Dear Weimin, Weimin Tu wrote: hi there =) im 17 this year and i have 2 small fish tanks in my room by the window. Well, i heard from people that having a fish tank in the room is not good for feng shui. are they right? because i like my fishes and i don't know where elseto place them. Not advisable. As in the previous post, the bedroom is should be quiet. The more scientific reason would be the water in the fish tank tends to have a certain type of fishy smell, plus depending on the fish some fish may make noise so that is becomes noisy. These two will not be good for a good nice rest. As such, fish tank is best place in non-bedroom (it study room ok but not bedroom fo…

Is it alright to hang it on a wall that faces the side of the Goddess of Mercy that I have on an altar and the photo also faces the storeroom? A family photo is a private and personal. It is often kept in your family album where possible. Even if you wish to blow up a picture to hang in your home, you also want to keep in private, so really the best location to place such family photo is in the privacy of your study room or even hall way for example. Small photos on table or desk etc is perfectly fine, but big photos that are hung say in the livin…

As I understand it a mirror in the bedroom is also bad because of the energyflow it may reflect on to the bed while you are sleeping. This I have gotten from master Lam Kam Chuen?s books witch almost i my only source of feng shui knowledge. While the chi energy flow is hard to prove it exist its the closest to a scientific explanation i know (I look quite scientific on feng shui myself).

Dear Nancy, Thanks for your kind words. In my opinion, majority of us do not really need " Feng Shui ". (Take the case of the less fortunate). In fact, many of us are able to have a happy and wholesome life. It is what makes us special:) Usually, in today's world, questions asked are: If one is often sick quite often or face severe hardships or `calamity', could use proper FS investigations to look into what's wrong. Thus, it is always my belief that if it `ain't broken don't fix it. Many of us are able to use our `sixth sense' or even `accomodate' ourselves i.e. blend in with our surroundings .... Warmest Regards, and have a happy life:) Cecil

Hi, Please read below:- Normally the best way is to put a partition, if not, I think you should just leave it. Although there are books that say that either putting a bagua should help to reflect it, I feel that a partition is better otherwise you are better off leaving it alone. Warmest Regards Robert Lee

These are some of the considerations:- 1. The concept of : "If it ain't broken, don't fix-it!". 1.1. The idea is that if one generally doing fine; and has been staying in an existing home; and only due to one's itchy fingers; got advise to move the bed; 1.2. If so, leave it as it is. 2. Sleeping under the "coffin" position concept. 2.1. Please see attachment: coffin position.gif (Illustration of a typical "coffin position") 3.Frankly, I often just scan thru lots of text like yours - (faintest) idea about your bedroom arrangement. Dear Ben, Thanks for the recent photos. Overall, a Bagua (Pakua) mirror above the window should be ok since you are unable to implement the rest of the other cures. It should be able to neutralise the sha qi. (It would nice to have more - but OK.) The skylight in the middle is acceptable. In fact many of the older Chinese houses do have skylight coming in to the middle court yard. However, if it would not be acceptable if there is a tree exactly in the middle of the court yard. As in one of the recent mail, I mentioned that it is inauspicous to do so. Ideally, the staircase, should be avoided at exactly the centrepoint - and also it should have one or two or more tur…

Usually, when standing at where you took the photo; it should be directly facing the location. Here; it seems more like to the left side ofthe"location". Thus, definitely not a threat. 3. From a broader perspective; some may consider a "threat" as what I had mentioned under Para 2: where it is directly facing the "location". 4. Frankly, there are other considerations like the distance. Thus; the distance of thebuilding is consideredquite a distance away. 5.For example; thePetronas Twin-Tower. This building is so tall and"…

    1. Under symbolism, in Feng Shui, some geomancers felt that placing "living" things in the bedroom is not a good idea. 2. To them, "living things" including plants and flowers are considered yang. 3. And a bedroom is for rest = more yin condition. 4. Thus some geomancers are not in favour of having even a bouquet of flowers in the bedroom. 5. The above is based strictly on the idea of symbolism. 6. As there are three kinds of luck:- 6.1 Heaven luck (born with - Ba Zi) 6.2 Earth Luck (Feng Shui) 6.3 Human or man luck factors (own feelings) 6.4 all three equally divided gives 33.3 percent each of luck. 7. Dear Christina As mentioned in the earlier e-mail; sometimes we may need to move out especially if the house is not as suitable to the breadwinners. However, we try not to comment further. A competent FS practitioner can usually help to identify the situation. If it is due to some things that can be corrected, then, it may help. As no two situations are alike; it is hard for me to mentioned it. I can recall, situations where; if it is really due to the location and `normal' FS is unable to "cure or correct this "; especially in situations where people face real situations of financial problems. In this situation, they are prepared to `swallow' the bitter pill such as sel…

