Dear Maggie, Maggie Lua wrote: The direction of our house is South-West direction and is excellent for the breadwinner. We discovered that our children's bedrooms are in the Death sector. And one of these bedrooms' door is also facing the bathroom door. Is there anything that we can do about it? Eight House deals with suitability, there is unfortunately very little you can do to correct a suitability problem except:- 1. Move the child to another bedroom (if available) 2. At least ensure that the child is sleeping in the better direction (this can help offset some of the unsuitability to the room itself) 3. Correct other feng shui issues to reduce any further inauspicio…

    Started by Guest,

Dear Colleen, 1. The best way to enhance a house is not to `pay homage' to a few corners of a house. 2. Like an animal or a human being, it is never wise to `corner' someone at a corner. The human or animal becomes extremely threaten and can become `dangerous' or very dangerous. I mentioned this to illustrate how bad `CORNERS' can affect our lives. This is just an illustration. 3. In fact, if one wants to look at `corners' it is more fruitful to just simply look at it from Shapes and Form Feng Shui. Here, look out for `threats' to the main entrance door or windows. Check to see if the house and interior such as position of beds etc.. conform to good Shapes and Form. 4. T…

  3. Hi, In my country, we are not accustomed to keeping python, spiders and other snakes as pets. However, it would depend on the custom of a locality or country. Normally, such animals are not kept in a bedroom. There is no written document in the past on the above so looks like it is `new territory'. Overall, one can still apply the Yin and Yang concept and classify such animals and relate it to Yin and Yang. From the looks of the creatures, they are in my opinion generally considered Yang insects and reptiles. Here, one should have a balance between Yin and Yang. In the bedroom, again depending on who is sleeping there i.e. if it is a child, a more Yang environment is acc…

  6. Started by Boyles4,

Dear A B, Under traditional Feng Shui, many FS practitioners would recommend that the bedroom colours be in harmony with the element of the child. In addition, the bed should be placed in a favourable position. The study table should face the child's good direction. (All these come under the Eight House theory). The understanding of Yin and Yang concept is equally important. For the bedroom especially for an adult, the bedroom should normally be more `Yin' than yang. As this should be the place of rest for an adult. Unless the adult is taking up studies and staying e.g. in a dormitory. Where, there should be a balance between yin and yang. For a child's bedroom (who is g…

  7. Started by carinatien,

Dear Carina, 1. Where possible, it is better to have children sleep on as you mentioned, proper beds rather than on the floor. 2. Usually, it is still not as bad if the floor is paquet or wood flooring. This is because, tiles are cold and the belief is that it is better not to have them in the bedroom. Here, the main belief is that when one wakes up, when our feet touches the floor, it is best not to immediately step on `cold' tiles. A floor mat would do. 3. It is best that the toilet wall is not on the same wall as the toilet bowl. Where possible (weighing pros and cons), if safety is the concern than place the bed close to the wall. If the bed has side bars, the bed can…

Quote: Lee, it has been several months now, Thanks Lee for your response. I think I located a leak- the hood above my stove top burners had a fan that gave the option of sucking cooking heat up and out of my kitchen (an exhaust). Now I do not use it (I am cautious while cooking not to have to use it). I still have my small metal windchime above my burners and small mirrors reflected the burners. My finances are going smoothly now. Again, thanks for your advice on looking for a leak. HPS Enoch

Dear Anon, Please see below:- Usually, proper placement of e.g. wind chimes are done after a proper FS analysis has been done. Such as using Flying Star FS. Since, you are using the above tool, you have to:- 1. Examine.. what is your purpose of placing a wind chime? 2. Is it because you heard that placing a Wind Chime is good or suppose to be beneficial or is it because, you found a wind chime that you `love' and would like to place it in you home. 3. If you had found a wind chime that you quite like, usually, one would/may have a mental ideal (before the purchase) of where, one would like it to be placed in the home/room. If your case is similar to Para 3, usually on…

Dear Anon, Further to what I had mentioned earlier:- 1. Usually there is no major impact on the placement of metal wind chimes other finding a family member sleeping close to it could perhaps have nightmares. 2. It is the belief that nightmares are usually cased by playful imps, and in some cases cause nightmares especially if metal wind chimes are used (in the West, NW - which are the metal element sectors). Because, of the time element, where, if one place a wind chime at a particular sector, utimately there can be a situation where, there could be perhaps too much imbalance of the metal element at a sector... and it could cause the above. One can chart this out say us…

