Dear Anon, Anonymous wrote: Related to this topic, our house was built on period 7. (1989). We have experienced a string of bad luck in the past years since 98 from health problems to financial troubles to legal. Recently we asked a friend to take a look at the house and he says that the house was auspicious at the time it was built (luck from 'twin stars'), but that the stars 'died' in sometime 97-98. He also said that the stars were now like a black hole that was getting back all the luck that it had given out over the years (sort of like a black hole). He suggested a major renovation as a cure. Dear Linda, 1. Usually, it is important to determine who is the `breadwinner' i.e. the person who earns the most money. If this is `clear-cut'; then it would be best if we are using the Eight House, to try to find a house that best suits this person. 2. If both partners are earning equally, then you should try to find a suitable house where: 2.1 if possible the death/disaster intangible force does not fall at the main entrance or the bedroom. It is acceptable still to have other intangible forces e.g. irritation at the main entrance door. 2.2 Thus look at the main entrance and especially the bedroom. Other than that, it is equally important to find a good home with good …

Dear Aj, 1. We should try to fit into the environment rather than letting the environment "fit into us." 2. Feng Shui is also about the `commonsense' approach i.e. placement of furniture should be logically feasible. 3. Shapes and Form FS is strongly based on `commonsense'. 4. The Eight House is just but one of the many concepts / theories behind FS. 5. By getting say, full marks for Eight House does not necesssary ensure that we can increase our `Earth Luck'. 6. When we look at each FS theory or concept, we should try to understand: 6.1 Its purpose and objective of its use. 6.2 Its strength and weakness 7. Under the Eight House Theory, we should not only be looking at t…

Hello Forum, We just bought a new home where our front door leads directly to our back door. some of our friends told us that's not good. What does it mean? What can we do to prevent bad "chi" in our home? Some advised us about placing plants but what kind of plants should we get and where can we exactly place the plants? Hoping for your response. Thank you in advance..............Edwin

1. The dining room or table facing the main door:- 1.1. As the dining table can be seen immediately from the main door; it is best that the dining table is always neat and tidy - not messy. 1.2. Make sure that seemingly innocent items like a scissor or sharp object on the dining table that can be seen from the main door. 2. Toilet at the frontage, yes, not the best plus the main door seeing the staircase are two other considerations that you had mentioned. 3. Attached please find the centrepoint of the home. This centre-point or center should also be superimposed onto the 2nd storey floor plan.

Dear Eoin, 1. Although some FS books e.g. author Evelyn Lip had mentioned, certain directions associated with certain occupations. 2. In others, for example, since metal (metal coins) are associated with banking, it was said that Banking outlets should face the `Metal' direction e.g. West or NW. 3. Again, it is said that since South represents `Fire'; business associated with Marketing / Sales should face this direction. 4. In real life, I believe it would be naive to simply look at the `best position' or rather best direction of the front door and associate it with any business. 5. Rather, the front door, should be looked at in relation to the whole business premises. 6.…

Dear Cecil, Responding to your reply, I first heard of this 8 aspirations on the first Feng Shui book I ever read. Later on I found that this author belonged to the Black Hat Sect. his name is Celso Yamamoto, and I think the book is from Brazil. I can't give you more info because I just can't find the book. As a matter of fact, I think I lost it... (which was very fortunate to me, because otherwise I would have never knew the truth about that FS school...). As far as I recall, he presented a Pa-Kua (Bagua?), and said to align the front door with the position career. Of course that this is the application of the Black Hat Sect. BUT the other reference to the 8 aspirations,…

Whatever, concept one uses, the Key Success factors will still be the following:- * The Concept of Maximizing Marks * The Concept of Feng Shui by Exception * The Customer Engineer Concept * Fix-the-Leak, First! * The Three-Step-Approach Good Feng Shui is about maximizing the "Good Feng Shui " score. Much like Doctors who say that about good and bad "fats". Make sure that you have more good fats (cholestrol) than bad ones...

