Flying Star Feng Shui (Xuan Kong Fei Xing)

Learn how to determine whether your house is good or bad

Dear Anon, A house built in 1985 is considered a `Period 7' house and thus it's birth-chart has the characteristics of a Period 7 house but based on the direction of main entrance door specific for Period 7. In my opinion, and from many past experience, sloping ceiling although is not ideal, is not necessarily the `most inauspicious'. For example, it would be worst if one sits just below a ceiling beam. A `full house' or a house that is on it's own i.e. landed property may not necessarily need to be either a square or rectangular. For example, do look at this url: http://www.geomancy.net/events/CDL_FS_Talk/talk_1_slide_2.htm In the above picture, the house on the top has …

Dear Chee Tiong, For the 20 Year Flying Star chart, in this period ie. Period 7, one should use 7 in the centre. For other charts i.e. Yearly, Monthly and/or Daily chart, it depends on the Period computation for that particular Year, Month or daily charts. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. There may be some differences in the way various Feng Shui practitioners carry out their audit. I will not touch on these differences. But rather, mentioned, how, I would go about doing a Feng Shui audit:- 2. For me, I would use chiefly the following 'Schools' of Feng Shui and Ba Zi:- 2.1 Use of Ba Zi (Pillars of Destiny) for Feng Shui:- I will first determine the family member's Ba Zi element and strength. For example, Husband (Mr X) is considered a " Strong Wood " person. While the Wife (Mrs X) is considered a " Weak Fire " person. 2.2 Next, under the Ba Zi (Luck Pillars), I would look at - at least 2 10 year periods (both current and next year) to check…

    1. Yes, if one replace a new roof, it is said that the house changes to a new birth date. 2. However, please take note of the following:- 2.1 The main Flying Star Theory uses 20 year period for analysing the birth chart of a house. Thus any house build between 1984 to 2003 is considered a Period 7 house. 2.2 Therefore, since we are now within 1984 to 2003; changing the roof makes no difference to a house will still be considered born under Period 7. The difference is only when a house birth chart is other than Period 7. Therefore, a house born under Period 4, 5 or 6 will have it's birth chart changed e.g. in 2002 when the roof has been changed. And will take on the Perio…

Dear Jennie, Please see below:- 1. If one is keen on learning proper Feng Shui, it is best to use a recommended three-step approach:- a. For any theory or concept: What is the aim or purpose of the concept? b. What is it's strength c. What is it's weakness 2. By understanding each concept's aim or purpose; strenght and weakness; we can thenn understand what it can be used for and what are it's limitations. 3. For example, when we are considering purchasing a car. It would be fine if we purchase a two door 2 or 4 seater car for an individual's use. 4. But if one has a large family; it would be wise to (if one can afford) purchase a mini-personal carrier that can seat 8…

Dear Laurie, 1. Yes, Flying Star is based on the 9 periods of the Chinese calendar system. 2. For the benefit of users who are not aware what is the nine periods. You can view this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/resources/theories/fs-calendar.htm 3. One 1 Cycle of the lunar calendar consists of 180 years or 9 periods x 20 years. 4. Each cycle is divided into 3 groups: Upper, Middle and Lower. Each group comprise 3 periods. Each period is 20 years. 5. This is where the Flying Star Feng Shui is based on this 20 year cycle. 6. And as you have mentioned can be classified as the Year cycle. From what you had mentioned, it is true that within each 20 year cycle, the numbers or pe…

Dear Sheila, 1. Yes, I do agree with you. There is relatively no problem with stone Buddha in conflict with the Grand Duke. 2. Before, all of us get `carried away with the concept of Grand Duke... *JOKE* The relevant idea is that Grand Duke that it is the planet Jupiter. And Jupiter is the largest planet it's magnetic field or force is what is considered as having a an influence. Much like the tiny moon that affects our tide. 3. Overall, in my opinion although there are two major `dislikes' of the Grand Duke: a. Touching (e.g. painting a wall) and b. Distrubing him 4. I feel that the greater impact is under Para 2 i.e. disturbing him. Especially e.g. digging earth at the …

Dear Anon, Under the 20 Year Flying Star analysis; if you not doing any major renovations under Period 8 -- your house will remain under Period 7. Yes, under Period 8, NE will continue to have 7,1,7 and you should continue to use Fire as a general cure for 20 Year Flying Star. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Anon, 1. In my opinion, this is a new area i.e. rearing of domestic "animals" - in relation to Feng Shui. More commonly, fishes are rearer especially goldfish which is considered of the metal element. As " gold " in the fish is considered of the metal element. Even the popular and expensive " dragon fish " is considerd of the metal element. Thus, it is very common for Feng Shui practitioners - in particular many years back - the Hong Kong Feng Shui practitioners `love' to implement cures for lamp posts by asking their clients to place "gold fish" e.g. at a window facing the `sha qi' or poison arrow. Thus, the fish (metal element), the water (water element) are good …