Dear Zan, For many years now, usually, you should be able to purchase the 2005 Chinese alamanac during the Chinese 7th Lunar month. Since this is often the time, the publication comes out of Hong Kong to Singapore. (Usually, you should be able to buy this 2005 alamanac from middle of August 2004 onwards. And once it is out, you can easily buy it from any HDB neighbourhood incense shop). If you can wait until then, no issue. Alternatively, you can check out our Auspicious date service:- http://www.geomancy.net/products/po-dates/po-dates.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Joan, 1. I will post one before the start of the dragon year. 2. Many couples yearn for the dragon year as it is considered (overall) an auspicious sign especially for babies especially for a son. The only `negative' point is that if the birth rate for that year increase, there is greater competition for places especially in schools. Some schools may hold larger classes or more selective. Contrast this to children born in the year of the tiger where usually, there are fewer babies born. The above observation is meant for countries with a high percentage of Chinese population. For example, in Singapore, 70 percent of the population is Chinese. Our birth rate is around…

  15. Dear Angelica, 1. The most common Chinese astrology or Zi Wei Dou Shu is generally based on one's Year of birth. 2. For compatibility purposes, if we use the Year of birth only; then it is quite general. In my opinion, one reading of one person may not be enough. Another element to take note is that of " auto-suggestion ". For example, if we found out that a "Horse person" or a person under the above sign is considered:- "A Dragon person is lively and full of vitality. They are determined and have lots of self-confidence. Dragons are strong fighters, follow own judgement and can take control and deal effectively with any problems. They are also admired but have few cl…

  17. Dear Anon, Generally, Chinese calligraphy usually either have auspicious words or phonetically auspicious words or words of wisdom. It is acceptable to place these calligraphy facing the bedroom door or on the hallway leading to the room. More commonly it is placed in the living room or on a wall, leading to the home from the entrance area. This is a belief that beneifical Qi can be `enhanced' when it comes into the home. (This is not Feng Shui but Chinese belief of some people). Under Chinese beliefs, plus in my opinion, one should not place the calligraphy facing the toilet door. Especially if the toilet bowl is visible. For the kitchen, it is uncommon to place it there…

Dear Anon, As mentioned in my earlier forum message, there is no advantage in displaying a Chinese coin sword. Unless, one wants to use it to offer protection - from e.g. the underworld or from ghosts or spirits. Keeping it in a drawer or wrapping it in e.g. newspaper and keeping is fine. Not necessary to `throw it away'. Displaying it without a purpose may inadvertently create family disputes or quarrels. A while back, I mentioned that it is also a disadvantage to display a pair of kirin inside or just outside the house. This will affect harmony in a family. For door guards, such as a pair of lions, it is still ok, so long as it faces outwards plus, it is plumb and prefe…

  20. Dear Tomas, In general, when we first open door; symbolically we want to "deposit" wealth into the new home or apartment. Start of renovations is often done. Here, the most simple procedure is to bring a hammer or a screw driver if we do not have the hammer and before starting renovations, usually say in mandarin " To all the gods, apologies, as I or we are starting renovations on ..... such a such a date." Afterwards, just knock three times on the floor or some on the wall. Usually Hokkiens practice more "simple procedures". Many Cantonese on the other hand, have the concept of 5-ghosts or spirits i.e. spirit or god of North, South, East, Wes…

  22. Dear Hoa Luong, Wishing You, your family and everyone in the forum: HEALTH, WEALTH AND HAPPINESS, ALWAYS! 1. Yes, I believe there is a reasonable explanation for this. 2. For example, let me illustrate using fruits. 3. Most of us know that both apples and oranges are fruits. 4. Similiarly Chinese Horoscope and Pillars of Destiny are considered as CHINESE DIVINITY methods. Thus both belong to the same family. 5. But, again, as all of us know, even if apples and oranges are fruits, but, they are not exactly the same fruit. Here, an orange is not equal to an apple. 6. The key to understanding this is that "Oranges are oranges but oranges ARE NOT APPLES". 7. Here, when we men…

Dear Marko, 1. One would rarely if ever find Chinese lanterns with symbols of `autumn' or `winter' as symbollically these are not suitable on Red Chinese Lanterns. 2. In fact, symbolism is important in Feng Shui and you can in-fact, use the globe Chinese lanterns (with spring and summer) all year round. And change them when their colour fade-out or their material worn out. Furthermore, red is considered an auspicious colour and can be used all-round the year. And it does not necessarily mean that during different seasons, one may have to change colour e.g. black or white = winter (colour). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: How does chinese lunar calendar works to select the gender of baby and how accurate it is? How can I calculate chinese lunar age? I presume here that you are refering to a chinese method of deducing the best date to give birth to a boy or a girl, right? If so, then I won't be able to tell you for sure. As this is a method passed down from previous generations, so it might have some logical deduction method. However, from what I heard from older generations who had tried it, is there is some degree of truth to the formula. So no harm trying it. Maybe the best way to know if it works or not is to try it. Hope that helps. Warmest Regards Rob…
