Flying Star Feng Shui (Xuan Kong Fei Xing)

Learn how to determine whether your house is good or bad

  1. Started by Orion,

Dear Heidi, The hour pillars will provide 1 additional pillars to the day, hour and month. And it will to some extend have some effect on the final analysis of the strong or weak element. But that is the main key influence. It does not influence the Month or year pillar all. And since it does not affect that two, which happens to be the deciding factor of the 10-yearly and yearly analysis. It has very little impact in terms of the final analysis, unless the element of hour pillar is determined to the change the basic element strength. Pillars of Destiny was designed with the concept that it helps to chart your heavenly luck. And all that is really needed is the DAY, MON…

Dear Anon, 1. There may be some differences in the way various Feng Shui practitioners carry out their audit. I will not touch on these differences. But rather, mentioned, how, I would go about doing a Feng Shui audit:- 2. For me, I would use chiefly the following 'Schools' of Feng Shui and Ba Zi:- 2.1 Use of Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny) for Feng Shui:- I will first determine the family member's Ba Zi element and strength. For example, Husband (Mr X) is considered a " Strong Wood " person. While the Wife (Mrs X) is considered a " Weak Fire " person. 2.2 Next, under the Ba Zi (Luck Pillars), I would look at - at least 2 10 year periods (both current and next year) to check…

Dear Sarah, 1. In the Far East (Asia), rattan or bamboo furniture were particularly popular in the 1970's. Especially with the cheap labour and raw materials. All that is needed is to sew cushions and presto! Many homes have them. 2. In recent years especially in 1990's till today, because labour costs had risen, many have opted for other various combinations of steel/wood ; wood / cushions etc.. as they can be manufactured cheaply. The slightly more expensive go for half-cow leather etc... 3. In my opinion, I do not think so that your bamboo furniture can be considered as dead wood. 4. The only basis of calling `dead wood' is if one keeps too many `antique' furniture. Th…

Dear Julie, I hope I did not mis-interpret your question. If not, please post a clarification. Under any period, #8's and #9's come in equal (numbers or amount). More importantly is where the #8 and #9 `land', combine or scatter within the Flying Star chart. Perhaps, are you refering to the fact that under Period 5, #8's and #9 come in nicely (auspicious). Warmest Regards, Cecil

    1. Usually, a visual glanceat a chart is the safest bet. As can immediately see which sector qi has the most influence and also draw a mental picture of how qi can flow in that specific room. 2. In theory, based on what you had written; below; The NE sector looks "pretty" bad. Thus between the devil (NE) and the "shallow" North(not deep) blue sea; it would have to be the not so deep blue sea i.e. North Note: #2 = sickness; #4 = wood element (not as bad) #9 fire element fuels #2 (sickness) and there are two #2 and one #5 (Misfortune/sickness). If you refer to some Feng Shui books they will often say "avoid .... sleeping... here...) Libby I. wrote: My mom's room isdevi…

  7. Dear Rupert, Frankly, a 4 foot long ceramic red dragon is pretty huge. 1. Can I confirm how many claws it has. 2. What stance is it at i.e. looks like floating on air. Or is it like a mantle piece? Please refer to:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/mypictures.cgi?img=0&search=dragon&cat=all&bool=and&x=12&y=6 1. For example, the file dragons2.jpg shows the dragon in a `display' format. 2. While dragon-pic2.jpg shows that it is floating on air. 3. While photos dragon1.jpg shows that it is facing right. (or East). If one notice carefully, majority of the more authentic pieces will have its head facing (right or `East') i.e. from where we are sta…

    1. In my opinion, Traditional Feng Shui is, was and will still continue to be an interaction of: Shapes and Forms Feng Shui with the Compass School Feng Shui. 2. What you mentioned is simply using "flowery" language to give a general description of the interaction of both Shapes and Forms with a pinch of "chicken and egg" i.e. chicken or egg come first.

Dear Mimi, 1. In my opinion, as you mentioned that there is considerable remodelling (although no change of roof) usually, the house would take on Period 7's influence. 2. I believe that fortunately because of Period 7's is entering it's last lap, i.e. it is until 2003, where Period 8 comes in. 3. During this transition, especially when it reaches one year after lunar year 2003, I strongly believe that some of the enhancements done under Period 7 may not be effective or work. This relates especially to `wealth' positions e.g. water features that were looked at and meant to enhance qi during Period 7. This is more so for the fortunes of business. Where, many of those who …

  10. Dear Nhan, 1. In my opinion, no. One should not only consider specifically the base #8 as an active star. 2. This is because, some FS schools have even "sidelined" the base number. And some of the FS schools placed emphasis on the MS # and WS #. 3. I feel that all three variables: Base, MS and WS are equally important. And also because under Period 7, #4 is bad number. 4. But, under Period 8, it is felt that it is a "mixed-blessing" star. Some FS practitioners feel that #4 is a good star. While others like me, would say that it is a "mixed blessing". 5. This is because, central to Flying Star Feng Shui is what is known as the 81 interpretations. This is the permutation …

