Dear Patricia, If you have a bed between the bedroom door and the bedroom, you can place a side table with a table lamp. The table lamp and the side table will be symbolic of a partition between the two. Other than this, a screen can be used. If this is not possible or feasible to do so then there is not much that can be done other than to close the bathroom door when not in use. Warmest Regards, Cecil

    1. There is no issue with the bed is in front of the door. 2. You said: If they are put against the window, then they are in burial position, feet facing door." If you are trying to avoid the burial position" then simply don't DO this option (full stop). Not everything has an "effective" remedy. Again: don't do it! Quote: "If the beds are moved to the other side, then they are in front of the door. If they are put against the window, then they are in burial position, feet facing door."

    1. In an ideal situation, of course before buying or (renting) a home, it is best to consider the issues that you had mentioned. 2. Otherwise, based on the Eight House theory, this theory has it's limitations i.e. either you sleep in that sector or away from it. 3. Given that there is no way, nor room to relocate say your daughter, then, if Feng Shui is applied, then; 3.1 If you are DIY Feng Shui, then consider ways to fix "leaks" or improve health/safety: -http://www.geomancy.net/wiki/Main_Page#Key_Success_Factors_in_D.I.Y._Feng_Shui 3.2 Or alternatively seek professional Feng Shui help.

Dear Nisha, Actually, the concern of a mirror facing the bed stems from the belief that when one sleeps, some Chinese belief that the spirit leaves the body. When doing so, it may get a "shock" to see itself in the mirror. This is why, often, numerous Feng Shui books or practitioners does not favour having a mirror facing the bed. However, in the past I had mentioned that more importantly, it has to do with "how sensitive" we are or are not. For example, contrary to the above belief, we could say that when we sleep, our spirit, leaves our body. And, because it wants to look nice, look into the mirror and combs his/her hair before, going off! 2. Overall, we often hear tha…

Hi Anon, Unfortunately, the better placement of a bed position can only be done if you have the options to. In your case, you do not have much of a choice. A bed facing the toilet door isn't really that bad. Most of the time most houses are so small now a days, that you get this almost all the time. As our home toilet is usually not as dirty as a public toilet, frankly this is a minor issue compared to other issues. So my advice is just keep to your current best position, and keep the toilet cover down and/or toilet door close when not in use. Hope that helps. These are some considerations:- 1. The Key success factor is First Choice: based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. And critically, for a bedroom, one has to visualise how qi flow and where is the dead qi of a bedroom. 1.1. For example; please see attachment. The areas marked in RED are considered as Dead Qi area. Where assuming that without turning on the air-con to circulate in bedrooms: Master Bedroom, Bedroom 2 and or Bedroom 3; these areas highlighted in RED is not favourable for the bed-head to be placed close to such areas. 1.2. Such areas are ideally locations for wardrope. Unless as mentioned under Para 1.1. if an air-con is turned on all the time; then there …

Dear Jason, For a bedroom, we should look at it from the perspective of: "nice-to-have" or "must-(should)-have". Often, many of our bedrooms are small, and furthermore, there are "restrictions" such as having windows and there is also the bedroom door. Because of all these constraints, there are few if any best positions to place the bed. More importantly, between the two schools: Shapes and Forms or Compass School (Eight house), the most important consideration is based on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui. Here, Shapes and Forms Feng Shui should be considred as "must-should-have". While the eight house concept would have to be considered as "nice-to-have". Often, realisti…

Dear James, "The shielding effect" Under the Eight House Theory, it is good for the partners to sleep on the correct side of each other. For example, if one is a West Group (House) person e.g. best directions are North, South, West and North-West. And if the other partner has inauspicious directions, then, the person who is a West Group person should sleep closer to the compass directions Nort, South, West and North-West. While his/her partner sleeps further to this closer to East, SE, NE or SW. Thus, the person who has auspicious sectors can `shield' the other partner. Warmest Regards, Cecil

    1. Based strictly on Shapes and Forms Feng Shui; your attached layout plan is pretty common given the constraints of windows / balcony / toilet door / bedroom door and location to mount the tv set. 2. Thus overall, looks fine under Shapes and Forms Feng Shui.

