Dear Bryan, For TV's and other electrical items, currently there are three views on this:- 1. Electricity is considered a water element because of its " fluid " nature for example we can visualise them like " watercourses " i.e. the flow of electricity through the wires. 2. It can be used to `block' or `neutralise' bad ch'i because it has magnetic properties. For example when we hold a compass to a wire, the compass needle is attracted to the wire. 3. One practioner said that para 2 is all nonsense! She concluded that when Feng Shui was `born' there was no electricity. So she reasoned that this is not true. My own belief is that I would like to believe in Para 1 and 2. Pa…

Dear Debbie, In general or wider sense, there is little on the topic of how we can make use of Feng Shui to sell a house. However, under the Feng Shui/Chinese Astrology, a Geomancer can find a `good' date for a person to `sell' the house. Let me elaborate:- This is through the use of the 5 elements concept under the Pillars of Destiny. For example, if you are a person whose main element is " Weak Water ". Each particular day and even time, is governed by an element. Not to complicate matters, its assume that today is governed by the ` Water element ". Since today's element is Water, Water will improve your Weak Water and this is considered your favourable day. More compli…

Dear Jackie, To be frank, based on the current information given by you on the Eight House + Eight Associations it is difficult to comment at this stage what has really `happened'. As it may or may not be true of the problem i.e. career sector lies in your `death' intangible force. Dear Edward, To confirm, if your birthdate is between 27 Jan 1952 to 13 Feb 1953, yes you are considered an East person. As 210 degrees is between 202.5 degrees to 247.4 degrees, this is considered the South West Sector. (Under this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm at Step 6: Determine the direction of the main entrance door, you can make use of the table to determine the range also). Unfortunately, South West has the `disaster' intangible force for an East person. Dear Jackie, Thanks for taking the time to share with us your Feng Shui encounter. I am very glad that you have benefited from information on this website In the Far East, (as I am more familiar with this area) Feng Shui Masters normally perform Feng Shui audits only. If a house is found to need certain `fixes', he/she would then recommend the householder on what to purchase. The reason for this is obvious, so that there is no conflict of interests (in him/her wanting to do a Feng Shui audit and selling you Feng Shui materials. So far, like you, personally I have reservations about this type of Feng Shui audit. But I am aware, this is widely practised in the West so not s…

Dear Julie, It is not auspicious to move the main entrance door to the Kitchen area as this is another Feng Shui `taboo'. In Traditional Feng Shui practise, your main entrance door should not open to a kitchen, In addition to this, it is your disaster line. I have offered a few suggestions othe than to keep the place bright and close the door. You may like to review this url: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/bbs-oneall.htm These are some other alternatives offered in the above link:- 1. Mild forms that will not affect a close-by neighbour includes:- a. tilting the front door from an inauspicious to an auspicious direction. b. using a specially made semi-circle carpet outside th…

Sir, I could't contact you immdly as I was on tour.I have been asked by one our forum member regarding the square table formula and as of my knowledge same is given to your kind persusal and would like to know your comments and advices if any. Normaly if any of the corner is missing the opposite corner is to be noticed.e.g. If north east corner is missing,we may have to check the south west corner also.If that is also missed, then there is no need to worry about that,as such missing corners structuraly balaced and this is applicable to all sort of missing corners. If the missing corner is only at the particular orientation of the site.as the case refered for NORTH EAST,…

Dear Karen, One best test to see if a mirror is located in a good or bad location is by sitting on the bed. If you can see your profile in the mirror either lying down or simply setting on the bed, this is considered no good under Feng Shui. The rationale is because, it was felt that when we sleep, our souls leave our body and when it sees itself in a mirror, it will get a `shock'. This view is widely held although some authors may interpret this differently but still hold on to this concept. In my website, I mentioned that, if you do not have a problem and can sleep peacefully with a mirror facing you, then, go ahead but if you have restless sleeps, perhaps, you may want…

Dear Karen, It would be good if you can relook at a step-by-step guide on house to perform a Eight House analysis at this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/house1.htm I know everyone wants a `quick fix' solution and only think of e.g. the career sector. But to be frank, this is considered " Fast Food Feng Shui ". As I mentioned in a few messages in this forum that the Eight Associations or Eight Aspirations or Life Aspirations is only a general guide ... not to be taken seriously .. until every other Feng Shui theory has been taken care off especially the Flying Star Chart. Even under the Eight Associations, the time factor should be taken care of. For those who want to fin…

Dear Glyn, Thanks very much. Robert and myself do appreciate it. Your words of encouragments will further encourage us to work harder especially on the course. Just to let you know on the progress of the course, I am currently busy reviewing the syllabus and content of the various courses under www.geomancy-u.com We will have modules or building blocks where there is a specific purpose in learning and applying what we have learnt. An essential part of the foundation course is to impart to all students knowledge of what is and what is not Feng Shui (e.g. superstitious beliefs). We will try to make the courses as affordable as possible and useful to everyone. At the same ti…

I attended a seminar on baubiology. They offer a course in baubiology from florida. Usually, it is german concept of building homes which are in harmony with nature and also environmentally safe. They stress avoiding the water lines and electromagnetic lines and electric lines. According to their theory the houses should be built with environmental sound material. One should not sleep with telephones, electric clocks, tv and computer in the bedrooms etc. I attended the seminar last year. If I come across the notes and address of that course. I will post it. Usually, in this city there are some baubiology trained inspectors who come and inspect your homes for harmful rad…

