1. Graphic illustration of best working direction based on the Eight House can be found under this url link:- http://www.geomancy.net/reports/reports-list/perlist-workposition.htm However, this Eight House or Gua 1 (thing) is considere NICE-to have and not a MUST-have. Dear Niap Vun, Please see below:- The above is a stand method to usher in good luck to an office in the `Traditional' method. I am aware that not many people may want to practise the above especially if the office is situated in an open area (no privacy). And it can be rather inconvenient. Frankly, this is the only method. It is not possible to elaborate on Shapes & Form in a single message. But you may have to read more about it. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Hi, This is really not Feng Shui but based on " superstitious beliefs ". So far, in my personal opinion, I have on occassions also have dried flowers at home and to me, really do not pose any problems. Your second point of giving red flowers is based (I believe) on the `culture' that giving e.g. red roses represents a romantic senario. But I guess, it can equally symbolise `love' of the person or boss. It should be seen as a `gesture' and not so of bad luck. As a Chinese, we do not give a Clock e.g. during house warming or buy shoes for the person. This is considered bad luck. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Rebeca, There are a few considerations for a fish tank:- 1. Currently there are two methods at looking at the number of fishes to `rear'. Method 1: ======== The most common method is based on general good numbers of fish i.e. fishes should be numbering e.g. 5, 6, 8. (9 is still acceptable). Method 2: ======== The other method is based on your kua number ie. if your kua is Li or South, you should rear 9 fishes. If your Kua number is Kan (North), you should rear 1 fish, if your Kua number is Chen or East, then you should rear 3 fishes. Ideally, this is based on the breadwinner's Kua number 2. A good guideline is to take note of the colour of the stand you are using. Fo…

Dear Sophia, Please see below:- Many of us think in terms of enhancing wealth. But many of us do it literally the wrong way. For example, some people force themselves to maintain a fish tank even though this is not their hobby. Imagine, to some of these people, the toil of weekly cleaning the fish tank and other maintenance chores like feeding the fish. To a fish hobbist this is entirely different! To him or her, it is a pleasure to maintain their fish tank! It is the same senario. This "fool" was told that he has to cover his TV set each day before sleeping. And this really silly fool, adds to the sillyness of having to enslave himself with such unnecesary rout…

Dear Saywew, With regards to the type of plants or trees: 1. In a NASA study, it was found that plants are good / effective. 2. As a general rule, you can plant any plants and ideally, the plant should continue to grow. If so, this is considered auspicious. At the front of the house, you should not however plant trees that can ultimately grow very huge as huge trees are not ideal for the front of the house especially since they will eventually block the Qi into the house. In many situations, one should avoid planting a single large tree on the front compound as this will create a very yin location. A conducive environment for Yin elements. Especially if the tree `expands'…

I have considered those factors as wel: Well, the number of steps seems to be good - It's 10 steps, then LANDING, another 10 steps again, then 2nd floor. There are no open spaces between the stairs. There is no toilet and bathroom underneath the stairs The direction of the stairs is not facing the main door and not facing the toilet. The staircase is facing a wall.

Dear Maria, The main thing to remember is that if the house is already (for example, a period 7 house i.e. 1984 to 2003), it does not matter if renovation works is carried out, last year or next year as it will still have the Period 7 influence. In my opinion, there are many varied interpretations of what constitutes a missing corner. Some examples are: 1. You can apply the 33.3 percent ruleset where if a renovation is major only if it is equal or greater than say 33.3 percent of the floor area of the entire house interior. For example, if your house has a floor area of 1,000 sq. feet, then if there is a renovation that is equal or greater than 333 sq feet, can be consid…

Hello, I read with interest regarding the given situation for a students room. 1) According to Shapes and Form FS, is it acceptable for a study desk not to be immediately against a wall. 2) and is it acceptable for the study desk to be facing a large built in wall size wardrobe - with say one of the desks sides immediately adjacent against a wall? 3) is it also acceptable to place a study desk with the persons back if there is a bed and balcony doors direclty behind the desk 4) i've attached a sample diagram. your comments is kindly appreciated. Kind regards Scott