Dear Rafael, The Reverse Mountain and Water is inauspicious unless there is a `mountain' at the frontage and a water position at the back. Often, we may not have a control over the frontage. But if we do, and if there is a hill or object 1 storey (level) high, then, this can be considered as the mountain. And a water position can thus be activated at the back. Otherwise, if you still can, check to see if Period 8 is better. If so, one resort is to change the home to a Period 8 home. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Sorry, I am afraid that it is indeed a "silly" question. First time I have heard planting alarge tree to represent a mountain! Oh Boy! 1. Many trees have a tree trunk. And as the tree grow older, the trunk may be thick and hopefully it does not become a "poison arrow" slicing towards the main entrance door or even a window such as the window of the living room. This may inadvertenly create sha qi (poison arrow). 2. Under the Five Elements concept:- Imagine a large tree, it has roots that dig into earth to weaken earth. Thus if this sector say has an auspicious mountain star e.g. earth #8. Then imagine the roots of the plants will go and dig into the earth! Ideally, it …

Dear Peter, Frankly, if one is in an open space concept and cannot control the layout planning, than there is not much choice, here. Fortunately, you are not sitting facing the death or disaster sector. Which is worse-off. Often, in such cases or situation, if we are limited by "earth luck" i.e. location, than what matters most is to boost our "human / man luck". Here, positive work attitude, our PR skills etc.. Warmest Regards, Cecil P.S. for the benefit of those who are moving office, often the following ritual are performed: Select an auspicious date & time for the Office Warming Day. 1 On this day, make sure that all windows, ventilation must be covered up - usu…

    1. Yes, if one replace a new roof, it is said that the house changes to a new birth date. 2. However, please take note of the following:- 2.1 The main Flying Star Theory uses 20 year period for analysing the birth chart of a house. Thus any house build between 1984 to 2003 is considered a Period 7 house. 2.2 Therefore, since we are now within 1984 to 2003; changing the roof makes no difference to a house will still be considered born under Period 7. The difference is only when a house birth chart is other than Period 7. Therefore, a house born under Period 4, 5 or 6 will have it's birth chart changed e.g. in 2002 when the roof has been changed. And will take on the Perio…

Dear Anon, In Feng Shui, if one literally lifts off the roof; this is symbolic of a `major' renovation and qualifies for a change of period. Symbollically, it implies that if one repaints the entire ceiling of the house at one go, this should change to period 8. In my opinion, rebuilding your kitchen especially removing the stove and refitting the kitchen can qualify for a change to period 8. But often, the influence would come not immediately but say, 8 or 9 months after the renovation. For renovating your kitchen: 1. Please be careful NOT to renovate at compass direction 210 degrees this year. - South South-West (Location of Grand Duke of Jupiter). Else this brings seve…

Dear Fran, 1. For a home, often, if things are not too good, there is a good chance that the Shapes and Forms of the home (either external and interior may have problems). Often, some of the external issues include: wrong placement of water positions etc... 2. Under Compass School of Feng Shui, if one had already stayed in a home; often, what we (practitioners) do is to draw several Flying Star charts to look at the home to see if it `matches' the problems that has been faced inside a home. 3. Thus instead of trying to figure whether the home belongs to period `X' or `Y'; the most practical approach is to try to do a chart of the current period, first e.g. Period 7, since…

Please note that Flying Star (Xuan Kong) is one of the two Compass School of Feng Shui model / concept. 3. The other Compass School Feng Shui is the Eight House or East/West Group Feng Shui. 4. Given the above "clue" what has lot number got to do with the above? None! 5. In addition:Flying Star (Xuan Kong) Feng Shui can be sub-divided further into TWO models/concepts:- 5.1. Horizontal Flying Star Feng Shui 5.1.1. This is the usual 20 Year Flying Star Chart. And this is the most used of the Xuan Kong concept. 5.2. Vertical Flying Star Feng Shui…

Hi, Please read below:- Our advice to all users is to be careful of such general tips. Although the theory used to derive this is based on Flying Star for 1999. However, without flying star of the birth chart of the house, this is as good as a static cures. As good as the static Eight Association without any personalisation. You would be better off not doing anything. If you take this as correct, this means that everyone should hang a wind chime in the south? What if the stars in that sector of the house actually destroys the inauspicious 5 already? We have seen many times when users unknowingly put wind chimes because of such general tips, they end up with more pro…

Dear SL, 1. In the past, where the landscape is much easier to "view"; one can certainly during those days, find landscapes that have a profile of a dragon embracing say a tiger. 2. It is thus much easier to locate these landforms in rural areas. 3. However, with urban development, it is much harder for most people to discern Dragon/Tiger sides of a home. Where, one may have difficulty locating the dragon and tiger. 4. Therefore, nowadays, I have introduced another concept " wealth retention " where; it would be good to find sites that can retain wealth. There are a qualities (not necesssary to be present together):- 4.1 If one lives in a landed property; one should find …