Dear Jez, Please read below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Thursday, February 25, 1999 5:39 AM Subject: Double 7 on the North Is this a period 7 house? If it is, it is an excellent sector. If it falls under the main door it will bring prosperity for the entire house. In the bedroom, does that direction has a windows? If it does, you can put a fan near the window, to blow in the wind, activating the prosperity for the room. Otherwise, the other method is to user a fountain. But as it is the bedroom it is not advisable:) Hope that helps you:) Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Dear Karen, Question: have a set of antique furniture which was given by my mum. I measured the furniture and it fits the good measures of the Feng Shui Ruler. Is this good? Yes most Chinese antique furnitures do have a set of measurements that follows the Feng Shui ruler. In the past, there are highly skilled Feng Shui `practioners' who specialise in carpentry work. As the furniture was given by your mum (to confirm: from her home?) if so, it is OK. For other antique furniture that you want to purchase, where possible check it's origin. This is because it is said that furnitures do absorb the ch'i from its surroundings and for example when we purchase a home, a FS Ma…

In addition to the message below, please note that many Feng Shui Masters feel that if you are installing mirrors please remember not to install too "short " a mirror such that it cut's off a person's head or when you view the mirror, part of your head is missing. This is inauspicious. Do I need a full length mirror? As for the lower part of the body, it is ok if the mirror covers say from the shoulder to the head of the body. For example like the bathroom mirror. You do not need to install a full length mirror. -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Thursday, February 25, 1999 2:27 PM Subject: Re: Two…

Dear Glyn Apologise for " scaring you " on the topic of Devil's gate. The point to note here is that:- From what I understand, your house is large by comparison. But the main important consideration is that the trees `orderly' planted and it should be well kept and and the space surrounding it tidy. This would be OK. For the West, you can still continue to place the windchime as this is your very auspcious location. But try to avoid at SW. Dear Glyn, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- From: Listmanager To: Recipients of 'free-advice' suppressed suppressed> Date: Tuesday, February 23, 1999 7:30 AM Subject: Devil's Gate There is an interesting short article I wrote on the Devil's main gate at: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/gate.htm It is not necessary as you have a large house and the trees are `proportionate' to the house. You can also check the type of leaves. Where best the trees at this area should preferably have `pointed' leaves rather than rounded leaves. I am more concerned with too many plants at the West or South West location as these are primarily YIN locations and too many pl…

Dear Barbara, A cemetry is considered a `Yin' environment. What you can do is to create a Yang environment. Yes, you should plut a Pakua mirror above your patio. Another way to counteract this is to paint the side of your wall `bright colours' such as Pink. This is to create a Yang environment. Can you let me know which direction of this side of the house before I recommend the colour for the door? Yes, you can also use curtains. Make sure that they are bright coloured. Again, I need the information on the direction inorder to recommend u the appropriate colour for the curtains. It is not good to plant large bushes as it would harbour `spirits' especially large trees. Wha…

Dear Bless, In general, plants can be divided into two categories:- 1. Plants that are considered `yang' e.g. the characteristic is that their leaves are `pointed' shape or have thorns eg. cactus and chrysanthenum. 2. Plants that are `yin' eg. leaves that are rounded. In a recent US NASA study on the effects of plants (natural plants) on the environment, it was found that plants (infact most plants but they ranked the plants) are found to be good to be placed indoors and good on the internal environment. It is also considered particularly good if the pot is made of clay. The caution under feng shui is to avoid having too many plants concentrated particularly at the West s…

Dear Jackie, Under traditional Feng Shui, there are a few sets of theories and this includes 9 Star Ki, an equivalent of Feng Shui numerology. Briefly, the main theories (Ranked) in importance are:- 1. Pillars of Destiny (to determine your true element) e.g. your true element and it's strength. This is ranked 1st (jointly ) with the Flying Star Theory (which looks at your house's birth chart). 2. Next, comes the Eight House theory which is used to determine the "Best house " for a person i.e. 4 good and 4 bad directions. Under the Eight House theory, you get a general reading of what is known as the Eight Associations or Eight Aspirations or Life Aspirations. Where this…

Dear Jackie, Since you are a Southwest person, more importanly, you should try to sleep with your head facing either one of the following:- West - Health SW - Excellent NW - Longevity NE - Prosperity Yes, it is not auspcious for the bedroom door to face the kitchen sink. This is akin to `water' flushing down the sink. The best option here is not to close the door when not `in use'. Alternatively, (not compulsory) but an option only: install a beaded curtain or a curtain on the door. -----Original Message-----

Dear Jessica, Please see below:- -----Original Message----- In traditional Feng Shui practise, the door you use often can be considered to be your main entrance door. No this information is not true. A door in an apartment e.g. inner building can be considered as the main entrance. No, going out into the open balcony cannot be considered as the Main entrance door. In real life, a Feng Shui Master needs to know two important things: 1. Finding the centre of the house i.e. finding the centrepoint This is considered necessary for every Feng Shui analysis. 2. Determine the exact direction of your main entrance door. However, if you have two or more entrances, you…
