Dear Cecil and Robert, I am having such difficulty with the placement of my furniture; especially the bedroom. taking compass direction seems to be difficult. This is because I've read that directions are measured by degrees. My questions are... Where do I place my bed? My auspicious directions are NORTHWEST, NORTHEAST, SOUTHWEST, and WEST. As I have tried to situate my bed. It is definitely impossible. Although I have a bedroom measurements of 11'- 4" X 14" - 6" I CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE PLACEMENT CORRECT. The WEST is a WALK IN CLOSET and the ENTRANCE to my BEDROOM. NORTHWEST is DIRECTLY BEHIND the DOOR. SOUTHWEST is the CORNER of the WALK-IN CLOSET, AND NORTHEAST is adjac…

  2. Dear Anon, In Feng Shui, this is known as the `coffin' position. This is actually where a dead person was brought home into the home and his/her dead body would face a door. (Really to be carried away) when the funeral possession starts. This is not exactly an `exciting' location to be in. Warmest Regars, Cecil

  3. Dear Rev. Michael, 1. Based on my personal experience, it is best to firstly, follow the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui in determining the best direction for a bed. Here, where possible when one opens the bedroom door, it should not directly face the bed (e.g. the leg portion). Most bedrooms now have an attached bathroom and it is considered not auspicious to place the bed on the same wall as the toilet wall especially on the opposite wall as the toilet bowl. 2. As mentioned above, conditions for `Shapes and Form' Feng Shui has first to be met before using other Feng Shui theories. 3. Next, we can use the Eight House Theory. Here, take it as a bonus if the bed can be…

Dear San, 1. Sorry, I could not view the link despite cut-paste the link. 2. Actually, it is very common especially for landed properties to have bed-head resting against the window. 3. Locally in Singapore, it is also common to find some people sleep with the bedhead against the window in particular if it is landed property especially if the window bay is well shielded especially from the rain. Or shielded from heavy winds during heavy rain fall with strong gust of wind. 4. Thus, try not to be mistaken that it is "no good" to sleep with bed-head against the window especially if it is a bay window. 5. The concern is meant more for high rise living. For example, in S…

Hi, Attached is a sketch of my current bedroom layout. For my bedroom, the whole stretch of the North wall is the window. The store door, the Bedroom door, and the Bedroom window is in one line. I'm born on 11 June 1988, my KUA number is 3, my self element is YIN FIRE. I'm quite confused about where to reposition my bed. My self element is fire, so is it good for me to sleep on a wooden bed? Is sleeping at the bottom-deck of a double-deck bed good? What remedies can be used if my head of my bed is not against a solid wall? Now I'm sleeping on my bed with my head facing South, BUT is it ok that my head is facing the Toilet door? Can I sleep with my head facing…

Guess I have to shift asap as its indeed the toilet bowl behind the bed! Other remedies I will do is install a canopy over the bed as there's a ceiling fan on top; Clear out the storage space underneath the bed as its packed. I hope I can see a difference soon, and will continue to do more research. Thank you!

  9. My bedroom is always on my mind and the position of the bed is very bothersome to me. My husband is the breadwinner of the family; if we position the bed according to A, his direction is 'personal development' and mine 'success'.. BUT, the entrance into the room is between 2 closets and is kind of 'behind us' - which is my understanding is very bad... However, if we position the bed according to B, that sleeping direction is '5 ghosts' for my husband and 'total loss' for me. So... My dilemma is evident. Which is better and which should be avoided? The size of the room really only allows for these two positions? husbands kua is 2 (monkey), my kua is 8 (rat). I am attachin…

Dear Anon, Please see below:- It would not be advisable to have you rhead face the direction of the entrance to your room (door?). Alternatively, one should not sleep based on the `coffin' position with the legs facing the bedroom door. I know of some FS practitioners who would not mind: 1. as mentioned by u leaving a 45 degree hollow. 2. leaving the bed at the centre of the bedroom where the bedhead does not rest (at least against a wall). In my opinion, the above positions are not ideal or inauspicious - to me. Although your description of South = Fire is correct; any thing else, mentioned by you is hard to apply and there is no basis to say that South = you…

Dear Master CeCil, Like to seek your advice. Based on your website Bazi calculator ( and also the paid report), it states that sleep position towards west is favourable for me. ( so is my wife bazi as well also based on the calculator). both me and my wife kua no. is 2. Refer to the proposed floor plan, this bed is towards east. ( where head is pointing toward east when sleeping). If favourable sleep position is towards west, does that means i should shift the bed to the other side of the wall ? if shifted to the other side, the toilet door is facing our body while sleeping, should i use a wardrobe to place it to block the toilet door ? or can i…

