These are some considerations: 1. A FLAT / APARTMENT This may be aa catch-22 question if it is an apartment or flat: as the facing direction can be interpreted in "many" ways: some geomancers say: stand inside the main door looking outwards; others the facing of the building or stack and/or the "face' is where the most yang energy comes in. If so, for an apartment: sometimes even the main door or front door may not necessarily be the facing direction. Thus, changing the main door may not be correct. 2. LANDED PROPERTY 2.1 For a landed property; in my opinion; majority of the time (especially in Singapore) where homes are back to back; it is highly unlikely that the "face"…

Dear Anon, Ideally, the favoured change is to have a "major renovation". For example, hacking away the entire flooring or some walls and/or change of main door, or windows is a sure way of `flying' to the new period. Other short cuts but these are subject to opinions by various practitioners: 1. Have major "yang" activity in a home. Here, what it means is that humanly, we have some yang activity such as celebration of birthdays or house warming where we invite lots of friends and relatives into the home. But this alone, often may not on it's own guarantee that the house fly into the new period. 2. Activity under Para 1 with repainting the entire ceiling of the home Here,…

  3. Started by glyn,

Dear Glyn, Usually, the most important consideration is when one is moving in i.e. the date one moves into the house is the most important date to `note'. For changing of the hot plates, some over zealous people, may look at the dates but, in my opinion, it is not that important. All these falls under `Chinese beliefs and customs' rather then FS. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Further to what I had mentioned, below; In previous replies to your messages, I have mentioned that you can search for dates in early 2004. Thus, in the attached two screens, one can see that if one used the ADVANCED SEARCH feature on this forum, one can do a SEARCH either on Key Words e.g. Period 8 and/or enter date-range. I can literally "chop-off-my-head" if one cannot find messages pertaining to Period 8 or how-to fly to period eight within the pages mentioned above. For example, simply enter date range of say 1 Dec 2003 to 1 Mar 2004 as shown in the attachment. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Please refer to my previous posting on the same subject of lion dance. In the past, the traditional lion dance was performed on the last day of lunar celebrations i.e. 15 Lunar day i.e. since CNY officially starts on 8 February 2005 this year; then 22 February 2005 is suppose to be the last day and lion dance performance. However, in modern times, and for practical purposes in my opinion, it is particularly good or meaningful to usher in the lunar new year especially on or before the 15th day of celebrations. This is to allow for the troupe to be able to perform at your home. If one lives in a landed property, the challenge is to hang a lettuce vegetable wi…

Dear Anon, In general, if an HDB precint has majority either North or South facing apartments, then if particuarly the male breadwinner is a West group person, may consider looking at especially if it is a Flying Star Period 8 South 2 and 3 apartments where there is particularly a double #8's at it's facing direction. If the apartment is a Period 8, South 1, then check that if possible the living room is at say North or the back of the apartment. A west group person can still benefit greatly from a South "facing" apartment. Frankly, usually changing the facing direction of a door has more to do with "PACIFYING" one's concern than effectively changing the qi. There …

Dear Janice, Please see below:- Yes, this is often good enough to fly to the next period. But we need to understand that at such an early stage i.e. where Period 7 has just slowly wane-down and Period 8 is still "climbing", it may still take at least up to 2005 to see an effect of such a change. Yes, your current strategy is considered sound, since I believe, this is what most practitioners would advise their clients to do (less the idea of having to do a major renovation). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Master Cecil, I live in a 2 storey terrace link house. My house is facing southeast 2 (main road) but my main door at the side which is facing northeast 2, I have the following doubts:- a. My main door is facing a wall sharing with my neighbour which is 7" apart, will this obstruct the chi coming in? By doing this, I can avoid our car to be drived towards our main door. b. My main door is still located in southeast sector even though it faces northeast. May I place a water features directly in front of the door (7" apart) to indirectly activate the water star #8 (resides in southeast sector in period 8) c. I was told that in order to change my house from period 7 to …

Dear Cecil, I thank you for your quick response. I did take note of your 2 sets of illustrations and the frontage of the lot and did understand that acceptable does not mean favorable. I was relieved when I tumbled to your website and to see the illustrations in your Chapter 10 - that narrower front/wider back w/ front house facing narrow front is not categorized as unfavorable like the one book I read. That book does make the distinction. It presents such a lot as unfavorable but it does draw a house sitting right along the narrow front ie. along the street. Would you please explain a little more on this frontage relation to the trapezoid (item 6.4 above of your reply) …

Dear Master Cecil: There is a sharp edge remotely pointing at the windows in the "back" of my house. This sharp edge does not fall inside the direct range of my house; nonetheless, I am able to see this sharp edge through windows. Does this sharp edge pose a threat to my house? Is a day curtain helpful in this situation? Regards, Jen

Dear Anon, Yes, this is true because of two reasons: 1. If the weather looks dark, some consider it inauspicious to a FS audit. Furthermore, if it rains, this is not the best time of day to do the audit. 2. Lighting strikes. It can be quite dangerous standing on a piece of land and one may even be strike by lighting. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: My main door is facing south and my apartment is not square, what is the best way I can fine the auspecious location to activate? By the way my apartment was completed in year 2000. It is really hard to advise without any layout to view what exactly you mean. However, for any of the odd shapes layout there are usually a few ways to apply feng shui:- 1. ie find the center influence of the entire layout, then treat those missing areas as missing sectors of the house or treat some of the sectors as a protrusion. 2. ie divide the layout into two portions to apply the feng shui. especially for L shaped apartments. You can find some example in…

Hi, My brother gave me a pair of white color Chi Lin (one with a ball and the otherwith a baby) for my house warming. I have been placing themin the house near the main door. However, they are placed on the same side of the wall of the main door (not facing the door) below a console table right beside my main door. I came to know later thatChi Lin should be placed near the door orwindow facing outwards. I am now concerned whether the placing of my Chi Lin is wrong. Please advise. Can you also clarify whether Tien Lu is similar to Pi Xiu and Pi Yao. Thanks!

Thanks Cecil, Frankly I also caught it by surprise at the shop and the bed layout fits very well to tap my boys best direction. The elder sleeping pointing to the west (below bed) and the youngest onto sleeping facing to the south, on the left and both have a strong support of the wall. And it save space too. The table below also good for my elder boy facing the west. Guess nothing is always perfect. Will hunt for the normal type instead. Hope this is good layout for discussion.

There are few considerations:- 1. Commonsense Feng Shui or literally speaking simply common-cowsense. 2. Sometimes the toilet bowl or wc shares the same wall as the wall of a bedroom. Here, a toilet does have sewerage pipes. It is due to this that it is not good to sleep NEXT to a sewerage pipe. E.g. sewer pipe embedded into the wall and one place one's face next to the opposite site of the wall. 3. Some don't like the bed too close to the toilet bowl. As if the lid is closed position; and if there are gaps in the seat; the micro-droplets will fly further and may even deposit onto the bed, bed-sheet etc... 4. The above are based more on cowsense right? 5. If none of these…
