Hi, Would like to know if the property at the other side of the curve road, will this be considered bow and arrow? And if there are trees planted along the road, will this poison arrow be nullified? Example the Sunglade property at the Serangoon Ave 2 road which is curved. Please help to advice.

Dear Spring, 1. The next best alternative is to ensure that the tree is properly trimmed since you are unable to cut it down. 2. Trimming the tree would help to reduce the `floor area' of the tree `foot print'. By doing so, will ensure that that sector is no longer too yin. 3. Trees are actually Yang. But because of the shadow that it casts below, it can create a too yin environment especially at the frontage of the home. 4. I am not sure what the three symbols are. Usually, the most common of the three symbols are the Fu (Prosperity) Lu (Luck) Shou (Longevity) symbols. 5. You can view the following pictures under this URL to see if they are similar to your three symbols:…

Dear Anon, Let me explain: Usually the main concern is the main entrance door or a window. A good example is Evelyn Lip's story in one of her books Geomancy. She wrote that the owners of a house faced calamity and even a FS Master could not find the problem. Only at a later stage where the Master stood at the door and looked out (during low tide) and saw a profile or figurine that looks like a toad or frog with its mouth opened facing the house. Here, he placed some objects to symbolically represent flies to mean that the mouth is full. From what we can learn here is to avoid letting objects with open mouth e.g. face the main door if we can. It is better to take the pre…

Dear Anon, There is certainly truth in this practise. Thanks for pointing it out to everyone. The brass knob is akin to a convex surface which reflects out. In the past, before glass mirrors came out, brass `mirrors' were in use. This is another method of `deflecting' sha qi thou a `mild' form. What I mean by `mild' form is that it is considered a defensive method rather than offensive method. One can classify it as under the same category as the semi-circular carpet. Dear Anon, Feng Shui refers (in general) to the Earth Luck of a home. Feng Shui is about trying to increase the Earth Luck or trying to harmonise the home. Feng Shui thus cannot be done by `remote control'. For example, if one does not live in a particular house e.g. Smith Street, USA and say he/she resides in Trafagar Square, UK. His `earth luck' (the breadwinner's) would then be based on the house that of the home he currently resides i.e. Trafagar Square, UK. And not the house in Smith Street, USA. If the breadwinner stays in the UK. Then the person who earns the most and staying in Smith Street, USA; would instead be consider the breadwinner of this house. Warmest R…

Dear Anon, Frankly, looks like, in-order to replace the mirror it has to be prised /cracked to reply. Actually, I feel that: 1. Often, the first is based on "Common-sense approach". One reason why, it is not favourable to break the glass is because of splinters or shards of glass. Proper cleaning after the removal is OK. 2. Any since the glass is already chipped, so long as you are not the one removing it, I feel that this is OK. Where possible, or a more practical approach is to let the workmen remove-it while you do not see the activity. 3. Here, you are not the one breaking up the glass. 4. If you have not moved-in, yet, it is better! Do all this before your actual m…

Dear John, In my opinion, you can consider the (I believe) the beautiful brick facade as a decoration. It need not be `balanced' directly. You can try to make the apartment as cosy as possible to your taste. So far, I come across many homes with such beautiful facade and in my opinion do not pose any problems. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Leanora, I belive you are only doing a FS audit of your apartment. From my past experience, if you are just looking at your individual unit, it is best to take the reading to the main entrance door of your apartment. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  14. Hi, I like to add a few words on this subject:- 1. As most users here are aware, the tearing down of a building complex to turn it into a public park is a very Feng Shui move. If you can recall, the front of the house or office building should be " flat " ie. under the Four Symbolic Animal concept, the front is the `phoenix' which signifies it flies freely in open space. Similiarly, the Bright Hall is also called another term i.e. Ming Tang. Traditional practise, you will find a pool (not stagnant water) in front of the building. It is usually semi circular i.e. radiating away from the building. This is why sometimes, if you have a poision arrow aimed at your main entranc…

Dear Anon, A three-legged toad does not feature prominently in any traditional Feng Shui literature. In my opinion, it is a commercial product. I leave it to anyone to decide whether they feel this is true or not. Do note that there is no basis for it under Feng Shui. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Our stand for all time zone related is to use the local time of birth. This is because to factor in location, the only true way is to input the long. and lat. of birth. But that adds further degree of error and not everyone will record this information, so not practical to be used. So you should use the hour as in the hour when your son is born. Dear Nita, Frankly, this issue has more to do with maintenance or upkeep of the furniture (cupboard) than Feng Shui. Often, broken or nearly broken pieces could further fall off or splinter and this may not be safe. For example, pieces could fall off to the floor and one may accidentally step on it. If there is an issue in replacement, then, provided, also "uglyness" is not an issue, than, simple options are to purchase masking tape or scotch-tape to seal the sharp edges and hold the rest of the mirror together. Later on, than, see whether you can take your time to replace it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Raja, 1. Let me share with you my personal experience on laughing Buddha and all sorts of crystals... 2. I personally feel that these should be treated merely as decorative items. 3. Typically, in Singapore, especially those who are Chinese, mandarin educated, staying in three room apartments and some four room (government housing), do have such figurines in their homes. Often, they not only have one laughing buddha, but often even two, a coin bank or even the three-legged toad. Plus often, at least a fish tank. And often, they would have stayed in the home for more than 8 or more years with little progress. 4. Imagine, already, their flat is cluttered, adding more …

These are some of the considerations based on belief and symbolism:- 1. Only display the standard set of three. 2. If your replacement set is identical; then you can always throw away the other two and safe keep (in a store room or cabinet) the remaining one. 3. So far, I have yet to see someone display more than the required set of three.

Dear Anon, Perhaps, this could be a coincidence. Note: this is not Feng Shui, but is quite common activity for some Chinese that are truly down on their luck:- However, for the Chinese, some would prior to taking a bath:- 1. purchase a few limes. Cut the limes into 4 quarters. 2. purchased assorted flowers. get ready the above and place them in a small basin of luke warm water After bathing, just pour this water with lime/flowers over our head . Next, dry ourselves with bath rope. And collect the items and throw them away. Often, avoid going into the toilet for the next 2 hours or so. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Please see below:- By definition, brown (and green) belongs to the wood element. For example, oak, teak, american cherry wood (dark or light) etc.. belong to the wood element in lieu that their colour is brown. Where it comes to pine, it is still wood element but an experienced Feng Shui practitioner would ask their clients to avoid this type of material i.e. pine ( sold in IKEA ) as it resembles closer to `yellow' or earth element. Therefore, if in doubt, a FS practitioner would normally, try to advise their clients to go more for other popular wook grains such as teak and the popular cherry wood type of colour. 1. For most shapes, colour takes precede…
