What turned out to be a "disaster" : being elderly unfriendly... at the end of the day; to the Management "who cares about the elderly"; whatever saves us money is the winner! Hahahahahaha! 4. Dear Anon, Please see below:- The best `cure' is to see if you can have a screen behind your bedroom door or place a linen cupboard before entering the door. A potted plant can be used but in my opinion less effective for a `C' configuration. However, you can try to see if can help. As you can always remove the plant afterwards. Another method is to place a semi-circular mat facing away from the bedroom door and `cutting' or `slicing' the steps of the staircase leading to the room. Do try the above out. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, You can place a semi-circular carpet radiating outwards of the door (facing the staircase.) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, I was doing research about the feng shui situation of my house but couldnt find specific information about my feng shui problem. On the 2nd storey of my house, I have a bedroom door that directly faces (but around 7m apart) a side/back door that leads to an outdoor laundry area. My question is, does this create bad feng shui for the bedroom occupant? I know two bedroom doors should not be directly facing each other and the main door should not be facing a back door, but i couldnt find anything about a bedroom door facing a back door. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: my bedroom door faces the bathroom door is this bad? if yes, do you know a cure for this one? Generally, where possible most people will want to avoid having a bedroom door faces a bedroom door. Unless you have the ability to alter the door position, then the only other practical advise is just to keep the toilet door closed when not in used. Anonymous wrote: what if the bedroom is above a garage? The only issue is that it is like there is a missing corner or no support if your bedroom is above the garage. But it isn't really that bad just that if you can avoid such a situation of course it would be better. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards…

Hi Master Cecil, I need another help with the current house plan. I kind of like the house, but noticed that bedroom 1 door is facing the hallway. What is your view on this plan? Or If I may ask, in your view what is the remedy I can do to the plan. I am still in my house hunting search and yet to find the right one. Thank you.

Hi, is it okay for the guest room door to face the door of the powder room? The guest room door is a camouflage door so it will look like one of the wall. The guest room is for my parents to come stay occasionally. Or can i move the guest room door a few centimetres to the right so it will not straight facing each other? If i can move it, how many centimetres at least is good? Thank you

  10. Dear Wendy, Please see below:- Yes, in Feng Shui, it is considered inauspcious to have the entrance open into stair cases. Here, the rationale is because, beneficial Qi that is suppose to come into the house, will be affected by e.g. the vortex of unsmooth flow e.g. such as the steps of the stairs. In your second question, it is more of "commonsense approach". Not so much of Feng Shui. For example, one worry is that when one walks out of the bedroom, although it may be highly unlikely, e.g. guests may not be aware and walk further and `fall' down. This may seem highly unlikely, but it may happen not in every home but it may just happen. What is more important is w…

Hi, Yes. It is preferred that the bedroom door not to be slanted as this is considered inauspicous for the couple. It should be like normal doors. As for the smaller door; the only way is to use a proper Feng Shui ruler, could measure it to see whether the length and breath are auspicious. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Manuel, Can I check with you what is the concern you have about your bedroom door facing NE. Under Feng Shui, often, our main concern has to do with the `mouth' of the house i.e. the main entrance door. But as for the bedroom door, it should be looked at in a holistic way i.e. the entire bedroom inclusive of the windows, and shape of the room/attached toilet? etc.. And with this information, we can then better work out the best placement of the bed. Warmest Regards Cecil

Dear Peck Wun, 1. Usually, it is good to have bedroom doors that are properly aligned i.e. good to have the doors:- 2. at a corner rather than at the centre of the room. Where the door opens unobstrusively into the room. 3. In my opinion, it is the general consensus amongst many FS practitioners that doors should not directly face each other. 4. Therefore, I share the same view that it is of secondary importance that two doors should face each other. The common consensus is that it would lead to arguments or friction between parties sleeping in each of the room. Therefore, it can be regarded as inauspicious. 5. If you are able to get or contact the author, try to check w…

Dear Anon, Thank you for drawing up the illustration. From what I can see, it is good that there is quite some distance between bedroom 1 and master bedroom. And from the sketch, it also looks like the master bedroom door is not directly aligned with bedroom 1 door. This is good. In my opinion, although, bedroom 1, 2 (with bathroom) and master bedroom are in the same corridor, because of the adequate space between e.g. bedroom 1 and masterbedroom and bedroom 1 and 2 doors also pose not much a threat here. Therefore, I personally feel that there is not much problem - here. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: I am moving into an apartment with a friend. Our bedroom doors directly face each other, and already am afraid conflicts may arise between us (regardless of layout). I have read there a placement of a windchime in-between is a solution to this, but does not seem practical, since we do not want to hear the noise from it. Are there any other solutions to this problem? Thank you. A common method is to use a red paint to dot the door handle of the two door. This way it helps to signify that the two occupants can hopefully see eye-to-eye. i believe this is the more practical solution that the windchime. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Robert Le…

Dear Robin, The information provided is too general, it is difficult to say what is causing the problem. Under Feng Shui, usually it can be analysed using a combination of: 1. Shapes and Form with regards to Yin and Yang concept. 2. Using the Flying Star theory to find out if the room is too Yin or has Yin factors. Usually, under the Flying Star, it would have to go at least further into the Flying Star of the day or time. The situation would arise if in the day/time at the specific sector has a relatively high concentration of Yin factors. But for a layman, it would be difficult to track all these. There are also other factors such as `Sleeping problems'. 2. In a recent…

Dear Anon, 1. There are two "angles" to look at the case where often, from the master-bedroom, we may see the toilet (toilet bowl). 2. In many apartments; be it a condominium or an HDB (government housing development board apartment or flat); in fact all master bedrooms have a detached-toilet. In some instances, we do not get to see the toilet as it may be closer to the bedroom door. 3. As mentioned under Para 1; there are two ways of looking at the "issue" or non-issue with the toilet:- 4. From a Shapes and Form point of view 4a. As you have mentioned, some people may feel uncomfortable seeing the toilet (toilet bowl) from their master-bed. Frankly, there is no…

Dear Anon, 1. Yes, it is preferred that the bedroom door is closed. 2. A plant may not be appropriate especially if the staircase is not large but just nice for one or two persons to walk past. 3. You can also try to use the Eight House chart to see if you can plan your bedroom i.e. to orientate your bed-head and work/study to a good facing direction. Warmest Regards, Cecil Anonymous wrote: Dear Master, My element is strong metal and my bedroom is located on the east. 24. Started by way,

Dear Chris, Priority should be given to sleeping in a good sector. Only after this is taken care, then it would be nice or a bonus to sleep with the head facing a good direction. If one is unable to sleep in a good sector, the `consolation' is to sleep facing a good direction. BUT, all these should be taken into consideration only after one has considered the Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. For example, it is best not to sleep on the same wall as the toilet bowl even if it is one of our good or excellent sectors. Feng Shui is a holistic approach and the bedroom should not be considered in isolation. It is more important to`fix' any problems associated in the house t…

  25. Dear Heather, 1. First priority is to try to place the bed in a good position based on Shapes and Form School of Feng Shui. 2. Here, where possible, the bedrest should have a good support and other considerations based on the above. I believe, there are already quite alot of resources on the proper placement of beds under Shapes and Form School. 3. Thus, one must remember that it is certainly `nice' to be able to place the bed in one of our good sectors but this may not be possible either due to the layout of the bedroom or even if we do so, all areas (sectors) of the bedroom may be in one of our bad sectors under the Eight House Theory. 4. My advise is to ensure that you…
