Flying Star Feng Shui (Xuan Kong Fei Xing)

Learn how to determine whether your house is good or bad

  1. Started by myfs_101236,

Dear Cecil, I am glad to find this informative site ... and I am slowly trying to digest all these information on Fengshui. I need some help in plotting my natal chart and I am not sure if I am right with my Compass Direction, and not sure if I am doing it the right way. I have attached my floor plan and what I have done was plotting the centrepoint of my house and getting the facing direction. Using the floor plan, I took the readings for the front door. This is a Period 7 house. I have also included the map of my area, showing my building location. Not sure if it is necessary, but both my husband and my Kua's number is #2. Let me know if I have done right, if not, how t…

Dear Mr Lee, Thank you again for the prompt reply. Yes, I have generate the flying chart, I notice that there bad stars in red and black, noticing that if there are 5 or 3, 4 or 9, in that particular sectors, e.g. east or se, should we be using the flat natal chart stars or the yearly/monthly stars to effect a cure? For 3 & 5 stars, we can counter with metal, star 4 is big wood, so metal cures will also be effective? Working towards a better feng shui environment.

Dear Masters, I want to thank you for your most helpful website. I have learned a lot from it. I am still struggling with the "big picture" as they say. Here's the situation..my main door (2mountain 7water 6earth) is in my death direction. I have 9mountain 5water 8earth in the north , my prosperity direction. The west(irritation) has the good 8water and 3mountain 5earth.The southwest section of the house is cut away so does not really exist. I am a single Mom suppporting whole house. My questions are 1)the main door being bad and the SW (an area I read in associated with the female head of house) missing..is there any way to be able to thrive here? 2)Since we are in constru…

Cecil/Robert, I have a Period 7 house with main door/facing in SW2 (238 deg). To the left of door is SE facing garden. Since the previous owner shifted the position of the main door, I would assume this is SW2 facing. Looking at the Flying Star charts, it seems that it would be a good idea to change the house to Period 8. However, I'm unable to renovate due to other reasons. In the meantime, - do I continue using a Period 7 chart in Period 8? - can I assume water star 8 in South for Period 7 chart applies i.e. my wealth direction is South and I can position a water feature? - NE is good in Period 8 (Luo Shu) but a period 7 house NE(7,7) is bad. Crystals are said to be goo…

  5. Dear Nhan, 1. In my opinion, no. One should not only consider specifically the base #8 as an active star. 2. This is because, some FS schools have even "sidelined" the base number. And some of the FS schools placed emphasis on the MS # and WS #. 3. I feel that all three variables: Base, MS and WS are equally important. And also because under Period 7, #4 is bad number. 4. But, under Period 8, it is felt that it is a "mixed-blessing" star. Some FS practitioners feel that #4 is a good star. While others like me, would say that it is a "mixed blessing". 5. This is because, central to Flying Star Feng Shui is what is known as the 81 interpretations. This is the permutation …

Hi, Cecil, thanks so much for your prompt response! For clarification, our shingles were replaced without things underneath exposed, so maybe in this instant keeping the period 6 is correct. However, in 2000, we also remodeled kitchen and bathroom quite extensively. Stove were moved to a better Feng Shui location (it was located in the N); a wall was knocked down, water pipes were altered so that we could bring washer and dryer from basement to first floor. Again, my thinking at the time was centering around roof line, if we didn't change roof line, period wouldn't change. But now, I'm not so sure. What do you think? As far as the hill on back. We really do have the faci…

Dear Nhan, 1. Shapes and Forms Feng Shui 1.1 More importantly, I personally feel that Shapes and Forms Feng Shui has a far higher weightage. 1.2 For a home, majority of the homes often have `clear' space at the centrepoint. 1.3 Even for many American homes, staircase is either at the centre or close to this sector. 2. Therefore, in my opinion, for a home, it is not very favourable to `lock-in' stars if this directly affects the flow of qi at the centrepoint or close-by to this. 3. And this may not be healthy for a home. 4. Contrast, this with an office. In an office, there is no harm to `lock-up' bad stars with say a storeroom. Since, in an office environment, air-con is …

  9. Further to what I had mentioned, sometimes, "leaks" such as a water position e.g. fountain or fish tank should also be taken into consideration. For example, in general, like the SW2 direction of the main door, if one is staying in a condo, where water is at this area, often, the home may be out of balance. I.e. with #3 and #4 (bad wood) around, water may inadvertently fuel this or aggrevate bad wood - bringing lots of problems. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cecil, I have started to be interested in Feng Shui just recently, looking for possible reasons (answers) for the problems my family has encountered since we have moved to our new apartment (four months ago). First I have read the book on Feng Shui by Lillian Too, and afterwards I have found your site. Now I am totally confused, and have a lots of questions but there are two which seem to me to be most urgent: 1.The position of my sons bedroom (placed on the SW, on his spook line, along the "missing" part of our flat's floor plan). My son's Gua is 4 (East Gua, Wood), his birth element is strong Fire. After calculating flying stars chart for his room (SW, base 1, mou…

