Dear Angeline, Well, in order to know this you have to understand how the Flying Star works and know how to analyse the details of the numbers. It is best to use the anlaysis from teh Flying Star report if you are not sure how to do it yourself. Generally, you have to relate the two MS and WS and then later to the base star to know whether the sector is good or bad, and not simply just based on one or two star numbers that are found in the sector. For example if the sector is 656 then the sector is not so bad even with the star 5. However, if it is 528 then you will be in a lot more trouble. At this point, the easiest way is to apply a little of your Five element know…

Yes, you see most of the problems stars are usually Wood or Earth. Metal is thus the most commonly used cure for either of the Wood or Earth cure. This is not necessary. It does not mean that at all. You can have the existing items in place such as Plants. Because in one way of looking at it Plants are wood. In the Five element relationship, Wood does also help to destroy Earth. Although, the more recommended cure is Metal because the problem star 2 or 5 is usually of Strong Earth, and Metal is the best to exhaust suchh elements. So it does not mean that you should remove all Wood elements in the sector. Simply adding the Metal cure will help to balance the sector. …

Dear Peter, Ideally, the best mountains are: 1. Firstly, under external environment, there should be a good hill or if it is further away a real mountain behind the house. Examples, are those of the mountain `protection' found in books on FS history. For example, books that describe how a location or city was chosen. 2. Thus, we should not only be looking at our own houses but on a larger picture, on such external environment. 3. If the above is fullfilled, in general, it is considered a good location .. i.e. overall prosperity for the people living there. 4. As to a home, it is difficult to quantify the exact earth i.e. 0.5 metre high etc... An investigation or observati…

Dear Peter, Please see below:- In situations as what you had mentioned above; it is always prudent to do analysis based on both charts i.e. Period 6 and 7. Usually, the two different charts may show i.e. under Period 6 (good) but Period 7 (bad). It can be matched to the present situation of the household to see which chart is more accurate i.e. Period 6 or Period 7. In my opinion, your apartment birth date should not change. But whenever possible, since we are aware of a major renovation of the apartment block, it is best to do a chart of both periods especially if one spans Period 6 and the reno was done under Period 7. 1. There is no concrete evidence so f…

Dear Anon, I just remembered another parallel example. Can we say that the instruction manuals for all cars / vehicle are the same? 1. Firstly there are automatic and manual (clutch driven cars). Can we then, read the instruction manual of an automatic car and then apply it to a manual (clutch driven car). Obviously not. 2. For those who have driven Japanese cars vs European / Continental (US) cars, there are differences in the wind screen wipers and indicators. 3. In my country where we drive (right handed), in a Japanese car, the wind screen wipers are controlled by our left hand. While the directional indicators are controlled by the right hand. This differs with an Eu…

Dear Ricardo, Apologise for the delay, due to too many questions posted daily, we may have missed it the last time. There are many ways to use a Flying Star, but usually in the website we are focused only on the House Analysis. This is it the direction where the main door faces from the center of the house. However, in doing a manual calculation, this is not exactly so simple, as you need to know the actually facing and sitting direction. However, the website's Flying Star report takes the trouble of this by doing it as soon as it knows the actual main door direction based on a normal compass. I believe what you could be confused is that, there is often some books…

Hi Kenny, Take note here, that House Number Feng Shui analysis takes only a small impact on the overall Feng Shui of a house. Feng Shui influences that affect the house are as follows in the following order:- - Shapes and Forms - Flying Star of the House - Eight House Suitability - Ba Zi Feng Shui and the suitability to the house element - House Number Feng Shui The element analysis portion of the House Number does not mean that you have use the element suggested to cure the numbers. It is for your knowledge as to why the numbers are bad. And as mentioned since it only a small portion of impact on a house, there is very little point correcting it. Furthermore, sometimes a…

