our element compatibility, is it still possible? If not, is there another way?

Dear Brenda, Frankly, sometimes it is difficult to change the interior of the house especially the plumbing i.e. relocation of say the kitchen sink. We may have to live with such a situation. I believe that there is nothing more, in Feng Shui that we can do here. Other than, shift it away and make clear space. Warmest Regards, Cecil

I have a birch tree in front of my house, more to the South East. One third of this tree seems to be dead and some big branches are falling. Shall I cut it and remove the roots completely, shall I cut just the dead parts, shall I keep the stump hoping it will revive? Shall I plant another tree immediately after removing it? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
