An interest article. In Singapore where the vast majority are Chinese, many hindus (Indians) also have the opinion that dark colours e.g. black is considered inauspicious. In fact on the contrary, for the Hindus, black is a favourable colour; just that many are not aware of it. And perhaps, assume that just because the Chinese associate black with "death" or "gloom"; they chose to do the same...

1. To the Cantonese (dialect group) of the Chinese, the number 4 sounds like "death" in Cantonese. And anything with 4 or double 4 or even triple 4 is considered inauspicious. 2. Thus, this is not Feng Shui; but rather, the phonetic sound like "death". And homes or apartments that have this number would be considered as inauspicious thus may affect the future re-sale value of this apartment.

Further to what I had mentioned:- 1. The Chinese culture of considering e.g. red as an auspicious colour; white usually associated with death... Has nothing to do with say in the name of "Feng Shui". 2. In addition, all the information provided under this link:- http://www.geomancy.net/info/ For example, all the procedures listed below has to do with Chinese culture and believes by various dialect groups: Cantonese, Hokkiens, Teochews etc.. 1. In my opinion, most of us don't feel comfortable with pests coming into our homes.. especially since they are suddenly attracted to your home. 2. A few months ago, a client who went to my one of my talks, call me to her home to do a Feng Shui. She was equally concerned as her home is always "plagued" with cochroaches! And she asked, why? 3. Her situation certainly would be different from yours, as her apartment is right above a typical Chinese coffee-shop. And she mentioned cockroaches are more prevalent in the day and afternoon. 4. Here, what I believed was that, during day-time when the coffee shop is operating, it can be very warm, uncomfortable (heat) from cooki…

Question: My dad has just passed away. I don't want to wait 1 year or 3 years (depending on individual family practises), later to get married. What is the earliest date to get married? Answer: If you want to continue with a waiting period of less than 1 year, than the wedding has to held within 100 days of the passing. Once 100 days has past, you must wait at least 1 year or more which is usually the mourning period. The duration(ie 1 year or 3 years) of the passing of a parentdepends on the individual family or clantraditional practice. Some families insist that the marriage cannot be held within 3 years of the passing of a parent. While others feel 1 or 2 years is ad…

Under symbolism in Feng Shui, if possible try to avoid a bed-head feature wall that seems to "split" the bed in the middle. In the photos, for example, one can see the dark brown feature wall with a VERTICAL line that looks like that cuts directly into the "centre" of the bed....

1. Before, I go into your question; there are also two "types" of Feng Shui. If we can generalise; there is the "White" Feng Shui and "Black" Feng Shui. 2. In Singapore, look at the area especially bordering Beach Road to Shenton Way; "Black" Feng Shui actually refers to buildings that try to "suck" wealth from neighbouring buildings. For example, The Gateway isa major concern as till today, there are lots of reports of hauntings especially "triangle" units or points in this building. 3. In the past, and even in the future or near future, some developers engage overseas Feng Shui practitioners, and these practitioners study that "current" period's landscape and advise …

1. In my opinion, scientifically, so long as the "disease" is not contagious - spread thru air, then frankly, there is no scientific basis other than what you had mentioned based more on a "taboo". 2. It makes more sense to say to that it would be most likely the concern that such impressions or a sudden situation e.g. someone having a heart problem or in some cases, some people "foam thru their" mouth prior to death. 3. Thus, we do not inadvertenly want to "scar" someone so young with such "a horrible" - painful situation endured by others. 4. stand by dentures all these are merely "old folk" theories, that's all. 1. As mentioned previously, there is no perfect home. 2. The only way to maximize is : 2.1 If literally, "there is a brick wall blocking us, no matter how hard we bang our head against this wall, this wall will not collapse." 2.2 For certain issues or concerns and if we cannot change our environment; we may have to maximize beneifits from elsewhere. For example, fix other leaks in the home. 2.3 The common problem with many people is that instead of fixing this orOTHER leaks, they may be swayed into believing to purchase lots of products - which benefit mostly the seller. 3. Thus, inpast messages, I feel that we should try to maximize our total score much like taki…