Dear Clarence, Generally, when the stars 7 and 3 come in this order, the "suggested" problems is likely to occur in one of the ways listed. However, this is only taking the two stars into consideration. weak Metal destroy strong Wood. If we take that the period of the house falls in period 7, then this is not very bad as the 7 (Metal) will be auspicious. However, because 7 is only a weak Metal, it is trying to destroy strong Wood. Take this example. A small knife to cut down a 100-year old tree (with a tree truck as thick as an adult body). What's the effect? Very little impact. So in this case, the star 7 does not complete control or destroy the Strong Wood. Further to …

Dear Tufani, I will try to `answer' the question on why 2 and 5 are considered bad numbers. For the rest of the questions, will answer when I have the time:- 1. #2 and #5 belong to the earth element. 2. One perspective of looking at the numbers #1 ..... to #9 is as follows:- In # numbers, it follows a cycle: From birth ( #1) to Constant struggles ( #2 to #5) and reaping the rewards (#6 to #9). If we look at each of the numbers from the above perspective, we can then understand that like life, these numbers symoblically represent a cycle from birth, struggle, repeaping rewards to death. Thus, if one notice carefully, #2 , #3 , #4 , #5 are considered inauspicious numbers. F…

Dear Miriam, Compass school FS can be quite confusing: 1. In the past, where many people are not as knowledgeable of FS as today, some practitioners can simply get away with just practising one form of FS. 2. In my country, even today, there are FS practitioners who: 2.1 Practise only the Eight House or Easterners and Westerners or 4 good or 4 bad directions FS. 2.2. Some FS practitioners who prefer mathematics side or (for some) can only relate in terms of the mathematics e.g. #4 #5 etc... 2.3. Many FS practitioners simply use Shapes and Forms. 2.4. Some FS practitioners practise the Compass School i.e. Eight House with Flying Star. While others practise this with Shapes…

Dear Puffy, 1. In my opinion, often, I seen comments from users who tried posting questions to say the only "Feng Shui" newsgroup at : alt.chinese.fengshui usually may get a rude shock in rather comic responses where I believe a few same people perhaps with huge egos `quarrel' amongst themselves. 2. It is very diffcult therefore, to find common consensus amongst FS practitioners. 3. Overall, in Traditional Feng Shui, the main schools are: 3.1 Shapes and Form 3.2 Compass - Eight House and Flying Star 4. Shapes and Form is easy to understand but much harder to put into practise. 5. Compass School i.e. Flying Star is harder to understand but easier to apply. 6. Like the sa…

Dear Anon, Please see below:- If a house has missing corners or is as you mentioned a fat diamond shape home, the next best alternative is to use centre of gravity to determine the centrepoint. For example, obtain a photocopy of your house layout (in proper dimension). Cut the outline and place it on a cardboard. The cardboard should also be cut-out i.e. an outline of the home. Then use a pin or nail and try to balance it. The point where it can balance properly is the centre of gravity = the centrepoint of the house. I am not sure, if I understand you correctly as you mentioned that it is a figure 8? as shown above. If you have a scanned image not to large, perhaps…

Dear Luigi, 1. In my opinion, the mountain star # should be taken into consideration for a more accurate analysis. 2. The reason is because each # be it mountain, water or base is in itself an element (which is either weak or strong). 3. Thus, in Five Elements Analysis, at each sector, mountain #; water # and base # represents each an element and strength. 4. In more detailed Five Elements analysis, there the above three elements are reviewed against each other. 5. Thus, the mountain # does come into the picture i.e. where it interacts with the water # and base #. 6. Thus I feel that in a more thorough analysis, the mountain star should be taken into consideration. This …

Dear Aj, Yes, personal Gua should be different from the `numbers' to the house i.e. Flying Star chart is done on the basis of each house with inputs required of the direction of the main entrance. Thus they should be different. The house number is to look at the birth chart of the house. While personal Gua is related to personal self. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Bill, 1. As mentioned earlier, Feng Shui and Pillars of Destiny (overall) is about trying to increase one's Luck. 2. Under Feng Shui, there are several `compartments': 2.1 Shapes and Form 2.2 Compass School (Flying Star / Eight House) 3. Rather than going into a `vicious cycle', usually a holistic approach is needed under Feng Shui. 4. Here, instead of just merely looking at whether we have `tried' to increase or improve on a sector, one has to look that the whole house in total. 5. Usually, full audits are done to access the whole house. This is done for three reasons:- 5.1 To neutralise Sha Qi or poison arrows `aimed' at the house. And improve or enhance beneifi…

