Dear ANON: No, it's not true. I have 2 wealth elements and 3 intelligence elements and I'm neither a celebrity nor famous. I would think it really depends on the entire structure of your four pillars and the way you were brought up. It's like if your chart indicates you have the talent to become a painter but if you were never given a brush when you were a kid, then you'll never become a rich and famous painter.

Dear Anon, 1. The proper Chinese `cure' is symbolic and if was done the first time e.g. when one was born and found to be having too much Fire, the symbolic thing to do is to be given a name with `Water' to balance the person. 2. Theoritically you are correct to say that one should `embrance' water but this is not the correct method of applying Pillars of Destiny. We should instead use symbolic items to represent ourselves. Like a person's name, for example, with additional of a `water' in his her, name, this is a symbolic representation and not `physical' representation. 3. Likewise, one cannot or must never `play' with the human anatomy in any way. Or subject ourselves …

Dear Dylan, It is best to look at it in relation to a Quantum Leap. For example, some people are born lucky and given a silver spoon. In Pillars, one can roughly categorise one's luck into: - Born with a silver spoon - Average life (Must constantly work hard) - born to `suffer' In the above, one can thus see the three classifications above. As the Chinese pay importance to: Destiny, Luck, Feng Shui Feng Shui is all about trying to `topple' the balance and since Feng Shui is earth based, it can be considered our `Earthly Luck'. So, what may offset the balance is `Luck'. This is why, some people, through their earthly luck prospher. This is why, many people, go into Feng …

Dear Anon, 1. Thank you for your information. 2. Currently, we have quite alot of real cases that we are helping out. Many of them are not `seen' because we are helping out privately. We would like to do case studies but currently, I hope you understand, helping those in need is more crucial at this stage. 3. For now, we have to hold back your present request. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Most of us are familar with Flying Star Feng Shui. If there is an imbalance, we can try to neutralise it. Here, the sector of the house `wears' an element to neutralise a sector. 2. Each of us also need a balance in our elements. This is why Pillars of Destiny or Ba Zhi is used to break down all our elements and find out our birth element and its strength. What do `wearing' our favourable element means? Here, I have given an example where, when a child is born, a geomancer is consulted. For example, I have mentioned that when my grandfather, consulted a geomancer, my elder brother was found to lack `water'. Thus his name has a character of "water" in it i.e…

Dear Dylan, Please see below:- Being earth, becomes more a supporting strength. But does not take into consideration based on the strength of the element. In Spring, Wood is strongest. Thus in Spring, it destroys `earth'. Thus weaking earth element. Glad that you enjoyed the website:) Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Dylan, 1. For females, whether the child birth is `easy' or `difficult' birth. 2. For determing the number of children, it is based on several factors, and analysed/compared to the male person's chart. 3. Nowadays, less importance is placed on this area as there is a great leap in medical enhancement e.g. artificial inception etc.. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Dylan, 1. The main purpose of the new report with 6 pillars is because, the two houses: Houses of conception and life are important elements in each of our Pillars of Destiny. Why a `6 pillars report' instead of 4 pillars? 2. In the past, there were more than 6 pillars. There were reports with 8 pillars. However, 8 pillars reports are no longer popular because the other two pillars relate to Yin or the dead. 3. Chances of analysing triple combination clashes are nearly non-existent with only 4 pillars. Where else, with 6 pillars (with 12 combinations of branches/stems) the likelyhood of finding out the triple combinations. 4. One's element may change from weak to str…

Dear Jezamine, 1. Under Pillars of Destiny, one should look at the final element. This `final element' is based on the analysis of all your elements to come up with the main element that you are. And either weak or strong. 2. An analysis would have taken care of whether you lack wood or water. It may not necessary be the element you are lacking but like you mentioned, it may e.g. be other element. 3. It is best to determine the proper element and strength rather than make a guess as there is a difference between e.g. weak fire or strong fire. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Pei Yee, 1. This is based on another aspect of Pillars of Destiny Theory i.e. Follow the Leader Theory. This is a different aspect of Pillars. This is useful, only in very rare situations when certain ruleset fulfils. Where one follows the Follow the Leader Theory or Missing element concept. Other than this, your default cure is still based on the Five Elements. This is the basic fundamental for all Feng Shui theories. 2. Essentially, you still need to follow the Five Elements Concept. Where one needs to seek a balance. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Pei Yee, 1. There are a few references on this site, somewhere that shows clearly why Lunar Calendar Method should be used instead of Xia (Hsia) Calendar. 2. Both methods will give the same results most of the time. However, the Hsia has an inherent flaw, it is unable to `see' a blind month or we call it an intercalary month. In Chinese Lunar Calendar, there are frequently years where there are double months e.g. Two 1st month, 2nd month etc... In such a situation, there is no way the Hsia calendar or (Xia Li) calendar can detect this. Because of this, the calculation using the Hsia calendar goes `off' for those whose birthday ie. month pillar is out. The traditional…

Dear Cheui May, One method is the `type' of house. For example, under the Eight House Theory, each direction has a specific compass direction. For example, North represents Water and generally, this type of house is a `Water' house. Nowadays, this is infact `incorporated' under the analysis e.g. Eight House and less meaningful today. This is also because the centrepoint of the house is the Earth element. It is more important to consider: 1. Your element and strenght 2. the Flying Star of the house 3. Shapes and Form 4. How suitable are you to the house (Eight House). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. Yes, if there are two 5th months, both months are treated `like' two 5th months. However, in modern times, one would only celebrate the Lunar bithday once or other festivities. For example, if the Dragon Boat festival falls on two intercalary months, usually the `FIRST' occassion is celebrated. Although, one can celebrate the two dates are they are equally considered the same month. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Jack, Yes, for greater accuracy you should consider yourself a `Strong Wood' person. The ver 8 pillars, takes into consideration two more pillars (Life pillars) i.e. House of Conception and House of Life. With the two more pillars, there are 4 more variables (two more stems and two more branches). In the past, there are additional pillars both cater to Yin Feng Shui but is not added here because it no longer is relevant to us. In many cases, usually ver 7 will be similar to ver 8. But the normal pillars ( ver 7) based on Year, Month, Day and Time of birth will provide : 4 stems + 4 branches = a total of 8 variables. With only this 8 variables, the probability of `…

