These are some of the considerations:- 1. The most important consideration is where does the true cardinal point of NW? In this example the true cardinal point is at purple marking "A". 2. While again in this example, the range of NW covers until the dotted line at purple marking "B". 3. Thus, the key consideration; is not just reading a few paragraphs and by default; it has to be this or that. 4. In this example, the NW is also close to the main entrance door area. So, for this attachment (I have blanked out many details) instead of placing "items" or colours; for this year, this owner simply when at home or after a rain; opens the main door to let good qi follow in. 5. …

Hi, The Peony in Mandarin is called Mu Dan. It was called the Queen of Flowers. In the " Book of Odes ", amorous youths and maidens give each other this flower. In very ancient times the flower was called Shu Yao. The Peony flower comes in various colours. But the most popular colour is red. White peony flower signify the young. Young girls with qualities of wit and beauty. In a folk song, it is said that when the peony blooms, its perfume smell spreads over a vast area and this attracts butterflies (which symbolises a young man.) While the peony flower represents the girl). Overall, a peony in a picture represents the season Spring. If it is pictured together with the h…

Master Lee, Thank you verymuch for the quick reply. You said draw 2 charts and analyze the history of the house, we bought the house on 2007, we move in 2007, so we donot really know the history of the house. As for the former owner, they are very successfull in life. Other thing is that, it seems their are ghost or spirit in my house. My son and my husband sees figures sometimes. Can you advise how can I cleanse my house. Regards, elsa

  4. Dear Kit Fong, Kit Fong wrote: Thank for your prompt response. Is the ba zhi and the kua no. the same? They are different concept. Kua (eight house) only assess your YEAR of birth (ie 1950). So it's accuracy is limited. However, though it is simple it's suitability analysis is still very useful. The Kua element will not be as accurate as the Ba Zi element. Ba Zi assess upto day and even time of birth (ie. 19Aug 1950 at7am). So this is more accurate for luck andelement determination. Hope that helps. Dear Master, Thank you very much for your reply. I am getting better now. About my flat, I don't understand and know how to find out the position as per your advise. Myflat main dooris facing Southwest (210 deg from center of my flat to the main door) at 9th floor. I think the facing of my main doorshouldn't consider the "mouth" of the house? Just perpendicular to this main door is a long stretch of window facing Northwest. Should this be considered as my flat facing (sitting Southeast facing Northwest) ? I have my house analysis in this web but just don't understand how to remedy please help. Regards, Jian Rong

  6. Please see attachment. This layout is preferred over the other one. As the bed is parallel to the bedroom walls. However, in a larger bedroom, your second alternative "slanting the bed" is practised by some Geomancers. Overall, do check that the toilet bowl particularly the piping is not sharing the same wall as your "face" when you sleep. There is a cause of concern of cancer in such a situation.

Dear Ann, Thank you for the information. Currently, it is difficult to know what is the actual cause. This is because, only a full audit and especially a site survey would be able to pin-point what is actually `wrong'. There are a few points: 1. Usually, due to time dimensions, unauspicious stars could have `flown' to that sector of the bedroom. 2. An indirect result could also be the clearing of trees. I am not suggesting anything but, if dogs become `noisy', without apparent reason, more observations may be required on this. 3. Do stand at the window, and see if there are any poison arrow aimed at the house. Especially, a lone lamp post which may now become prominent, b…

  8. Dear Peggy, Apologise for the late reply. As this message is sent anonymously it is not sent to the mailing list, and we do not login to the forum every other day. Depending on the situation. It is sometimes better to shift to a better room. It is ok for Feng Shui. Most importantly, your bedroom should in the room which is in your 4 good location. This would be better then staying in rooms which is not under your 4 good directions. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Yes. As long as the building has four walls and a roof up, a Feng Shui assessment can be done:- 1. Shapes and Form School to look at the exterior and interior can be used anytime even before the building is ready (particularly the exterior) or the site. 2. Under the compass School of Feng Shui once the house is up, you can do a survey i.e. using a normal compass. In Feng Shui, you should be staying `there' in order to enjoy the " good " Feng Shui. …

  10. Dear Joe, Although colours are of `secondary' importance in Feng Shui, from my own opinion, in the past, I `brushed' aside the notion of wearing colours that suits us. But looking back, I really find no harm in chosing clothes that suit a person. Like the saying goes " no harm playing it safe ". When I next shop for clothings, I will continue to buy shirts and trousers that suit me. In fact so far, my favourite colours since young turned out to be the colour that suits me. I personally believe that as white stands for the Metal element, it can also be considered a neutral colour. Therefore, for a person of Strong Metal element, in my opinion may continue to wear white or …

Dear Kathlee, It is only bad when placed in locations where there is inauspicious flying star (which will create more inauspicious influence). It is also bad for bedroom when the mirror can be seen when you are say lying on the bed or when you get out of the bed. This is partially due to the "shock" you may get when you first get up still not awake. Seeing an image of yourself can create a shock which is bad for yourself. Otherwise, having a mirror which is used say when dressing or inside the wardrobe hidden when not in used is not really an issue. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

Frankly this is pretty common, and it depends. In Singapore many estates have such a situation e.g. Siglap hill area, Hume Avenue, Yio Chu Kang, River Valley, Dunearn Road, Holland Rd areas. In fact, just about anywhere. Thus, many factors including how the home was built. In general, you are quite correct to say that earth luck (or poor luck) is usually strongest at the ground level.