Dear Vijay, Chinese Astrology and Eight House Charts ======================================== For the Eight House Charts (Compass School Feng Shui), the year of birth is enough. This is also commonly the type of information found on Chinese astrology books. In general, therefore, you are considered as a male "dragon" person - born in that year. Pillars of Destiny ================== Here, some practitioners may simply look at just the Year of birth. Some may look at the Year and Month of birth. While others may take into consideration: Year, Month, Day, Hour and Time of birth. While others may go further to look at Year, Month, Day, Hour, Time, House of Life and House of …

Dear Julie, I hope I did not mis-interpret your question. If not, please post a clarification. Under any period, #8's and #9's come in equal (numbers or amount). More importantly is where the #8 and #9 `land', combine or scatter within the Flying Star chart. Perhaps, are you refering to the fact that under Period 5, #8's and #9 come in nicely (auspicious). Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Rafael, The Reverse Mountain and Water is inauspicious unless there is a `mountain' at the frontage and a water position at the back. Often, we may not have a control over the frontage. But if we do, and if there is a hill or object 1 storey (level) high, then, this can be considered as the mountain. And a water position can thus be activated at the back. Otherwise, if you still can, check to see if Period 8 is better. If so, one resort is to change the home to a Period 8 home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Cecil, I'd like to ask you the method to find mountain star. How do I determine that there is a mountain star at specific sector of the home? As for the birthdate of the house, which one is used: completion date or construction date (the day that the earth was first disturbed or dug)? Thanks in advance. Regards, Wasis

Dear Fran, 1. For a home, often, if things are not too good, there is a good chance that the Shapes and Forms of the home (either external and interior may have problems). Often, some of the external issues include: wrong placement of water positions etc... 2. Under Compass School of Feng Shui, if one had already stayed in a home; often, what we (practitioners) do is to draw several Flying Star charts to look at the home to see if it `matches' the problems that has been faced inside a home. 3. Thus instead of trying to figure whether the home belongs to period `X' or `Y'; the most practical approach is to try to do a chart of the current period, first e.g. Period 7, since…

Dear Jennifer, 1. It is not as simple as you sound. 2. This is because the Luo Shu grid is based on a formula complete for a period. 3. Look at it this way: 3.1 Is it possible for a Skoda or a Lada (Russian made vehicle) to be sliced partially and a chunk of it replaced with part of a mercedes benz. 3.2 Does the above sound logical? If not, then; This has to be evaluated based on the principles of 20 Year Flying Star's ruleset. Please refer to my above part of message. Frankly, Jennifer, (no offence) this has to be one of the "worst" illogical messages that I had seen replied to. In such a case, it is better to close one's eyes and pretend that we are living in …

Dear Sarah, 1. In the Far East (Asia), rattan or bamboo furniture were particularly popular in the 1970's. Especially with the cheap labour and raw materials. All that is needed is to sew cushions and presto! Many homes have them. 2. In recent years especially in 1990's till today, because labour costs had risen, many have opted for other various combinations of steel/wood ; wood / cushions etc.. as they can be manufactured cheaply. The slightly more expensive go for half-cow leather etc... 3. In my opinion, I do not think so that your bamboo furniture can be considered as dead wood. 4. The only basis of calling `dead wood' is if one keeps too many `antique' furniture. Th…

Dear Anon, In Feng Shui, if one literally lifts off the roof; this is symbolic of a `major' renovation and qualifies for a change of period. Symbollically, it implies that if one repaints the entire ceiling of the house at one go, this should change to period 8. In my opinion, rebuilding your kitchen especially removing the stove and refitting the kitchen can qualify for a change to period 8. But often, the influence would come not immediately but say, 8 or 9 months after the renovation. For renovating your kitchen: 1. Please be careful NOT to renovate at compass direction 210 degrees this year. - South South-West (Location of Grand Duke of Jupiter). Else this brings seve…

Dear Alvin, In my opinion, Tai Sui or Grand Duke location is at South South West or 210 degrees this year. (And not exactly at true West i.e. 270 degress.) If you have a compass, do check whether the direction is 210? If not, then no issue. Warmest Regards, Cecil

  23. Started by wasis,

Dear Wasis, It is best to scan the entire home to check on: 1. White If the walls are white in colour (white represents metal) no additional cure is needed. 2. Water element If there are water positions at a specific sector. Or if there are relatively large amounts of blue, black or grey at a sector that has particulary lots of #3 or #4 (bad wood) Or where the year has bad #3 or #4; since water helps wood, it is best to see if we can avoid adding water element here. If there is too much `water' element here, then, additional cure should be used to control the bad wood #3 or #4 or multiples of it. 3. Wood element At a location that has bad #3 and #4. In addition to water, …

Dear Cecil, Can you please help me with this problem. Our building was built in 1961 then a new floor was added to the building in 1984 which I assume it changed the birth of the building to period 7. One of the apartments has been up for rent for the past two years with no luck. Its a beautiful apartment and people loves it when they see it but never come back again. The apartment faces 200- 202.5. My question is, if no one is living in the apartment, would enhances cures needed? How can feng shui help in this matter. Thank you and have a nice day, Luna