Dear Benard, 1. The saying goes: "A little knowledge is always a dangerous thing." 2. One must remember that most Chinese are only familar with Chinese Astrology. 3. Not only this but all Chinese Astrology books relate a person's "element" simply to their YEAR of birth. 4. So, you are correct to say that your YEAR of birth is the FIRE HORSE. 5. But, under Pillars of Destiny, this is no longer the case. 6. As most of us are aware, Pillars of Destiny looks at our Year, Month, Day and Time of birth. 7. The most important pillar that is highlighted is the Day of birth. In your case, since your DAY of birth is " Geng " or Metal, Pillars of Destiny analysis thus consider your…

Dear Elena, 1. This is a relatively new area for `western' names. 2. For the Chinese, this is easy as "Geomancy of finding a Name" is in place and as mentioned in a recent earlier message, there are three main Methods of Name finding. 3. Some Feng Shui or `Geomancy' practitioners I know, simply count the number of characters of a person's name e.g. George (6 characters) Livingstone (11 characters) and then `map' it to either YIN or YANG. Then use this to tell their clients that their name is either too yin, too yang or `balanced'. Well, this is in my opinion, the easiest way to find out if a `name' is too yin or too yang or balanced. But, as this is relatively new, not su…

Dear Kishore, During water and earth periods, for personal self, try to enhance yourself with wood element. For personal self, you can enhance yourself e.g. wear more of wood coloured clothings e.g. green or brown. Pink, red are acceptable also. For weak fire person, try to avoid rearing fish at home or have a fish tank in the home. Avoid wearing blue. The above is generally the thing to note about personal self. Other than that, it may not be practical, but a `wood' career would be nice (but this advise may be too much thou if you have a steady job... don't on the account of this switch job). For the home, try to enhance the luck of the home by having an acceptable Shap…

Dear JR, Thanks for sharing with us your personal experience. Usually, predictions under Chinese system can be based on:- 1. the I-Ching or Oracle 2. Using the Five Elements concept and using tools like using a Luo Pan and checking one's good direction of travel. 3. Weigh of bones and other methods under this. This is where, in the past, Chinese Monks, Priests try to `earn' some `keep' for themselves and their temples by offering predictions. This is the `fore-runner' of many fortune tellers along road sides conveniently located outside temple areas. Some use sticks, some use birds to pick out cards etc... 4. It also depends on the calibre of the Geomancer and his `pred…

Dear Iris, Please see below:- ----- Original Message ----- From: "pillars-of-destiny Listmanager" To: Sent: Tuesday, August 22, 2000 7:21 AM Subject: Eight house - opposite to husband Based on what you had mentioned above, you should not be standing infront of the main door and then take the compass direction. (Reference on correct method of compass reading using an ordinary compass: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/cecilcompass.htm ) You should not be duly `worried' about this. As you are not the only person who faces such a situation. The key point is to remember that in the Eight House:- 1. Generally, it looks at how suitable the house is to the breadwinner i.e. i…

Dear Selyn, --- This is an extract from one of the past messages placed by a user in this form under the conference "Books on Feng Shui":- I found this book is interesting and allows one to apply "I-Ching" immediately taking into consideration all the above. Another user (posted this message in the above same conference). The reader's recommendation is as follows:- "Any one interested in the Yi Jing Coin Oracle book should find it at the back of the book called "Secrets of Chinese Astrology * A Handbook for Self-Discovery" by the author Kwan Lau. " Note: I personally have not read this book but you can try. Alternatively, you can go to Amazon.com to do a search for ot…

Dear Iris, 1. The two main `goals' of Feng Shui is: - To try and enhance beneificial Qi - To neutralise Sha Qi 2. In real life, imagine standing next to or at the bottom of a water fall. One can hear the sound of water. Or thunderous sound of water. Here, a waterfall is said to bring vigourous circulation of Qi. A fountain, if it is large or huge can equally generate quite an amount of sound and activity of water i.e. a case study is the Suntec City fountain, Singapore, which is currently the largest brass/metal ring fountain. 3. A fish tank is usually meant to neutralise sha qi e.g. placed at a window to neutralise a lamp post. Or as a hobby fish tank. 4. Water flowing …

Dear Anon, Ba Zhi is the romanised word = Eight Characters. In fact " Eight Characters " is actually Pillars of Destiny. The reason why it is often called Eight Characters is because Pillars of Destiny consists of 4 Pillars x 2 elements (stem and branch). Therefore " Four Pillars or Pillars of Destiny " is based on 4 Pillars x 2 elements = 8 characters = Eight Characters or Ba Zhi. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Balancing of Five Element ========================= Feng Shui is about harmony and balance. ............................................. Similiarly for Pillars of Destiny balance is the key to harmony. Just like usually when we identify a person's personal element, we often deduce if it is weak element or strong element. It is ideal to obtain a balanced element. However, it is virtually imposible to obtain a balanced element. Partially due to the ever changing element influence of the year, month, day & hour. ............................................. Best we can do is to try to achieve a reasonable state of balance. Generally to do this we try to create balance …