Dear Anon, So far, so long as the specific site has properly converted mother's western date of birth to lunar calendar, you can then use it to "predict" a baby's gender. However, there is a question mark - personally have not fully reviewed the accuracy of the model as to whether there is a need to further fine-tune your date and time of birth towards Beijing time or not. In such a situation; could result in either baby being considered as a boy or girl. Thus the two major considerations are: 1. Convertmother's date of birth to lunar. 2. Have to guess whether or not to fine-tuneone's date of birth. If so, again there are so many variations. As it is not so simple…

Dear Fong Li, Fong Li wrote: i would like to know that if the apartment balcony side view is railways is it good or bad feng shui?last time i stayed in house near railways and i think the feng shui not so good but that previous house also have many bad feng shui thing.therefore i not sure whether railways do have anything to do with feng shui. Generally, railways can pretty much be a sha qi depending on how the track cuts into the house. Even if it does not cut into the house, the common sense approach is that trains tend to be noisy. So noise is also another form of sha qi. So either way, if a railway track is too closed, then yes it isn't that ideal. Especially if yo…

Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Please further advise how we can neutralise the sector with metal elements. Does sleeping on brass bed frames help? Thanks. Given, I have no idea what the overall influence in that room unless a detailed analysis is done. Here are some guide:- 1)The best Metal cure is to keep the room walls white (which is metal element). 2) Avoid Earth (bright yellow) or Fire (bright red) to avoid activating the star 2/5. 3) Where you cannot use colour scheme to correct theroom, then you may have to consider the 6 coins cure toexhaust the metal. 4) Amodern way to replace the 6 coinsis to use a HEPA air cleaner. Dear Jessica, 1. It is challenging to provide a comprehensive comment on apartments, as each one is unique. 2. Based on my experience with Feng Shui, I have observed that the layout of an apartment can impact the dynamics of a marriage. 3. Flying Star Feng Shui can be used to identify and address potential issues that may lead to divorce. 4. Certain factors, such as the placement of the main entrance door and the presence of star #3, can contribute to marital problems. 5. Star #3, known as the "quarrels and scandal" star, should be addressed by avoiding water features and using specific colors in certain areas of the apartment. 6. Misplacemen…

The most auspicious date for me to start renovation is 27th July thus that will be 3rd day of the 7th month. And if I chose earlier date (b4 the 7th month)to start the renovation work which ismix blessing for me and for my husband is not auspiciousthen which of the date should I follow. Another question is my husband is not living there in Singapore, he will probably be there not more than 3 times in a year. Should I take his ba-zhiinto consideration? Thank you once again for your time and help.

Dear Rachel, Rachel Low wrote: Can i know how to calculate lunar age correctly? Example: My birthday is on 28th April 1985. Is my lunar age 22 now? Or it is after my birthday then i can be considered 22? The accurate way is to to take count the passing of each birthday. We calculate the birth date from the date of birth to your next birthdate. Just similiar to how you calculate your western birth date. If based on that you are considered to be age 20 until you pass your birthday. If you count based on your lunar birthday, you will be 21 on 6 Apr 2006. Whereas, you will be 21 on 28 Apr 1985 if you take the western calendar. So since this based o…

Hi! The unit that we are eyeing for transfer is located at the Ground Floor of a condominium building. It is the first unit of the building and it's supposed garden/courtyard is facing the road of the village and the unit is lower than the level of the road. Is there anything we need to consider when we transfer? Our target dates would be between Oct 28-30, 2005. Thanks!

Dear Sir, I came across your website and find it very interesting. I have just learned from a relative of mine that it is a good Chinese Taboo to throw a brand new scissor into the house when we enter into an empty house to drive away bad luck and spirit. After which, to discard the scissors away. I find it rather amusing and doubtful after I have read your forum on advice about on MOVING INTO EMPTY HOUSE. Can you help by sharing with me your knowledge and experience about such practice? Have youcome across such Chinese taboo in moving into empty house? Appreciate your helpgreatly. Thanks. TANKK