  14. Frankly, in my opinion, having done many (many, many) audits over the years; homes that range from "Quantum Leap" in Feng Shui to even "average" Feng Shui homes can sustain "such so called inauspicious" circumstances. Thus, honesty, the saying goes: "It depends!" No two homes are the same. Some homes (landed properties)may have the same layout, size and design but they are never on the same foundation of a plot of land. Therefore, we should be looking at each INDIVIDUAL case, for fair comment on each of them. For example, in some past forum messages, even under the Flying Star Feng Shui, if there is a cluster of "Yin" Flying Star numbers in a sector, and if this bedr…

  15. 1. In my opinion, what comes first depends really on when one gets to know Feng Shui and applies it. 2. Thus, there are cases where many after understanding the concept of the Eight House and Flying Star, have sought to analyse a home, first before purchasing it. 3. Thus, if one has good knowlege of both concepts, many persons or by seeking help from a professional FS practitioner can help to identify which homes are better overall. 4. Thus your question sounds simplistic: " The chicken or the egg, first?" Instead of, going into a deep blackhole to "argue" whether the chicken came first or the egg? There is such thing as apply both concepts together! 5. Both the Gua …

  16. In general, as a balcony is above the ground and not on landed property, you can easily grow almost any plants that can bloom at the balcony. This is because, it is more important that you enjoy your little garden on the balcony then be constrained by what to plant. So long as the flowers continue to bloom, it is considered auspicious. For example, I have two plants on each side of my house balcony. Since the day I placed them, every day, you can see flowers on both plants. When my house was undergoing re-tiling, the plants we placed some other loation. They almost died. However, since they returned to the same location, they are continously booming. Go and see plants esp…

Dear Vivi, 1. My earlier comments are very general. 2. In my opinion, the statement has to do more with my personal preference. 3. Actually, black represents the water element. (Water element is either blue, black or grey). 4. In general, since water element does not increase or aid bad earth sickness elements. As compared to yellow or fire element. Especially yellow / beige. Particularly for houses under Period 7. And bedrooms are especially in the EAST. And in some layouts, South is equally inauspicious. 5. In my entire life, I have never used black pillows, therefore, have not considered using it in the future. Personally, I do not mind driving a black car, but, not us…

Hi, This is really not Feng Shui but based on " superstitious beliefs ". So far, in my personal opinion, I have on occassions also have dried flowers at home and to me, really do not pose any problems. Your second point of giving red flowers is based (I believe) on the `culture' that giving e.g. red roses represents a romantic senario. But I guess, it can equally symbolise `love' of the person or boss. It should be seen as a `gesture' and not so of bad luck. As a Chinese, we do not give a Clock e.g. during house warming or buy shoes for the person. This is considered bad luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Rebeca, There are a few considerations for a fish tank:- 1. Currently there are two methods at looking at the number of fishes to `rear'. Method 1: ======== The most common method is based on general good numbers of fish i.e. fishes should be numbering e.g. 5, 6, 8. (9 is still acceptable). Method 2: ======== The other method is based on your kua number ie. if your kua is Li or South, you should rear 9 fishes. If your Kua number is Kan (North), you should rear 1 fish, if your Kua number is Chen or East, then you should rear 3 fishes. Ideally, this is based on the breadwinner's Kua number 2. A good guideline is to take note of the colour of the stand you are using. Fo…

Dear Sophia, Please see below:- Many of us think in terms of enhancing wealth. But many of us do it literally the wrong way. For example, some people force themselves to maintain a fish tank even though this is not their hobby. Imagine, to some of these people, the toil of weekly cleaning the fish tank and other maintenance chores like feeding the fish. To a fish hobbist this is entirely different! To him or her, it is a pleasure to maintain their fish tank! It is the same senario. This "fool" was told that he has to cover his TV set each day before sleeping. And this really silly fool, adds to the sillyness of having to enslave himself with such unnecesary rout…

  24. Dear Saywew, With regards to the type of plants or trees: 1. In a NASA study, it was found that plants are good / effective. 2. As a general rule, you can plant any plants and ideally, the plant should continue to grow. If so, this is considered auspicious. At the front of the house, you should not however plant trees that can ultimately grow very huge as huge trees are not ideal for the front of the house especially since they will eventually block the Qi into the house. In many situations, one should avoid planting a single large tree on the front compound as this will create a very yin location. A conducive environment for Yin elements. Especially if the tree `expands'…

Normally, 6 ancient coins are used to `exhaust' a bad Five Earth element or to destroy the Wood. I can quite understand the Five coloured beads as these usually represent the Five elements. As for a small bell and the Five Chinese coins (minus the tassel - which is considered `insignificant'), I cannot really comment on these other than if one considers the number 5. Here, I believe, it is more a decorative piece to symbolise the number 5 rather than to represent 5 " Metal ". As a general guideline, if one do not know what to do with it, then avoid hanging it. As the saying goes better safe than sorry. Warmest Regards, Ceci Lee