1. In my opinion, many Professional Feng Shui practitioners would consider the "Ba Zi method" i.e. as you had mentioned, as the first choice. And the Eight House as second. 2. The major considerations are:- 2.1. "A miss is as good as a mile" 2.1.1 With Ba zi e.g. determining whether one is a weak or strong earth makes alot of difference. And like the saying goes "a miss is as good as a mile". 2.1.2 For example, in a lottery "luck" senario. If this is a 4 digit draw, if you had purchased number 1991. But the prize number turns out to be 1919. You are no where close to winning the four digit prize! 2.1.3 Thus, if the ba zi is wrongly calculated, it is "worse-off". 2.1…

Dear Cecil, Thank you for answering my questions; however, your answer rose other curiosities. In my previous message I described my main entrance: upon entering there is a narrow staircase at the end of which I enter the living space at my left. Now, according to what you have written, it seems to me that you believe that the main entrance is actually the opening at the top of the staircase and not the door at the bottom of the staircase(it's a 2nd floor apt). Would that be true? Plus, is the position of the main door determined by the actual cardinal point it faces or by the position it is located within the eight house theory square(sorry if confusing)? I also read tha…

1. Sorry to learn about your plight! And nowadays, hear so much of the misery especially in the US. 2. I belive you should be in the US. As in Asia, especially my country, your conditition is nearly non-existent! 3. From your writing, you have showed that you are a very strong and determined person And a strong will to get yourself up and running again 4. My heart pains to hear what you had gone through! Usually those who have been there, see it all; is like "after the bitterness, hopefully comes the sweetness". 5. Thanks for correcting the error, will update as soon as possible 6. Frankly, Feng Shui cannot be universally effective all the time. The saying goes …

Dear Andrew, Andrew Leon wrote: I am purchasing a conversion condo (an apartment in a building that was built in 1974) but that are doing a full renovation inside (wall painting, new appliances, new kitchen and bathroom furniture, new floor) the apartments to be sold as a condo. Should I take 1974 as house age or should I start from the date of the renovation (2005-2006)? Since there will be quite a lot of renovation work, you should take the start of the renovation (ie period 8 2004-2023) as the new birth chart of the house. Dear Karen, I had previously written a short write-up of how a traditional Feng Shui audit is conducted especially in the Far East. If you like to review the material, go to this URL: http://www.geomancy.net/fs/fsaudit.htm In this short review, I also highlighted that the review in this article is ONLY a guideline. As Feng Shui Home Audits may vary with individual Feng Shui practioners. Before engaging a Feng Shui Auditor, always ask them questions like which Feng Shui `technique' he/she is using. If the Feng Shui audit also provides you with a Pillars of Destiny report e.g. for the whole family, you should also check how `deep' is the analysis. This is because some Geom…

Dear Linda, Linda Angelo wrote: ive been reading every feng shui book i can get my hands on. the more i read the more confused i get. Unfortunately, there are many many feng shui books out there these days. So it is more important to look for books written by true traditional feng shui masters. So best you get one that is reliable or has a good reputation rather than pick any books of the shelf. Dear Stanley, 1. You have asked a very interesting question. In the past, I have mentioned that both `parties' are correct. Only the way it is interpreted. Please see below:- 2. I can certainly confirm that a `Sun' type of house has it's facing at the South-East. In fact, there is nothing wrong with both interpretations i.e. at this site and in Lillian Too's book. The description used here is based on a person using an ordinary compass (North-South compass). While what Lillian Too described is based on the `original' South-North model i.e. usually based on the Luopan. 3. Therefore, I feel that neither parties are wrong in this situation. 3. What is more important here is…

Dear Anon, It is not ideal to have such a situation. On a commonsense approach to Feng Shui, this is because of the fear of leakage e.g. leaking sewerage pipe etc.. However, if the pipes are in good condition and well maintained, this is still OK. Since, there is not much you can really reverse the process. More importantly, it is best to avoid placement of e.g. the dining table directly underneath the toilet bowl. Warmest Regards, Cecil

Dear Luigi, Let me share my personal experience with "The Eight House Theory" 1. In the past, and even now, it is very tempting for many people in the West to Apply " Feng Shui " methods such as `fixed templates ' such as those of the Black Hat Sect. 2. Such " marketing ploys " are so easy to relate to and Applied. 3. In Traditional Feng Shui, or for Traditional Feng Shui to be "equally successful" it has also to be able to be Applied with ease. 4. To `counter' the explosion of `fixed template' " FS ", the two most successful Traditional FS models can give such `fixed templates' a "hard fight": 4.1 Shapes and Form Feng Shui 4.1.1 This form of FS, if illustrated very well …