    1. If the view from the main door is that of the staircase "flowing" downwards, this is inauspicious. As it is symbolic of wealth flowing our and downwards. But if the view is of an "upwards" staircase, this is still acceptable. 2. The most transparent "cure" is the use of grille gates "that have some reflective surface". For example, some people use stainless steel grille gates that have a reflective surface. Or plastic perspex sheet at the lower part of the grill gate (to block cats and dogs from coming in or going out of the house). As the same time, because of the reflective properties of the plastic (perspex) sheet, it acts like a mirror. This is provided that one's…

These are some considerations: 1. Symbolism. 1.1. The rationale why LAUGHING buddhas are very popular is the "SMILE" on it's face. 1.2. The idea here is that when we see "someone smiling" it is suppose to makeus feel"happy". 1.3. Thus, it also indirectly may affect someone's psychology in some way: This is why many Chinese place the laughing buddha looking towards the entrance of the home. 2. Even for many Chinese, the laughing buddha should not be taken seriously. Therefore, it does not have any association with religion nor considered a religious artifact. 2.1. Therefore, even for many Chinese; they consider it close to a "decorative" item. 3. After understanding the ab…

These are additional considerations:- 1. Earth luck is strongest on the ground. Thus for a landed property, the sitting and facing direction is much easier to get correct: unless the land is complicated by e.g. the back of the home faces a beautiful lake etc... 2. But if your "potential house" is really not a landed property but a so called high rise; What makes one think that you can get the facing direction 100 percent correct? Even amongst geomancers; can't agree with the sitting and facing direction. 3. As mentioned under Para 2; G.I.G.O. If one feels that facing direction is West but instead the real facing direction is another facing direction.... 4. Facing west si…

Frankly, all these have to do with personal believes than Feng Shui. In my opinion, it is best not to be too concerned with "other people's logo" especially since one does not have full control over it. If one really fancies a car, then based on ba zi; could go for one's favourable colour(s) for the car. For example in a conscripted army like Singapore uniforms: green = army white = navy blue = air force If a person is a strong wood person. Can this person requests to go into the navy (white) instead as green is considered inauspicious? What you mentioned, therefore is utopian way of thinking. Then there will be others who will say: THREE pointed stars (Mercedes) logo i…

  20. Hi, Recently, I read in the local newspapers that living too close to hight tension wires are not adviseable. However, rougly from what you have wrote, I guess the high tension poles/wires are quite far away. The recent article mentioned the higher incidence of `cancer' living too close to the high tension wires. If it quite far away, it usually do not pose any `threat' to your dinning room windows. In my personal opinion, if it is more than 600 metres away is still acceptable. If there are trees planted between the high tension poles and your home much the better. Let me share with you one of the Traditional Feng Shui Theories called " Penmanship ". In the past, many Chi…

These are some considerations: 1. A FLAT / APARTMENT This may be aa catch-22 question if it is an apartment or flat: as the facing direction can be interpreted in "many" ways: some geomancers say: stand inside the main door looking outwards; others the facing of the building or stack and/or the "face' is where the most yang energy comes in. If so, for an apartment: sometimes even the main door or front door may not necessarily be the facing direction. Thus, changing the main door may not be correct. 2. LANDED PROPERTY 2.1 For a landed property; in my opinion; majority of the time (especially in Singapore) where homes are back to back; it is highly unlikely that the "face"…

Dear Anon, Robert Quote: Son - weak water - Wood house not too favourable as it weakens him. Anonymous wrote: Is it alright if my son's bedroom is in the SW sector of the house? Under the bazi and direction suitability, South-West is considered Earth direction which is wealth to a water person. If your son isStrong Water person, he will most definately benefit from it. However, since your son is a weak water, he will need more Metal and Water to strengthen his weak water before he can benefit from the wealth sector. Of course, you should check out whether the Eight House direction is suitable or not, as long as that is also not death or disaster. Should be acceptable. …

  23. In my opinion: 1. I personally feel that even in exactly the same career; it can differ in element. Why? 2. It has more to do with the individual who takes on with the job. 3. For example: I would interpret Singapore's First Prime Minister job function as more to do with Wood element. While Singapore's current or 3rd Prime Minister more of a water element. 4. Why? 5. The First Prime Minister is in my opinion, full of vision and although all Prime Ministers are orchestra conductors; the first PM is able to fully make use of his team: and make substantial growth of the country = Wood element. And on occassions, make tough decisions = Fire element. 6. The current 3rd Prime M…

Dear Forum Users, Usually, under conditions of YIN, there may be " playfull imps " or spirits. They usually mean no harm to anyone but can bad cause "nightmares." Medium sized to large trees plus additional things like a wind chime may increase the YIN at such locations and attract such playfull imps to be around. Too many concentration of trees are considered a too YIN environment. For the benefit of new members here, my next door neighbour's bungalow has at least a minimum of 5 or more wind chimes located at the West or YIN location. This means that the likelyhood that one can get `mental problems'. True enough, this next door neighbour always carry around a video camer…