  12. Frankly, this type of layout plan is quite common. From a general Feng Shui point of view; not that critical. If you don't like what you see when entering the bedroom door; then simply close the toilet door when not in use.

Hi, I checked the center of the house, the bedroom is probably part in the northeast sector and part in the east sector. The whole house is a long rectangle where the long wall of the house faces 330deg if looking from the center spot. My bedroom is on the short side of the house right on the top of the garage, closer to the central northeast (45deg) side of the house ( there are another small room adjacent to my bedroom close to the central east direction 90deg). I am not exactly sure about the exact length of the house, so it is hard to say if my bedroom is really in the northeast sector or mainly in the east sector. So my question would be if my bedroom resides mainly …

I seem to be having bad luck especially relating to disputes and arguments whenever I spend time in the master bedroom located in the SW corner of the house. There is a large fireplace and mirrored closet doors. The bedroom has no windows and several doors: door to hallway, double glass patio doors, and door to attached bathroom. What is the best remedy for the fireplace? I tried placing a rose quartz tree in front of the fireplace, however, it seemed to be making the situation worse. The fireplace is quite large.

I have heard that it is not good tolet young people or couplessleeping in bedrooms just behind the altar as it will affect their relationships with their other half. Is it really true? If that is the case, may i know what else canbe done to alleviate the situation ifthere is no way of swapping rooms with other members in the household?

Dear Anon, Frankly, there is nothing one can do, this this are physical constraints. But make sure that you do not really sleep directly below the sewerage pipes or the toilet bowl. And the piping should be in good repair. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anthony, 1. Usually, for a house at ground level, the following is `acceptable' Feng Shui for a split level house: 1.1 The living room should be the lowest. There can be steps to the dining room. And the staircase to the second storey can be at this level (dining room level). The kitchen can be slightly lower than the dining room. For example a few inches lower to 6 inches. There is no hard and fast rule. But rather more important, is that the backyard should have good backing or solid support e.g. a retaining wall. To act as a `tortise back'. The rationale is that sometimes we need to wash the floor and water do not need to flow into the dining room and subsequentl…

Dear Anon, I believe there are two sides of the "coin": 1. Usually, on one side of the coin, even if we are correct, the person who owns the house has a major say or decision. 2. In my opinion, to equate South = fire element is quite a raw analysis. And therefore, should not be relied on totally. 3. Under the Traditional Feng Shui, when painting a room, it is based on two steps: 3.1 Flying Star of that specific sector Under the Flying Star theory, it does not mean that South = fire and fire is at this sector. Contrary to this, it is best to look at the relationships of all three elements : MS # with WS # with Base #. And work out what is the element either absent or…

I am looking to repaint my bedroom but I'm not sure what would be a good color. I have a lot of water symbols already in my room and I wanted to paint it in a shade of blue or a purplish blue. Will it be bad to have this much water? If so, should I maybe try a green or something instead?

These are some considerations:- 1. Just imagine humans are not exactly homogeneous! 2. In the past, I mentioned: some of us can sleep like a pig; with mirrors all over our bedroom; but some feel very uncomfortable! 3. One of my main examples was: that in some Feng Shui books; it states that when we sleep; it is said that our spirit wakes up and if there is a mirror; it see's itself in the mirror and goes into shock! 4. I had also mentioned; what happened if the spirit is more extrovert? It likes to see itself in the mirror; to check if the hair is not in a mess. If so, the spirit would want to comb hair before flying off to meet one's friend. 5. Again it is like some of u…

Dear Phyllis, Thanks for proving a sketch of the layout of the bedroom. Although you have stated that the person sleeping here is Gua (Kua)5, there is no indication of a compass marking to show where the North direction is. As such, I have drawn a sample sketch. Thissketch also shows markings A and B. If we sleepin the directionfrom A to B (as shown in the attachment); this is known asa "coffin position" i.e. our legsshould not be facingthe bedroom door. Warmest Regards, Cecil Quote: Phyllis Lee wrote: Please advise a suitable location for the bed given such a layout (attached). Dear Sophia, A better alternative is to place a red dot on the same spot of both door handles. Here, it is symbolic of "seeing eye-to-eye" with each other. This is often a preferred method than using cupboards to block the doors. As this can result in poor air-circulation or dead qi collected in the bedroom. Warmest Regards, Cecil