Dear Christina, Please see below:- Yes, from a business perspective, this makes economic sense and being new, is equally attractive senario. There are 2 units Under Flying Star FS, the facing directions for NW1, NW2 and NW3 is particularly (good) proposition. While for SE sitting or facing is still pretty attractive. In my opinion, this unit may seem less attractive if (in particular, IF neighbouring roof-tops seems to slice or cut into the unit. But, this is correctable. In particular, as you have not mentioned how much "tinting" is on the windows, if the windows are well tinted, or looks like reflective glass from outside, this is often not a major issue. I…

Dear Lien, If you want to place a Fu Fu dog, you should place it on top of each pillar of the main gate. They should be facing outwards and not facing each other. It has more to do with `frequent' Chinese practises than Feng Shui i.e. it serves to `guard' the house rather than the concept of Feng Shui i.e. to improve Qi. In my opinion, if one wants to place a pair of Fu Fu dogs closer to the home e.g. outside the main entrance door, it is best that you should do some "homework" or review the location in relation to the Flying Star theory. This will depend on the material used for the Fu Fu dog. Usually they are made of `earth' or alternatively `metal' element. Make sure t…

1. If possible, don't see the sharp tip of the dome - slicing into any of the bedrooms especially the living room "view". Anonymous wrote: The masterbedroom window will be able to see the mosque if you look dwon from the 10th floor. In addition, the sleeping direction of the bed frame will be pointing towards the mosque. 2. Thus from a Shapes and Forms Feng Shui point of view:- 2.1 So long as the pointed dome roof is not in full view (same level as) of an opening e.g. bedroom window or living room, then this is acceptable. 2.2 Some temples are "unclean" as sometimes, a local priest may get it's permission to bring in "spirits" or some of the temples even go as far as …

1. Snakes is prominent as one of the 12 creatures of the Chinese Zodiac sign. 2. Chinese myths both deplict it as both good and bad. 3. For many us, we sprinkle sulfur powder to deter snakes. Since your apartment is in the basement; it is a tendency of snakes to like cooler areas. 4. Perhaps, do get pest control people to help you deal with it. Julie G. wrote: Hi - I live in a basement apartment of a nice old 2-story home in verygood shape. Dear "UnKnown", 1. Usually, the placement of a water positions at certain locations, need further analysis (if possible). 2. Placing a water position can be analysed under: 2.1 Is there a poison arrow? As mentioned in previous messages, Hong Kong Feng Shui practitioners have a `habit' of advising their clients to place a fish tank e.g. at a window to counteract a poison arrow or Sha Qi of e.g. a lone lamp post. This is to neutralise the Sha Qi. 2.2 To `activate' water star or enhance Qi. Such as the use of fountains or water positions. Here, some Feng Shui practitioners either:- - Use their `feelings' to suggest a location. (Closer to the Shapes and Form School) - Others …

Hi, It is acceptable to have a coin in the mouth and this signifies a " close mouth. " As for the dragon figurine(s):- 1. The Dragon is considered the most Yang of all animals. 2. If one's main door falls under an inauspicious sector of the Eight House one can still use a pair of Dragons (one is still ok) aimed at the main door). 3. Where possible avoid using a Five Claw dragon as it is too yang for the home. It is best to use a four claw dragon. 4. So far, a dragon with an open mouth is acceptable. In fact most of the dragons have open mouth for them to `shoot' fire. Contrast this is a hungry tiger figurine which is inauspicious. Warmest Regards, Cecil Lee

Dear Donna, 1. Yes, based on your description, this is indeed a threat to your home. The test is to stand inside the house looking out of the main door. If you can see the threat coming, then it is a threat or poison arrow. 2. If there is a small roof or rain shelter at the frontage of your house you can use a 6 rod metal wind chime to neutralise it. Since most roofs are constructed with wood. And under the five elements concept: Metal can destroy wealth. 3. Alternatively, in the east or Far East, Ba Gua mirror is often placed above the main door to serve as a protection from these. You can do a SEARCH for the various types. Or go to the conference: Photo Tours of Interes…

Dear Anon, 1. A lot of people face difficulties when their desk is in front of a window with a beautiful sea view behind them. Choosing a low or back cabinet, if possible, is usually the best solution. 2. Another option is to position the desk in a way that allows for proper support, like against a wall, while facing a more favorable direction. 3. It's better to sit in this setup rather than having your back against a door or other less fortunate locations. 4. In these situations, one might have to consider other factors like luck, especially the Feng Shui of the home. Warmest Regards, Cecil +++ In Summary When setting up a de…