Dear Agnes, Yes, you should take the Flying Star of Period 7 instead of Period 6 due to the renovation work done. Whenever possible, it is also good to look at both Period 6 and Period 7 chart. Usually, one chart is better than the other. And try to match your personal experience with it. For the Period 7 chart, it may take a while for the chart to show its characteristics. As mentioned earlier, it is good to look at both charts. Yes, usually, Period 6 chart, may continue to be applicable for a while. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Steven, 1. Shapes and Form is usually the most common method in analysing a plot of land: 1.1 Using the four symbolic animals concept i.e. of clear space at the front and solid support behind. 1.2 Yin and Yang concept 1.3 The Five elements concept such as the surrounding buildings. Are they generally e.g. earth element? fire element? etc... 2. For a plot of land, it is analysed usually with a built up area. 3. This is because under the Flying Star Feng Shui there are 24 directions or (mountains) or compass degrees per 24 sector at 15 degree increments. 4. For a Flying Star Chart, it is essential that the direction of the main entrance door is taken. Without this fun…

Dear Elena, 1. For metal beams, the most important consideration is the time spent at that sector. 2. If the beam happens to be above one's bed or the sofa, we can try to neutralise it. 3. But if the beam is on it's own and one does not spent much time below it, then this is usually not an issue. 4. Yes, the idea is to use 6 coins. Alternatively, some FS practitioners advise to use 6 stars. Some people prefer not to use 6 stars because of the pointed spokes of the stars. But this is still considered a cure. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Elena, 1. My personal advise or `caution' is to avoid using `gold' colour when painting a room. 2. This is because: 2.1 Real gold colour can make the room pretty dark or if we use real gold colour (it has to become `shiny' or gleaming). Few if any home would paint such a colour. 3. Most of the time, the `GOLD' colour we are suppose to paint ends up being pastel shades closer to "YELLOW" tones. 4. Yellow tones spell trouble especially if that sector has an imbalcne caused by BAD EARTH or STAR #5. It may unduly aggrevate the situation at that sector. 5. Painting the room `darker' to coincide with gold i.e. ranging from 18K colour to 24K colour could make the room dark…

Dear Elena, I believe this is a good question:) No, we should not be activating the mountain star without regard to our personal safety. Although modern `technology' has the answer but we must never wear a hard hat to bed:)) Nor, not owning a motorbike yet buying a helment and wearing it in bed:( If the bedroom is large enough and if there is a headboard as you mentioned, sufficient to place e.g. a tortise paper weight this would be good enough. One should not go and get a oversized headboard. It looks ugly and non functional. If one is unable to place e.g. a paper weight behind the bed, the next best alternative is to place it on say the side table. (So long as the back…

Dear Elena, 1. It is interesting to note that currently, the majority of `cures' in Feng Shui today centres around the `metal element'. 2. Thus, it would not be uncommon to find `metal' cures that are being proposed such as: 2.1. the 6 coins (which represents big metal) 2.2. metallic wind chimes. 2.3. this include a Feng Shui (straight length metallic ruler). 2.4. Using a grandfather clock with its rythmic metallic tick-tock sound representing constant metallic sound. 3. Ideally, in my opinion, the safest `cure' is the use of the 6 coins. Where I mentioned above, 6 coins represent `big earth'. 4. When this cure is placed at a sector e.g. to cure an imbalance under the 20 …

Frequently Asked Question for House Number Report. ............................................. Q. Can this report be used for a non-apartment unit? A. No. This report is ONLY meant for unit number in a flat. This report is supposed to help find a good unit among the same design of a particular house. This means that say when we use the Flying Star to analyse the house and found that this particular layout and house is good, we need to see which level is better. As each level has a different level of auspicious and inauspicious influence. Thus, when finding a good unit, we need to firstly find a house based on Flying Star Report. Next, is to find the best influ…