Dear John, It would be good if North Double 7's is at the main entrance. If this is the living room water element would help the double 7's (metal) element flow. The double 7 metals would already be of use to destroy the #3 wood. And a good combination of the harmonious productive cycle of Metal -> Water -> Wood combinations can be considered here. However, it should not be activated if this is not the living room area or other rooms e.g. back area of the house. Since your wife is a Strong Water person, usually balance should be created first, to offset the Strong Water e.g. personal self with say `fire' e.g. wearing red. Since fire is not beneficial for a Strong E…

  12. Dear Darius, If you are taking the reading of the building, then, the audit is meant for the entire building. And your house is just a mere (specific) sector or `grid'. If you need confirmation to confirm the centrepoint or to confirm the layout, feel free to either:- 1. create a sketch in graphic file in any of the popular format i.e. .jpg, .bmp, .gif and upload to this forum. alternatively, simply fax it to:- 065-6482570 I will be more than happy to assist you to confirm your layout / main door direction. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Yang Ming, 1. For HDB apartments, it is relatively quite easy because majority of the apartments were built either under Period 6 or (today) Period 7. 2. If the apartment you are reviewing is built anytime between 1984 to 2003, then it does not matter if it was built in 2001 and completed in 2002 (this year). Therefore, most or all new HDB apartments should be considered as under Period 7. For older apartments built before Period 7 ie. 1983 or below, do check if there were any major renovations done between 1984 to-date. If so, the apartment would most likely be a Period 7 unit. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Mimi, 1. In my opinion, as you mentioned that there is considerable remodelling (although no change of roof) usually, the house would take on Period 7's influence. 2. I believe that fortunately because of Period 7's is entering it's last lap, i.e. it is until 2003, where Period 8 comes in. 3. During this transition, especially when it reaches one year after lunar year 2003, I strongly believe that some of the enhancements done under Period 7 may not be effective or work. This relates especially to `wealth' positions e.g. water features that were looked at and meant to enhance qi during Period 7. This is more so for the fortunes of business. Where, many of those who …

Dear Isabelle, Please see below:- There is not much one can do other than to neutralise the #4's in this situation. Metal element would help to neutralise the bad wood #4's. There are several ways to look at water positions. If one is using Flying Star method, the best location is one where there is metal at that sector. For example, if the frontage of the house has say a #7 mountain, Base 1 #7 water, in this area, there are metal elements. Provided, this sector is as mentioned earlier, the frontage of the house, or e.g. the balcony area, one can take advantage of water elements with #7 metal elements. The fundamental element in Feng Shui and even Flying Star Fen…

Dear Linda, As part of net ettiqute, it is best not to use all capital letters. As this implies `shouting'. I believe there is a `leak somewhere in your home'. You can go thru some of the resources here to have a flavour of what a `leak means' and usually what traditional FS practices can do in such situations: http://sg.geomancy.net/consultation/consult-home/leakinexistinghome.htm Warmest Regards, Cecil

  23. Dear Rupert, Frankly, a 4 foot long ceramic red dragon is pretty huge. 1. Can I confirm how many claws it has. 2. What stance is it at i.e. looks like floating on air. Or is it like a mantle piece? Please refer to:- http://www.geomancy.net/mypictures/cgi-bin/mypictures.cgi?img=0&search=dragon&cat=all&bool=and&x=12&y=6 1. For example, the file dragons2.jpg shows the dragon in a `display' format. 2. While dragon-pic2.jpg shows that it is floating on air. 3. While photos dragon1.jpg shows that it is facing right. 24. Dear Anon, 1. In the application of Flying Star Feng Shui, it is always looking at a three variable combination i.e. #mountain star #water star #base star 2. Where, one can generally say that #base star can be roughly considered as the main element. 3. When we are looking at the Flying Star Feng Shui, these are the three variables taken into consideration when trying to balance a sector. 4. One should not introduce the BASIC chart i.e. North = water, South = fire, East = Wood etc.. In Flying Star Feng Shui, we have to cons ider this as just the BASIC chart and not the MAIN element chart. 5. We must note that the distinction is that we use e.g. the 20 Year Flying Star char…

Dear Anon, 1. In general, many Feng Shui practitioners or those who know about Feng Shui, tend to avoid having a sink facing or opposite the stove. This is due to water and fire clashing together. 2. If one has such a situation, one may apply the productive cycle under the Five elements concept by the introduction of wood element. 3. Here, fire -> (adding wood) -> water will form a three element combination flow. 4. In my opinion, it is still acceptable if the kitchen is located the South - fire element(compass direction - area) of the house. 5. One of the worst directions to have a sink opposite the stove is at the North (compass direction of the house). Here, it i…