Dear Anon, 1. Thank you for your layout plan. 2. Attached please find my comments in the attached file below. 3. Priority is to place the bed based on Shapes and Forms school first. It would be nice to have, it if it can match your Gua no. but priority must be given to proper placement as shown in the attached layout. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  14. Dear Joanna, 1. I hope I understand your message correctly. Do you mean that the bed should be on the opposite wall from the bedroom door? If so, this is often the norm - for privacy and also, one can often see who comes thru the door, first. 2. But, one must be careful of the "coffin position". This is where, the feet should not point directly towards the bedroom door. Here, this is symbolic of carrying a dead body out of the home. If there is really no choice, either: 1. do have a bed head - or a small bed head cabinet where one can place one's alarm clock and some personal items e.g. watch etc.. 2. the other alternative is leave a few inches gap between the wall an…

Human or man luck or feel good factor usually far outweighs others: Many of us don't have good Heaven luck (born with) nor Earth luck (Feng Shui of the home). But those who have good human or man luck; will go far. FEEL GOOD, please!

Sirs, For several years, my husband and I had our bed with the head facing north; the bed itself was in the northwest. North is good for me, northwest is good for him. We were trying to have a child. We finally had a daughter. It was considered quite remarkable I was able to have a child at all, so this is a great blessing for us. Then, when our daughter was five months, I became quite ill. I sucessfully recovered, but became very concerned about the position of our bed- the northwest being the death position for me. We changed our bed to the north/northeast, with me sleeping on the north side and my husband sleeping on the northeast side. The head of the bed now faces …

    1. Strictly from a Shapes and Forms, position, the only "threat" that you may have to take note is the bedroom door. 2. The illustration shows that if your door is "half-closed" or "half-opened", the door is like a blade and may slice into the master bed .... as shown in a straight line "in purple colour" in the attachment. 3. For this bedroom, either fully open the door as you had illustrated or even better, if it can fully open towards "the blue marking". Or simply close the bedroom door when going to sleep. 4. As for "cures" if you have applied Flying Star Feng Shui, then it would depend on the Flying Star numbers found in that bedroom.

  18. Dear Master Lee Thank you for your quick reply and advice. We currently sleep with the door closed. I understand that this would minimize the problem. I will take your advice and place a "shield" between the bedroom door and the child's bed. Thank you very much.

Dear May, It is good to avoid the "coffin position" where the legs should not face the bedroom door. If so, best to "change position"; at least with the head facing the bedroom door is (not ideal) but acceptable). If you need some privacy; it would be good if the bed has a bedhead. Else if not, then something like a clean bath towel placed on a "open-hole" bedhead is acceptable. For rooms that may have #5 or #2 avoid bright yellow or bright red in a bedroom. As a safeguard to avoid the sickness stars. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  20. Dear Sharon, One thing for sure, many of us are "getting old". And our body parts are "wearing out" or most likely, the weather is indeed getting colder. Sorry for the side-track, thou. Usually, on the medical side, often, prolonged sleeping in such a situation plus the age, could affect our body. Alternatively, it is also the food we take or lack of vitamins. Anyway, from a Feng Shui point of view, if you are able to chart out the sector Flying Star, most likely, the #5 sickness or misfortune or #2 sickness star could most likely have flown into your bedroom. To be certain, or reduce the incidence, check to see if you can try to avoid colours such as : Yellow (brig…

Dear Linda, First, on your question of the beam. Frankly, it is best not to paint the flute to white. Under the 5 elements concept, if your beam (in particular) is of cement exterior, the beam is considered of the earth element. Thus, in order to destroy earth, wood should be introduced. Therefore, if the beam is a concrete beam; then, you should introduce wood. However, if you have painted the wood to white, this now becomes the metal element (as white represents the metal element). In this case, two wooden flutes in its original element i.e. brown or green are the correct element to use. However, if the beam is made of wood (or wooden beam) then, the element you shoul…

Dear Carina, Frankly, it all depends on where the over-head beam is or if the overhead beam is at the edge of a bedroom; then how thick it is. Please see attachment. In the attachment one can see that although there is a beam around the "bed-head" area, one can still sensibly place the bed head slightly further the wall i.e. not touching the wall. And if we includ the pillow case and where we lie on the pillow, we can see that often, the beam is no longer above our head. Since you have not mentioned in detail whether your situation is like the above or if there is beam that is extremely thick or the beam suddenly protrudes further and not at the edge. If your situ…

Dear Alan, 1. In my opinon, this edge has minimal impact. 2. Even if there is an impact zone, I strongly believe the `impact' zone is approximately 2 feet from the edge. 3. If you do not move the bed slightly away, it is still OK. But if you want to, can move it further by a few inches (as shown in the attached illustration. Warmest Regards, Cecil
